Abiotic stresses are among the major limiting factors for plant growth and crop productivity. Among these, salinity is one of the major risk factors for plant growth and development in arid to semi-arid regions. Cultivation of salt tolerant crop genotypes is one of the imperative approaches to meet the food demand for increasing population. The current experiment was carried out to access the performance of different rice genotypes under salinity stress and Zinc (Zn) sources. Four rice genotypes were grown in a pot experiment and were exposed to salinity stress (7 dS m−1), and Zn (15 mg kg−1 soil) was applied from two sources, ZnSO4 and Zn-EDTA. A control of both salinity and Zn was kept for comparison. Results showed that based on the biomass accumulation and K+/Na+ ratio, KSK-133 and BAS-198 emerged as salt tolerant and salt sensitive, respectively. Similarly, based on the Zn concentration, BAS-2000 was reported as Zn-in-efficient while IR-6 was a Zn-efficient genotype. Our results also revealed that plant growth, relative water content (RWC), physiological attributes including chlorophyll contents, ionic concentrations in straw and grains of all rice genotypes were decreased under salinity stress. However, salt tolerant and Zn-in-efficient rice genotypes showed significantly higher shoot K+ and Zn concentrations under saline conditions. Zinc application significantly alleviates the harmful effects of salinity by improving morpho-physiological attributes and enhancing antioxidant enzyme activities, and the uptake of K and Zn. The beneficial effect of Zn was more pronounced in salt-tolerant and Zn in-efficient rice genotypes as compared with salt-sensitive and Zn-efficient genotypes. In sum, our results confirmed that Zn application increased overall plant’s performance under saline conditions, particularly in Zn in-efficient and tolerant genotypes as compared with salt-sensitive and Zn efficient rice genotypes.  相似文献

In the era of climate change, decreased precipitation and increased evapo-transpiration hampers the yield of several cereal crops along with the soil salinity and poor ground water resource. Wheat being the moderately tolerant crop face many challenges in the arid and semi-arid regions under irrigated agriculture. In view of this, the study was planned to explore the potential of durum wheat genotypes under salinity on the basis of physiological traits. Experiment was designed as RBD in three replications to evaluate 15 wheat genotypes with moderate saline irrigation (ECiw – 6 dS m−1) and extreme saline irrigation (ECiw – 10 dS m−1) along with one set of control (Best available water). Different physiological traits such as water potential (ψp), osmotic potential (ψs), relative water content (RWC), Na+ and K+ content were recorded in roots as well as shoots at the reproductive stage whereas photosynthetic rate and chlorophyll content were measured in the flag leaves. A significant variability (p < 0.001) was noted among the genotypes under different stress environments and it was observed that durum genotype HI 8728 and HI 8737 showed less reduction in plant water traits (RWC, ψp and ψs) than the salinity tolerant checks of bread wheat KRL 99 and KRL 3–4. HD 4728 and HI 8708 maintained higher photosynthetic rate as well as higher chlorophyll content under the extreme salinity level of ECiw – 10 dSm−1. No significant differences were found in root Na+ in genotypes KRL 99 (3.17g), KRL 3–4 (3.34g) and HI 8737 (3.41g) while in shoots, lowest accumulation was seen in KRL 99, MACS 3949 and KRL 3–4 at ECiw – 10 dSm−1. The mean range of K+ content was 7.60–9.74% in roots and 4.21–6.61% in shoots under control environment which decreased to 50.77% in roots and 46.05% in shoots under extreme salinity condition of ECiw – 10 dSm−1. At ECiw – 10 dSm−1, KRL 99 maintained highest K+/Na+ in both root and shoot followed by KRL 3–4, HI 8737, MACS 3949, HD 4728 in roots and MACS 3949, KRL 3–4, MACS 4020, HD 4758, MACS 3972 and HI 8713 in shoots. The differential response of durum wheat genotypes under salinity particularly for physiological traits, confer their adaptability towards stress environments and exhibit their potential as genetic sources in breeding programs for improving salt stress tolerance.  相似文献

