Although much research has focused upon the negative impacts of invasive Spartina alterniflora upon salt marshes dominated by other Spartina spp., little is known about its impacts upon native Scirpus mariqueter marshes. In 1997, S. alterniflora was introduced to the Jiuduansha Shoals, Yangtze Estuary, China, to accelerate the formation of marsh habitat via accretionary processes, with the larger goal of drawing waterfowl away from wetlands near the Pudong International Airport, Shanghai, China. In 2000, a nature reserve was established on the Jiuduansha Shoals, making the impact upon the native S. mariqueter community a high priority for research. Our objective was to quantify the impacts of introduced S. alterniflora and Phragmites australis to the native S. mariqueter-dominated community at this site in four elevation zones, as compared with a nearby natural shoal. We found that species diversity was greater in the lower elevations with the engineering, through elimination of the natural dominance of S. mariqueter. We also found that diversity was lessened in the higher elevations, due to rapid growth and exclusion by the planted S. alterniflora in conjunction with the native P. australis. Moreover, we found that the growth of the native S. mariqueter was stimulated when S. alterniflora was planted nearby. It is quite likely that the net effect of these ecological processes will be to accelerate further accretion, leading to an eventual replacement of the S. mariqueter-dominated community in the long-term. Future management approaches should focus upon harvesting, grazing, and perimeter-ditching the S. alterniflora to avoid this situation.  相似文献

盐度和种间作用是影响湿地植物群落构建的关键因子。然而,已有研究主要集中于植物成体阶段,我们对生活史早期更新阶段的种间相互作用了解十分有限。崇明东滩国家级自然保护区是位于长江口的重要湿地,外来入侵植物互花米草对优势土著物种海三棱藨草的竞争排斥对当地生态系统造成了严重的负面影响。通过受控实验探讨了盐度及种间作用对海三棱藨草和互花米草种子萌发及生长的影响,以深入了解更新过程在盐沼湿地植物群落构建中的作用。结果表明,在培养皿中盐度对海三棱藨草的萌发有显著抑制作用,互花米草的萌发率受盐度影响不显著但萌发进程被延迟。混种处理对两者的萌发存在一定促进效应,且其作用强度受到盐度的调控。海三棱藨草与互花米草种子在萌发阶段的相互促进并非是通过化感作用实现的,可能是由于萌发过程对盐分的吸收减弱了盐胁迫的影响。盆栽条件下,两物种混种时的萌发及生长表现(高度、地上生物量)较单种时有所下降,但差异不显著。种间竞争受环境胁迫程度及生活史阶段的影响,竞争作用在胁迫较弱的淡水环境及生活史后期更强。盐沼湿地植物群落在形成早期受到盐度等环境因子的影响较大,不同植物对盐胁迫的响应是影响种群建成的主导因素,后期种间竞争的重要性不断增加,最终决定了植物群落的整体格局。  相似文献

Although invasions by non-native species represent a major threat to biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, little attention has been paid to the potential impacts of these invasions on methane (CH4) emission and its 13C-CH4-isotope signature in salt marshes. An invasive perennial C4 grass Spartina alterniflora has spread rapidly along the east coast of China since its introduction from North America in 1979. Since its intentional introduction to the Jiuduansha Island in the Yangtze River estuary in 1997, S. alterniflora monocultures have become the dominant component of the Jiuduansha’s vegetation, where monocultures of the native plant Scirpus mariqueter (a C3 grass) used to dominate the vegetation for more than 30 years. We investigated seasonal variation in soil CH4 emission and its 13C-CH4-isotope signature from S. alterniflora and S. mariqueter marshes. The results obtained here show that S. alterniflora invasion increased soil CH4 emissions compared to native S. mariqueter, possibly resulting from great belowground biomass of S. alterniflora, which might have affected soil microenvironments and /or CH4 production pathways. CH4 emissions from soils in both marshes followed similar seasonal patterns in CH4 emissions that increased significantly from April to August and then decreased from August to October. CH4 emissions were positively correlated with soil temperature, but negatively correlated with soil moisture for both S. alterniflora and S. mariqueter soils (p?<?0.05). The δ13C values of CH4 from S. alterniflora, and S. mariqueter soils ranged from -39.0‰ to -45.0‰, and -37.3‰ to -45.7‰, respectively, with the lowest δ13C values occurring in August in both marshes. Although the leaves, roots and soil organic matter of S. alterniflora had significantly higher δ13C values than those of S. mariqueter, S. alterniflora invasion did not significantly change the 13C- isotopic signature of soil emitted CH4 (p?>?0.05). Generally, the CH4 emissions from both invasive S. alterniflora and native S. mariqueter soils in the salt marshes of Jiuduansha Island were very low (0.01–0.26 mg m-2 h-1), suggesting that S. alterniflora invasion along the east coast of China may not be a significant potential source of atmospheric CH4.  相似文献

