Peptidase activity of Yersinia pestis cell extract was studied by the hydrolysis of synthetic and some natural substrates, as well as the hydrolysis of fluorogenic aminopeptidase substrates. All peptides and fluorogenic substrates under test were split by Y. pestis cell extract, the splitting of alanylaminopeptidase substrate being linked with at least two enzymes of this cell extract. 相似文献

In two different strains of cholera vibrios two recA-dependent plasmids, pVib I (1.9-2.2 Md) and pVib II (5.2-5.8 Md), have been detected. The data on the influence of the preparation of Y. pestis adhesion pili on peritoneal macrophages in white mice and guinea pigs are presented. Y. pestis adhesion pili have been found to induce the dose-dependent increase of cell chemiluminescence. They have also been found to induce a number of biochemical changes in target cells: the secretion of myeloperoxidase, an increase in the activity of cAMP-dependent protein kinases. 相似文献

This study continues analysis from a companion paper on over 350,000 insured Swedish dogs up to 10 years of age contributing
to more than one million dog-years at risk during 1995–2000. The age patterns for total and diagnostic mortality and for general
causes of death (trauma, tumour, locomotor, heart and neurological) are presented for numerous breeds. Survival estimates
at five, eight and 10 years of age are calculated. Survival to 10 years of age was 75% or more in Labrador and golden retrievers,
miniature and toy poodles and miniature dachshunds and lowest in Irish wolfhounds (91% dead by 10 years). Multivariable analysis
was used to estimate the relative risk for general and more specific causes of death between breeds accounting for gender
and age effects, including two-way interactions. Older females had tumour as a designated cause of death more often than males
in most breeds, but not in the Bernese mountain dog. Information presented in this and the companion paper inform our understanding
of the population level burden of disease, and support decision-making at the population and individual level about health

Computer analysis revealed seven potential variable-number tandem-repeat (VNTR) loci in the Vibrio cholerae genome. Specific primers were designed to amplify locus VcA located on chromosome 2 and containing a TGCTGT repeat. The locus was found in all tested strains from aV. cholerae strain collection, the repeat number varying from 3 to 23. In total, 14 VcA alleles were observed. The VcA locus was proposed as a marker for the molecular typing of V. cholerae strains. 相似文献

The effect of exogenic addition of purines and pyrimidines on trimethoprim sensitivity was studied in 134 vaccinal and virulent strains of the plague causative agent isolated at various periods in 12 natural plague foci. 74 strains proved to be sensitive to low concentrations of trimethoprim in the cultivation media irrespective of the presence or absence of thymine or thymidine in them. In this respect the strains differed from many other bacterial species which in the presence of thymidine or thymine were resistant to high concentrations of trimethoprim. 60 natural arginine deficient strains of the plague causative agent from Transcaucasia and Mongolia showed high levels of resistance to trimethoprim on media with thymine or thymidine. The possible mechanism of the plague microbe sensitivity to trimethoprim in the presence of thymine or thymidine is discussed with an account of the literature and original data. 相似文献