Twenty-five genotypes of early CIMMYT hexaploid wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were screened for salt tolerance in a glasshouse experiment at 150 mol m−3 NaCl in sand culture. The genotypes Na(20)TPP, Penjamo 62, and Inia 66 exceeded all the lines in grain yield per plant under salt stress, whereas Nainari 60 and Norin 10 were the lowest of all genotypes. However, Jaral 66 and Yaqui 54 were the lowest of all the genotypes in all growth and yield attributes. Considerable variation in accumulation of Na+ and Cl in different plant parts of 25 genotypes of early CIMMYT wheat under salt stress was observed. The genotype Noreste 66 was the lowest in leaf Na+ and Cl, and it had highest leaf K/Na ratio and K versus Na selectivity of all the genotypes, but in terms of growth and grain yield, it was moderately tolerant. The other genotype Norin 10 was the highest in leaf Na+ and Cl of all genotypes, but its leaf K/Na ratio and K versus Na selectivity were considerably low. However, in shoot biomass it was the highest and in grain yield the lowest of all genotypes. In view of phylogenetic lineage of the genotypes, most of the genotypes have evolved from Norin 10, so the trait of high uptake of Na+ and Cl in most genotypes may have been inherited from Norin 10. The ion exclusion trait in the moderately salt tolerant genotype Noreste 66 was possibly inherited from Yaqui 50 as it was the only among all putative parents which showed low uptake of toxic ions. Overall, owing to the complex nature of the salt tolerance trait being controlled by polygenes, it was not easy to draw relationships between degree of salt tolerance and pattern of uptake of toxic ions and maintenance of leaf K/Na ratios. However, from the phylogenetic lineage of the 25 genotypes it was possible to draw relationships between degree of salt tolerance and mechanism of ion uptake between parents and progeny.  相似文献

A study was conducted using ten genetically diverse genotypes along with their 45F1 (generated by diallel mating) under normal and salt stress conditions. Although, tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) is moderately sensitive to salinity but more attention to salinity is yet to be required in the production of tomato. In present study, germination rate, speed of germination, dry weight ratio and Na+/K+ ratio in root and shoot, were the parameters assayed on three salinity levels; control, 1.0 % NaCl and 3.0 % NaCl with Hoagland’s solution. Increasing salt stress negatively affected growth and development of tomato. When salt concentration increased, germination of tomato seed was reduced and the time needed to complete germination lengthened, root/shoot dry weight ratio was higher and Na+ content increased but K+ content decreased. Among the varieties, Sel-7 followed by Arka Vikas and crosses involving them as a parent were found to be the more tolerant genotypes in the present study on the basis of studied parameters.  相似文献

To keep pace with ever growing global population, progressive and sustained increase in rice production is necessary, especially in areas with extremely variable climatic conditions, where rice crop suffers from numerous abiotic stresses including salinity. Designing an effective phenotyping strategy requires thorough understanding of plant survival under stress. The investigation was carried out with four rice cultivars namely FR13A, IR42, Rashpanjor, and Pokkali that differed in salinity tolerance. The study showed that a genotype with initial vigour had some advantage in preserving shoot biomass under salt stress. Though both FR13A and IR42 showed sensitivity to salinity, FR13A with higher initial biomass maintained greater dry weight under saline condition. Increase of Na+:K+ ratio under salinity, due to accelerated absorption of Na+ and lesser absorption of K+ compared to control, was considerably higher in susceptible (118–200 %) than in tolerant (33–48 %) genotypes. While Na+ concentration in shoot increased significantly in both tolerant and susceptible genotypes, decrease in shoot K+ content was noticed only in susceptible genotypes. The imbalance of Na+ and K+ contents led to increased H2O2 production, causing greater peroxidation of membrane lipids and reduction in chlorophyll content and CO2 photosynthetic rate. Certain chlorophyll fluorescence parameters could distinguish between salinity tolerant and sensitive genotypes. To protect the plant from oxidative damage, several enzymatic and nonenzymatic antioxidants such as ascorbate were involved. The genotypes with capacity to assemble antioxidant enzymes in time could detoxify the reactive oxygen species more efficiently, leading to greater protection and reduced impact of salt stress.  相似文献

