Topotype material of Pustulopora pustulosa (Goldfuss), the type species of Pustulopora Blainville, is investigated and its structure described. It has a distinctive budding pattern in which autozooecia are formed from an axial bundle of zooecia. The gonozooecium is of ' Mecynoecia '- shape.  相似文献

Abstract: Early Eocene mammal faunas of North America were transformed by intercontinental dispersal at the Paleocene–Eocene boundary, but lizard faunas from the earliest Eocene of the same area were dominated by immigrants from within the continent. A new lizard assemblage from the middle early Eocene of Wyoming sheds light on the longer‐term history of dispersal in relation to climate change. The assemblage consists of three iguanid species (including two new species possibly closely related to living Anolis), Scincoideus, ‘Palaeoxantusia’, four anguids, two species of an undescribed new anguimorph clade, Provaranosaurus and a varanoid (cf. Saniwa). Most North American glyptosaurin glyptosaurines are now referred to Glyptosaurus, and Glyptosaurus hillsi is given a new diagnosis. Scincoideus is otherwise known only from the mid‐Paleocene of Belgium, and the specimens described here are the first to document intercontinental dispersal to North America among lizards in the early Eocene. Like in mammals, some immigrant lizard lineages first appearing in the Bighorn Basin in the earliest Eocene persisted in the area long after the Paleocene–Eocene thermal maximum, but other immigrants appear to have been restricted to the Paleocene–Eocene thermal maximum.  相似文献

The Stenolaemata comprise both basically single-walled forms (Cyclostomata) and doublewalled forms (Trepostomata, Cystoporata and Cryptostomata) from their first appearance in the geological record. At the end of the Palaeozoic the main groups of apparently double-walled stenolaemates died out, and only the single-walled cyclostomates survived. During the Mesozoic, evolution within the Stenolaemata was apparently repeated by the further development of double-walled forms such as cerioporids, lichenoporids and cancelloids, from single-walled ancestors. These double-walled groups are all remarkable homeomorphs of the major Palaeozoic groups of Bryozoa. A monophyletic origin of the post-Palaeozoic Cyclostomata from Palaeozoic single-walled forms is thus suggested.  相似文献

Five species of cyclostomatous Bryozoa are reported in an assemblage from the Red Sea at Eilat, Israel. Tuhulipora samuelsoni sp.n. is described. The fauna is closely related to known Indo-Pacific faunas.  相似文献

Spinihornera is proposed as a new genus for the species "Hornera" spinigera Kirkpatrick, 1888, and is referred to the family Horneridae Smitt. This genus is characterized by its double walled, hornerid structure, and by having the autozooecial apertures arranged in lateral lines, pinnate branches and apertural spines.  相似文献
