We have observed that sperm quality parameters indicative of spermatozoa hyperactivation such are lower “linearity” and “straightness”, and as showed by this research “elongation”, were more pronounced in patients with normal spermiogram compared to the group of men with reduced sperm motility who were undergoing routine in vitro fertilisation. The research encompassed 97 men diagnosed with normozoospermia (n = 20), asthenozoospermia (n = 54) and oligoasthenozoospermia (n = 23). The findings indicate that sperm quality of patients with normal spermiogram diagnosed according to WHO criteria, may be compromised by showing premature spontaneous hyperactivation which can decrease the chances of natural conception. We assessed synergistic effects of multiple chemical elements in ejaculated semen to find if premature spontaneous hyperactivation of spermatozoa can be a sign of imbalanced semen composition especially of elements K, Ca, Cu and Zn. Human semen samples showing low or high baseline status of chemical elements concentrations were found in samples from all three diagnostic groups. However, correlation of K/Ca and Cu/Zn ratios, taking into account samples from all three groups of men, were negative at statistical significance level p = 0.01. We tested if the negative correlation between K/Ca and Cu/Zn ratio works for greater number of semen samples. We found the negative correlation to be valid for 175 semen samples at statistical significance of p = 0.00002. The ratio of K/Ca and Cu/Zn, i.e. increased concentrations of K and Zn in comparison to concentrations of Ca and Cu, were associated with a decrease of “straightness” in the group of men with normal spermiogram and pronounced spontaneous hyperactivation of spermatozoa, implying that these elements act in synergy and that the balance of elements and not their absolute concentrations plays the major role in premature spermatozoa hyperactivation in ejaculated semen.  相似文献

The effect of hypercapnia on the suppression of efferent hypoglossal and recurrent laryngeal nerve activity by phasic volume feedback was studied in decerebrate paralyzed intubated cats ventilated with a phrenic-driven servo-respirator. The gain of the respirator was altered for single inspirations, and the resulting changes in neural activities were quantified by comparison with respective neural activities without phasic volume feedback. This maneuver was performed when the end-tidal CO2 concentration was 5, 7, and 9%. Changes in the level of CO2 did not alter the slope or position of the volume thresholds for suppression of hypoglossal and recurrent laryngeal activities. The slope of the volume-time isopleths for specific levels of graded suppression also remained constant for each nerve at the different levels of CO2. Under hypercapnic conditions, greater volumes were required at a given time into inspiration to achieve any particular level of suppression, but these differences generally did not reach statistical significance. These data demonstrate a lack of effect of the CO2 stimulus on the suppression of upper airway motoneuron activity by phasic volume feedback. Despite the absence of this interaction, a CO2-induced increase in central inspiratory activation of upper airway motoneurons, in the presence of a very sensitive volume feedback system, would help maintain airway patency in the face of upper airway narrowing or closure.  相似文献

The principal objective was to measure the magnetic fields occurring in dental surgeries at simultaneous subtraction of direct ground component of the magnetic field. A specifically designed instrument with the Hall probe was used for the measurement. It consisted of two amplifiers and a low frequency filter. Its task was to measure mean square values of the field (RMS) dependent on the position in space. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the investigated variables enabled making conclusions about the magnetic fields in dental surgeries. A number of studies have shown that many dental instruments produce radiation with magnetic field higher than 40 G, at a significant decrease in power of the magnetic field with increasing distance from the source. It has also been reported that instruments of older generations produce stronger magnetic fields than do the new ones.  相似文献

N363S and ER22/23EK polymorphisms observed within glucocorticoid receptor gene (NR3C1) may play an important role in the development of bronchial asthma. NR3C1 gene is associated with an altered sensitivity to GCs. The aim of the research project was to study the correlation between this NR3C1 gene polymorphisms and occurrence of asthma in the population of Polish asthmatics. Peripheral blood was obtained from 207 healthy volunteers and 221 asthma patients. Genotyping was carried out with PCR-RFLP method. In the groups of patients with uncontrolled moderate asthma and uncontrolled severe disease, the genotype distribution for the investigated polymorphisms was as follows: N363S-AA, AG, GG occurring with 0.881/0.073/0.046 frequency and ER22/23EK-GG, GA, AA occurring with 0.963/0.037/0.000 frequency. Chi-square analysis revealed a significantly different (P < 0.05) distribution between cases and controls for the N363S polymorphisms. The N363S polymorphism of NR3C1 gene is significantly associated with bronchial asthma, susceptibility to the development of moderate to severe form of uncontrolled bronchial asthma.  相似文献

During the eighteen-year period in "Sestre milosrdnice" University Hospital Center, Zagreb, 271 women with ovarian tumor was studied. 229 women with ovarian cancer and 42 with borderline tumor. The pathohistological types of tumors were different. The age of the patients ranged from 20-83 years. In all patients the value of biochemical marker CA125 was determined. The aim of this study was to determine the usefulness of CA125 measurement in different age groups and in different patohistologycal forms of tumor. CA125 has proven to be positive in 89.1% of women with ovarian cancer and in 62% with neoplasm of low malignant potential. The higher values of CA125 were detected in younger women with low malignant tumor potential. Serous and metastatic tumor types were also associated with higher values of CA125.  相似文献

