Question: Is plant diversity in fragmented semi‐natural grasslands related to present and historical landscape context? Location: Southern Sweden. Methods: Plant diversity was described at 30 semi‐natural grassland sites in terms of total and specialist plant species richness at the site and species density at different scales (0.5–10 m2). These measures are commonly used to assess conservation value of semi‐natural grasslands. Landscape context was measured as contemporary connectivity to other semi‐natural grasslands, historical connectivity 50 years ago, amount of linear elements potentially suitable for dispersal (road verges, power line clearings), and amount of forest (inverse of the openness of the landscape). Results: The diversity measures were generally correlated with each other, implying that species richness in a subset of the grassland can predict the total richness. Plant species density at three scales (0.5 m2, 10 m2 and total) was related to the landscape context using an information theoretic approach. Results showed that total species richness increased with increased size of grasslands, contrary to earlier diversity studies in semi‐natural grasslands. Larger grasslands were more heterogeneous than smaller grasslands, and this is a likely reason for the species‐area relationship. Heterogeneity was also of high importance at the smaller scales (0.5 m2, 10 m2). With increased amount of forest, total species richness increased but species density on 10 m2 decreased. There was no influence of connectivity in either the contemporary or the historical landscape, contrary to previous studies. Conclusions: Grassland size and heterogeneity are of greater importance for plant diversity in semi‐natural grassland, than grassland connectivity in the landscape.  相似文献

Habitat associations and the effect of predators on dwarf rockfishes (Sebastes spp.) were investigated in two large marine protected areas (MPAs) off southern California. Using data from submersible surveys, the occurrence and abundance of dwarf rockfishes were modeled using substrata types and the biomass of predators as predictor variables. The occurrence and abundance of dwarf rockfishes generally were positively associated with rock, boulder, and cobble substrata. The association between predators and occurrence of dwarf rockfishes differed substantially between species. Predator density and biomass levels were much lower in the southern California MPAs than in a de facto MPA off central California. Better inference about predator effects on dwarf rockfishes will be possible if the predator biomass and densities of southern California MPAs increase to that observed in the de facto MPA.  相似文献

This paper examines various association, symmetry and “diagonal band” class models for both the British and Danish social mobility data. Composite models are also fitted to these data and the variety of models considered ensures that for most square tables, parsimonious models within the class of models examined in this study can always be found that will adequately describe such tables. The models considered in this study, which have been described in various forms by Goodman (1984), Upton (1985) and Tomizawa (1986) can suit most square tables having ordered classificatory variables. 模式发现是生物信息学的一个重要研究方向,但目前的大部分算法还不能保证获得最优的模式.文章推导了针对三个序列片段相似性关系的判据,将其作为剪枝规则,提出并实现了一种深度优先的穷举搜索算法——判据搜索算法(criterion search algorithm,CRISA),理论分析表明,对绝大多数模式发现问题,CRISA具有多项式的计算时间复杂度和线性的空间复杂度。对仿真的和实际的生物序列数据的测试也表明,CRISA能够快速而完全地识别出序列中所有的模式,具有优于其它算法的总体评价,能够应用于实际的模式发现问题。  相似文献

培育玉米抗旱杂交种是减小因干旱带来的玉米产量损失的有效途径之一.但多年来对玉米抗旱品种的筛选指标一直没有系统研究.由于抗旱育种和抗旱种质资源鉴定评价有不同目标和要求,因而玉米抗旱品种筛选指标和种质资源抗旱性鉴定评价指标也应有所不同.本研究通过对121个玉米杂交种在不同水分条件下的产量进行分析,对不同品种筛选指标的特点进行比较,认为耐旱指数DTIv[即(Yd×Yw)/Ymw2]是玉米抗旱杂交种筛选的良好指标,而从抗旱系数[即Yd/Yw]发展而来的抗旱指数[(Yd/Yw)×(Ymw/Ymd)]是玉米种质资源抗旱性鉴定评价的良好指标.  相似文献

The stability of a pest population is one of the critical features to be examined when considering a control strategy for a given pest species. Four models involviing sterile male releases are examined for various stability characteristics; the models examined were: (i) a simple one stage model with no species interactions, (ii) a two life-stage model, (iii) a model involving two competing species, (iv) a model in which the pest is under predation. Of the four, the simple model was the most stable and the predation model was the least stable under continued sterile releases.  相似文献

