(Co)variance components and genetic parameters for growth traits in Arabi sheep using different animal models 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The objective of the present study was to estimate genetic parameters for body weight at different ages in Arabi sheep using data collected from 1999 to 2009. Investigated traits consisted of birth weight (N = 2776), weaning weight (N = 2002) and weight at six months of age (N = 1885). The data were analyzed using restricted maximum likelihood analysis, by fitting univariate and multivariate animal models. All three weight traits were significantly influenced by birth year, sex and birth type. Age of dam only significantly affected birth weight. Log-likelihood ratio tests were conducted to determine the most suitable model for each growth trait in univariate analyses. Direct and total heritability estimates for birth weight, weaning weight and weight at six months of age (based on the best model) were 0.42 and 0.16 (model 4), 0.38 and 0.13 (model 4) and 0.14 and 0.14 (model 1), respectively. Estimation of maternal heritability for birth weight and weaning weight was 0.22 and 0.18, respectively. Genetic and phenotypic correlations among these traits were positive. Phenotypic correlations among traits were low to moderate. Genetic correlations among traits were positive and higher than the corresponding phenotypic correlations. Weaning weight had a strong and significant correlation with weight at six months of age (0.99). We conclude that selection can be made in animals based on weaning weight instead of the present practice of selection based on weight at six months. 相似文献

Archaeobotanical-archaeological, cultural and historical data indicate that grapevine domestication can be dated back from
6000 to 7000 years ago and that it took place in the Caucasian and Middle East Regions. However, events leading to the domestication
of this crop species are still an open issue. In this paper, 6 chloroplast microsatellites have been used to assess genetic
similarities among, and within, domesticated and wild grapevine accessions representative of 7 distinct geographical regions
from the Middle-East to Western Europe. Results show that 2 out of the 6 analyzed chloroplast loci are polymorphic within
the 193 domesticated individuals and the 387 samples of 69 wild populations. Allele variants of the Cp-SSR loci combine in
a total of 6 different haplotypes. The data show that the haplotype distribution is not homogeneous: the 6 haplotypes are
present in the domesticated varieties, but only 5 (haplotype VI is absent) are observed in wild populations. The analysis
of haplotype distribution allows discussion of the relationships between the two grape subspecies. The contribution of the
wild grape germplasm to the domesticated gene pool still growing in different geographical regions can be, in cases, made
evident, suggesting that beside domestication, gene introgression has also played a role in shaping the current varietal landscape
of the European viticulture.

Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound produced in very low levels in grapes. To achieve high yield of resveratrol in wild grape, three Agrobacterium rhizogenes strains, Ar318, ArA4 and LBA9402, were used to induce hairy roots following infection of internodes, nodes or petioles of in vitro grown Vitis vinifera subsp. sylvesteris accessions W2 and W16, and cultivar Rasha. The effects of inoculation time, age of explants, bacterial concentration and co-cultivation times were examined on the efficiency of the production of hairy roots. Strains Ar318, ArA4 and LBA9402 all induced hairy roots in the tested genotypes, but the efficiency of ArA4 strain was higher than the other strains. The highest hairy root production was with using internodes as explants. The transformation of hairy roots lines was confirmed by PCR detection of rolB gene. Half Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium was better for biomass production compared with MS medium. HPLC analysis of resveratrol production in the hairy root cultures showed that all the genotypes produced higher amounts of resveratrol than control roots. The highest amount of resveratrol was produced from W16 internode cultures, which was 31-fold higher than that of control root. Furthermore, TLC analysis showed that treatments of hairy roots with sodium acetate and jasmonate elevated resveratrol levels both in hairy root tissue and excreted into the half MS medium. These results demonstrate that endogenous and exogenous factors can affect resveratrol production in hairy root culture of grape, and this strategy could be used to increase low resveratrol production in grapes. 相似文献
