Summary The present study offers the picture of crystal formation in cultures of dermatophytes photographed in white light. Isometric and anisometric crystal forms are profusely depicted. Pranks and mimics of crystal forms are pointed out. Photomicrographic data are given.
Zusammenfassung In der vorliegenden Untersuchung wird das Bild der Krystallbildung in Dermatophytenkulturen in weissem Licht dargestellt. Isometrische und anisometrische Krystallformen werden reichlich illustriert. Auf Streiche und Nachahmungen der Krystallformen wird hingewiesen. Photomikrographische Daten sind gegeben.

Résumé La présente étude offre le tableau des formations des crystaux des dermatophytes photographiées en lumière blanche. Des formes isométriques et anisométriques des crystaux ont été illustrées abondamment. Des coups et des mimiques des crystaux sont présentés. Les données photomicrographiques ont été élucidées.

Summary The dorsal tegument of the mature cercaria of Notocotylus attenuatus is a syncytial, cytoplasmic layer, containing two types of secretory granule which are identifiable ultrastructurally. The type 1 secretory bodies are electron lucid, whereas most type 2 granules have a banded appearance. The ventral tegument contains granules which are secreted from the type 3 cells; the type 3 granules are membrane bound, electron dense, and consist of both an amorphous and a finely striated zone. The type 4 cells mainly contain cigar-shaped granules consisting of an amorphous core surrounded by concentric striations. The granules exhibit structural variability in shape and content. The type 4 cells undergo a cellular migration to the tegument during encystment. The structure of the posterior-lateral glands and mode of secretion of the granules are described. Possible functions of microtubules are discussed for each cell type. Details of some secretory processes involved in the formation of the hemispherical cyst wall are described. The layers of the cyst wall may be related to the granular contents of the various parenchymal cells of the cercaria. The tegument of the metacercaria originates primarily from the cytoplasm of the type 1, type 2, type 3 and type 4 cells.  相似文献

In a previous study, cDNA microsatellite markers were described in apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.). Specific PCR primers were designed to amplify the microsatellite-containing regions from genomic DNA in different Prunus species. In the present work, cDNA microsatellite markers were developed in the hexaploid Prunus domestica L. species and polymorphism was ascertained in a segregating plum population. Co-dominant mendelian segregation of alleles was demonstrated and microsatellite polymorphism displayed up to 6 alleles per SSR locus per individual. Parentage lineage of three full-sib European plum cultivars (cv. Cacanska najbolja, Cacanska rana and Cacanska lepotica) was reconstructed by the analysis of the above nuclear SSR markers, completed by four chloroplastic microsatellite loci. The six most informative nuclear loci enabled discrimination between the three Cacak cultivars and unrelated individuals as well as the previously proposed parents, Wangenheim and Pozegaca. Data obtained support previous evidence that these cultivars originated from the Stanley cultivar. However, SSR analysis finally excluded Wangenheim as the other possible parent. Based on the results obtained with nuclear and chloroplast SSR loci, we propose the origin of those three Cacak cultivars in a cross between Stanley as the mother plant and Ruth gerstetter as the pollinator. Furthermore, we demonstrate the utility of these apricot SSR markers for genotype fingerprinting of the hexaploid plum cultivars.  相似文献

Primers were developed for 118 microsatellites isolated from grape (Vitis vinifera) genomic libraries enriched for (AC)n repeats. Only one microsatellite sequence matched other grape SSR-sequences in the GeneBank database. Genotyping was carried out in the parental lines and four offspring of two pseudo-test-cross populations, Cabernet Sauvignon x Seyval and Chardonnay x Bianca, and a further six other grape genotypes (V. vinifera Sultanina, Merlot, Syrah, Müller-Thurgau, Vitis Regent and V. riparia Gloire de Montpellier). A total of 108 microsatellites showed easily scorable alleles and 100 of them segregated according to a configuration suitable for mapping in either cross. A further 8 SSRs, although unsuitable for mapping in those crosses, showed polymorphism in the other genotypes tested. This set of markers was used, along with 75 microsatellites of other repeat-types, to fingerprint 46 offspring of the cross Chardonnay x Bianca. For each full-sib, individual heterozygosity and distance in repeat units between pairs of alleles at each locus (mean d2) were calculated as a tool for predicting highly outbred recombinant individuals. Six microsatellites with segregation ratios significantly distorted towards the lack of homozygous sibs were identified and mapped to linkage groups LG 3 and LG 5. Estimation of heterozygosity at genome-wide level and genotyping at loci for which homozygous sibs are discriminated against are discussed for marker-assisted background selection in outcrossing grapevines.  相似文献

