Gymnodinioides kozloffi n. sp. is described from the eelgrass broken-back shrimp Hippolyte zostericola. The species is distinct from others in the apostome genus Gymnodinioides in that the trophont ciliature has a small group of kinetosomes located to the right of Kinety 9a, and Kinety 1 and 2 are divided. Other apostome morphologies are described from many decapod crustaceans from St. Andrew Bay, Florida, including Gymnodinioides inkystans, Hyalophysa chattoni, and variants of both H. chattoni and G. kozloffi. All of these apostome ciliates are exuviotrophic, found feeding on exuvial fluid within the exoskeleton of the host after ecdysis. The hosts surveyed for this study are the following: Callinectes sapidus, Eurypanopeus depressus, Hippolyte zostericola, Farfantepenaeus spp., Palaemonetes intermedius, Palaemon floridanus, Portunus spp., Tozeuma carolinense, and Sicyonia laevigata, which revealed a number of new host-apostome records.  相似文献

A new species of apostome ciliate, Gymnodinioides pacifica n. sp. from the euphausiid Euphausia pacifica is described. The ciliated protozoan encysts on the setae of the appendages, telson and antennae. It excysts and enters the exoskeleton of the host after moulting, where it feeds on exuvial fluid. The phoront and trophont stages of this ciliate are described. The ciliature of the trophont has the following characteristics that distinguish it from the other species of Gymnodinioides: (1) a short kinety 9a (ciliary row 9a or K9a), approximately half of the length of falciform field 8, that extends from the anterior end of the cell posteriorly to the level of K1, (2) a straight K5a, perpendicular to K5b, K6, and K7, and (3) two distinct bands of kineties, K9b-K5b and K4-K1. In addition to those on the host E. pacifica, phoront cysts of similar shape were observed on Thysanoessa spinifera, T. gregaria, T. inspinata, T. longipes, and Nematoscelis difficilis. High prevalence rates were recorded (83%) for these apostome cysts on E. pacifica and T. spinifera during summer collections from the Oregon and Washington coasts. Additionally, we report other apostome ciliate symbionts of euphausiids, including Phtorophrya sp., which preys on apostomes in the genus Gymnodinioides.  相似文献

The apostome genus, Hyalophysa, is a symbiont on most littoral decapods in the US, but no other crustacean orders have been investigated. When exuvia of the amphipod Marinogammarus obtusatus were examined, they contained swimming trophonts whose characteristics revealed by Chatton–Lwoff stains describe a new species of Gymnodinioides. Its unique characteristic is the retention in the trophont of a polykinety similar to the falciform field of the tomite, the non-feeding, migratory microstome stage common to apostome genera. The trophont's anterior pattern of kineties also resembles that of the tomite. Speculations that speciation in Gymnodinioides may result from isolation on different hosts, changes in the internal feeding apparatus, delays or mishaps during morphogenesis, or habitat changes affecting the host must consider the case of G. pitelkae. The tomite may not respond to the signals from its premoult host to change to the macrostome infraciliature although the feeding apparatus is formed.  相似文献

Phoretic stages of the exuviotrophic apostome Gymnodinioides pacifica were examined using transmission and scanning electron microscopy (TEM and SEM). TEM revealed that the mature cyst wall possesses 2 or 3 layers differing by the presence or absence of the third inner layer. This inner layer may represent a different form of the middle wall material. The inner cyst layer is approximately 0.15 microm thick and has striations with a periodicity of approximately 19 nm. The middle cyst layer has a variable thickness and the outer dense layer is approximately 0.1 microm thick. The 3 layered cyst wall had a thickness of 0.3-0.7 microm and averaged 0.5 microm. Advanced phoront stages were enclosed by fully formed cyst walls or by cyst walls thinned to approximately 0.1 microm, as the phoronts prepared to excyst prior to host ecdysis. Additionally, we report the fine structure of the rosette, trichocysts, nuclei, food plaquettes, oral fiber, and other cytoplasmic inclusions. SEM revealed an outer cyst wall layer connected to the secreted peduncle material, which was observed to extend over a wide (15 microm) area on the host setae. The apostome family Colliniidae includes species that are adapted to the hemocoel/blood of various invertebrates, particularly crustaceans. To explore the phylogeny of these sanguicolous apostomes, Metacollinia luciensis was collected in August 2015 at Roscoff from the amphipod host, Orchestia gammarellus. Ciliates were Protargol stained and DNA was extracted. The small subunit rRNA (SSUrRNA) and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (cox1) genes were amplified. Molecular phylogenetic analyses of the SSUrRNA genes unambiguously grouped M. luciensis with other apostomes with robust bootstrap support, but separated it distinctly from the pseudocolliniid clade. While there are only cox1 sequences for a subset of these apostomes, M. luciensis was also distant from the pseudocolliniids and separated from them by species of the exuviotrophic apostome Hyalophysa. These results confirm the distinctness of the families Colliniidae and Pseudocolliniidae.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Hyalophysa chattoni Bradbury, Hyalophysa Iwoffi Bradbury & Clamp, and Gymnodinioides inkystans Minkiewicz are found on species of palaemonids, astacurans, grapsid crabs, ocypodids, anomurans, and portunids in coastal North Carolina. Hyalophysa trageri sp. n. is described from species of Uca and Sesarma. Its life cycle is like that of other exuviotrophic apostomes. Hyalophysa trageri differs from other species in the genus in the pattern of its infraciliature and the shape of the macronucleus during the trophont stage.
In coastal North Carolina, H. chattoni is euryhaline and infests a great number of species. Hyalophysa Iwoffi is found in many locations on the freshwater shrimp Palaemonetes paludosus (Gibbes), and in one location on the crayfish Cambarus sp. Hyalophysa trageri is the most limited in range, being found only on semiterrestrial crabs. On some host species G. inkystans is found alone, but is sympatric with Hyalophysa on others.
Possible factors restricting the distribution of these apostomes are discussed. These include the structure of their encysted stages, salinity, and the behavior of their hosts.  相似文献

