The Working Party on Safety in Biotechnology of the European Federation of Biotechnology has proposed a classification of microorganisms that cause diseases in plants. In this paper appropriate safety levels are proposed for these classes of microorganisms in order to ensure that research, development and industrial fermentation work with plant pathogens will limit the risk of outbreaks of diseases in crops that could result from work with such microorganisms when they are cultivated in laboratories, glasshouses and biotechnology installations.Co-opted: J. We have identified propionaldehyde, n-propanol, isopropanol and N-nitroso-2-hydroxy-propylpropylamine following incubation of N-nitrosodi-n-propylamine with a microsomal fraction from rat liver. Based on the yields of the various products, we have shown that β-oxidation occurs at about 15% of the level of α-oxidation. β-as well as α-oxidation was shown to be carried out by the microsomal mixed function oxidase system. N-nitroso-2-hydroxy-propylpropylamine is further oxidized by the microsomal preparation to yield N-nitroso-2-oxopropylpropylamine. 相似文献

Cyclic GMP and activators (acetylcholine, E. coli heat-stable toxin) of guanylate cyclase were capable of completely replacing the helper cell or interleukin 2 requirement for gamma-interferon (IFN gamma) production by Lyt-1-,2+ cells from C57BL/6 mouse spleen cells. The cyclic GMP help was independent of DNA synthesis or proliferation in the IFN gamma-producing cells, because cyclic GMP reversed mitomycin C blockage of IFN gamma production but did not reverse the inhibition of DNA synthesis. Thus, the findings presented here are unrelated to the question of the second messenger role of cyclic GMP in the activation of lymphocytes for DNA synthesis and cellular proliferation. The cyclic GMP help for IFN gamma production was antagonized by cyclic AMP and inducers (isoproterenol) of adenylate cyclase. 相似文献

The phenomena of induced resistance and induced susceptibility were investigated in the pea-Pseudomonas syringae pv. pisi system, using two pea cultivars, Early Onward and Hurst Green Shaft, and races 1 and 2 of the pathogen. Preliminary treatment with heat-killed bacteria induced resistance in peas to infection by P. s. pv. pisi; the resistance induced was dependent on the time interval between the preliminary and challenge inoculations. The mechanism of induced resistance appears to vary between the cultivars. Similarly, both races of the pathogen appear to have different resistance-inducing efficiencies. Resistance in cvs Early Onward and Hurst Green Shaft to the compatible bacterium could not be induced by preliminary inoculation with live cells of an incompatible race. Heat-killed cells of the races failed to induce the hypersensitive reaction in cultivars that normally show this response when challenged with live avirulent bacteria. Preliminary inoculation with live race 1 cells failed to induce susceptibility in cv. Early Onward to live race 2 cells, irrespective of the challenge inoculation interval. On cv. Hurst Green Shaft, however, preliminary inoculation with live race 2 cells induced limited susceptibility to live race 1 cells. Preliminary treatment with sterile distilled water followed by challenge of the same leaves 24 h later with a compatible race induced a moderate resistance response in both cultivars. 相似文献

Purified mitochondria were obtained from the phytopathogenic fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici by mechanical disruption of protoplasts, followed by differential and density gradient centrifugation.
