Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (SE) is a foodborne pathogen that can threaten human health through contaminated poultry products. Live poultry, chicken eggs and meat are primary sources of human salmonellosis. To understand the genetic resistance of egg‐type chickens in response to SE inoculation, global gene expression in the spleen of 20‐week‐old White Leghorn was measured using the Agilent 4 × 44 K chicken microarray at 7 and 14 days following SE inoculation (dpi). Results showed that there were 1363 genes significantly differentially expressed between inoculated and non‐inoculated groups at 7 dpi (I7/N7), of which 682 were up‐regulated and 681 were down‐regulated genes. By contrast, 688 differentially expressed genes were observed at 14 dpi (I14/N14), of which 371 were up‐regulated genes and 317 were down‐regulated genes. There were 33 and 28 immune‐related genes significantly differentially expressed in the comparisons of I7/N7 and I14/N14 respectively. Functional annotation revealed that several Gene Ontology (GO) terms related to immunity were significantly enriched between the inoculated and non‐inoculated groups at 14 dpi but not at 7 dpi, despite a similar number of immune‐related genes identified between I7/N7 and I14/N14. The immune response to SE inoculation changes with different time points following SE inoculation. The complicated interaction between the immune system and metabolism contributes to the immune responses to SE inoculation of egg‐type chickens at 14 dpi at the onset of lay. GC, TNFSF8, CD86, CD274, BLB1 and BLB2 play important roles in response to SE inoculation. The results from this study will deepen the current understanding of the genetic response of the egg‐type chicken to SE inoculation at the onset of egg laying. 相似文献
Abstract In order to explore the role of ecdysteroids in development and reproduction of ixodid ticks, we studied the quantitative variation of ecdysteroids in the hemolymph, synganglion, ovary and whole body of the female ixodid ticks, Dermacentor niveus and Haemaphysalis longicornis , before and after engorgement and oviposition by HPLC and RIA. The ecdysteroid content in eggs of these ticks was determined by HPLC. The results indicated that before engorgement the quantitative variation of ecdysteroids in the whole female body was not significant, but their levels increased rapidly after engorgement. The ecdysteroid titer in hemolymph was peaked on the 5th day after engorgement, which was one day prior to oviposition. It may be regarded as a singnal of oviposition. In the synganglion the peak of ecdysteroid level occurred also on the 5th day after engorgement. This is coincident with the secretory activity of neurosecretory cells of synganglion. From the 3rd day after engorgement until oviposition the ecdysteroid level in the ovary increased rapidly. Ecdysteroids were detected in eggs of H. longicornis too. They stem from ovary and accumulated with the process of embryonic development. 相似文献
Plasmonic coupling effects (between neighboring components) are able to red shift the peak wavelengths of dipolar-localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) and increase the corresponding refractive index sensitivity of nanoparticle sensors. The coupling effects on plane Au-nanosphere-cluster (including nanosphere dimer, trimer, pentamer, and heptamer) sensors are numerically investigated by finite element method (FEM). We found that the coupling does not violate the quadratic response characteristics of LSPR peak wavelengths, hence the linear responses of the sensitivities to the bulk refractive index of Au cluster sensors. Yet, for nanosphere dimer sensors, they contribute to the exponential decrease of sensitivities with their gap distances, which follow the universal plasmon ruler behavior. The amplitude of their fractional sensitivity shift is revealed to be bulk refractive index independent, which is different from that of their fractional LSPR peak wavelength shift. These are analytically explained well in terms of an effective nanoparticle model. The present work also gives an upper sensitivity limit for Au nanosphere dimer systems and provides a method to estimate the interparticle separation between the two component nanospheres of the dimer.
Neuroimage registration is crucial for brain morphometric analysis and treatment efficacy evaluation. However, existing advanced registration algorithms such as FLIRT and ANTs are not efficient enough for clinical use. In this paper, a GPU implementation of FLIRT with the correlation ratio (CR) as the similarity metric and a GPU accelerated correlation coefficient (CC) calculation for the symmetric diffeomorphic registration of ANTs have been developed. The comparison with their corresponding original tools shows that our accelerated algorithms can greatly outperform the original algorithm in terms of computational efficiency. This paper demonstrates the great potential of applying these registration tools in clinical applications. 相似文献
<正>Structural variations (SVs) are mutations with large-scale changes (generally50 bp) in the genome. SVs are major sources of the genetic diversity of organisms and thus are of high relevance to phenotype variations, gene dosage and evolutionary genetics. Except detecting SVs through comparative genetic analyses, dozens of software had been developed based on the alignment of short-reads to a single linear genome in the past decades (Guan and Sung, 2016). 相似文献