An apostome ciliate, Collinia oregonensis n. sp., is reported inhabiting the cephalothorax and abdomen of 3 euphausiid species from the Oregon-Washington coast: Euphausia pacifica Hansen, 1911, Thysanoessa spinifera Holmes, 1900, and Thysanoessa gregaria G.O. Sars, 1883. This ciliate is the 7th species described for the genus Collinia and the 2nd species known to infect euphausiids. Disease progression and ciliate morphology are described using (1) modified protargol stain, (2) hematoxylin counterstained with Fast Green, and (3) Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). All endoparasitic developmental stages (trophont, tomont, tomitogenesis, protomite, and tomite) of C. oregonensis are astomatous and possess between 14 and 22 kineties. C. oregonensis is smaller than C. beringensis Capriulo & Small, 1986, which infects the euphausiid Thysanoessa inermis Kr?yer, 1846 in the Bering Sea and which possesses between 24 and 80 kineties. The ciliate is a parasitoid because it must kill the host to complete its life cycle. Infections and mortalities in multiple host species likely reflect the virulent nature of the ciliate. Adult euphausiids infected with this parasitoid possess a swollen and bright orange cephalothorax. C. oregonensis feeds and proliferates inside euphausiids, producing fulminating infections that rupture the cephalothorax and release large numbers of tomites into the surrounding water. After several hours in the free swimming stage under shipboard conditions in the present study, the tomites adhered to each other, forming filaments. Infection rates ranged between 3 and 20% within individual euphausiid aggregations, but infected aggregations were randomly and sparingly distributed. Infected euphausiids were found at 6.7% of 316 stations sampled during 3 summer cruises. No infected euphausiids were collected in winter. Because E. pacifica and T. spinifera account for about 90% of the euphausiid standing stock in the northern California Current System, this parasitoid ciliate may have a significant impact on euphausiid population abundance, distribution and secondary productivity.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. The histophagous apostome. l'ampyrophrya pelagica , occurs on calanoid copepods in North Carolina. Its life cycle has two pathways: one when the copepod host is injured; the other when the host is ingested by an invertebrate predator. The ciliate, immediately after encysting on a copepod. metamorphoses to a feeding stage. When its host is injured or ingested by a predator, it excysts enters the wound and ingests the host's cytoplasm. In the single-host life cycle, after feeding, the ciliate encysts within the cadaver; in the two-host life cycle, after feeding it encysts upon a substrate. Encysted cells divide into 2–32 migratory tomites. Freed tomites are motionless in the water column until the water is disturbed, at which time they spring in the direction of any vibration, which many times results from a feeding copepod. Tomites select specific hosts, since not all species of copepods are infested. We hypothesize that the single-host life cycle yields many tomites that heavily infest hosts at random, and passage through the predator (two-host life cycle) results in fewer, but more widely dispersed tomites that are released continuously. The two-host life cycle is facultative for the individual, but may be obligate for the continuation of the species.  相似文献

