For the Levene model with soft selection in two demes, the maintenance of polymorphism at two diallelic loci is studied. Selection is nonepistatic and dominance is intermediate. Thus, there is directional selection in every deme and at every locus. We assume that selection is in opposite directions in the two demes because otherwise no polymorphism is possible. If at one locus there is no dominance, then a complete analysis of the dynamical and equilibrium properties is performed. In particular, a simple necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of an internal equilibrium and sufficient conditions for global asymptotic stability are obtained. These results are extended to deme-independent degree of dominance at one locus. A perturbation analysis establishes structural stability within the full parameter space. In the absence of genotype-environment interaction, which requires deme-independent dominance at both loci, nongeneric equilibrium behavior occurs, and the introduction of arbitrarily small genotype-environment interaction changes the equilibrium structure and may destroy stable polymorphism. The volume of the parameter space for which a (stable) two-locus polymorphism is maintained is computed numerically. It is investigated how this volume depends on the strength of selection and on the dominance relations. If the favorable allele is (partially) dominant in its deme, more than 20% of all parameter combinations lead to a globally asymptotically stable, fully polymorphic equilibrium.  相似文献

The evolution of the multiallelic Levene model is investigated. New sufficient conditions for nonexistence of a completely polymorphic equilibrium and for global loss of an allele and information on which allele(s) will be lost are deduced from some new results on multidimensional recursion relations. In the absence of dominance, a more detailed analysis is presented. Sufficient conditions for global fixation of a particular allele are established. When the number of alleles equals the number of demes, necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of an isolated, globally asymptotically stable, completely polymorphic equilibrium point are derived, and this equilibrium is explicitly determined. Three examples, one with arbitrarily many alleles and two with three alleles, illustrate the theory.  相似文献

Conditions are derived that we conjecture are necessary and sufficient for the existence of stationary densities for a class of two-dimensional diffusion processes. The derivation of the conditions rests on the assumption that a two-dimensional stationary density (which can be viewed as a stable “internal equilibrium”) exists if and only if all “boundary equilibria” are unstable in the sense that small perturbations lead to moving away from the boundaries with high probability. For the models considered, the boundary equilibria are one-dimensional stationary densities and equilibrium points. To demonstrate the usefulness of the conditions, three random environment models are analyzed: a three-allele selection model, a two-species competition model, and a two-locus selection model. Several of the results obtained have been verified by alternate methods.  相似文献

应用生物数学理论研究生态平衡与可持续发展是生态系统的一个热门课题.在海洋渔业的捕捞过程中,既要保证生态平衡,又要使捕捞收益最大更是海洋渔业关注的重要课题.目前对离散系统的捕捞研究较少.运用离散差分方程的稳定性理论,讨论一类具有捕获的离散Leslic捕食-食饵种群的系统,获取正平衡点的局部渐近稳定的充分条件.通过构造适当的Liapunov函数,利用二元函数的泰勒展开式讨论正平衡点存在必全局稳定性的结果.利用函数的极值判定法讨论在维持稳定捕获前提下的最优捕获策略,来获取最优经济效益.最后,通过一个适当的例子及数值模拟的说明主要结果是合理的.给实际生产提供了理论依据,具有一定的指导意义.  相似文献

We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions on the existence of a unique positive equilibrium point and a set of sufficient conditions on the existence of periodic solutions for a 3-dimensional system which arises from a model of competition between plasmid-bearing and plasmid-free organisms in a chemostat with an inhibitor. We consider global properties for the classical SIR, SIRS and SEIR models of infectious diseases, including the models with the vertical transmission, assuming that the horizontal transmission is governed by an unspecified function f(S,I). We construct Lyapunov functions which enable us to find biologically realistic conditions sufficient to ensure existence and uniqueness of a globally asymptotically stable equilibrium state. A sexually-transmitted disease model for two strains of pathogen in a one-sex, heterogeneously-mixing population has been studied completely by Jiang and Chai in (J Math Biol 56:373-390, 2008). In this paper, we give a analysis for a SIS STD with two competing strains, where populations are divided into three differential groups based on their susceptibility to two distinct pathogenic strains. We investigate the existence and stability of the boundary equilibria that characterizes competitive exclusion of the two competing strains; we also investigate the existence and stability of the positive coexistence equilibrium, which characterizes the possibility of coexistence of the two strains. We obtain sufficient and necessary conditions for the existence and global stability about these equilibria under some assumptions. We verify that there is a strong connection between the stability of the boundary equilibria and the existence of the coexistence equilibrium, that is, there exists a unique coexistence equilibrium if and only if the boundary equilibria both exist and have the same stability, the coexistence equilibrium is globally stable or unstable if and only if the two boundary equilibria are both unstable or both stable.  相似文献

The study of the mechanisms that maintain genetic variation has a long history in population genetics. We analyze a multilocus-multiallele model of frequency- and density-dependent selection in a large randomly mating population. The number of loci and the number of alleles per locus are arbitrary. The n loci are assumed to contribute additively to a quantitative character under stabilizing or directional selection as well as under frequency-dependent selection caused by intraspecific competition. We assume the strength of stabilizing selection to be weak, whereas the strength of frequency dependence may be arbitrary. Density-dependence is induced by population regulation. Our main result is a characterization of the equilibrium structure and its stability properties in terms of all parameters. It turns out that no equilibrium exists with more than two alleles segregating per locus. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on the strength of frequency dependence to ensure the maintenance of multilocus polymorphism. We also give explicit formulas on the number of polymorphic loci maintained at equilibrium. These results are based on the assumption that selection is sufficiently weak compared with recombination, so that linkage equilibrium can be assumed. If additionally the population size is assumed to be constant, we prove that the dynamics of the model form a generalized gradient system. For the model in its general form we are able to derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability of the monomorphic equilibria. Furthermore, we briefly analyze a special symmetric two-locus two-allele model for a constant population size but allowing for linkage disequilibrium. Finally, we analyze a single diallelic locus with dominance to illustrate the complications that can occur if the assumption of additivity is relaxed.  相似文献

A logistic matrix model for age-structured population dynamics is constructed. This model discretizes a continuous, density-dependent model with age structure, i.e. it is an extension of the logistic model to the case of age-dependence. We give the first mathematically rigorous proof that disturbances allow competing species to coexist. This work provides a mathematical framework to explain the existence of fugitive species and the role played by disturbances in increasing or decreasing the biodiversity of ecosystems. We study modifications of the metapopulation model for patchy environments proposed by Caswell and Cohen (1990, 1991). For the one- and two-species models we give necessary and sufficient conditions on the parameters for the existence of a non-trivial equilibrium solution, which is shown to be always globally stable.  相似文献