We investigated dynamics and spatial distribution of Scirpus mariqueter and Spartina alterniflora seed banks at Chongming Dongtan in the Yangtze River estuary, China. Five sites along an elevational gradient were chosen, one in each of the main zones (mudflat, Scirpus monoculture, Scirpus–Spartina mixture, Spartina monoculture and Spartina–Phragmites mixture). Three surveys were performed just after seed rain, before germination and after germination, respectively. During the period of November 2005 to May 2006, soil seed density of Scirpus mariqueter declined by 36%, and that of Spartina alterniflora by 58%. The spatial distributions of their seed banks were also different. Soil seed density of Scirpus mariqueter was not determined directly by seed production, but positively correlated with total aboveground biomass of the whole plant community. On the contrary, soil seed density of Spartina alterniflora just after seed rain (November) was significantly correlated with seed production, but had a poor relationship with the community's aboveground biomass. Our results indicated that other factors such as tidal movement might have had great influence on dispersal of Scirpus mariqueter, which would also affect its population dynamics. The understanding of this process can help us improve the conservation and restoration efforts.  相似文献

盐生植物是盐沼有机碳储存的"临时库",也是土壤有机碳累积的主要来源,其碳储量大小对盐沼生态系统"碳汇"功能的发挥十分重要。以长江口潮滩本地种芦苇(Phragmites australis)和海三棱藨草(Scirpus mariqueter),及入侵种互花米草(Spartina alterniflora)为研究对象,采用单因素盆栽实验,模拟分析淹水盐度(0、5、10、15、25和35)、淹水深度(0、10、20、40、60cm和80cm)和淹水频率(每天、每3天、每7天、每10天和每15天)变化对各盐生植物地上、地下和总体碳储量大小的影响。研究结果表明,随着淹水盐度增加,芦苇、互花米草和海三棱藨草地上部分与总体碳储量均显著降低。土壤盐度可分别解释其地上部分碳储量变异的47.2%、66.5%和72.7%,与总体碳储量变异的34.7%、45.0%和62.0%。随着淹水深度增加,芦苇地上部分、总体碳储量和海三棱藨草地上部分碳储量均显著降低,其变异的68.6%、28.5%和71.1%可由淹水深度变化(10—80cm)解释。互花米草在80cm淹水深度下仍有较高的地上部分碳储量和总体碳储量。3种盐生植物碳储量对淹水频率变化的响应差异均不显著,所有处理地下部分碳储量差异也未达到显著水平。总体而言,互花米草对水盐胁迫的耐受性要强于本地种芦苇和海三棱藨草。尽管互花米草和芦苇具有相对较高的碳储量,但水盐胁迫对其碳储量的显著抑制作用不容忽视。海三棱藨草碳储量本就不高,输入土壤的有机碳量较为有限,海平面上升及盐水入侵等逆境胁迫会使其对盐沼"碳汇"贡献更加微弱。  相似文献