Summary The seven possible primary trisomics of Petunia (2 n= 14) located in the progenies of triploid, hypertriploid and hypotriploid plants were distinguished from one another and from diploid on the basis of cytological and morphological criteria. They were provisionally named as Oval, Semi, Slender, Pseudonormal, Arrow, Narrow and Giant. In three of the trisomics, the extra chromosome was identified for the first time at pachytene stage. Postpachytene studies revealed no precise relationship between the length of extra chromosome and the frequency of multiple association.  相似文献

Summary Genetic analysis for leaf rust reaction of two widely adapted cultivars, Sonalika and WL 711, has been done using 21 near isogenic Lr lines and rust culture IL004 — avirulent on the two cultivars and all the Lr lines used. The segregation pattern in the F2 generation indicated the presence of a recessive gene in Sonalika and of a dominant gene in WL 711. These genes in cultivars Sonalika and WL 711 have been identified as Lr 11 and Lr 13, respectively. Gene Lr 13 is no longer effective in WL 711 but it continues to give field resistance in the backgrounds of Chris, Prelude and Thatcher. There has been no significant change in the virulence spectrum of the leaf rust pathogen in India with the release of WL 711. High susceptibility of WL 711 seems to be due to the evolution of more aggressive forms of the pathogen to this cultivar. The gene Lr 11, which behaves as a recessive in Sonalika, was effective against leaf rust when this cultivar was released. The high susceptibility of Sonalika is probably due to an increase in the frequency of race 77 virulent on Lr 11. Lr 11 has shown a dominance reversal in the background of Sonalika. Present results suggest that interaction of resistance genes with the background genotype must be studied for their effective use in breeding programme.  相似文献

A method for plant regeneration of Iris via somatic embryogenesis is described. Root and leaf pieces from in vitro-grown plants of several genotypes of rhizomatous Iris sp. were cultured in vitro. Callus induction occurred only on root cultures incubated under low light intensity (35 mol m-2 s-1) on two induction media containing 2,4-D (4.5 or 22.5 M), NAA (5.4 M) and kinetin (0.5 M). Somatic embryos developed after transfer of callus onto four regeneration media containing 9 or 22 M BA, or 5 M kinetin and 2 M TIBA or 9 M BA and 4 M TIBA. Plantlets could be obtained from these somatic embryos. Genotypic differences were found both in callus induction and somatic embryo formation, with I. pseudacorus responding better than I. versicolor or I. setosa. Résumé Pour rechercher le poireau, Acrolepiopsis assectella doit utiliser des stimulus olfactifs issus du végétal-hôte et notamment les substances soufrées spécifiques. Le pouvoir attractif de l'«odeur» du poireau et celui de différents thiosulfinates et disulfures trouvés dans cette plante sont donc étudiés et comparés par olfactométrie. Le comportement de mâles et de femelles vierges et fécondées est observé, en fonction de l'âge des imagos, pendant la scotophase. Alors qu'un courant d'air sans «odeur» significative déclenche essentiellement l'orientation et l'immobilisation des insectes face au flux, la plus part des mâles et des femelles quel que soit leur état sexuel sont attirés par le courant d'air lorsque celui-ci transporte l'«odeur» du poireau ou les substances volatiles étudiées. La sensibilité à l'«odeur» de la plante-hôte semble se modifier avec l'âge des insectes, les mâles âgés et les jeunes femelles étant les plus attirés. Cependant, ces dernières conservent une forte sensibilité une fois fécondées. Aux âges où l'«odeur» du poireau est la plus efficace, les thiosulfinates déclenchent chez les mâles et les femelles vierges une attraction plus importante que les disulfures, le radical propyle étant plus actif que le méthyle. Le thiosulfinate de dipropyle, labile, très abondant dans le poireau, semble donc avoir un rôle informationnel prépondérant.
Summary To find the leek, Acrolepiopsis assectella uses olfactory stimulants from the hostplant, and specially the specific sulphur compounds. The attractiveness of the leek smell and of different thiosulfinates and disulfides found in this plant were studied and compared in an olfactometer. The behaviour of , and virgin or mated was observed during the scotophase according to to the age of the adults. In a clean air current the insects orient and remain stationary. The majority of and virgin or mated move upwind when the air current bears the leek smell or the voltile sulphur compounds. The sensitivity to the hostplant smell seems to change with the age of the insect, old and young being most attracted. Once mated, the retain a high sensitivity. When the responsiveness to the leek smell is highest (at 1 day and 5 days) the thiosulfinates have a greater effect than the disulfides in both and virgin . The propyl moiety is more active than the methyl one. The labile dipropyl thiosulfinate (propyl propanethiosulfinate), very profuse in the leek, seems to have the major role.

