Fast, efficient and selective deprotection of the tert-butoxycarbonyl (Boc) group of various amino acids and peptides was achieved by using hydrogen chloride (4 m) in anhydrous dioxane solution for 30 min at room temperature. In the cases studied in our laboratory, this protocol provided superior selectivity to deprotect Nalpha-Boc groups in the presence of tert-butyl esters and tert-butyl ethers, including thio-tert-butyl ethers, but not phenolic tert-butyl ethers. 相似文献

Streptococcus mutans is a cariogenic bacterium that localizes in the oral cavity. Glycyrrhetinic acid (GRA) is a major component of licorice extract. GRA and several derivatives, including disodium succinoyl glycyrrhetinate (GR‐SU), are known to have anti‐inflammatory effects in humans. In this study, the antimicrobial effect of GRA and its derivatives against the S. mutans UA159 strain were investigated. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of GRA and GR‐SU showed antibacterial activity against the S. mutans strain, whereas other tested derivatives did not. Because GR‐SU is more soluble than GRA, GR‐SU was used for further experiments. The antibacterial activity of GR‐SU against 100 S. mutans strains was evaluated and it was found that all strains are susceptible to GR‐SU, with MIC values below 256 µg/mL. A cell viability assay showed that GR‐SU has a bacteriostatic effect on S. mutans cells. As to growth kinetics, sub‐MICs of GR‐SU inhibited growth. The effect of GR‐SU on S. mutans virulence was then investigated. GR‐SU at sub‐MICs suppresses biofilm formation. Additionally, GR‐SU greatly suppresses the pH drop caused by the addition of glucose and glucose‐induced expression of the genes responsible for acid production (ldh and pykF) and tolerance (aguD and atpD). Additionally, expression of enolase, which is responsible for the carbohydrate phosphotransferase system, was not increased in the presence of GR‐SU, indicating that GR‐SU suppresses incorporation of sugars into S. mutans. The effects of neuraminidase treatment on the electrophoretic pattern of alkaline phosphatase (AP) isozymes and AP activity were investigated in chicken plasma. AP comprised three isozymes. The zymogram of an individual chicken plasma had two bands, either the faster (F) or the slower (S) moving band by isozyme types and the B band irrespective of isozyme types. Mobility of the S band and AP activity in chicken plasma were not affected by neuraminidase treatment. The treatment has a reduced migration rate of the F band equal to that of the S band and the B band of both types closer to the origin. The genetic control of these bands is discussed. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the limitation for applying a linear model to the cardiorespiratory control system. Four subjects performed the two types of exercise bouts, constant (CONST) and pseudorandom (PRBS) exercise, on an electrically braked cycle ergometer at three different work rates. The target work rate of CONST were set to 80, 100, 120% of the individual anaerobic threshold (AT). In PRBS, the work rates were varied between +/- 10% of the individual AT around the respective target work rates of CONST. Although the spectral density of beat-to-beat heart rate fluctuations showed the conventional patterns for most cases, there was no obvious difference between CONST and PRBS. These results indicated that the variation of +/- 10% of AT did not affect the heart rate variation as the output response, suggesting a dilemma inevitable to apply a linear model based on the transfer function. 相似文献

Many studies have revealed the influences of music, and particularly its tempo, on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and respiration patterns. Since there is the interaction between the ANS and the respiratory system, namely sympatho-respiratory coupling, it is possible that the effect of musical tempo on the ANS is modulated by the respiratory system. Therefore, we investigated the effects of the relationship between musical tempo and respiratory rate on the ANS. Fifty-two healthy people aged 18–35 years participated in this study. Their respiratory rates were controlled by using a silent electronic metronome and they listened to simple drum sounds with a constant tempo. We varied the respiratory rate—acoustic tempo combination. The respiratory rate was controlled at 15 or 20 cycles per minute (CPM) and the acoustic tempo was 60 or 80 beats per minute (BPM) or the environment was silent. Electrocardiograms and an elastic chest band were used to measure the heart rate and respiratory rate, respectively. The mean heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) were regarded as indices of ANS activity. We observed a significant increase in the mean heart rate and the low (0.04–0.15 Hz) to high (0.15–0.40 Hz) frequency ratio of HRV, only when the respiratory rate was controlled at 20 CPM and the acoustic tempo was 80 BPM. We suggest that the effect of acoustic tempo on the sympathetic tone is modulated by the respiratory system. 相似文献