以当年生圆柏幼苗为实验材料,采用温室调控盆栽土培法研究了不同浓度NaCl(0、100、200、300mmol·L-1)胁迫21d对其生长情况及不同器官(根、茎、叶)中K~+、Na~+、Ca~(2+)和Mg~(2+)的吸收和分配的影响,以探讨圆柏幼苗对盐环境的生长适应性及耐盐机制。结果表明:(1)随着NaCl胁迫浓度的增加,圆柏幼苗生长,包括株高、地径、相对生长量以及生物量的积累均呈下降趋势,而其根冠比却增加。(2)在各浓度NaCl胁迫处理下,圆柏幼苗根、茎、叶中Na~+含量较对照均显著增加,而且叶中Na~+含量显著高于茎和根,叶中Na~+含量是根中的5倍。(3)随着NaCl胁迫浓度的升高,圆柏幼苗各器官中K~+、Ca~(2+)和Mg~(2+)含量以及K~+/Na~+、Ca~(2+)/Na~+及Mg~(2+)/Na~+比值均呈下降趋势。(4)在NaCl胁迫条件下,圆柏幼苗根系离子吸收选择性系数SK,Na、SCa,Na、SMg,Na显著提高,茎、叶离子转运选择性系数SCa,Na、SMg,Na则逐渐降低,叶中离子转运选择性系数SK,Na则随着NaCl胁迫浓度的升高显著降低,大量Na~+进入地上部,减缓了盐胁迫对根系的伤害。研究认为,圆柏幼苗的盐适应机制主要是通过根系的补偿生长效应及茎、叶对Na~+的聚积作用来实现的,同时也与根对K~+、Ca~(2+)、Mg~(2+)的选择性运输能力增强和茎、叶稳定的K~+、Ca~(2+)、Mg~(2+)的选择性运输能力有关。  相似文献

盐分胁迫不仅影响植物的生长,而且会影响植物根际微域环境。根际pH的改变对土壤养分的有效性和微生物群落组成的变化有重要影响。为了探究啤酒大麦幼苗对不同类型盐分胁迫的生理生态响应机制和根际pH变化影响的生理机制,采用水培法,通过不同类型盐分(对照、混合Na盐、混合Cl盐和NaCl)胁迫处理啤酒大麦幼苗,对其生长、离子平衡和根际pH变化进行了研究。结果表明,1)在3种不同类型盐分胁迫下,啤酒大麦幼苗地上部干重、含水量均有所降低,而根冠比增加,尤其在NaCl胁迫下啤酒大麦幼苗地上部干重较对照显著降低了17.88%,而根干重和根冠比则分别增加了19.12%和43.86%。不同类型盐分胁迫抑制了啤酒大麦幼苗根长的生长,尤其在混合Na盐胁迫下根长降低明显(P0.05),但促进了根表面积和根体积的增加,尤其在混合Cl盐胁迫下,根表面积和根体积分别增加了41.76%和84.38%。2)不同类型盐分胁迫下啤酒大麦幼苗地上部离子平衡发生改变,在混合Na盐和NaCl胁迫下啤酒大麦幼苗主要吸收Na~+,地上部K~+/Na~+、Ca~(2+)/Na~+和Mg~(2+)/Na~+显著降低;混合Cl盐和NaCl胁迫下则过量吸收Cl~-,抑制了H_2PO_4~-、NO_3~-和SO_4~(2-)的吸收。3)在混合Na盐、混合Cl盐和NaCl盐分胁迫下,啤酒大麦幼苗对阴离子的吸收总量高于对阳离子的吸收总量,离子平衡计算结果表明根际呈碱化现象,与原位显色结果一致,且在混合Cl盐胁迫下根际碱化程度最大。  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanisms underlying alleviation of salt stress by mycorrhization. Solanum lycopersicum L. cultivars Behta and Piazar with different salinity tolerance were cultivated in soil without salt (EC?=?0.63 dSm?1), with low (EC?=?5 dSm?1), or high (EC?=?10 dSm?1) salinity. Plants inoculated with the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi Glomus intraradices (+AMF) were compared to non-inoculated plants (?AMF). Under salinity, AMF-mediated growth stimulation was higher in more salt tolerant Piazar than in sensitive Behta. Mycorrhization alleviated salt-induced reduction of P, Ca, and K uptake. Ca/Na and K/Na ratios were also better in +AMF. However, growth improvement by AMF was independent from plant P nutrition under high salinity. Mycorrhization improved the net assimilation rates through both elevating stomatal conductance and protecting photochemical processes of PSII against salinity. Higher activity of ROS scavenging enzymes was concomitant with lowering of H2O2, less lipid peroxidation, and higher proline in +AMF. Cultivar differences in growth responses to salinity and mycorrhization could be well explained by differences in ion balance, photochemistry, and gas exchange of leaves. Function of antioxidant defenses seemed responsible for different AMF-responsiveness of cultivars under salinity. In conclusion, AMF may protect plants against salinity by alleviating the salt-induced oxidative stress.  相似文献

