Calicotyle japonica n. sp., collected from the uterus, rectal gland, archinephric duct and cloaca of the shortspine spurdog Squalus mitsukurii Jordan & Snyder (Squaliformes) off the Pacific coast of Japan, is described. The new species can be distinguished from C. inermis Woolcock, 1936 by the shape of the male copulatory organ; in C. japonica this is directed anteriorly, is sharply bent in the middle and then increases in width toward the tip, whereas it is long,
coiled and uniform in width throughout its entire length in C. inermis. Furthermore, the intestinal caeca have many irregular diverticula on both sides and the vaginal apertures are at the level
of the common genital pore in C. japonica, whereas in C. inermis the intestine is smooth and the vaginae open at the level of the o?type. A phylogeny constructed using LSU rDNA data indicates that the new species is grouped with other Calicotyle species; based on this, Gymnocalicotyle Nybelin, 1941 is synonymised with Calicotyle Diesing, 1850. Calicotyle is divided into two major clades, with the new species being grouped with Calicotyle species infecting sharks and the second clade consisting of Calicotyle spp. infecting rays. This suggests that the loss of the hamuli in C. japonica and C. inermis, both parasites of sharks, is a comparatively recent event in the evolution of the genus. 相似文献

Larval castes are well known in both sexes of polyembryonic parasitic wasps, in which sterile soldier larvae are clonally produced from a single egg and thousands of reproductive larvae develop into adults. The proportion of soldier larvae in Copidosoma floridanum is first determined genetically in both sexes but subsequently increases in females as a result of environmental disturbances, such as the presence of competitive parasitoids. Because temperature is the most influential environmental factor affecting ectotherms, we hypothesize that an increase in ambient temperature also affects the production of female soldier larvae. Conversely, we hypothesize that there would be no effect of temperature on the production of male soldier larvae. In the present study, we show that heat stress experienced by C. floridanum at an early stage in host development increases the number of female soldier larvae produced during the last instar stage of the host. We also show that rearing at extreme (high and low) temperatures induces an increase in the number of female soldiers produced. The effect of heat stress and ambient temperature on soldier production is found only in females, as is the response to heterospecific competitors. By contrast, no responses are detected in males for either heat stress or ambient temperature. The adaptive effect of these phenomena is not known, although the results of the present study imply the existence of a common physiological cascade that causes an increase in the number of soldier larvae in females. 相似文献

This study examined the effectiveness of heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback intervention for reduction of psychological stress in women in the early postpartum period. On postpartum day 4, 55 healthy subjects received a brief explanation about HRV biofeedback using a portable device. Among them, 25 mothers who agreed to implement HRV biofeedback at home were grouped as the biofeedback group, and other 30 mothers were grouped as the control group. At 1 month postpartum, there was a significant decrease in total Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale score (P < 0.001) in the biofeedback group; this change was brought about mainly by decreases in items related to anxiety or difficulty sleeping. There was also a significant increase in standard deviation of the normal heartbeat interval (P < 0.01) of the resting HRV measures in the biofeedback group after adjusting for potential covariates. In conclusion, postpartum women who implemented HRV biofeedback after delivery were relatively free from anxiety and complained less of difficulties sleeping at 1 month postpartum. Although the positive effects of HRV biofeedback may be partly attributable to intervention effects, due to its clinical outcome, HRV biofeedback appears to be recommendable for many postpartum women as a feasible health-promoting measure after childbirth. 相似文献

mass spectrometry and Mascot search identified 6 proteins including prohibitin, vimentin, ezrin, annexin A3, acidic ribosomal
phosphoprotein P0 and Grp75. Prohibitin and vimentin control the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase pathway. Ezrin is
phosphorylated by various protein-tyrosine kinases and modulates interactions between cytoskeletal and membrane proteins.
Annexin A3 has a role in DNA synthesis. Acidic ribosomal phosphoprotein P0 and Grp75 play in protein synthesis. These results
suggest that the proteins related to the MAP kinase cascade had some role in continuous proliferation of HSL cells without

Functional erythropoietin (Ep) receptor (Ep-R) on transplantable mouse leukemic cells was solubilized by 3[(3-cholamidopropyl)dimethyl ammonio]-1-propanesulfate (CHAPS). An assay of the solubilized Ep-R was established: (1) radioiodinated Ep was bound to the solubilized Ep-R, (2) Ep.Ep-R complexes were covalently cross-linked, (3) the cross-linked products were selectively precipitated by polyethylene glycol, (4) the products were separated on sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, and (5) the Ep.Ep-R cross-linked products were measured. Optimal conditions to yield the cross-linked products and to stabilize the solubilized Ep-R were found. The solubilized Ep-R had properties similar to those of Ep-R on the membrane with respect to binding with Ep and the cross-linked products. We demonstrated the expression of the erythropoietin (EPO) receptor by a human myeloma cell line (MM-S1) which was established in our laboratory. EPO dose-dependently stimulated the proliferation of MM-S1 cells. Binding of radioiodinated EPO (125I-Epo) to MM-S1 cells was competitively inhibited by unlabeled EPO, but not by other recombinant cytokines. Specific binding of 125I-Epo to MM-S1 cells was saturable, and the Scatchard analysis revealed 330 EPO binding sites per cell with a Kd of 0.56 nmol/L. Bound EPO was internalized by MM-S1 cells during incubation at 37 degrees C. This is the first report describing the expression of the EPO receptor by human cells other than those of the erythroid lineage. 相似文献