Allochronic isolation between the two host races of the bisexual generation ofA. mukaigawae (Mukaigawa) (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) was demonstrated in the field. Assortative mating seems to occur in the bisexual generation of each race. Genetic changes of ovipositional preference probably played an important role in the host race formation; it is likely that little or no genetic change in survival was required in this process. A difference in host phenology seems to have caused the allochronic isolation of the bisexual generation between the parent population on the original host tree species and its daughter population on the new host tree species. Gene flow between them may have been restricted ever since the initial host shift. The host race formation of this wasp probably represents an example of sequential evolution.
Résumé L'isolement allochronique de 2 races spécifiques aux hôtes différents a été prouvé dans la nature pour la génération bisexuée deA. mulaigawae (Hymen., Cynip.). Des accouplements assortis semblent exister à l'intérieur de la génération bisexuée de chaque race. Des différences génétiques dans le choix du lieu de ponte doivent jouer un rôle important dans la formation de ces races; il n'est probablement pas nécessaire qu'il y ait des changements génétiques dans la survie, pour obtenir cette genèse. Une différence dans la phénologie des hôtes semble avoir entraîné l'isolement allochronique dans la génération bisexuée entre les populations parentales suivant l'espèce originelle d'arbre hôte, et dans ses populations filles suivant les nouvelles espèces d'arbres hôtes. Le flux génique entre ces populations peut avoir été limité depuis le changement initial d'hôtes. Chez ce cynipide la formation de races, en fonction de l'hôte, représente probablement un exemple d'évolution séquentielle.

Summary Chris wheat possessed genes Sr5, Sr7a, Sr8a, Sr9g and Sr12. W3746, derived from the cross Chris/Baart, possessed Sr7a and Sr12. The response conferred by Sr7a was influenced by the genetic background. Although Sr7a or Sr12 alone conferred no observable resistance upon adult plants, the adult resistances of Chris and W3746 to predominant pathotypes appeared to be associated with the interaction of Sr7a and Sr12, or genes at closely linked loci.  相似文献

