用扫描电镜观察和行为学实验研究鳜鱼口咽腔味蕾形态和分布及吞食行为反应特性,结果表明,鳜鱼口咽腔味蕾丰富,几乎都是I型和Ⅱ型味蕾,着生于表皮乳突上,主要分布于上颌骨齿周围及内侧,下颌齿周围及外侧,舌前中区,下鳃骨细齿内侧等部位,其它区域分布较少,鳜鱼口咽腔味蕾对食物味道和软硬均非常敏感,鳜鱼仅吞食同时具有一定味道和软硬度的食物,本文探讨了鳜鱼口咽腔味蕾的结构功能关系及其对捕食习性的适应意义。  相似文献

New Glycoprotein-Associated Amino Acid Transporters   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The L-type amino acid transporter LAT1 has recently been identified as being a disulfide-linked ``light chain' of the ubiquitously expressed glycoprotein 4F2hc/CD98. Several LAT1-related transporters have been identified, which share the same putative 12-transmembrane segment topology and also associate with the single transmembrane domain 4F2hc protein. They display differing amino acid substrate specificities, transport kinetics and localizations such as, for instance, y+LAT1 which is localized at the basolateral membrane of transporting epithelia, and the defect of which causes lysinuric protein intolerance. The b0,+AT transporter which associates with the 4F2hc-related rBAT protein to form the luminal high-affinity diamino acid transporter defective in cystinuria, belongs to the same family of glycoprotein-associated amino acid transporters (gpaATs). These glycoprotein-associated transporters function as amino acid exchangers. They extend the specificity range of vectorial amino acid transport when located in the same membrane as carriers that unidirectionally transport one of the exchanged substrates. gpaATs belong to a phylogenetic cluster within the amino acid/polyamine/choline (APC) superfamily of transporters. This cluster, which we designate the LAT family (named after its first vertebrate member), includes some members from nematodes, yeast and bacteria. The latter of these proteins presumably lack association with a second subunit. In this review, we focus on the animal members of the LAT cluster that form, together with some of the nematode members, the family of glycoprotein-associated amino acid transporters (gpaAT family). The pleural interneuron PlB is a white neuron in the pleural ganglion of the snail Lymnaea. We test the hypothesis that it inhibits neurons at all levels of the feeding system, using a combination of anatomy, physiology and pharmacology. There is just one PlB in each pleural ganglion. Its axon traverses the pedal and cerebral ganglia, running into the buccal ganglia. It has neuropilar branches in the regions of the cerebral and buccal ganglia where neurons that are active during feeding also branch. Activation of the PlB blocks fictive feeding, whether the feeding rhythm occurs spontaneously or is driven by a modulatory interneuron. The PlB inhibits all the neurons in the feeding network, including protraction and retraction motoneurons, central pattern generator interneurons, buccal modulatory interneurons (SO, OC), and cerebral modulatory interneurons (CV1, CGC). Only the CV1 interneuron shows discrete 1:1 IPSPs; all other effects are slow, smooth hyperpolarizations. All connections persist in Ca2+/Mg2+-rich saline, which reduces polysynaptic effects. The inhibitory effects are mimicked by 0.5 to 100 mol l–1 FMRFamide, which the PlB soma contains. Swallowing and biting responses in the marine mollusk Aplysia are both mediated by a cyclical alternation of protraction and retraction movements of the grasping structure, the radula and underlying odontophore, within the feeding apparatus of the animal, the buccal mass. In vivo observations demonstrate that Aplysia biting is associated with strong protractions and rapid initial retractions, whereas Aplysia swallowing is associated with weaker protractions and slower initial retractions. During biting, the musculature joining the radula/odontophore to the buccal mass (termed the hinge) is stretched more than in swallowing. To test the hypothesis that stretch of the hinge might contribute to rapid retractions observed in biting, we analyzed the hinges passive properties. During biting, the hinge is stretched sufficiently to assist retraction. In contrast, during swallowing, the hinge is not stretched sufficiently for its passive forces to assist retraction, because the odontophores anterior movement is smaller than during biting. A quantitative model demonstrated that steady-state passive forces were sufficient to generate the retraction movements observed during biting. Some species of Clariidae (air breathing catfishes) have extremely well developed (hypertrophied) jaw closing muscles that increase the maximal biting force of these species. As these enlarged jaw muscles tightly cover the suspensoria, which are firmly connected to the neurocranium, we expect diminished lateral expansions during suction for species with hypertrophied jaw muscles. In turn, this could imply a reduced suction performance for these species. Compared to Clarias gariepinus, which has relatively small jaw closers, Clariallabes longicauda shows a clear hypertrophy of the jaw adductors. A kinematic analysis of prey capture in these two species is presented here. As predicted, Clariallabes longicauda shows less lateral expansion (average abduction of the hyoids of 19.0°) than Clarias gariepinus (abduction of 31.1°). However, our data indicate that the decrease in lateral expansion capacity in the species with excessive adductor development is compensated for by a larger and faster ventral expansion of the buccal cavity by depression of the hyoid.  相似文献