Many studies have found that plant invasion can enhance soil organic carbon (SOC) pools, by increasing net primary production (NPP) and/or decreased soil respiration. While most studies have focused on C input, little attention has been paid to plant invasion effects on soil respiration, especially in wetland ecosystems. Our study examined the effects of Spartina alterniflora invasion on soil respiration and C dynamics in the Yangtze River estuary. The estuary was originally occupied by two native plant species: Phragmites australis in the high tide zone and Scirpus mariqueter in the low tide zone. Mean soil respiration rates were 185.8 and 142.3 mg CO2 m−2 h−1 in S. alterniflora and P. australis stands in the high tide zone, and 159.7 and 112.0 mg CO2 m−2 h−1 in S. alterniflora and S. mariqueter stands in the low tide zone, respectively. Aboveground NPP (ANPP), SOC, and microbial biomass were also significantly higher in the S. alterniflora stands than in the two native plant stands. S. alterniflora invasion did not significantly change soil inorganic carbon or pH. Our results indicated that enhanced ANPP by S. alterniflora exceeded invasion-induced C loss through soil respiration. This suggests that S. alterniflora invasion into the Yangtze River estuary could strengthen the net C sink of wetlands in the context of global climate change.  相似文献

We quantified the independent impacts of flooding salinity, flooding depth, and flooding frequency on the native species, Phragmites australis and Scirpus mariqueter, and on the invasive species Spartina alterniflora in the Yangtze River Estuary, China. Total biomass of all three species decreased significantly with increasing salinity, but S. alterniflora was less severely affected than P. australis and S. mariqueter. Elevated flooding depth significantly decreased their live aboveground biomass of P. australis and S. mariqueter, while S. alterniflora still had high live aboveground biomass and total biomass even at the highest flooding depth. These findings indicated that S. alterniflora was more tolerant to experimental conditions than the two native species, and an unavoidable suggestion is the expansion of this non-native species in relation to the native counterparts in future scenarios of increased sea-level and saltwater intrusion. Even so, environmental stresses might lead to significant decreases in total biomass and live aboveground biomass of all three species, which would potentially weaken their ability to trap sediments and accumulate organic matter. However, the relatively high belowground-to-aboveground biomass ratio indicated phenotypic plasticity in response to stressful environmental conditions, which suggest that marsh species can adapt to sea-level rise and maintain marsh elevation.  相似文献

Spartina alterniflora, smooth cordgrass, native to the eastern USA, was introduced into south San Francisco Bay ≈ 25 years ago. It has spread by purposeful introduction of rooted plants and dispersal of seeds on the tides. Previous work suggested that S. alterniflora was competitively superior to the native California cordgrass, S. foliosa, and that the two species hybridized. The present study determined the spread of S. alterniflora and S. foliosa × alterniflora hybrids in California and examined the degree of hybridization. We used nuclear DNA markers diagnostic for each species to detect the parental species and nine categories of hybrids. The California coast outside San Francisco Bay contained only the native species. All hybrid categories exist in the Bay, implying that several generations of crossing have occurred and that hybridization is bidirectional. Hybrids were found principally near sites of deliberate introduction of the exotic species. Where S. alterniflora was deliberately planted, we found approximately equal numbers of S. alterniflora and hybrid individuals; S. foliosa was virtually absent. Marshes colonized by water-dispersed seed contained the full gamut of phenotypes with intermediate-type hybrids predominating. The proliferation of hybrids could result in local extinction of S. foliosa. What is more, S. alterniflora has the ability to greatly modify the estuary ecosystem to the detriment of other native species and human uses of the Bay. To the extent that they share these engineering abilities, the proliferation of cordgrass hybrids could grossly alter the character of the San Francisco Bay.  相似文献

