PGRP-S (Tag7) is an innate immunity protein involved in the antimicrobial defense systems, both in insects and in mammals. We have previously shown that Tag7 specifically interacts with several proteins, including Hsp70 and the calcium binding protein S100A4 (Mts1), providing a number of novel cellular functions. Here we show that Tag7–Mts1 complex causes chemotactic migration of lymphocytes, with NK cells being a preferred target. Cells of either innate immunity (neutrophils and monocytes) or acquired immunity (CD4+ and CD8+ lymphocytes) can produce this complex, which confirms the close connection between components of the 2 branches of immune response. 相似文献

For the first time, cathode and anode drops of powerful low-pressure amalgam lamps were measured. The lamp discharge current
is 3.2 A, discharge current frequency is 43 kHz, linear electric power is 2.4 W/cm. The method of determination of a cathode
drop is based on the change of a lamp operating voltage at variation of the electrode filament current at constant discharge
current. The total (cathode plus anode) drop of voltage was measured by other, independent ways. The maximum cathode fall
is 10.8 V; the anode fall corresponding to the maximal cathode fall is 2.4 V. It is shown that in powerful low pressure amalgam
lamps the anode fall makes a considerable contribution (in certain cases, the basic one) to heating of electrodes. Therefore,
the anode fall cannot be neglected, at design an electrode and ballast of amalgam lamps with operating discharge current frequency

From 1949 onwards, radioactive waste was released into the Techa River in the southern Urals and the population living along the river was exposed to ionising radiation. Relocation of these people did not start until several years later, causing many individuals to be exposed to substantial doses from internal and external radiation. The identification and follow-up of the exposed individuals started more than 40 years ago and is still continuing. The Techa River offspring cohort (TROC) that has recently been established, comprises 10,459 children born to at least one parent living along the Techa River during the period 1950-1992. Of these children, 3,897 were born during the period of highest release, i.e. between 1950 and 1956 and might thus have been exposed in utero. A total of 1,103 individuals have since died mainly due to infectious and respiratory diseases, injury and poisoning. Only 25 cases were identified as having died of a malignant condition. The radioactive contamination of the Techa River in the southern Urals gives a unique possibility to study the adverse effects of protracted exposure to ionising radiation in a large well-described cohort. The Techa River offspring cohort will make it possible to study the effects on those exposed in utero or early in life and the follow-up of the cohort in the future is, therefore, of great importance. Comparisons with other cohorts of humans exposed early in life, will increase our knowledge in this field of research. 相似文献

Question: What is the effect of leaf litter on growth and mortality of feather mosses. Three experiments were conducted to isolate the shading effect from the effect of leaching of soluble compounds from the leaf litter effect on feather moss mortality and growth. Location: Edmonton, Alberta and the northern boreal coniferous forest, west‐central Alberta, Canada. Methods: In a field experiment Populus tremuloides (aspen) leaf litter was applied to beds of feather mosses dominated by Hylocomium splendens. Treatments were one layer of leaves held in place with netting; one layer of leaves coarsely ground, sprinkled over the moss layer; a shade cloth equivalent to one layer of leaves; and a control. In two growth chamber experiments, the application of aqueous extracts of P. tremuloides and Pinus contorta leaf litter and the effect of shade and soluble carbohydrates were tested on the growth and mortality of Ptilium crista‐castrensis. Results: Mortality of Hylocomium was greatest under the intact leaves, followed by the treatments using shade cloth and ground leaves and finally the control. The application of aqueous extracts of aspen leaf litter resulted in senescence or death of nearly all Ptilium shoots compared to no effects for the control or for similar extracts of pine needle litter. Extracts from aspen litter had greater concentrations of phenolic compounds and soluble sugars than pine extracts. Addition of sugars to Ptilium allowed it to grow and accumulate carbohydrates, even in low light conditions. Conclusions: Results suggest that broad‐leaved deciduous overstory species can limit the growth of feather mosses through their leaf litter and by implication affect the humus form, nutrient cycling, and understory composition of these forests. 相似文献

The tendencies in the substance P influence on the expression of individual and group behaviour of adult males of rhesus macaques have been studied on the background of cardiopathogenic emotional stress (CES) and without it. CES stimulated the general activity of rhesus macaques in the individual cages, while the substance P injection without CES increased the frequency and duration of pathologic behavioral patterns. The maximal influence of substance P was expressed on the 3-4 day of experiments. On the 5th day the intensification of locomotion and social activity was found during the settling of all individuals in the large cage. The definite regularity of connection between the value of arterial pressure before and after experiments and the individual's social ranks is found. The injection of substance P on the CES background and without it the second-ranking individuals stood more hard, the leader and the most subordinated individuals stood easier. 相似文献

We present an efficient computational architecture designed using supervised machine learning model to predict amyloid fibril
forming protein segments, named AmylPepPred. The proposed prediction model is based on bio-physio-chemical properties of
primary sequences and auto-correlation function of their amino acid indices. AmylPepPred provides a user friendly web interface
for the researchers to easily observe the fibril forming and non-fibril forming hexmers in a given protein sequence. We expect that
this stratagem will be highly encouraging in discovering fibril forming regions in proteins thereby benefit in finding therapeutic
agents that specifically aim these sequences for the inhibition and cure of amyloid illnesses.
