Various chemicals commonly found in food (twelve monosaccharides, nine sugar alcohols, twenty triglycerides, eleven unsaturated fatty acids and nine saturated fatty acids) were tested in different concentrations for their ability to attract and sustain feeding by the dried-fruit mite,Carpoglyphus lactis (L.). Oleic acid, -d-glucose and some triglycerides act as phagoincitants and phagostimulants, whiled-fucose and trilaurin are phagodeterrents.  相似文献

125I-Wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) binding parameters of human urothelial cell lines of different grades of transformation (TGrll and TGrlll) were compared. The values of association constant (Ka) and the number of binding sites/cell for HCV29 (TGrll) cell line were about 3×106M–1 and over 4×107, respectively. Two TGrlll cell lines, HCV29T and Hu549 revealed lower values for Ka, and considerably higher numbers of binding sites/cell (about 3×108 and 2×108, respectively). Binding of125I-WGA to total cellular proteins resolved by SDS-PAGE and transferred to nitrocellulose showed multiple diffused bands in the range of 58–180 kDa. Abstract Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) of 33 strains of Hafnia alvei were isolated and purified. LPS content of the dry bacterial mass ranged from 1.2 to 4.5%. All examined lipopolysaccharides contained glucose, glucosamine, heptose, 3-deoxy-octulosonic acid and often galactose. Rhamnose, mannose, galactosamine, mannosamine and unidentified amino sugars were found in some H. alvei strains. Sialic acid was present in LPS of one strain. d -3-Hydroxybutyryl groups also were identified in lipopolysaccharides of 5 strains of this genus.
SDS-PAGE of the lipopolysaccharides was presented in the paper. According to these results two core types exist in H. alvei .  相似文献

Four bi-antennary glycan fractions of theN-acetyllactosamine-type, derived from a Lewis lung carcinoma (LL2) cell subline resistant to theAleuria aurantia agglutinin were studied by 400 MHz1H-NMR spectroscopy. By this method, their antennae were found to be terminated either by (2-3 or 6)-linkedN-acetylneuraminic acid or (1-3)-linked galactose residues. The modulation of NK activity by muramyl dipeptides derivatives against Ab (amelanotic) Bomirski melanoma and human erythroleukemia K562 cells was studied in vitro. The stimulatory effect was observed for 3 of 7 muramyl dipeptides: MDP(L-Ala)C921, MDPC857 and L18-MDP(Ala) in relation to cytotoxic activity of NK cells obtained from peripheral blood and spleen of healthy and Ab Bomirski melanoma bearing hamsters. An increased of cytotoxic activity NK cells isolated from animals before and during the transplantable phase of the tumor against K562 was found. A similar stimulation was received for NK cells obtained from animals against their own melanoma cells. The most significant influence of examined MDP derivatives on the cytotoxic activity of NK cells were obtained from animals between 10 to 12 days of tumor growth. The extent of the modulation of cytotoxic activity of NK cells was dependent on its initial value both in healthy control and Ab Bomirski melanoma bearing hamsters. If natural cytotoxic activity was high the stimulatory effect of the examined MDP derivatives was only slightly expressed.  相似文献

Summary Arginine rich basic proteins from cytoplasm of Ehrlich ascites tumor cells have been separated and partially characterized. All proteins show a cationic character with the following isoelectric points: 8.45, 8.60, 8.70, 8.90, and possess various amount of arginine. The protein of the highest molecular weight (75000) has the greatest amount of arginine (18.1%), specific radioactivity (19760 cpm/mg, min) and isoelectric point (8.9). The significance of those proteins in the cytoplasm of tumor cells has been discussed briefly.  相似文献

We investigated the acute pulmonary hemodynamic effects of intravenous copper sulfate (CuSO4) infusion and its mechanism of action in six groups of conscious sheep (total 40). After 300 mg CuSO4 alone, mean pulmonary artery pressure (Ppa) increased from 10.3 to 22.5 Torr and pulmonary artery wedge pressure (Ppaw) from 3.5 to 7.6 Torr, whereas systemic arterial pressure (Psa) increased from 95 to 102 Torr. Cardiac output (Qp) decreased from 4.7 to 3.3 l/min. Pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) and systemic vascular resistance (SVR) increased to 320 and 160% of base line, respectively. The hemodynamic changes correlated well with serum copper, which increased from a base-line value of 0.12 to 3.5 mg/dl after the CuSO4. Serum dopamine beta-hydroxylase increased from 3.2 U/l before CuSO4 injection to 5.7 after its administration, signifying activation of adrenergic nervous system. H1-histamine receptor blockade with chlorpheniramine failed to prevent the effects of CuSO4. Pretreatment with methysergide, a serotonin antagonist, partially attenuated the effects of CuSO4. Phenoxybenzamine, an alpha-adrenergic receptor blocker, and 6-hydroxydopamine, a catecholamine depleting agent, completely blocked the effects of CuSO4. beta-Adrenergic receptor blockade with propranolol enhanced the effects of CuSO4. We conclude, that, in conscious sheep, acute infusion of CuSO4 caused a marked reversible increase in PVR with a slight transient increase in SVR, and this pulmonary hypertension was produced by stimulation of the alpha-adrenergic nervous system.  相似文献

Summary We have studied the surface of the animal half of ovulated newt eggs recovered from different portions of the oviduct. The germinative area, about 40 m diameter, is localized in the region of the whitish polar spot, about 450 m diameter. The structural changes in the germinative area are connected with the formation and extrusion of the first and second polar bodies. Of the two types of oviductal eggs observed, those covered with microvilli (type 1) were found only in the ostial portions of the oviduct, whilst those covered with microfolds (type 11) were found more distally. The structural difference between these two types may be related to the known reduction in surface area of the cell membrane during oocyte maturation. Offprint requests to: W. Kilarski  相似文献