互花米草(Spartina alterniflora)作为我国危害最严重的外来入侵植物之一,严重威胁滨海湿地生态系统安全。筛选可高效灭除互花米草的除草剂,为互花米草防治提供技术支持。2017年7月在黄河三角洲潮间带对互花米草茎叶喷施不同除草剂,在施药当年和次年对互花米草生长状况和大型底栖动物密度进行跟踪调查。研究结果表明:1)高效氟吡甲禾灵对互花米草的灭除效果最好,既能杀死互花米草地上部分从而完全抑制有性繁殖,又可完全抑制次年的无性繁殖;2)氰氟草酯对互花米草的灭除效果也比较好,可以完全抑制互花米草的生长和结穗,但抑制根状茎无性繁殖能力的效果稍差,草甘膦可以完全抑制互花米草的有性繁殖,但无法抑制次年互花米草的无性繁殖;3)施用除草剂在短期内会毒害某些底栖动物,但在1年后底栖动物种群数量与对照处理无显著差异。除草剂对环境的影响程度与除草剂用量和施用时间息息相关,未来研究中,应在保证灭草效果的前提下,探索最佳用药时间和最低用量以最大限度地降低环境影响。  相似文献

滨海湿地生态修复已成为阻止海岸带生态系统退化、保护生物多样性以及提供生态服务的关键措施。以长江口原生盐沼植物海三棱藨草(Scirpus mariqueter)为研究对象,选取崇明东滩新生滩涂湿地为研究区域,通过沿潮滩高程梯度的海三棱藨草植株斑块的移植实验,探究胁迫梯度假说和互惠理论(即种内的正相互作用)对长江口海三棱藨草种群恢复的指导意义。研究结果显示:(1)在一定的胁迫梯度范围内(潮滩高程2.0 m以上),增大种植斑块可以促进海三棱藨草的种内正相互作用,显著提高种植斑块的存活率和植株密度(P0.05);(2)潮滩水文动力沉积条件与潮滩高程梯度密切相关(P0.05),水文动力沉积作用对海三棱藨草定居和生长的胁迫随高程梯度下降而增强。潮滩高程2.0 m以下处强烈的水文动力条件干扰限制了生物-物理因素的正反馈作用。滨海湿地盐沼植被修复工作的成功率可以通过改进种植方式,增强种内的正相互作用得到极大的提高。研究可为开展大规模滨海湿地盐沼植被修复工程和提高生态修复效率提供科学依据和技术支持。  相似文献

土壤微生物是生态系统维持正常结构与功能的重要组成部分,为探究盐城滩涂典型湿地土壤微生物群落结构特征,以江苏盐城滩涂互花米草、藨草、盐地碱蓬、芦苇及淤泥质光滩5种典型群落为对象,采用16S rRNA高通量测序技术分析0—10 cm(表层)、10—30 cm(中层)、30—60 cm(深层)土壤微生物多样性及群落结构。结果表明:(1)几种植物群落间,土壤微生物群落结构差异较大,主要体现在细菌群落结构的差异性,古菌群落结构差异相对较小。光滩与植物群落间,在土壤细菌种类及相对丰度上差异相对较大,互花米草群落与本土植物群落间,在微生物群落的细菌种类组成上存在较大差异;藨草群落土壤表层微生物群落结构与互花米草群落相似,深层与盐地碱蓬、芦苇群落相似。(2)同一群落不同层次土壤微生物群落结构相似,差异小于不同群落间土壤微生物群落的结构差异性;不同群落对应层次间,表深层土壤中五种群落土壤微生物多样性存在显著差异,中层土壤中五种群落微生物多样性差异不显著。总体上,植物群落类型对土壤微生物群落结构的影响大于土壤深度;与本土植物群落相比,互花米草群落土壤主要优势门微生物种类差异较小,但部分优势门微生物相对丰度...  相似文献