Ion homeostasis is considered to be one of the most important mechanisms underlying salt stress tolerance. We used the Steptoe × Morex barley doubled haploid population to screen for genetic variation in response to salinity stress at an early development stage in a hydroponics system, focusing on ion homeostasis. Salinity induced a strong adverse effect on growth of the parents and their derived population, with Steptoe as the more tolerant parent. Steptoe maintained higher concentrations of K+, Na+ and Cl? in the roots and a similar shoot/root ion ratio (<1) under stress conditions compared to control conditions. In contrast, Morex had higher concentrations of these ions in the shoots under stress and a doubled shoot/root ion ratio relative to control conditions, indicating that salt exclusion might contribute to the higher tolerance of Steptoe. Correlation and path analysis demonstrated that shoot Cl? contents most strongly affected salt tolerance and suggest that both Na+ and Cl? contents are important for salinity stress tolerance in barley. We identified 11 chromosomal regions involved in the control of the variation observed for salt tolerance and various salt stress response traits, including Na+, Cl? and K+ contents in shoots. Two specific regions on chromosomes 2H and 3H were found controlling ion contents and salt tolerance, pointing to genes involved in ion homeostasis that contribute to salt tolerance.  相似文献

Disease-free sugarcane plantlets of 11 cultivars derived from meristem cuttings were photoautotrophically grown on the MS medium and subsequently exposed to 0 (control) or 200?mM NaCl (salt stress) for 14?days. Sodium ion (Na+) in all sugarcane varieties was enriched when plantlets were subjected to 200?mM NaCl, except K88-1. Chlorophyll a (Chla), chlorophyll b (Chlb) and total carotenoids (Cx+c), in the salt stressed leaves of all genotypes decreased significantly, but the extent of decrease was variable among different genotypes. In contrast, proline content in salt stressed plantlets of all sugarcane genotypes increased markedly, except in genotypes K95, K92-2 and LK92-4. Maximum quantum yield of PSII (Fv/Fm), photon yield of PSII (??PSII), quantum efficiency of PSII (qP) and net photosynthetic rate (Pn) in salt stressed plantlets of all genotypes were significantly dropped, whereas ??PSII and qP in cv. KK88-1 were alleviated, resulting in improved Pn. Moreover, growth parameters including shoot height, root length, fresh weight, dry weight and leaf area in salt stressed plantlets of all genotypes were significantly inhibited. The Na+ accumulation, pigment degradation, proline accumulation, photosynthetic abilities and growth inhibition in saline regimes were subjected to Hierarchical cluster analysis. Salt tolerant, K88-1 and UT94-7 and salt susceptible, K92-2 and LK92-4 classes of sugarcane genotypes were classified. The salt tolerant cultivars may be further studied including yield, sugar content and ratoon recovery rate in saline field trials.  相似文献

Control of ion loading into the xylem has been repeatedly named as a crucial factor determining plant salt tolerance. In this study we further investigate this issue by applying a range of biophysical [the microelectrode ion flux measurement (MIFE) technique for non‐invasive ion flux measurements, the patch clamp technique, membrane potential measurements] and physiological (xylem sap and tissue nutrient analysis, photosynthetic characteristics, stomatal conductance) techniques to barley varieties contrasting in their salt tolerance. We report that restricting Na+ loading into the xylem is not essential for conferring salinity tolerance in barley, with tolerant varieties showing xylem Na+ concentrations at least as high as those of sensitive ones. At the same time, tolerant genotypes are capable of maintaining higher xylem K+/Na+ ratios and efficiently sequester the accumulated Na+ in leaves. The former is achieved by more efficient loading of K+ into the xylem. We argue that the observed increases in xylem K+ and Na+ concentrations in tolerant genotypes are required for efficient osmotic adjustment, needed to support leaf expansion growth. We also provide evidence that K+‐permeable voltage‐sensitive channels are involved in xylem loading and operate in a feedback manner to maintain a constant K+/Na+ ratio in the xylem sap.  相似文献

