As one of the most specialized pollination syndromes, the fig (Ficus)–fig wasp (Agaonidae) mutualism can shed light on how pollinator behaviour and specificity affect plant diversification through processes such as reproductive isolation and hybridization. Pollinator sharing among species has important implications for Ficus species delimitation and the evolutionary history of the mutualism. Although agaonid wasp pollinators are known to visit more than one host species in monoecious figs, pollinator sharing has yet to be documented in dioecious figs. The present study investigated the frequency of pollinator sharing among sympatric, closely‐related dioecious figs in Ficus sections Sycocarpus and Sycidium. Molecular and morphological species identification established the associations between pollinating agaonid wasp species and host fig species. Cytochrome oxidase I was sequenced from 372 Ceratosolen pollinators of Ficus section Sycocarpus and 210 Kradibia pollinators of Ficus section Sycidium. The association between fig species and morphologically distinct clades of pollinator haplotypes was predominantly one‐to‐one. In Ceratosolen, six of 372 pollinators (1.5%) visited fig species other than the predominant host. No pollinator sharing was detected between the two Sycidium host species, although a rare hybrid shared Kradibia pollinators with both parental species. These findings point to low rates of pollinator sharing among closely‐related dioecious fig species in sympatry, and perhaps lower rates than among monoecious figs. Such rare events could be evolutionarily important as mechanisms for gene flow among fig species. 镉离子(Cd2+)具有强植物毒性,可抑制植物生长,甚至导致植物死亡。为了研究重金属镉对拟南芥的毒害作用,采用叶绿素荧光技术、流式细胞技术、激光共聚焦技术及半定量RT-PCR技术,检测光合参数的变化、活性氧(reactive oxygen species,ROS)的累积、自噬的发生,以及病原相关蛋白(pathogenesis-related protein,PR)基因表达的变化。实验结果显示,随着50μmol/L CdCl2处理时间的延长,ROS和Cd2+在细胞中大量积累。而在镉胁迫的初期,会观察到自噬的发生及PR基因表达的变化。说明植物受到外界Cd2+作用的初期,会通过自噬及增强PR基因表达来抵抗外界胁迫。但随着处理时间的延长,植物细胞内累积了大量的ROS和Cd2+,当植物不足以通过自噬途径抵抗胁迫时,就会导致生长受阻,最终对光合系统造成损伤。  相似文献

1. Invasive species can transform aquatic ecosystems, and the nuisance growth of the freshwater macrophyte Juncus bulbosus has become a problem in many lakes and rivers in northern Europe. It affects biodiversity strongly and conflicts with human uses, not least compromising the generation of hydroelectricity. The causes of the proliferation of these massive stands of J. bulbosus are not finally resolved, however. 2. In this study, a wide range of catchment, lake and sediment parameters (n = 34) were assessed for 139 lakes in Southern Norway, with the aim of explaining the presence or absence of J. bulbosus and to assess potential drivers behind its prolific growth. 3. Juncus bulbosus was more often present in lakes with lower pH and phosphate concentrations, and a higher element ratio of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) to total phosphorus (DIN : TotP). 4. Despite the many parameters measured across substantial environmental gradients, none explained nuisance growth. Genetic screening (amplified fragment length polymorphism fingerprinting) of plants from a subset of lakes and additional river sites also showed no genetic differences between the various growth forms. A macrophyte trophic index, however, suggested that the most problematic growth occurred in the most oligotrophic lakes. 5. The lack of consistent patterns may reflect either factors not assessed in our survey, or that the current extension of stands represents a gradual cumulative response over time, not characterised effectively in our snapshot survey. Nevertheless, we can now exclude some putative causes of nuisance growth, including in particular genetics and N‐deposition.  相似文献