Spartina alterniflora, a perennial grass native to the North American Atlantic coast, was introduced during the 19th century in western Europe (Southern England and western France) where it hybridized with the native Spartina maritima. In England, the sterile hybrid S. × townsendii gave rise by chromosome doubling to the highly fertile allopolyploid Spartina anglica, which has now invaded many salt marshes and estuaries in western Europe, and has been introduced in several continents. In South-West France, another sterile hybrid was discovered in 1892 in the Bidassoa Estuary, and named Spartina × neyrautii. According to their morphology, some authors suggested that S. × neyrautii and S. × townsendii result from reciprocal crosses. During the 20th century, the hybridization site was severely disturbed, and surviving of S. × neyrautii was questioned. In this paper, various Spartina populations are investigated in the Basque region (France and Spain), and compared to the hybrid taxa formed in England (S. × townsendii and S. anglica). The samples were analyzed using molecular fingerprinting (RAPD and ISSR) and Chloroplast DNA sequence (trnL-trnT spacer, trnL intron and trnL-trnF spacer). In the Bidassoa estuary, a hybrid isolated clone has been found, that displays additive species-specific nuclear markers of S. maritima and S. alterniflora, and that is subsequently considered as a surviving clone of S. × neyrautii. The molecular analyses indicate that S. × neyrautii and S. × townsendii share the same maternal (S. alterniflora), and paternal (S. maritima) parental species, but also that the two independent hybridization events have involved different parental (nuclear) genotypes in England and in South-West France. Scirpus × mariqueter Tang & F.T. Wang (CYPERACEAE) is a pioneer plant of the tidal zone of estuaries of East Asia. Amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLP) were used to infer the relationship between S. × mariqueter and its putative progenitors, Scirpus planiculmis F. Schmidt and Scirpus triqueter L. The genetic distance between S. × mariqueter and S. triqueter was much higher than that between S. × mariqueter and S. planiculmis, and samples of S. × mariqueter and those of S. planiculmis did not form a monophyletic group, while the S. triqueter group formed a distinct monophyletic group. However, we also detected an apparent clustering of individuals of S. × mariqueter and S. planiculmis separately. Our results disprove the hybrid origin of S. × mariqueter and rather suggest that it is more closely related to S. planiculmis.  相似文献

闽江河口红树林土壤微生物群落对互花米草入侵的响应   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
采用磷脂脂肪酸标记法(PLFA)研究外来入侵植物互花米草对闽江河口湿地红树林土壤微生物群落结构的影响,并探讨其主要影响因素。结果表明:从3种不同植被群落土壤(红树林群落MC、红树林-互花米草混生群落MS、互花米草群落SC)共检测到22种PLFA生物标记,MS土壤微生物PLFA生物标记总量明显高于其他植被群落,3种植被群落土壤理化性质和酶活性的变化趋势为:MCMSSC,表明互花米草入侵后土壤微生物量增加,而理化性质和酶活性均有明显下降,红树林湿地土壤质量发生了明显退化。3种植被群落土壤中含量最高的PLFA生物标记是16:0,16:1w7c,9Me15:0w,18:1w12c。土壤中特征微生物相对生物量存在明显差异,细菌分布量最大,其次是真菌和放线菌,原生动物分布量最小。群落多样性指数呈相似规律,MS土壤微生物类群多样性指数均小于MC,表明互花米草入侵后土壤微生物群落多样性指数均有下降。通过主成分分析,基本能区分出3种不同植被群落微生物群落的特征。土壤理化性质、酶活性间存在相关性,有机碳、全氮、蔗糖酶、过氧化氢酶与革兰氏阴性菌、放线菌呈显著或极显著正相关。研究结果表明互花米草入侵在一定程度上具有影响红树林群落土壤营养代谢循环的潜力,特别是关于碳、氮、磷等的循环及酶活性,改变部分有利于自身生长的土壤环境相关的微生物类群含量,竞争有利环境,迅速扩张实现入侵。  相似文献