Salinity stress is a major factor limiting plant growth and productivity of many crops including oilseed. The present study investigated the identification of salt tolerant mustard genotypes and better understanding the mechanism of salinity tolerance. Salt stresses significantly reduced relative water content (RWC), chlorophyll (Chl) content, K+ and K+ /Na+ ratio, photosynthetic rate (PN), transpiration rate (Tr), stomatal conductance (gs), intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci) and increased the levels of proline (Pro) and lipid peroxidation (MDA) contents, Na+ , superoxide (O2•− ) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in both tolerant and sensitive mustard genotypes. The tolerant genotypes maintained higher Pro and lower MDA content than the salt sensitive genotypes under stress condition. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), monodehydroascorbate reductase (MDHAR) and dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR) were increased with increasing salinity in salt tolerant genotypes, BJ-1603, BARI Sarisha-11 and BARI Sarisha-16, but the activities were unchanged in salt sensitive genotype, BARI Sarisha-14. Besides, the increment of ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activity was higher in salt sensitive genotype as compared to tolerant ones. However, the activities of glutathione reductase (GR) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) were increased sharply at stress conditions in tolerant genotypes as compared to sensitive genotype. Higher accumulation of Pro along with improved physiological and biochemical parameters as well as reduced oxidative damage by up-regulation of antioxidant defense system are the mechanisms of salt tolerance in selected mustard genotypes, BJ-1603 and BARI Sarisha-16.  相似文献

This study evaluated effects of foliar spraying 24‐epibrassinoide (24‐EBL) on the growth of salt‐stressed canola. Seedlings at the four‐leaf stage were treated with 150 mm NaCl and different concentrations of 24‐EBL (10?6, 10?8, 10?10, 10?12 m ) for 15 days. A concentration of 10?10 m 24‐EBL was chosen as optimal and used in a subsequent experiment on plant biomass and leaf water potential parameters. The results showed that 24‐EBL mainly promoted shoot growth of salt‐stressed plants and also ameliorated leaf water status. Foliar spraying of salt‐stressed canola with 24‐EBL increased osmotic adjustment ability in all organs, especially in younger leaves and roots. This was mainly due to an increase of free amino acid content in upper leaves, soluble sugars in middle leaves, organic acids and proline in lower leaves, all of these compounds in roots, as well as essential inorganic ions. Na+ and Cl? sharply increased in different organs under salt stress, and 24‐EBL reduced their accumulation. 24‐EBL improved the uptake of K+, Ca2+, Mg2+ and NO3? in roots, which were mainly transported to upper leaves, while NO3? was mainly transported to middle leaves. Thus, 24‐EBL improvements in ion homeostasis of K+/Na+, Ca2+/Na+, Mg2+/Na+ and NO3?/Cl?, especially in younger leaves and roots, could be explained. As most important parts, younger leaves and roots were the main organs protected by 24‐EBL via improvement in osmotic adjustment ability and ion homeostasis. Further, physiological status of growth of salt‐stressed canola was ameliorated after 24‐EBL treatment.  相似文献

Total ion (Na+, K+, Ca2+, SO4 2? and Cl?) accumulation by plants, ion contents in plant tissues and ion secretion by salt glands on the surface of shoots of Tamarix ramosissima adapted to different soil salinity, namely low (0.06 mmol Na+/g soil), moderate (3.14–4.85 mmol Na+/g soil) and strong (7.56 mmol Na+/g soil) were analyzed. There are two stages of interrelated and complementary regulation of ion homeostasis in whole T. ramosissima plants: (1) regulation of ion influx into the plant from the soil and (2) changing the secretion efficiency of salt glands on shoots. The secretion efficiency of salt glands was appraised by the ratio of ion secretion to tissue ion content. Independent of soil salinity, the accumulation of K+ and Ca2+ was higher than the contents of these ions in the soil. Furthermore, the accumulation of K+, Ca2+ and SO4 2? ions by plants was maintained within a narrow range of values. Under low soil salinity, Na+ was accumulated, whereas under moderate and strong salinity, the influxes of Na+ were limited. However, under strong salinity, the accumulation of Na+ was threefold higher than that under low soil salinity. This led to a change in the Na+/K+ ratio (tenfold), an increase in the activity of salt glands (tenfold) and a reduction in plant growth (fivefold). An apparently high Na+/K+ ratio was the main factor determining over-active functioning of salt glands under strong salinity. Principal component analysis showed that K+ ions played a key role in ion homeostasis at all levels of salinity. Ca2+ played a significant role at low salinity, whereas Cl? and interrelated regulatory components (K+ and proline) played a role under strong salinity. Proline, despite its low concentration under strong salinity, was involved in the regulation of secretion by salt glands. Different stages and mechanisms of ion homeostasis were dominant in T. ramosissima plants adapted to different levels of salinity. These mechanisms facilitated the accumulation of Na+ in plants under low soil salinity, the limitation of Na+ under moderate salinity and the over-activation of Na+ secretion by salt glands under strong salinity, which are all necessary for maintaining ion homeostasis and water potential in the whole plant.  相似文献