Summary Nucellar callus lines were established from two orange cultivars (Nucellar Shamouti, Shamouti Landau), three mandarin cultivars (Murcott, Dancy, Ponkan) one grapefruit cultivar (Duncan) and sour orange (Citrus aurantium). These callus lines were initiated from in vitro cultured ovules of young fruits and maintained an embryogenic capacity. The plating efficiencies of protoplasts derived from these calli, as well as those of protoplasts from lemon (cv. Villafranca) nucellar callus were differentially affected by the maceration enzymes and by the sugars used as osmotic stabilizers. Plants with normal morphological features were regenerated from cultured protoplasts derived from each of the nucellar callus lines. The establishment of eight new protoplast systems in Citrus paves the way for cell genetics studies and for novel breeding approaches in these economically important orchard trees.Contribution from the Agricultural Research Organization, The Volcani Center, Bet Dagan, Israel. Role of trichomes in soybean resistance to cabbage looper, Trichoplusia ni   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Role of leaf trichome density and length in Glycine max (L.) Merr. resistance to Trichoplusia ni (Hübner) was evaluated at different leaf positions on a relatively resistant soybean, plant introduction (PI) 227687, and a relatively susceptible cultivar, Davis. The uppermost (juvenile) leaf within both PI 227687 and Davis plants, which is densely covered with trichomes, was most resistant to T. ni larval feeding and survival. When these trichomes were shaven off, such leaves became as susceptible to T. ni larval feeding as unshaven TL3 and TL5 leaves (PI 227687) or all other unshaven leaves (Davis). Bioassays for antifeedants in ethyl acetate and hexane extractables from leaves at the different positions on PI 227687 and Davis plants showed that the resistance observed in the uppermost Davis leaf is attributable to trichomes (i.e., a morphological factor); whereas, in the uppermost PI 227687 leaf it involves both morphological (trichomes) and chemical factors, but the trichome parameter is dominant.
Résumé L'influence de la densité et de la longueur des trichomes de Glycine max sur la résistance à Trichoplusia ni a été évaluée suivant la position des feuilles sur une lignée résistante (PI 227687) et sur un cultivar sensible (Davis).Les feuilles apicales (juvéniles) tant de PI 227687 que de Davis, recouvertes de trichomes denses, résistèrent mieux à l'alimentation larvaire et à la survie de T. ni.Quand ces trichomes étaient éliminés, ces feuilles ne résistaient pas plus à l'alimentation des larves de T. ni que les feuilles non rasées TL3 et TL5 de PI 227687 ou toutes les autres feuilles de Davis.Les tests avec des extraits dans l'acétate d'éthyle et l'hexane de feuilles provenant de différentes positions de PI 227687 et Davis, destinés à mettre en évidence des phagodissuadants, ont montré que la résistance observée chez les feuilles apicales de Davis était attribuable aux trichomes (c'est-à-dire à un caractère morphologique), tandis que chez les mêmes feuilles de PI 227687 elle impliquait à la fois des trichomes (morphologie) et des substances chimiques, mais avec une prédominance de l'influence des trichomes.

This study provides a critical historical review and analysis of the variety of human expressions which have been erroneously labeled under the grandiose category mass hysteria. It is argued that Western science reductionist approaches to the classification of mass hysteria treat it as an entity to be discovered transculturally, and in their self-fulfilling search for universals systematically exclude what does not fit within the autonomous parameters of its Western-biased culture model, exemplifying what Kleinman (1977) terms a category fallacy. As a result of objectivist methodologies, the etiology of actions labeled as mass hysteria is typically viewed as deviant, irrational or abnormal behavior resulting from a malfunctioning proper social order. However, what constitutes the correct social order is a function of a researcher's historical sociocultural and/or scientific milieu. This study reviews the problem, advocating Geertz's (1973) culturally relativistic approach to understanding various cross-cultural behavior that is sensitive to and tolerant of the unique context and milieu of participants. Mass or epidemic hysteria is viewed as an invention of Western psychiatry and should be abandoned and replaced with the term collective exaggerated emotions. Instead of attempting to discover a neatly packaged, unitary external disease entity, the focus of a meaning-oriented approach emphasizes the deciphering of foreign realities, semantic networks and symbol systems.  相似文献

Summary The slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum has two forms of the enzyme glycogen phosphorylase. The inactive phosphorylase b form requires 5 AMP for activity and is present in early development. The active phosphorylase a form is 5 AMP independent and occurs during later development. We here show that the 92 kd b enzyme subunit exists either as a singlet or a doublet upon SDS-PAGE, depending on the method of sample extraction. In the presence of exogenously added Mn2+ and ATP, the phosphorylase b shows apparent conversion into a 5 AMP independent form as measured by enzyme activity. In addition, Mn2+ and ATP also support an in vitro phosphorylation of the 92 kd phosphorylase b subunit. We also demonstrate phosphorylation of the b enzyme subunit in vivo by 32-P incorporation into the enzyme protein. A protein kinase responsible for the observed in vitro phosphorylation of the phosphorylase b subunit is characterized.  相似文献