The mechanicaleffects of pharyngeal constrictor (PC) muscle activation on pharyngealairway function were determined in 20 decerebrate, tracheotomized cats.In 10 cats, a high-compliance balloon attached to a pressure transducerwas partially inflated to just occlude the pharyngeal airway. Duringprogressive hyperoxic hypercapnia, changes in pharyngeal balloonpressure were directly related to phasic expiratory hyopharyngeus(middle PC) activity. In two separate protocols in 10 additional cats,the following measurements were obtained with and without bilateralelectrical stimulation (0.2-ms duration, threshold voltage) of thedistal cut end of the vagus nerve's pharyngeal branch supplying PCmotor output: 1) pressure-volumerelationships in an isolated, sealed upper airway at a stimulationfrequency of 30 Hz and 2) rostrally directed axial force over a stimulation frequency range of 0-40 Hz. Airway compliance determined from the pressure-volume relationships decreased with PC stimulation at and below resting airway volume. Compared with the unstimulated condition, PC stimulation increased airway pressure at airway volumes at and above resting volume. Thisconstrictor effect progressively diminished as airway volume wasbrought below resting volume. At relatively low airway volumes belowresting volume, PC stimulation decreased airway pressure compared withthat without stimulation. PC stimulation generated a rostrally directedaxial force that was directly related to stimulation frequency. Theresults indicate that PC activation stiffens the pharyngeal airway,exerting both radial and axial effects. The radial effects aredependent on airway volume: constriction of the airway at relativelyhigh airway volumes, and dilation of the airway at relatively lowairway volumes. The results imply that, under certain conditions, PCmuscle activation may promote pharyngeal airway patency.

Melanoma is the most lethal cutaneous cancer with a highly aggressive and metastatic phenotype. While recent genetic and epigenetic studies have shed new insights into the mechanism of melanoma development, the involvement of regulatory non‐coding RNAs remain unclear. Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a group of endogenous non‐protein‐coding RNAs with the capacity to regulate gene expression at multiple levels. Recent evidences have shown that lncRNAs can regulate many cellular processes, such as cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and invasion. In the melanoma, deregulation of a number of lncRNAs, such as HOTAIR, MALAT1, BANCR, ANRIL, SPRY‐IT1 and SAMMSON, have been reported. Our review summarizes the functional role of lncRNAs in melanoma and their potential clinical application for diagnosis, prognostication and treatment.  相似文献

1,4,9,10-Anthradiquinone 5 was reacted with enamines 6 in the Nenitzescu reaction to yield unexpected 3,3a,6,12-tetrahydro-3a,7-dihydroxy-2-methyl-6,12-dioxo-naphtho[2,3-d]indol-1-carboxylates 8A. However, anthracycline-like naphtho-condensed 5-hydroxyindoles were not obtained from this diquinone. It yielded similar reaction products of the Nenitzescu reaction like other quinones activated by two electron-withdrawing groups. Furthermore, these new compounds 8A were found to constitute precursors for the synthesis of azonines. The conversion to dibenzoazonines 13 occurred in an unusual and up to now unknown way consisting of isomerization, ring opening, and re-closure. 2-Chloro-anthradiquinone 19 reacted with enamines 6 as vinylogeous acid chloride to pyrroloanthraquinone 20. No substitution of chlorine was observed. Naphtho-condensed indoles 26 were obtained by the reactions of unsubstituted 1,4-anthraquinone 25 with enamines 6 via the normal Nenitzescu route. Indoles 26 were converted to Mannich bases, reacting further to dimers by the Diels-Alder reaction of intermediate o-quinone methides. Most of the synthesized heterocycles were evaluated for their anticancer properties in the NCI's human-disease oriented in vitro anticancer screen. Particularly, carbinolamines 8A exhibited inhibitory activity of tumor cell growth and thus they constitute a new class of lead structures for anticancer drug design.  相似文献

Defense responses against cadmium, arsenic and lead were compared in two crop plants such as the monocotyledonous maize (Zea mays cv. Quintal) and dicotyledonous soybean (Glycine max cv. Korada). The applied metals caused root growth retardation, membrane damage and subsequent loss of cell viability, while enhanced H2O2 generation, lipid peroxidation and lignification were detected with respect to corresponding controls. The measured data suggest that soybean was in general more tolerant to tested doses of metals and showed more pronounced defense responses than maize. Concurrently, the total activity of β-1,3-glucanases, a subgroup of so called pathogenesis-related defense proteins, was comparable in root extracts of both plant types. Though in a view of previous comparative genome approaches the β-1,3-glucanases do not mirror the differences in the cell wall structure and architecture between the monocots and dicots, we show that in both plant types they clearly respond to metal stress. Accumulation patterns of different glucanase isoforms upon exposure to tested metals indicate that they do contribute to plant defense mechanisms during exposure to heavy metals and their biological role is more complex than expected.  相似文献
