Interfaces between the photoactive layers and electrodes play critical roles in controlling the performance of optoelectronic devices. Herein, a novel nonconjugated polymer additive (nPA), poly(2‐vinylpyridine) (P2VP), is reported for modifying the interfaces between the bulk‐heterojunction (BHJ) and cathode/metal oxide (MO) layers. The P2VP nPA enables remarkably enhanced power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) and ambient stability in different types of polymer solar cells (PSCs). Importantly, interfacial engineering can be achieved during deposition of the P2VP nPA‐containing BHJ active layer via simple, one‐step solution processing. The P2VP nPA has much higher surface energy than the BHJ active components and stronger interaction with the surface of MO, which affords spontaneous vertical phase separation from the BHJ layer on the MO surface by one‐step solution processing. The self‐assembled P2VP layer substantially reduces the work function and surface defect density of MO, thereby minimizing the charge‐extraction barrier and increasing the PCEs of the PSCs significantly, i.e., PTB7‐Th:PC71BM (10.53%→11.14%), PTB7:PC71BM (7.37%→8.67%), and PTB7‐Th:P(NDI2HD‐T) all‐PSCs (5.52%→6.14%). In addition, the lifetimes of the PSCs are greatly improved by the use of the P2VP nPA.  相似文献

An integrated preparation of safety‐reinforced poly(propylene carbonate)‐based all‐solid polymer electrolyte is shown to be applicable to ambient‐temperature solid polymer lithium batteries. In contrast to pristine poly(ethylene oxide) solid polymer electrolyte, this solid polymer electrolyte exhibits higher ionic conductivity, wider electrochemical window, better mechanical strength, and superior rate performance at 20 °C. Moreover, lithium iron phosphate/lithium cell using such solid polymer electrolyte can charge and discharge even at 120 °C. It is also noted that the solid‐state soft‐package lithium cells assembled with this solid polymer electrolyte can still power a red light‐emitting diode lamp without suffering from internal short‐circuit failures even after cutting off one part of the battery. Considering the aspects mentioned above, the solid polymer electrolyte is eligible for practical lithium battery applications with improved reliability and safety. Just as important, a new perspective that the degree of amorphous state of polymer is also as critical as its low glass transition temperature for the exploration of room temperature solid polymer electrolyte is illustrated. In all, this study opens up a kind of new avenue that could be a milestone to the development of high‐voltage and ambient‐temperature all‐solid‐state polymer electrolytes.  相似文献

Molecular orientation, with respect to donor/acceptor interface and electrodes, plays a critical role in determining the performance of all‐polymer solar cells (all‐PSCs), but is often difficult to rationally control. Here, an effective approach for tuning the molecular crystallinity and orientation of naphthalenediimide‐bithiophene‐based n‐type polymers (P(NDI2HD‐T2)) by controlling their number average molecular weights (Mn) is reported. A series of P(NDI2HD‐T2) polymers with different Mn of 13.6 ( PL ), 22.9 ( PM ), and 49.9 kg mol?1 ( PH ) are prepared by changing the amount of end‐capping agent (2‐bromothiophene) during polymerization. Increasing the Mn values of P(NDI2HD‐T2) polymers leads to a remarkable shift of dominant lamellar crystallite textures from edge‐on ( PL ) to face‐on ( PH ) as well as more than a twofold increase in the crystallinity. For example, the portion of face‐on oriented crystallites is dramatically increased from 21.5% and 46.1%, to 78.6% for PL , PM, and PH polymers. These different packing structures in terms of the molecular orientation greatly affect the charge dissociation efficiency at the donor/acceptor interface and thus the short‐circuit current density of the all‐PSCs. All‐PSCs with PTB7‐Th as electron donor and PH as electron acceptor show the highest efficiency of 6.14%, outperforming those with PM (5.08%) and PL (4.29%).  相似文献

