I examine the relationship between micronutrient deficiency and the prevalence of mothers’ overweight/obesity in Egypt using the 1997 Egyptian Integrated Household Survey. The ordered logit results show an overlap between micronutrient deficiency and the prevalence of mothers’ overweight/obesity in Egypt. The odds of being overweight/obese are 80.8% higher for micronutrient deficient mothers than for non-deficient mothers, keeping all other variables constant. These results have at least two interesting policy implications. First, as the potential impact of the interaction between micronutrient deficiency and chronic diseases is not well known, the coexistence of micronutrient deficient and overweight/obese women can raise new and serious public health problems in the country. Second, the Egyptian food subsidy program, which lowers the relative prices of energy-dense, nutrient-poor food items, can be one of the major factors for the emergence of overweight/obese and micronutrient deficient mothers in the country. Changing the orientation of the food subsidy program may help to simultaneously address this double burden of mothers’ malnutrition.  相似文献

Tandem structure provides a practical way to realize high efficiency organic photovoltaic cells, it can be used to extend the wavelength coverage for light harvesting. The interconnecting layer (ICL) between subcells plays a critical role in the reproducibility and performance of tandem solar cells, yet the processability of the ICL has been a challenge. In this work the fabrication of highly reproducible and efficient tandem solar cells by employing a commercially available material, PEDOT:PSS HTL Solar (HSolar), as the hole transporting material used for the ICL is reported. Comparing with the conventional PEDOT:PSS Al 4083 (c‐PEDOT), HSolar offers a better wettability on the underlying nonfullerene photoactive layers, resulting in better charge extraction properties of the ICL. When FTAZ:IT‐M and PTB7‐Th:IEICO‐4F are used as the subcells, a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 14.7% is achieved in the tandem solar cell. To validate the processability of these tandem solar cells, three other research groups have successfully fabricated tandem devices using the same recipe and the highest PCE obtained is 16.1%. With further development of donor polymers and device optimization, the device simulation results show that a PCE > 22% can be realized in tandem cells in the near future.  相似文献

DNA polymerase alpha from germinated wheat embryos was purified by ammonium sulphate fractionation, chromatography on DEAE-Toyopearl, followed by phosphocellulose and heparin Sepharose columns. The specific activity of the purified enzyme was more than 60 000 units/mg. It belongs to the alpha-type according to the large molecular mass, high sensitivity to NEM, aphidicoline, 200 mM KCl, low sensitivity to ethidium bromide and the absence of inhibition by ddTTP. Although ternary solar cells (TSCs) offer a cost‐effective prospect to expand the absorption bandwidth of organic solar cells, only few TSCs have succeeded in surpassing the performance of binary solar cells (BSCs) primarily due to the complicated morphology of the ternary blends. Here, the key factors that create and limit the morphology and performance of the TSCs are elucidated. The origin of morphology formation is explored and the role of kinetic factors is investigated. The results reveal that the morphology of TSC blends considered in this study are characterized with either a single length‐scale or two length‐scale features depending on the composition of the photoactive polymers in the blend. This asymmetric morphology development reveals that TSC blend morphology critically depends on material compatibility and polymer solubility. Most interestingly, the fill factor (FF) of TSCs is found to linearly correlate with the relative standard deviation of the fullerene distribution at small lengths. This is the first time that such a correlation has been shown for ternary systems. The criteria that uniform sized and highly pure amorphous domains are accomplished through the correct kinetic path to obtain a high FF for TSCs are specifically elucidated. The findings provide a critical insight for the precise design and processing of TSCs.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are used in the treatment of various forms of psychiatric disorders. Preclinical studies in laboratory animals have indicated that SSRIs were not genotoxic, but clear results from in vitro testing of SSRIs in a human cell system are currently scarce. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether SSRIs might be genotoxic. Sertraline was chosen as model SSRI, since it appears to be at least as well-tolerated as other SSRIs and may even have a more favourable side-effect profile. Unlike fluoxetine, fluvoxamine and paroxetine, sertraline has low potential for pharmacokinetic drug interactions. So, sertraline would be considered first in the treatment of psychiatric disorders requiring SSRI therapy in the future. We therefore examined peripheral lymphocytes from sertraline-treated patients for both sister chromatid exchanges (SCEs), cells with a high frequency of SCEs (HFC) and chromosome aberrations (CA) to evaluate the clastogenicity of SSRIs. METHOD: Ten sertraline-treated patients meeting 'Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV' criteria for both generalized anxiety disorder and major depression were compared with 18 healthy volunteers and 18 non-treated patients with similar psychopathology. Sertraline hydrochloride was administered orally at 50 mg daily for 10 months to 1 year. The participants were selected on the basis of similar responses to a questionnaire assessing risk of genotoxicity related to other aspects of life. All participants had very similar lifestyles, medical histories, biological and dietary factors. All subjects were non-smokers. RESULT: A statistically significant difference between patients with both generalized anxiety disorder and major depression (sertraline-treated or non-treated) and healthy volunteer groups was found by both SCE frequencies and HFC percentages. Both patient groups showed higher frequencies of SCEs than the healthy controls. No statistically significant difference was found between SCE frequencies or HFC percentages observed in sertraline-treated and non-treated patient groups. No statistical difference was found between groups with respect to the frequency of CA. CONCLUSION: There are no adequate studies analysing the clastogenicity of SSRIs, in particular of sertraline. The SCE frequency, the percentage HFC and the frequency of CA in patients with both generalized anxiety disorder and major depression exposed to daily doses of sertraline do not indicate a possible clastogenic hazard. The increased SCE frequencies in patients with both generalized anxiety disorder and major depression in our study-irrespective of sertraline treatment-indicate a possible genotoxic effect. However, our observations were based on a limited number of patients; the results may be explained by psychogenic stress.  相似文献