基因组大小是物种基因组的重要特征,通常用DNA C值来衡量,能够用于快速判断基因组倍性,并为分类学与进化生物学提供重要依据。海三棱藨草(Scirpus mariqueter)是长江口和杭州湾具有重要生态意义的标志性物种,被认为是扁秆藨草(S. planiculmis)和藨草(S. triqueter)的杂交种,因染色体小而难以准确确定倍性。近年来,部分研究者指出该物种的分类和命名存在疑点。该研究通过基因组Survey分析检测海三棱藨草样本CJ1的基因组特征,测序深度约为120 ×,并以绿豆(Vigna radiata)为参考标准,利用流式细胞术测定了海三棱藨草及其同域近缘种扁秆藨草和藨草以及海三棱藨草和扁秆藨草的杂交F1共13个样本的DNA C值和相对倍性。结果表明:(1)基因组Survey分析测得CJ1的基因组大小为244.12 Mbp,杂合率为0.68%,重复序列比例为42.38%,GC含量为37.25%。(2)流式细胞术测得来自不同区域的海三棱藨草各样本的基因组倍性相同,1C值在234.87 ~ 242.5 Mbp之间,其中CJ1的基因组大小与基因组Survey检测结果高度一致。(3)扁秆藨草的1C值在251.77 ~ 264.13 Mbp之间,藨草1C值为537.33 Mbp。根据上述基因组大小,认为海三棱藨草不可能是这两者的杂交种。该研究补充了海三棱藨草及其近缘种的基因组特征,为后续全基因组测序奠定基础,同时也否定了海三棱藨草起源于扁杆藨草和藨草杂交的假说。  相似文献

互花米草被引入我国滨海地区后,经过多年的生长与演替,改变了潮间带原有生态系统的碳储量,而影响机制仍有待深入研究。为进一步探讨互花米草入侵后潮滩有机碳储量演变特征,该文以广西北部湾大风江口入侵约6 a的互花米草湿地为研究对象,分析了2018年8月、11月及2019年1月、3月采集的样品中有机碳及相关理化指标。结果表示:(1)互花米草植物年均地上碳储量为9.68 t·hm~(-2),高于地下根系的5.56 t·hm~(-2);(2)互花米草入侵湿地土壤碳储量显著高于互花米草植物本身,且不同季节中春季土壤碳储量显著高于其他季节;(3)土壤的C/N比值为3.53~9.67,表明互花米草入侵群落有机碳受海源的潮汐输入影响较大;(4)互花米草生态系统总碳储量与土壤碳储量之间呈极显著正相关关系,且季节性变化规律一致;(5)随着入侵时间的延长,互花米草生态系统中有机碳储量呈逐渐增加的趋势,表明互花米草入侵提高了光滩的有机碳储量,并能提高光滩的固碳能力。该文可为科学评价互花米草入侵对光滩碳储量的影响提供参考。  相似文献

As a species for ecological engineering, Spartina alterniflora was introduced to Chongming Dongtan in 1995, and over the last 10 years, this species has rapidly invaded large areas of the Chongming Dongtan nature reserve. In this study, use of a normalized biomass size-spectra (NBSS) approach was explored to evaluate the possible impacts of S. alterniflora invasion on the benthic communities along gradients of intertidal zones and the invasion history of S. alterniflora within the nature reserve. The results showed that the characteristics of macrobenthic communities and the variation in macrobenthic communities described by the first two CCA axes revealed clearly the gradients of elevation and invasion history of S. alterniflora. The differences in the macrobenthic assemblages between the Spartina alterniflara marshes and the native Phragmites australis marshes decreased with increasing of invasion history of S. alterniflara. The macrobenthic biomass showed a decreasing trend, while the meiobenthic biomass showed a reverse trend along the elevation gradient. The macrobenthic biomass of S. alterniflora marshes with longer invasion history was higher than that at recently invaded S. alterniflora marshes, while the meiobenthic biomass was lower. The slopes of NBSS for the sampling sites showed a trend of steeper slopes with decreasing of elevation and at the recently invaded S. alterniflora marshes than that at marshes with longer invasion history, while the differences between the native P. australis marshes and the S. alterniflora marshes with long invasion history tended to be diminished. The NBSS approach could thus be used more widely to detect possible impacts of S. alterniflara invasion on benthic assemblages. This study also indicated the potential for this approach to provide valuable insights into the ecosystem ecology of invasive species, which could be very important for wetland biodiversity conservation and resource management in the Yangtze River Estuary and other such impacted areas.  相似文献