Designing polymers that facilitate exciton dissociation and charge transport is critical for the production of highly efficient all‐polymer solar cells (all‐PSCs). Here, the development of a new class of high‐performance naphthalenediimide (NDI)‐based polymers with large dipole moment change (Δµge) and delocalized lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) as electron acceptors for all‐PSCs is reported. A series of NDI‐based copolymers incorporating electron‐withdrawing cyanovinylene groups into the backbone (PNDITCVT‐R) is designed and synthesized with 2‐hexyldecyl (R = HD) and 2‐octyldodecyl (R = OD) side chains. Density functional theory calculations reveal an enhancement in Δµge and delocalization of the LUMO upon the incorporation of cyanovinylene groups. All‐PSCs fabricated from these new NDI‐based polymer acceptors exhibit outstanding power conversion efficiencies (7.4%) and high fill factors (65%), which is attributed to efficient exciton dissociation, well‐balanced charge transport, and suppressed monomolecular recombination. Morphological studies by grazing X‐ray scattering and resonant soft X‐ray scattering measurements show the blend films containing polymer donor and PNDITCVT‐R acceptors to exhibit favorable face‐on orientation and well‐mixed morphology with small domain spacing (30–40 nm).  相似文献

While polymer acceptors are promising fullerene alternatives in the fabrication of efficient bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells, the range of efficient material systems relevant to the “all‐polymer” BHJ concept remains narrow, and currently limits the perspectives to meet the 10% efficiency threshold in all‐polymer solar cells. This report examines two polymer acceptor analogs composed of thieno[3,4‐c ]pyrrole‐4,6‐dione (TPD) and 3,4‐difluorothiophene ([2F]T) motifs, and their BHJ solar cell performance pattern with a low‐bandgap polymer donor commonly used with fullerenes (PBDT‐TS1; taken as a model system). In this material set, the introduction of a third electron‐deficient motif, namely 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole (BT), is shown to (i) significantly narrow the optical gap (E opt) of the corresponding polymer (by ≈0.2 eV) and (ii) improve the electron mobility of the polymer by over two orders of magnitude in BHJ solar cells. In turn, the narrow‐gap P2TPDBT[2F]T analog (E opt = 1.7 eV) used as fullerene alternative yields high open‐circuit voltages (V OC) of ≈1.0 V, notable short‐circuit current values (J SC) of ≈11.0 mA cm−2, and power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) nearing 5% in all‐polymer BHJ solar cells. P2TPDBT[2F]T paves the way to a new, promising class of polymer acceptor candidates.  相似文献

The charge generation and recombination dynamics in polymer/polymer blend solar cells composed of poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT, electron donor) and poly[2,7‐(9,9‐didodecylfluorene)‐alt‐5,5‐(4′,7′‐bis(2‐thienyl)‐2′,1′,3′‐benzothiadiazole)] (PF12TBT, electron acceptor) are studied by transient absorption measurements. In the unannealed blend film, charge carriers are efficiently generated from polymer excitons, but some of them recombine geminately. In the blend film annealed at 160 °C, on the other hand, the geminate recombination loss is suppressed and hence free carrier generation efficiency increases up to 74%. These findings suggest that P3HT and PF12TBT are intermixed within a few nanometers, resulting in impure PF12TBT and disordered P3HT domains. The geminate recombination is likely due to charge carriers generated on isolated polymer chains in the matrix of the other polymer and at the domain interface with disordered P3HT. The undesired charge loss by geminate recombination is reduced by both the purification of the PF12TBT‐rich domain and crystallization of the P3HT chains. These results show that efficient free carrier generation is not inherent to the polymer/fullerene domain interface, but is possible with polymer/polymer systems composed of crystalline donor and amorphous acceptor polymers, opening up a new potential method for the improvement of solar cell materials.  相似文献