Fifty-six compounds from the odor of calling, sexually mature, laboratory reared males of the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae) were isolated by headspace trapping on Tenax columns and identified using GC/MS techniques (69 total compounds were detected). Electroantennogram responses (EAGs) to 54 of the 56 identified compounds as well as 5 analogs were tested on both sexes. Significant differences between the sexes in their responsiveness were found in 9 of the 54 identified compounds tested. There was no correlation between the amplitude of the EAG response and the relative abundance of compound identified from headspace analysis. Of the five major identified components, three elicited relatively small EAG responses, while two elicited large EAGs compared to the hexan-1-ol standard. The relative ranking of EAG responses were: methyl and ethyl hexenoates and hexanoates > C4–C6 esters and/or acetates > ethyl and methyl octenoates > monoterpenes > sesquiterpenes > C2–C5 acetates, alcohols and ketones. Behavioral bioassays on each of the five major identified components as well as a blend of six of the compounds showed some degree of attractancy to virgin females which in some cases approached the response to a pheromonal standard (male odors absorbed onto filter paper). These results are discussed in relationship to the insect's antennal sensitivity to putative pheromone components and/or allomonal components and to other reported C. capitata pheromone studies.
Résumé Cinquante-six composés de l'odeur de mâles de C. capitata Weidemann, élevés en laboratoire, sexuellement mûrs et en appel, ont été isolés par piégeage sur colonnes tenax et identifiés par la technique GC/MS (69 composés avaient été détectés en tout). Les électroantennogrammes (EAGs) ont été examinés chez les deux sexes pour 54 des 56 composés identifiés et 5 de leurs analogues. Des différences significatives entre les sexes ont été observées pour 9 des 54 composés identifiés. Il n'y avait pas de corrélation entre l'ampleur de l'EAG et l'abondance relative du composé lors de son isolement. Pour les 5 principaux composés identifiés, 3 ont induit des EAGs relativement faibles, tandis que 2 étaient importants, par comparaison avec l'Hexane-1-ol utilisé comme témoin. Le classement relatif des EAG a été: hexénoates et hexanoates d'éthyl et de méthyl C4–C6 esters et/ou acétates octénoates d'éthyl ou de méthyl monoterpènes sesquiterpènes C2–C5 acétates, alcools et kétones. Les expériences de comportement avec chacun des 5 composés principaux identifiés, comme avec des mélanges de 6 composés ont mis en évidence une attraction des femelles vierges qui dans quelques cas avoisine la réponse à la phéromone témoin (odeur du mâle absorbée sur papier filtre). Ces résultats sont discutés en fonction de la sensibilité de l'antenne d'insexte aux composés supposés de la phéromone et aux composés allomonaux, et en fonction des autres études connues sur les phéromones de C. capitata.