研究盐胁迫下3个品种平欧杂种榛幼苗叶片解剖结构和离子代谢特征,以揭示盐胁迫响应与适应机制及不同品种的耐盐性差异。以‘达维’、‘辽榛7号’、‘玉坠’2年生压条苗为材料,在盆栽条件下经轻度、中度、重度(分别为50、100、200 mmol/L NaCl)盐胁迫处理,设对照为0,研究幼苗叶片显微解剖结构参数和Na~+、K~+、Cl~-、Ca2+含量的变化及其在根、茎、叶中的吸收、运输和分配特征。不同品种平欧杂种榛叶片厚度、上表皮厚度、下表皮厚度、栅栏组织和海绵组织厚度随着盐胁迫程度的增强呈现出先增加后降低的特点,轻度和中度胁迫下各参数显著高于对照。中度盐胁迫显著提高了各品种叶片结构紧密度。盐胁迫导致平欧杂种榛根、茎、叶Na~+和Cl~-含量明显高于对照。盐胁迫下,Na~+和Cl~-在叶中的绝对含量明显高于茎和根,但二者的增幅以根中最大,叶中最小,表明平欧杂种榛根系首先会吸收并截留一定数量的Na~+和Cl~-,然后将其运输至茎和叶中。与对照相比,轻度和中度盐胁迫下根、茎对K~+和Ca2+的吸收保持稳定或减少,叶对K~+和Ca2+...  相似文献

The influence of NaCl and Na2SO4 on growth of two maize cultivars (Zea mays cv. Pioneer 3906 and cv. Across 8023) differing in Na+ uptake was investigated in two green-house experiments. Na+ treatment with different accompanying anions (Cl?/SO42?) showed that ion toxicity was caused by Na+. While shoot growth of the two cultivars was markedly affected by salt in comparison to the control during the first 2–3 weeks, there were only slight differences between the cultivars. The shoot Ca2+ concentration was reduced in both cultivars, and the youngest leaves contained an even lower concentration compared with the rest of the shoot. During this first phase, Across 8023 tended to have higher concentrations of Ca2+ than Pioneer 3906. The Na+-excluding cultivar Pioneer 3906 showed continuous, although reduced, growth compared with the control, while the Na+ concentration in the shoot decreased until flowering. Cultivar Across 8023 accumulated Na+ until flowering: the reduction in the growth of stressed plants was greater than that for Pioneer 3906. Leaves of cultivar Across 8023 showed clear toxic symptoms, while those of the more salt-tolerant cultivar Pioneer 3906 did not. 沙枣(Elaeagnus angustifolia L.)耐盐性强,是我国北方生态脆弱地区造林绿化的一个先锋树种。为探讨沙枣的盐适应机制,研究了不同浓度NaCl(0、100和200 mmol/L)胁迫30d对其水培幼苗生物量累积以及不同组织(根、茎、叶)K+、Na+、Ca2+和Mg2+吸收、运输与分配的影响。结果表明:盐胁迫不同程度地促进了沙枣苗根系生长;100 mmol/L NaCl胁迫对幼苗生物量累积无明显影响,而200 mmol/L则显著抑制了生物量累积;盐胁迫幼苗根、茎、叶中Na+含量以及K+-Na+选择性运输系数(S K,Na)和Ca2+-Na+选择性运输系数(S Ca,Na)显著或大幅度增加,而K+、Ca2+、Mg2+含量以及K+/Na+、Ca2+/Na+和Mg2+/Na+比值则显著或大幅度下降;200 mmol/L NaCl胁迫沙枣根Na+含量和根Na+净累积量分别为22.15 mg/g干重和1.87 mg/株(是对照的16.20倍和20.06倍),根成为Na+净累积量增加幅度最大的组织和Na+含量最高的组织;200 mmol/L NaCl胁迫沙枣茎、叶中的Na+含量以及冠组织Na+净累积量分别高达5.15、7.71 mg/g干重和3.29 mg/株(是对照的7.22倍、9.58倍和5.45倍),但幼苗仍能正常生长。综合分析认为,沙枣的盐适应机制是根系拒盐和冠组织耐盐,主要通过根系的补偿生长效应、根系对Na+的聚积与限制作用以及冠组织对Na+的忍耐来实现的,同时也与根、茎和叶对K+、Ca2+选择性运输能力显著增强有关。  相似文献

