Lectotypification of the name Thymus serpyllum L. (Lamiaceae) is presented. The name is typified by a specimen from the Burser herbarium (UPS), the only one which corresponds well with the present concept of T serpyllum and undoubtedly represents original material.  相似文献

MARHOLD, K., 1992. A multivariate morphometric study of the Cardamine amara group (Cruciferae) in the Carpathian and Sudeten mountains. A multivariate morphometric study of the Cardamine amara group based on 55 population samples, collected throughout the Carpathian and Sudeten mountains in Czechoslovakia, Poland, Ukraine and Romania, is presented. Among the multivariate methods, principal component analysis, cluster analysis, classificatory, canonical and stepwise discriminant analysis were used. The analysis of chromosome numbers from all studied populations showed the same diploid chromosome number: 2n = 16. Together with the results of multivariate morphometric analysis this led to the conclusion that the best way of classifying this group in the area studied was to divide it into two subspecies– Cardamine amara subsp. amara and C. amara subsp. opicii. Tetraploid populations of this group occurring in the Alps require further study.  相似文献

In recent years the biphasic approach initiated by Mow and coworkers, has been very popular in modelling soft, hydrated, cartilage tissues as well as other soft tissues, such as the brain. This work points out that due to the inherent inability of biphasic models in their present form to account for stress-strain rate dependence resulting from the viscoelasticity of the solid phase, the applicability of these models is limited to the loading conditions producing large relative velocities of phases.  相似文献

The relationships between genome size and the systematic and evolutionary patterns in vascular plants are equivocal, although a close relationship between genome size and evolutionary patterns has been previously reported. However, several studies have also revealed the dynamic nature of genome size evolution and its considerable ‘ups’ and ‘downs’. Thus, in this study, the phylogenetic relationships among three previously revealed genome size groups and among species of the highly polyploid genus Curcuma were evaluated using AFLP. Our results suggest two main lineages within Indian Curcuma reflecting evolution of genome size. The first one includes hexaploids and higher polyploids of the previously recognized genome size group I, and the second one includes mainly hexaploids of genome size groups II and III. Within genome size group I, relationships among species seem to be influenced by reticulate evolution and higher polyploids are likely to be of allopolyploid origin. Reproductive systems in Indian Curcuma vary considerably among ploidy levels and these differences considerably affect morphological and genetic variation. In general, clonally reproducing species are expected to exhibit low genotypic diversity, but, at the same time, species of allopolyploid origin are expected to maintain higher levels of heterozygosity compared with their progenitors. We investigated intra‐populational genetic variability in Curcuma spp. to evaluate whether mode of reproduction or ploidy represent the main factor influencing the degree of genetic diversity. We found that hexaploid species exhibited significantly higher genetic diversity than higher polyploids (9x, 15x). Our results suggest that this genetic diversity pattern is largely influenced by the mode of reproduction, as higher polyploids reproduce exclusively vegetatively, whereas hexaploids reproduce mainly sexually. © 2011 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2011, 165 , 388–401.  相似文献

The overall pattern of morphological variation and genetic diversity (allozyme analysis) was studied in the Hieracium nigrescens group (H. nigrescens s.l., H. alpinumH. murorum) in the Sudety Mountains and the Western Carpathians. A morphological analysis was performed on 180 plants from 12 populations belonging to six a priori distinguished taxa. Altogether, 25 characters were measured or scored. Morphometric (canonical discriminant analysis) data separated five taxa, evaluated here at the species rank: H. chrysostyloides, H. decipiens, H. nigrescens (all from the Sudety Mountains), H. jarzabczynum, and H. vapenicanum (the Western Carpathians). A distinct local population from Mount Babia hora (the Western Carpathians) comprised a further possible taxon, given the preliminary name ‘H. babiagorense’. Genetic diversity was studied in 17 populations of H. chrysostyloides, H. decipiens, H. jarzabczynum, H. nigrescens, H. vapenicanum and ‘H. babiagorense’ using five enzyme systems. All a priori recognized species were proved to be genetically homogeneous, each consisting of one unique multilocus allozyme genotype, except ‘H. babiagorense’ which shared the same genotype with H. jarzabczynum. For the first time, a chromosome number is reported for H. vapenicanum (2n = 3x = 27) and previously published numbers were confirmed for H. chrysostyloides (2n = 5x = 45), H. decipiens (2n = 4x = 36), H. jarzabczynum (2n = 4x = 36), H. koprovanum (2n = 4x = 36), and H. nigrescens (2n = 4x = 36). All species have been shown to be endemic to either the Sudety Mountains or the Western Carpathians. Except for the species studied, two further ones (H. apiculatum, H. nivimontis) are recognized in the area, giving a total of seven species from the Hieracium nigrescens group in the area studied. The morphologically slightly different local population from Mount Babia hora/Babia Góra (‘H. babiagorense’) requires further study. Two new combinations are proposed: Hieracium jarzabczynum (Paw?. & Zahn) Mráz & Chrtek f. and Hieracium vapenicanum (Lengyel & Zahn) Chrtek f. & Mráz. © 2007 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2007, 153 , 287–300.  相似文献

Overarching trends can be seen in European mammalian phylogeography, yet it is clear that species responded differently depending on adaptations to past environments. We built upon previous work on the phylogeography of weasels (Mustela nivalis) in Europe by using well‐preserved museum specimens from a proposed phylogeographic suture zone. The complete cytochrome b gene was amplified from 49 individuals from present‐day Poland and analyzed with previously published data on a European scale to identify glacial refugia and infer recolonization processes. Bayesian coalescent analysis revealed the importance of the Last Glacial Maximum and the Younger Dryas in the diversification of, and demographic changes in, identified mitochondrial lineages. Our analysis, in conjunction with the available fossil data, strongly points to a Carpathian origin for one of the lineages, and further highlights the importance of this region as a refugium for European mammals. Mustela nivalis originating from this refugium appear to have a selective advantage over M. nivalis from other lineages in certain environments in the suture zone in central Europe, with climate clearly influencing the distribution of mitochondrial DNA lineages. This has important implications not only for our understanding of how past climatic events shaped the genetic architecture of species, but also how they will respond to current and future climatic changes. © 2012 The Linnean Society of London, Biological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2012, 106 , 57–69.  相似文献

Four different cytotypes have been reported for Senecio jacobaea L. ssp. jacobaea throughout Europe, with the most common occurrence of tetraploids (2 n  = 40). Here we present a survey of previously published chromosome number data on this subspecies and its geographical distribution, and focus on populations from Pannonia and the Carpathians. Two ploidy levels have been determined in the study area, using chromosome counting and flow cytometry: tetraploid (2 n  = 40) and octoploid (2 n  = 80). Fifty-one populations originating from Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine and Romania have been analysed. Multivariate morphometric analyses have been performed on 39 populations to study morphological differentiation between these two cytotypes. Despite slight morphological tendencies expressed on the level of populations, tetraploid and octoploids cannot be reliably distinguished morphologically and they are not taxonomically classified formally here.  © 2007 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2007, 153 , 231–242.  相似文献