Asbestopluma hypogea (Porifera) is a carnivorous species that belongs to the deep-sea taxon Cladorhizidae but lives in littoral caves and can be raised easily in an aquarium. It passively captures its prey by means of filaments covered with hook-like spicules. Various invertebrate species provided with setae or thin appendages are able to be captured, although minute crustaceans up to 8 mm long are the most suitable prey. Transmission electron microscopy observations have been made during the digestion process. The prey is engulfed in a few hours by the sponge cells, which migrate from the whole body towards the prey and concentrate around it. A primary extracellular digestion possibly involving the activity of sponge cells, autolysis of the prey and bacterial action results in the breaking down of the prey body. Fragments of the prey, including connective cells and muscles, are then phagocytosed and digested by archaeocytes and bacteriocytes. The whole process takes 8–10 days for a large prey. This unique feeding habit implies the capture and digestion of a macro-prey without any digestive cavity. It would appear to be an adaptation to life in deep-sea oligotrophic environments. Carnivorous sponges provide actual evidence, through a functional example, that a transition is possible from the filter-feeder poriferan body plan towards a different organizational plan through loss of the aquiferous system, a transition that has been hypothesized for the early evolution of Metazoa.Electronic Supplementary Material Supplementary material is available in the online version of this article at  相似文献

Wirenia argentea and Genitoconia rosea feed on Cnidaria like most representatives of the molluscan taxon Solenogastres (Aplacophora, Neomeniomorpha sensu Scheltema). The structure and histochemistry of the foregut are described based on histologic, semithin, and ultrathin section series. The ultrastructure was analyzed by means of transmission electron microscopy. There are two sets of unicellular glands: a narrow row of preoral gland cells opening to the preoral area, and pharyngeal gland cells in high numbers. Preoral gland cells produce serous secretions in W. argentea, but mucosubstances in G. rosea, whereas pharyngeal gland cells are similar in structure and histochemistry in both species. Based on the size and electron density of gland vesicles, five distinct types of pharyngeal gland cells can be defined. In contrast to earlier assumptions, all types of pharyngeal gland cells produce serous secretions, most probably representing digestive ferments, but no mucosubstances.  相似文献

The instream distributions and feeding habits of two species of sleeper, Eleotris acanthopoma and E. fusca, were studied in the Teima River on Okinawa Island, southern Japan. Both adult fishes inhabited the river, but their distribution patterns were found to be different. The distribution of E. acanthopoma was from the tidally influenced area to the lower part of the freshwater area, whereas E. fusca was distributed almost entirely in the freshwater area. They were found to coexist at the upper limit of the tidally influenced area and the lower part of the freshwater area. Their feeding habits were clearly different, although both species were carnivorous. Eleotris acanthopoma fed mainly on crabs in the tidally influenced area and on aquatic snails in the freshwater area, where they coexist with E. fusca. In contrast, E. fusca fed mainly on shrimps in the freshwater area. Their coexistence may result from the difference in their feeding habits.  相似文献

Exercise intolerance is one of the most common symptoms in patients with mitochondrial myopathies (MM). At the whole body level, this is characterized by a reduction in maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) with an excessive carbon dioxide production (VCO2), increased rating of perceived exertion and a hyperdynamic circulatory response at a given exercise intensity. Fewer patients with MM display overt muscle atrophy and weakness even in the absence of a peripheral neuropathy. At the level of the skeletal muscle, the abnormal exercise response in MM patients is characterized by an increase in; delivery of oxygen relative to extraction (reduced myoglobin or hemoglobin desaturation), lactate production, phosphocreatine hydrolysis and time of post-exercise PCr and ADP recovery. Classically, the characterization of exercise intolerance is performed using cycle ergometry with measurements of VO2, VCO2, respiratory exchange ratio (RER = VCO2/VO2), heart rate, minute ventilation, rating of perceived exertion, and cardiac output (where available). Exercise protocols to maximum or for a given time period at a set workload can differentiate MM from controls with a sensitivity of 0.63-0.75 and a specificity of 0.70-0.90. Modified hand-grip exercise protocols, especially if coupled with simultaneous measurements of myoglobin/hemoglobin desaturation (near infra-red spectroscopy) or venous oxygenation, can achieve similar or higher levels of sensitivity and specificity. Similarly, exercise coupled with muscle phosphocreatine/Pi ratios, PCr, pH or ADP recovery kinetics, determined using magnetic resonance spectroscopy are useful in differentiating MM, but are limited by availability, experience and cost. In summary, aerobic exercise testing with some measurement of oxygen consumption can be performed in most institutions and can provide valuable information in the both the work-up of patients with suspected MM as well as in the monitoring of therapy in such patients.  相似文献

Larvae of the west-Japan type yellow-spotted longicorn beetle, Psacothea hilaris (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), show a long-day type photoperiodic response at 25 degrees C; under long-day conditions, larvae pupate after the fourth or fifth instar, while under short-day conditions, they undergo a few nonstationary supernumerary molts and eventually enter diapause. In the present study, the effect of food on the development and photoperiodic response of the larvae was examined with special reference to molting and pupation. Although the pupal body size was greatly affected by the food quality and the length of feeding, the critical day length for induction of metamorphosis at 25 degrees C was always between 13.5 and 14 h. Exposure to starvation of larvae reared on the standard diet revealed that the capability to pupate is acquired after a few days of feeding in the fourth instar. In the larvae that had acquired the capability to pupate, premature pupation was induced by exposure to starvation, indicating that feeding becomes dispensable long before it is normally terminated.  相似文献