【目的】本研究旨在探讨DNA条形码对中国蛛缘蝽科(半翅目:缘蝽总科)物种界定的适用性。【方法】对中国蛛缘蝽科13属23种207个样本的线粒体COI基因DNA条形码序列进行扩增,并扩增稻缘蝽属Leptocorisa 3个物种的31条内转录间隔区1(ITS-1)序列作为辅助标记。使用MEGA 11软件计算种间和种内遗传距离(Kimura 2-parameter, K2P);采用邻接法(neighbor-joining, NJ)进行物种聚类分析;利用中介邻接网络算法构建单倍型网络图。【结果】基于线粒体COI DNA条形码序列得出测试的中国蛛缘蝽科所有23个种的种内平均K2P距离在2%以下,种间K2P距离在0.98%~23.98%之间(平均17.50%)。多数物种彼此能够被较好地分开,且支持率较高。其中,中稻缘蝽Leptocorisa chinensis和大稻缘蝽L. oratoria共享部分COI单倍型,造成COI条形码无法区分二者,可通过ITS-1序列在单倍型网络分析中将二者区分。【结论】本研究得出的中国蛛缘蝽科中绝大部分物种的DNA条形码数据分析结果与基于形态特征的分类单元一致。然而,对于其中亲缘关系极近的物种,单靠线粒体数据尤其是COI条形码序列无法进行准确界定,需引入其他DNA序列或其他类型数据进行区分。  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Terebrospira chattoni sp. n. may be a species in transition between ectosymbiosis and endosymbiosis. It penetrates the epicuticle of Palaemonetes pugio and feeds on the endocuticle by dissolving galleries through it and absorbing the products of dissolution. Although similar in some respects to species of the endosymbiotic apostome genus Synophrya, T. chattoni is clearly related to ectosymbiotic apostomes that feed on exuvial fluid. However, instead of stimulating the metamorphosis of a phoront to a trophont, the host's ecdysis stimulates T. chattoni to metamorphose from a dedifferentiated trophont with 13 meridional kineties to a protomont, a predivision stage with 10 spiralled kineties. The protomont encysts and dedifferentiates to the division stage, an orthotomont with 13 kineties, either on the new exoskeleton before ecdysis, within a chamber in the endocuticle of the old exoskeleton, or on a substrate away from the host and the molt. The site of division determines the product of the division. On the new exoskeleton, the tomites in the reproductive cyst secrete walls around themselves thereby forming the lenticular, compartmented cysts characteristic of Terebrospira. Each daughter tunnels out of its compartment into the endocuticle. Although its infraciliature remains undifferentiated like that of the orthotomont, the ciliate in the gallery is the trophont, the only feeding stage in the life cycle. Daughters originating from the division of the orthotomont in a chamber in the endocuticle swim out of the exoskeleton at ecdysis. encyst on the substrate, and presumably form tomites. When the protomont itself leaves the molt, it encysts on the substrate and divides to form daughter cells with a rosette and the pattern of ciliature of the conventional tomite of other apostome genera. Tomites carry the infection to new hosts while compartmented cysts insure that the original host retains the infection. Terebrospira chattoni is always astomatous, although a dedifferentiated oral ciliature appears in the orthotomont and persists in the trophont. Terebrospira chattoni sp. n. is separated from T. lenticularis Debaisieux the other species in the genus because the latter species may divide outside a cyst and because T. chattoni has an extra reproductive stage in its life cycle.  相似文献

参考翼手目动物分类学和分子系统学的最新研究成果, 在《贵州兽类志》的基础上, 结合近年来有关翼手类研究的资料, 对贵州省翼手类名录进行整理, 并列出了贵州省翼手类的分布地点。截止到2015年10月31日, 贵州省共有蝙蝠7科17属51种, 占中国现有蝙蝠种类(134种)的38.1%。其中, 我国特有种8种(贵州特有种2种)。与《贵州兽类志》中记载的翼手类相比, 增加了14种, 3个物种未被列入, 更改了10个物种的名称。按照中国动物地理区划, 贵州省蝙蝠以东洋界种类占绝对优势, 共有42种, 古北界种类仅2种, 广布种7种。列入IUCN红色名录各濒危等级的有44种, 列入《中国脊椎动物红色名录》的有48种。  相似文献

The fall webworm, Hyphantria cunea (Drury) (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae), is an invasive and important pest in China. Investigations on insect natural enemies have been conducted from 1996 to 1999 in five provinces and one municipality of China in order to select effective species for biological control. Two carabid predators (Coleoptera) and 25 parasitoid species were found, among which 23 were parasitic wasps (Hymenoptera), including five hyperparasitic species and two tachinid flies (Diptera). The two carabids preyed on young larvae inside webs, two braconid wasps parasitized larvae, and 18 parasitoid species attacked the fall webworm during the pupal and/or 'larval-pupal' stages. Among these parasitoids, there were one genus and nine species that are new to science and four species new to China, which were described and published by the senior author Yang. The average parasitism rates of fall webworm pupae were 25.8% and 16.1% in the overwintering generation and the first generation (summer generation), respectively. These findings reveal that these natural enemies play an important role in the natural control of the pest. Chouioia cunea Yang (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), a gregarious pupal endo-parasitoid, was recommended as a promising biological control agent against the fall webworm in China.  相似文献

鸮形目Strigiformes鸟类是一类适应夜行性生活的猛禽,主要于夜间活动,体色暗而斑驳,难于直接观察。我国关于鸮类分类的研究报道并不多见,长期沿用的一些种属名和目前国际上通用的相比已显陈旧。通过参阅相关文献,对我国现生鸮形目鸟类的分类系统进行了整理,计有2科12属33种。并指出需要迫切关注的物种和研究内容,其中毛脚渔鸮Bubo blakistoni为濒危种,四川林鸮Strixdavidi为易危种且是我国特有种,这两种鸮类国内相关报道罕见,亟待开展进一步研究工作以加强对这两个物种的保护管理。鬼鸮甘肃亚种Aegolius funereus beickianus的分类地位仍存在争议。鸮类的声学研究在我国几乎一片空白,鸮类的繁殖生物学研究也需要引起我国鸟类学工作者的足够重视。  相似文献