The morphology related photodegradation of low band‐gap polymer blends is investigated using optical microscopy and scanning probe microscopy. Poly[2,6‐(4,4‐bis‐(2‐ethylhexyl)‐4H‐cyclopenta[2,1‐b;3,4‐b′]dithiophene)‐alt‐4,7(2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole)] (C‐PCPDTBT):[6,6]‐phenyl C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blend films without and with ODT, as well as poly[(4,40‐bis(2‐ethylhexyl)dithieno[3,2‐b:20,30‐d]silole)‐2,6‐diylalt‐(2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole)‐4,7‐diyl] (Si‐PCPDTBT):PCBM blend films exposed to a focused 632.8 nm laser under ambient condition with and without inert gas protection are studied. The photodegradation of the polymer starts in the vicinity of the PCBM molecules (first sphere degradation), which effectively blocks the electron transfer processes. Stern‐Volmer type kinetics are observed in the C‐PCPDTBT:PCBM blend with ODT, which indicates that only a small number of photo‐oxidized monomer units act as quenchers of the C‐PCPDTBT polymer luminescence. Furthermore, in addition to the permanent damage of the polymer molecules, as witnessed from their Raman intensity decrease, the polymer photoluminescence demonstrates partial reversible recovery when inert gas protection is resumed, indicating the involvement of temporary polymer/O2‐charge transfer complexes in the photodegradation process.  相似文献

A high electron mobility polymer, poly{[N,N’‐bis(2‐octyldodecyl)‐naphthalene‐1,4,5,8‐bis(dicarboximide)‐2,6‐diyl]‐alt‐5,5’‐(2,2’‐bithiophene) (P(NDI2OD‐T2)) is investigated for use as an electron acceptor in all‐polymer blends. Despite the high bulk electron mobility, near‐infrared absorption band and compatible energy levels, bulk heterojunction devices fabricated with poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) as the electron donor exhibit power conversion efficiencies of only 0.2%. In order to understand this disappointing photovoltaic performance, systematic investigations of the photophysics, device physics and morphology of this system are performed. Ultra‐fast transient absorption spectroscopy reveals a two‐stage decay process with an initial rapid loss of photoinduced polarons, followed by a second slower decay. This second slower decay is similar to what is observed for efficient P3HT:PCBM ([6,6]‐phenyl C61‐butyric acid methyl ester) blends, however the initial fast decay that is absent in P3HT:PCBM blends suggests rapid, geminate recombination of charge pairs shortly after charge transfer. X‐ray microscopy reveals coarse phase separation of P3HT:P(NDI2OD‐T2) blends with domains of size 0.2 to 1 micrometer. P3HT photoluminescence, however, is still found to be efficiently quenched indicating intermixing within these mesoscale domains. This hierarchy of phase separation is consistent with the transient absorption, whereby localized confinement of charges on isolated chains in the matrix of the other polymer hinders the separation of interfacial electron‐hole pairs. These results indicate that local, interfacial processes are the key factor determining the overall efficiency of this system and highlight the need for improved morphological control in order for the potential benefit of high‐mobility electron accepting polymers to be realized.  相似文献

A new 2D‐conjugated medium bandgap donor–acceptor copolymer, J81 , based on benzodifuran with trialkylsilyl thiophene side chains as donor unit and fluorobenzothiazole as acceptor, is synthesized and successfully used in nonfullerene polymer solar cells (PSCs) with low bandgap n‐type organic semiconductor (n‐OS) 3,9‐bis(2‐methylene‐ (3‐(1,1‐dicyanomethylene)‐indanone)‐5,5,11,11‐tetrakis(4‐ hexylphenyl)‐dithieno[2,3‐d:2′,3′‐d′]‐s‐indaceno[1,2‐b:5,6‐b′]‐ dithiophene (ITIC) and m ‐ITIC as acceptor. J81 possesses a lower‐lying highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy level of ?5.43 eV and medium bandgap of 1.93 eV with complementary absorption in the visible–near infrared region with the n‐OS acceptor. The PSCs based on J81 :ITIC and J81 :m ‐ITIC yield high power conversion efficiency of 10.60% and 11.05%, respectively, with high V oc of 0.95–0.96 V benefit from the lower‐lying HOMO energy level of J81 donor. The work indicates that J81 is another promising polymer donor for the nonfullerene PSCs.  相似文献