Global declines of carnivores are related to difficult integration with human land use, in particular conflicts caused by livestock depredation. Spotted hyenas (Crocuta crocuta) live in remarkably close proximity to humans in the degraded and prey-depleted Enderta district, northern Ethiopia. Their diet and interaction with people were investigated in sub-districts close to the regional capital, Mekelle. We interviewed 1,686 randomly selected households from three sub-districts, Debri, Aynalem, and Felege Selam, about livestock management and incidence of depredation from 2005 to 2009. Livestock loss amounted to 492 heads over 5 years; an annual mean of 0.6% worth US$ 7,042. We also performed a survey giving a minimum population estimate of 60 hyenas in the three sub-districts; all but four were found in church forests where they are traditionally tolerated and protected. A total of 1,200 hyena scats were analyzed to determine prey species; the diet contained only domestic species, with sheep being by far the most common prey species. About 5.5% of fecal analysis contained human hairs. We conclude that hyenas depended entirely on domestic prey species, partly through depredation but more importantly through scavenging on (peri-) urban waste. Under the particular local circumstances, continued coexistence appears possible, provided that damage remains tolerable.  相似文献

Long device lifetime is still a missing key requirement in the commercialization of nonfullerene acceptor (NFA) organic solar cell technology. Understanding thermodynamic factors driving morphology degradation or stabilization is correspondingly lacking. In this report, thermodynamics is combined with morphology to elucidate the instability of highly efficient PTB7‐Th:IEICO‐4F binary solar cells and to rationally use PC71BM in ternary solar cells to reduce the loss in the power conversion efficiency from ≈35% to <10% after storage for 90 days and at the same time improve performance. The hypomiscibility observed for IEICO‐4F in PTB7‐Th (below the percolation threshold) leads to overpurification of the mixed domains. By contrast, the hypermiscibility of PC71BM in PTB7‐Th of 48 vol% is well above the percolation threshold. At the same time, PC71BM is partly miscible in IEICO‐4F suppressing crystallization of IEICO‐4F. This work systematically illustrates the origin of the intrinsic degradation of PTB7‐Th:IEICO‐4F binary solar cells, demonstrates the structure–function relations among thermodynamics, morphology, and photovoltaic performance, and finally carries out a rational strategy to suppress the degradation: the third component needs to have a miscibility in the donor polymer at or above the percolation threshold, yet also needs to be partly miscible with the crystallizable acceptor.  相似文献