The Yangtze River estuary is an important ecoregion. However, Spartina alterniflora, native to North America, was introduced to the estuary in the 1990s through both natural dispersal and humans and now it is a dominant species in the estuarine ecosystems, with its invasions leading to multiple consequences to the estuary. S. alterniflora had great competitive effects on native species, including Scirpus mariqueter and Phragmites australis, and could potentially exclude the natives locally. The presence of S. alterniflora had little influence on the total density of soil nematodes and macrobenthonic invertebrates, but significantly altered the structure of trophic functional groups of nematode and macrobenthonic invertebrate communities. The conversion of mudflats to Spartina meadows had significant effects on birds of Charadriidae and Scolopacidae, which might be attributable to the reduction of food resources and the physical alterations of habitats for shorebirds. S. alterniflora invasions increased the primary productivity of the invaded ecosystems, and altered carbon and nitrogen cycling processes. Our studies focused mainly on the effects of S. alterniflora invasions on the structure of native ecosystems; thus further studies are clearly needed to investigate how ecosystem functioning is affected by the modification of the structure of estuarine ecosystems by S. alterniflora invasions.  相似文献

Although genetic diversity is very important for alien species, which have to cope with new environments, little is known about the role that genetic diversity plays in their invasive success. In this study, we set up a manipulation experiment including three levels of genotypic diversity to test whether genotypic diversity can enhance the invasive ability of alien species, in our case the invasive Spartina alterniflora in China, and to infer the underlying mechanisms. There was no significant relationship between genotypic diversity and parameters of performance in the first year; however, from the summer of the second year onwards, genotypic diversity enhanced four of the six parameters of performance. After two growing seasons, there were significant positive relationships between genotypic diversity and maximum spread distance, patch size, shoot number per patch, and aboveground biomass. Moreover, abundance of the native dominant species Scirpus mariqueter was marginally significantly decreased with genotypic diversity of S. alterniflora, suggesting that enhanced invasive ability of S. alterniflora may have depressed the growth of the native species. There was no significant difference in most measures of performance among six genotypes, but we observed a transgressive over performance in four measures in multiple‐genotype patches. At the end of the experiment, there were significant nonadditive effects of genotypic diversity according to Monte Carlo permutations, in six‐genotype, but not three‐genotype plots. Our results indicated that both additive and nonadditive effects played roles in the positive relationship between genetic diversity and invasion success, and nonadditive effects were stronger as duration increased.  相似文献

Balanus glandula, an east Pacific acorn barnacle from rocky shores, was introduced to Mar del Plata, Argentina more than 40 years ago and has spread over 17 latitudinal degrees southward. Here we report the first record of this species living in a soft-bottom environment colonizing the salt marsh plant species Limonium brasiliense, Spartina densiflora, S. alterniflora and Sarcocornia perennis. In addition, we describe the size frequency distribution, density and spatial distribution of the barnacles colonizing the different plant species. The size frequency distribution of Balanus showed a bimodal pattern in all plants. Barnacles were mostly large in S. densiflora, but small in S. alterniflora, with more balanced distributions of small and large barnacles on S. perennis and L. brasiliense. The highest density of barnacles was observed on S. perennis (x = 35.8 ind/cm2, SD = 40.5) and S. alterniflora (x = 33.8 ind/cm2, SD = 23), while the lowest on L. brasiliense (x = 1.5 ind/cm2, SD = 1.18) and S. densiflora (x = 0.17 ind/cm2, SD = 0.09). More than 90% of the barnacles on any given plant were found living. While barnacles colonized only the first few centimeters above the soil surface level in S. alterniflora and L. brasiliense, they reached their highest point on S. perennis. The finding of a rocky shore species successfully colonizing soft-bottom marshes within an invaded region brings new perspectives to discussions in biological invasion ecology, and raises additional considerations for coastal environmental management.  相似文献