Factors Affecting Flower Abortion and Malformation in Roses   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1  
The formation of blind shoots and malformed flowers in rose plants grown under various temperatures and light intensities, and subjected to different cut back procedures has been studied. Low temperature, low light intensity and low cut back promoted blind shoot formation. Hybrid tea cultivars are more sensitive for unfavourable temperature, light and cut back treatments than Floribunda cultivars. The process of floral abortion is initiated during the early stages of shoot growth before the differentiation of floral parts has been completed. Low temperatures (12–15°C) in this critical stage of development strongly promote blind shoot formation, but have no effect when stamen and pistil primordia had been formed in the apical flower bud. The formation of malformed flowers, so-called “bullheads”, which have significantly more petals than normal flowers, is also promoted by low temperature and low cut back. Light intensity seems to have no effect. Shoots subjected to low temperature (12°C) during the early stages of development, before the differentiation of the floral organs are fully completed, produce malformed flowers to a greater extent than shoots subjected to high temperature (18–24°C) during this period. It is suggested that blind shoot formation in roses is subject to hormonal control.  相似文献

The amount of endogenous growth substances in stem, flowers and leaves of rose plants grown under different temperature and light conditions has been determined. It appeared to be two main growth promoting factors in the acidic fraction of the ether extract. One of them is assumed to be an auxin, probably indol-3yl-acetic acid (IAA); the other is not identified. The level of auxin was much higher in extracts from shoots grown at high temperature than in shoots grown at low temperature. Increasing light intensity also seemed to increase the auxin content of the shoots. Shoots which developed after a high cut back of the rose stem had a higher auxin content than shoots which developed after a low cut back. These findings are discussed in relation to the effect of temperature, light intensity and cut back practise on blind shoot formation in roses. The result of these investigations strongly indicate that abortion in roses is promoted by a low auxin level in the shoots.  相似文献

Even small losses of gastrointestinal secretions when combined with reduced intake of electrolytes may seriously disturb electrolyte balance. Knowledge of the ionic composition of secretions lost is essential in planning therapy. Loss of gastric contents usually results in excessive loss of chloride; in achlorhydria this is not the case. Loss of sodium and potassium may be large in either case and is often underestimated. Small bowel obstruction results in a more balanced loss of electrolyte which may not affect acidbase balance greatly. In diarrhea loss of base predominates, and may result in a large potassium deficit. Steatorrhea due to nontropical sprue results in large fecal losses of sodium, potassium and chloride, in addition to the large calcium and phosphorus loss. In chronic peptic ulcer excessive ingestion of milk and absorbable alkalies may result in hypercalcemia, azotemia and alkalosis, without hypercalciuria. Since renal function is usually adequate in the milder gastrointestinal disturbances, electrolyte and fluid replacement should be started early, and can be guided by generally available laboratory tests, the carbon dioxide combining power and serum chloride levels, provided the predominate ionic loss is known and potassium deficiency remedied. If this is done, development of serious fluid and electrolyte deficits can usually be prevented.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. Leishmania parasites, which afflict 12 million people in 88 countries, exist as promastigotes transmitted by insect vectors and as amastigotes residing in mammalian macrophages. Promastigote cells arranged in rosettes have also been described but universally disregarded as a distinct stage in the life cycle. We present evidence that only rosettes of Leishmania major promastigotes express cell surface poly‐α2,8 N‐acetyl neuraminic acid (PSA) and PSA containing de‐N‐acetyl neuraminic acid (NeuPSA). Expression of rosette‐specific PSA antigens was mosaic, with individual promastigotes expressing PSA, NeuPSA or both. A 50 kDa protein was detected by Western blot analysis of a detergent‐insoluble cell fraction with both PSA and NeuPSA‐reactive antibodies. Frequencies of rosette formation as well as cell surface PSA/NeuPSA expression were temperature dependent. Rosettes also engaged in an unusual swarming behavior, congregating into extended clusters. Distinct structures resembling cellular fusion bodies were formed in and released from rosettes. The results indicate that rosettes are an unrecognized stage in the life cycle of Leishmania. We hypothesize that rosettes initiate mating in Leishmania during which PSA/NeuPSA expression plays an important role. Recognizing rosettes as a distinct form of the Leishmania life cycle opens new possibilities for treatment or prevention of disease and, possibly, in vitro genetic recombination without passage of cells through insect vectors.  相似文献