1. Non‐native mussels have increased water clarity in many lakes and streams in North America and Europe. Diel variation in catchability of some fish species has been linked to visibility during survey trawls (used to measure escapement). 2. Water clarity increased in nearshore areas of western Lake Erie by the early 1990s, following passage of legislation in 1972 to improve water quality (e.g. reduce phosphorus loading) and the invasion of dreissenid mussels (Dreissena spp.) beginning in 1987. 3. We hypothesised that increased water clarity in Lake Erie resulted in decreased catchability of young‐of‐year (age‐0) yellow perch (Perca flavescens Mitchill) during daylight compared to during night. We used a two‐tiered modelling approach to test this hypothesis on the ratio (R) of catch per hour (CPH) during night to CPH during daylight in bottom trawl surveys conducted during 1961–2005. 4. First, we examined seven a priori models. The first model, the ‘null’ model, represented no change in R over time. Three more models tested whether the timing of the change in R was associated with passage of water quality legislation only, dreissenids only (two‐period models) and both legislation and dreissenids (three‐period models). Three additional models included a 3‐year lag before the effects of legislation, dreissenids or both occurred. Secondly, all possible two‐ and three‐period models with a minimum of 2 years per time period were explored a posteriori. The a posteriori procedure determined the temporal transitions to higher R that were best supported by the data, without regard to a priori hypotheses. 5. Night CPH was greater than daylight CPH in 3 of 11 years during 1961–72, in 10 of 15 years during 1973–87, and in 14 of 18 years during 1988–2005. During 1991–2005 night CPH exceeded daylight CPH in all years except one, and night CPH was more than twice daylight CPH in 10 years during this period. 6. The best a priori model had two periods, with a break between 1990 and 1991, corresponding to 3 years after the dreissenid invasion. Similarly, the best two‐ and three‐period a posteriori models both had breaks between 1990 and 1991. The results supported our hypothesis that age‐0 yellow perch exhibited a transition to lower catchability during daylight compared to night, and the timing of the transition coincided with the establishment of dreissenid mussels. 7. The most plausible mechanism for our results was increased visibility of the trawl during daylight, resulting in increased avoidance of the trawl. These results have potential applications wherever non‐native mussels have increased water clarity.  相似文献

Marine birds and mammals move between various habitats during the day as they engage in behaviors related to resting, sleeping, preening, feeding, and breeding. The per capita rates of movement between these habitats, and hence the habitat occupancy dynamics, often are functions of environmental variables such as tide height, solar elevation, wind speed, and temperature. If the system recovers rapidly after disturbance, differential equation models of occupancy dynamics can be reduced to algebraic equations on two time scales. Identification of environmental factors that influence movement between habitats requires time series census data collected in both the absence and presence of disturbance.  相似文献

目的:探讨目前国内外常用的三种术后认知功能障碍(Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction,POCD)诊断标准的合理性。方法:以100名中青年健康志愿者为研究对象,采用神经心理学测验测定认知功能三次,第一次测定(T0)作为基础值,第二次测定1(T1)和第三次测定(T2)分别与第一次测定间隔3d和30d。分别按照自身对比法、标准差法和Z计分法检测健康人群中T1和T2时认知功能变化程度超出正常范围的人数。以检测结果服从正态分布为判断标准。结果:完成全程测量者80人。按照三种POCD诊断标准诊断,在T1时,认知功能提高人数分别是认知功能降低人数的30倍、17倍和1倍,在T2时分别是32倍、26倍和1.5倍。结论:在采用神经心理学方法研究POCD时,用Z计分法诊断POCD比自身对比法和标准差法更能准确地反映认知功能的客观变化。  相似文献

The monophyly and phylogenetic relationships of Pseudosciaeniae have long been controversial. Here we describe the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) sequence of Collichthys niveatus. It is a circular double-stranded DNA molecule of 16,450 base pairs (bp) in length with a standard set of 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), 13 protein-coding genes as well as a non-coding control region. The mitogenome of C. niveatus shared common features with those of other bony fishes in terms of gene arrangement, base composition, and tRNA structures. The C. niveatus mitogenome exhibited pronounced strand-specific asymmetry in nucleotide composition, which was also reflected in the codon usage of genes oriented in opposite directions. Contrary to the typical structure of the control region, the central conserved blocks (CSB-D, -E, and -F) could not be detected in C. niveatus mitogenome. Phylogenetic analysis based on whole mitogenome sequences provided strong support for the monophyly of Pseudosciaeniae, and sister-group relationships of C. niveatus + Collichthys lucidus and Larimichthys crocea + Larimichthys polyactis, which was consistent with the traditional taxonomy. Unexpected divergence was found in two C. niveatus mitogenomes and several hypotheses were proposed to explain this observation including misidentification and introgressive hybridization between C. niveatus and L. polyactis, and polyphyletic origin of C. niveatus. We considered species misidentification to be the main hypothesis. However, additional data is essential to test these proposed hypotheses.  相似文献
