Molecular phylogenetic analyses based on 28S, ITS and IGS rDNA sequences indicate that Erysiphe japonica (≡ Typhulochaeta japonica) consists of two different genetic groups, one group on Quercus aliena, Q. robur and Q. serrata, and another group on Q. crispula var. crispula and Q. crispula var. horikawae. As morphological difference between the two groups are not yet marked distinctly, we suppose that the process of speciation has not yet been finished and propose a new variety, E. japonica var. crispulae, for the latter group based on the difference in host range and the distinct genetic segregation. Quercus robur (pedunculate oak) is a new host of E. japonica.  相似文献

Information on fungi associated with necrotic leaflets of exotic palms in Thailand is scanty, as previous studies were mainly focused on decaying fronds. This study provides some information regarding fungi associated with necrotic leaflets of exotic palms in Thailand. Specimens in this work were collected from several locations in Chiang Mai province, including natural and planted areas. One new species, Cercospora arecacearum on areca palm (Areca catechu), is described and illustrated. An ITS sequence data analysis confirms the separation of the new Cercospora species from related taxa. Another species, Neorehmia arecae, hitherto only known from areca palm, is newly recorded for Thailand. Furthermore, Wallichia siamensis is a new host for this species.  相似文献

An asexual morph of a powdery mildew was found on Buddleja asiatica (Scrophulariaceae) in Nepal. The morphological traits of this powdery mildew strongly resemble those of Phyllactinia species (including Ovulariopsis) belonging to a phylogenetically basal group closely related to Leveillula species, but phylogenetic examinations and analyses clearly showed that this fungus pertains to Leveillula. Within the latter genus, it seems to be allied to L. duriaei, but clearly differs from this species in having conidiophores arising from superficial hyphae and narrower conidia with different length/width ratios. Therefore, the powdery mildew on B. asiatica is described as Leveillula buddlejae sp. nov.  相似文献

Cystotheca tjibodensis, formerly known as Lanomyces tjibodensis (Perisporiales), is a fungus found in 1920 in Indonesia. This species, hitherto only known from its type collection, is now regarded as belonging to the Erysiphales. However, molecular data are still required to verify the taxonomic affinity. In March 2011, we rediscovered this fungus at Cibodas Botanical Garden, Java. Detailed characterizations of this tropical powdery mildew are reported in this study based on morphological and molecular examinations. The anamorph of this species that was not found in the type specimen is also reported in this study.  相似文献

A powdery mildew fungus belonging to the genus Setoidium (anamorph of Cystotheca) was found on Castanopsis javanica in Cibodas Botanical Garden and mount Tangkuban Perahu, West Java, Indonesia. The fungus is considered as a new species, namely, Setoidium castanopsidis. Phylogenetic analyses of the 28S and ITS rDNA regions showed that S. castanopsidis formed a distinct lineage separated from Cy. tjibodensis, Cy. lanestris, and Cy. wrightii. Setoidium castanopsidis also differs morphologically from Cy. tjibodensis in having distinct appressoria (nipple-shaped), longer conidiophores with longer foot-cells, larger conidia, and being found on Ca. javanica. The teleomorphic state has not been found during the collection.  相似文献

A new species and a new variety of Erysiphe sect. Uncinula are described and illustrated. Erysiphe havrylenkoana is a new species found on Nothofagus alpina and N. obliqua in Argentina, and E. prunastri var. japonica is a new variety collected on Prunus maximowiczii in Japan. Erysiphe havrylenkoana differs from E. nothofagi, E. patagoniaca and E. magellanica in having unique helicoid appendages, brownish from the base to the beginning of helicoid part, spirally twisted at the center and straight or not spiral at the upper part with uncinate to circinate tip. The phylogenetic analyses of rDNA sequences clearly showed that the spiral pattern of helicoid appendages is an important morphological character to delimit species among Nothofagus powdery mildews. Erysiphe prunastri var. japonica is distinct from E. prunastri var. prunastri parasitizing hitherto Prunus species from East-Central Asia to Europe by having mainly eight asci per chasmothecium and smooth, rarely septate appendages.  相似文献

Two new species of Erysiphe section Uncinula are described and illustrated based on the molecular and morphological analyses: (1) Erysiphe fernandoae sp. nov. on Fernandoa adenophylla is distinct from other Erysiphe species on the plant family Bignoniaceae by having smaller asci, ca 12 appendages per chasmothecium and being found only in Asia; (2) Erysiphe michikoae sp. nov. on Celtis jessoensis differs from Erysiphe kusanoi on other Celtis species in having smaller chasmothecial, ascal and ascospore dimensions, and fewer number of chasmothecium appendages. The phylogenetic relationships of the two new species with other closely related species are discussed based on 28S and ITS rDNA sequences.  相似文献

Pseudoidium javanicum is proposed as a new species based on analyses of 28S, ITS and IGS rDNA sequences, and morphological data. This new species was found on Acalypha wilkesiana var. marginata, A. argentea, and A. cristata collected from Cibodas Botanical Garden, Bogor (West Java Province, Indonesia). Our analyses showed that all these specimens have identical rDNA sequences and similar morphological characteristics. They form a distinct clade separated from other species of Erysiphaceae. Pseudoidium javanicum differs from Erysiphe acalyphae by having shorter conidiophores and foot cells 1–3 times as long as the 0–2 following cells. The conidial size of Ps. javanicum is also smaller than that of E. jatrophae.  相似文献

A phylogeny of Erysiphe sect. Uncinula on Carpinus spp. was reconstructed using the 28S rDNA sequences and a combined alignment of the 28S, ITS, and IGS rDNA sequences. The analysis was supplemented with morphological data obtained from examination of voucher specimens. A sequence of Erysiphe sect. Uncinula on C. cordata formed a distinct lineage separated from sequences of other Erysiphe species on Carpinus spp., indicating a cryptic species, which is described as E. paracarpinicola. The new species is genetically as well as morphologically most similar to E. carpinicola s. str., but differs in having fewer asci per chasmothecium (mainly 3–5 vs 4–10) and shorter chasmothecial appendages. A key to species of Erysiphe sect. Uncinula on Carpinus spp. is provided.  相似文献