Salt sensitivity in chickpea is determined by Na+ toxicity, whereas relatively high leaf tissue concentrations of Cl? were tolerated, and the osmotic component of 60-mM NaCl was not detrimental.Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is sensitive to salinity. This study dissected the responses of chickpea to osmotic and ionic components (Na+ and/or Cl?) of salt stress. Two genotypes with contrasting salt tolerances were exposed to osmotic treatments (?0.16 and ?0.29 MPa), Na+-salts, Cl?-salts, or NaCl at 0, 30, or 60 mM for 42 days and growth, tissue ion concentrations and leaf gas-exchange were assessed. The osmotic treatments and Cl?-salts did not affect growth, whereas Na+-salts and NaCl treatments equally impaired growth in either genotype. Shoot Na+ and Cl? concentrations had markedly increased, whereas shoot K+ had declined in the NaCl treatments, but both genotypes had similar shoot concentrations of each of these individual ions after 14 and 28 days of treatments. Genesis836 achieved higher net photosynthetic rate (64–84 % of control) compared with Rupali (35–56 % of control) at equivalent leaf Na+ concentrations. We conclude that (1) salt sensitivity in chickpea is determined by Na+ toxicity, and (2) the two contrasting genotypes appear to differ in ‘tissue tolerance’ of high Na+. This study provides a basis for focus on Na+ tolerance traits for future varietal improvement programs for salinity tolerance in chickpea.

Physiological responses to salt stress were studied in two cotton cultivars previously selected on the basis of growth under salinity. Plants were grown in nutrient solutions under controlled conditions. In the first experiment, the genotypes were grown at different salt concentrations (0, 100 and 200 mt M NaCl) and growth rates, water contents and ion accumulation were determined. In a second experiment, both genotypes were grown at the same salt concentration (200 mt M NaCl). Dry matter partitioning in individual leaves, stem and roots, water contents, specific leaf area (SLA), ion accumulation (K+, Na+, Cl) and leaf water potentials were measured. Finally, an experiment with low salt levels (2.7 and 27 mt M NaCl) was run to compare K and Na+ uptake and distribution.There were no differences in growth between the cultivars in the absence of salt stress, whereas under stress genotype Z407 had higher leaf area and dry matter accumulation than P792. Leaf water potential and leaf water content were lower in cv P792 than in cv Z407. There were no significant differences in the levels of Cl accumulation between genotypes. The main feature of the tolerant genotype (Z407) was a higher accumulation of Na+ in leaves and an apparent capacity for K+ redistribution to younger leaves.We postulate that the higher tolerance in Z407 is the result of several traits such as a higher Na+ uptake and water content. Adaptation through adequate, but tightly controlled ion uptake, typical of some halophytes, matched with efficient ion compartmentation and redistribution, would result in an improved water uptake capacity under salt stress and lead to maintenance of higher growth rates.  相似文献

Salinity stress includes both osmotic and ionic toxicity. Sodium homeostasis is influenced by Na+ uptake and extrusion, vacuolar Na+ compartmentation and root to shoot Na+ translocation via transpiration. The knockout mutant of the Arabidopsis heterotrimeric G‐protein Gβ subunit, agb1, is hypersensitive to salt, exhibiting a leaf bleaching phenotype. We show that AGB1 is mainly involved in the ionic toxicity component of salinity stress and plays roles in multiple processes of Na+ homeostasis. agb1 mutants accumulate more Na+ and less K+ in both shoots and roots of hydroponically grown plants, as measured by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. agb1 plants have higher root to shoot translocation rates of radiolabelled 24Na+ under transpiring conditions, as a result of larger stomatal apertures and increased stomatal conductance. 24Na+ tracer experiments also show that 24Na+ uptake rates by excised roots of agb1 and wild type are initially equal, but that agb1 has higher net Na+ uptake at 90 min, implicating possible involvement of AGB1 in the regulation of Na+ efflux. Calcium alleviates the salt hypersensitivity of agb1 by reducing Na+ accumulation to below the toxicity threshold. Our results provide new insights into the regulatory pathways underlying plant responses to salinity stress, an important agricultural problem.  相似文献