Zusammenfassung Uferschwalben kehren aus den afrikanischen Winterquartieren in Trupps beiderlei Geschlechts zurück. Erste Beringungsergebnisse belegen, daß zunächst mehrjährige, vermutlich untereinander bekannte Vögel eintreffen, die den Brutplatz aus vergangenen Brutperioden her kennen. Die Masse der später ankommenden Vögel dürfte weitgehend aus einjährigen oder ortsfremden Uferschwalben bestehen, die sich größtenteils erst während der Paarbildung persönlich kennenlernen. Der anfängliche Schwarmzusammenhalt der nacheinander eintreffenden Trupps führt zur Bildung von Subkolonien, die für Brutplätze ab einer bestimmten Größenordnung typisch sind. Uferschwalben- gründen nacheinander mehrere Reviere, d. h. sie besetzen Steilwandbereiche, in denen sie ausschließlich mit den Füßen eine Röhre oder Mulde graben, singen und Bogenflüge starten. Bis auf singende oder bekannte werden Artgenossen im Revier geduldet. Uferschwalben- suchen besetzte Reviere auf. Ohne Röhrenbindung verhalten sie sich still und unauffällig, ihre Grabungsaktivitäten sind von untergeordneter Bedeutung. Die Bindung an ein bestimmtes Revier entwickelt sich individuell verschieden und entscheidet über den Abschluß des Röhrenbaues (Herstellung der Nistkammer). Reviere ohne dauerhafte -Bindung werden von den aufgegeben. Aktivitäten, die auf wachsende Revierbindung eines hindeuten, sind: häufige oder/und länger dauernde Aufenthalte des in einem besetzten Revier und sporadisches Mitgraben; aggressives Verhalten gegenüber Artgenossen (i. d. R. fremde ), die im Revier landen wollen; gemeinschaftlicher, leiser Gesang von und im Röhrenbereich. Aktivitäten, die für eine vollzogene Paarbildung sprechen, sind: Fertigstellen der Röhre durch Grabung der Nestkammer; längere gemeinsame Aufenthalte innerhalb und außerhalb der Röhre; Voranfliegen des beim Röhrenanflug; Übernachten von und in der Röhre; Nestbau; ausdauernde Verfolgungsflüge während der Kopulationsphase. Die Paarbildung ist demnach ein individueller Prozeß, bei dem die Aktivitäten der im Revier als Werbung, die der als Revierwahl interpretiert werden.
On pair-formation in the Sand Martin,Riparia riparia
Summary European Sand Martins arrive at their breeding sites in flocks of usually unmated and . Ringing results of a large population in NW-Germany and own observations indicate that the first flocks about a dozen individuals with an approximately balanced sex ratio appear at traditional breeding places and consist of older, experienced resident birds (presumably acquainted with one another). The birds arriving over the next several weeks are mainly first-year or non-resident individuals. The flocks arrive separately in areas with suitable sandcliffs, synchronize the pair-formation activities and avoid disturbances among paired and unpaired birds. This behaviour causes the formation of subcolonies, which are typical for all densely occupied breeding places. Each settles on a fixed area on the sandcliff (territory) in order to excavate a burrow, to sing the territory-song (fig. 2 b) and to perfor the territory-circle-flight (fig. 2 c, 4 a). Silent birds (normally ) are welcomed or tolerated by the resident . The sexes are monomorphic and therefore courtship displays of the are non-aggressive until establishment of pair-bonds. Only intruding singing or individually known neighbouring are driven away, usually at early stages of territory occupation. Unmated are normally shy and very sensitive to protracted disturbances. visit several occupied territories of the colony (fig. 1–3) in order to choose a burrow. leave territories which do not attract a . They settle new territories on the sandcliff, causing a surplus of burrows compared to breeding pairs in the colony. Uptake kinetics of nitrogen derived from sewage–seawater mixtures (2.5–20% v/v effluent) were determined in the laboratory for Ulva rigida (Chlorophyceae) native from Bahía Nueva (Golfo Nuevo, Patagonia, Argentine). In terms of nitrogen concentration, experimental enrichment levels varied between 53.7 and 362.3M of ammonium and between 0.77 and 6.21M of nitrate+nitrite. Uptake rates were fitted to the Michaelis–Menten equation, with the following kinetic parameters: ammonium: Vmax = 591.2molg–1h–1, K s=262.3M, nitrate+nitrite: V max=12.9molg–1h–1, K s=3.5M). Both nutrients were taken up simultaneously, but ammonium incorporation was faster in all cases. The results show a high capability of Ulva rigida to remove sewage-derived nitrogen from culture media. Summary The B factors of Schizophyllum commune are of 3 classes: The high recombining class I has 7 alleles and 7 alleles; the low recombining classes are class II with 7 allels and probably 2 alleles and class III with probably 2 (or also 2) alleles and 7 allels. A fourth hypothetical class (-) was not found and either does not exist or is indistinguishable from class III by the tests employed. Two biotypes of pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum, have been recognized in Australia, by their susceptibility (S) or resistance (R) to certain isolates of the fungal pathogen Erynia neoaphidis. The responses of these two biotypes to 40 isolates of the fungus have shown that the R form is largely confined to two States, New South Wales and Victoria, but appears to have recently spread into Queensland and Tasmania. There is no evidence to suggest it occurs outside Australia. Sequential sampling of two field populations of pea aphids during 1981 and 1982 showed that the proportion of R form remained stable at 10.7±3.0 and 14.6±2.6% (mean±standard error) for the two populations. Glasshouse competition experiments run at the comparatively high temperature of 25°C resulted in the R form becoming dominant even when the initial ratio was 4:1 in favour of the S form. The ecological and genetical implications are discussed.

Aucun élément ne fait dire qu'elle existe hors d'Australie. Des échantillonnages séquentiels des deux populations de pucerons dans la nature en 1981 et 1982 ont montré que la proportion de la forme R est restée stable à 10,7 et 14,62 dans les deux populations. Des expériences de compétition en serre à la température relativement haute de 25°C ont rendu la forme R dominante, même quand le rapport initial était de 4/1 en faveur de la forme S.
