Thirty years after the Chernobyl explosion we still lack information regarding the genetic effects of radionuclide contamination on the plant population. For example, are plants adapting to the low dose of chronic ionising irradiation and showing improved resistance to radiation damage? Are they coping with changing/increased pathogenicity of fungi and viruses in the Chernobyl exclusion (ChE) zone? Are plant populations rapidly accumulating mutational load and should we expect rapid micro-evolutionary changes in plants in the Chernobyl area? This review will try to summarise the current knowledge on these aspects of plant genetics and ecology and draw conclusions on the importance of further studies in the area around Chernobyl. 相似文献

The effects of the agonist of the glucocorticoid hormones dexamethasone and dopamine antagonist--haloperidol on the concentration of immunoreactive alpha-, beta- and gamma-endorphins in duodenum, ileum, and jejunum of rats were studied. Besides the extracts of the intestines, the immunoreactive endorphins were measured in the extracts of their mucosa-submucosa and muscle-serous layers, that allowed to separate the endorphin-producing cells of the nervous system (muscle-serous layer) from endorphin producing cells of endocrine and immune systems (mucosa-submucosa layer). The injection of dexamethasone (0.2 mg per rat, daily for 6 days) caused the reliable decrease in concentrations of all three types of endorphins in mucosa-submucosa and muscle-serous layer of duodenum, ileum, and jejunum. Under the action of haloperidol (0.6 mg per rat, daily for 6 days) the reliable increase of beta-endorphin concentration was noticed only in jejunum. The suggestion is made that two distinct subpopulations of endorphin-producing cells exist in the intestine: in one cells endorphin synthesis is regulated by glucocorticoids, as in the anterior lobe of pituitary, in the other cells the synthesis of endorphins is regulated by dopamine, as in the cells of the intermediate lobe of pituitary. It is suggested that both glucocorticoid and dopamine types of regulation of endorphins synthesis were formed in the intestine or even in the gastric cavity. In process of evolution the cells with glucocorticoid type of regulation gave rise to the anterior lobe of pituitary, the cells with the dopamine type of regulation--to the intermediate lobe. 相似文献

O-Specific polysaccharide chain of P. aeruginosa 013 (Lányi) lipopolysaccharide is composed of N-acetyl-D-quinovosamine (QuiNAc), acetamidino derivative of L-fucosamine (FucNAm), and 5,7-diacetamido-3,5,7,9-tetradeoxy-D-glycero-L-galacto-nonuloso nic acid (Sug). On solvolysis with HF in methanol, the polysaccharide afforded methylglycosides of a disaccharide and a trisaccharide both containing fucosamine and ulosonic acid derivatives. A number of enzymatic reactions with the participation of lipid radicals is discussed in the article. It is supposed that NADPH- and NADH-dependent formation of the lipid radicals has a functional importance. The uptake of oxygen by free radicals is considered as one of the reactions of radicals utilization. It is proposed that other reactions with participation of lipid radicals can take place in the membranes of microsomes and mitochondria: the reaction of electron transfer from flavoprotein to cytochrome P448 and the reaction of energy transfer which provide the coupling of oxidation and phosphorylation. 相似文献

Catalase activity of the methanol-assimilating yeast Candida boidinii M-363 was determined cytochemically and biochemically. Electron microscopic investigations on ultrathin sections were made on cells from 16, 24, and 48h batch cultures in nutrient medium with methanol (or glucose as a control) as the sole source of carbon and energy. The electron-dense oxidation product of 3,3′-diaminobenzidine was found predominantly in the mitochondrial cristae and membranes. The mitochondria were increased in number, enlarged, sometimes aggregated, with variable form and size and they characteristically developed when the strain was grown on methanol. The significant development of these organelles and their intensive DAB staining correlated with the considerable increase in catalase activity. Biochemically, catalase in the cell-free extract was determined to be maximal along the exponential growth phase of the strain during its incubation on methanol. Enzyme analysis of the heavy mitochondrial fraction showed that it possessed catalase activity but not peroxidase activity. The results showed that not only peroxisomes but also mitochondria may be structurally and functionally responsible for the high catalase activity of some methanol-assimilating yeasts. What is more, the contribution of the mitochondria to the utilization of methanol may be significant. 相似文献

Summary A distinction between the chemical composition of ultrastructurally modified regions and the rest of the cell wall (canals) of the yeast Schwanniomyces occidentalis was shown by cytochemical staining of cell wall polysaccharides. The formation of canals was induced by cultivation of yeasts on hydrocarbons and was parallelled by the enhancement of -glucosidase, -glucanase and -mannosidase activities which were all capable of degrading cell wall polysaccharides. The presence of cycloheximide prevented canal formation. We assume that these hydrolases modified definite cell wall regions transforming them into canals. 相似文献

A specific acidic polysaccharide was isolated from Sh. boydii type 8 antigenic lipopolysaccharide after mild hydrolysis followed by chromatography on Sephadex G-50. The polysaccharide consists of D-glucuronic acid, D-galacturonic acid, 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-D-glucose, 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-D-galactose and 2-amino-1,3-propanediol residues in 1:1:1:1:1 ratio. From the results of methylation analysis, partial acid hydrolysis and Smith degradation, the structure of the repeating unit of the specific polysaccharide was deduced as: (Formula: see text). The 13C NMR spectra of native, O-deacetylated and carboxyl-reduced polysaccharides, as well as the spectrum of oligosaccharide produced by Smith degradation were interpreted. The inhibition of membrane ATPase from the marine alkalotolerant bacterium Vibrio alginolyticus by DCCD, triphenyltin and venturicidin was studied. DCCD proved to be an irreversible inhibitor, while venturicidin and triphenyltin produced a reversible inhibitory effect. The DCCD-binding proteolipid was identified in the membrane preparations. The effect of the inhibitors on ATPase activity and ATP-dependent Na+-transport in V. alginolyticus subcellular vesicles is discussed. 相似文献

As a result of crosses between the SHR rats (spontaneously hypertensive strain) and WKY rats (normotensive strain), the F1 and F2 hybrids and the B1 and B2 backcrosses were obtained. Analysis of genetic control nature in these generations revealed that the WKY genes responsible for the level of arterial pressure, sensitivity to the electric current stimulation and salt (sodium and potassium) appetite characteristics were dominant. The heterosis effect was found for the body mass. Analysis of dynamics of different types of exploratory activity (in a shuttle box, in "horizontal plane", in an open field) demonstrated specificity of their genetic formulae and peculiarities of changes in their genetic control during the test. 相似文献
