GA‐ and CA‐enriched genomic libraries were constructed for the intertidal sponge Halichondria panicea. Unique repeat motifs identified varied from the expected simple dinucleotide repeats to more complex repeat units. All sequences tended to be highly repetitive but did not necessarily contain the targeted motifs. Seven microsatellite loci were evaluated on sponges from the clone source population. All seven were polymorphic with 5.43 ± 0.92 mean number of alleles. Six of the seven loci that could be resolved had mean heterozygosities of 0.14–0.68. The loci identified here will be useful for population studies. 相似文献

作者对采自陕西省镇巴县下寒武统西蒿坪段和水井沱组下部碳酸盐岩地层的海绵骨针化石进行了研究。三叶虫及小壳化石的生物地层学资料表明西蒿坪段和水井沱组下段属于筇竹寺阶。化石经室内醋酸浸泡处理后获得,骨针化石保存较好、类型多样,其中属于六射海绵纲的骨针3类,普通海绵纲的骨针6类,分类未定的骨针1类(Nabaviellasp.);并详细地对各类骨针化石进行了描述。虽然普通海绵骨针类型多样,但六射海绵的骨针丰度远高于普通海绵。简要地探讨了海绵骨针的保存方式,对比和分析了西蒿坪段和水井沱组海绵骨针化石组成的差异。结合同时代产自皖南荷塘组和云南澄江动物群中特异保存的海绵软躯体化石资料,认为虽然海绵动物起源于新元古代末期,但躯体海绵化石和骨针化石都显示海绵动物的大辐射事件发生在早寒武世筇竹寺期。 相似文献

Angioteinsin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory peptide was isolated from marine sponge (Stylotella aurantium) hydrolysate prepared by various hydrolysis enzymes. The peptic hydrolysate exhibited highest ACE inhibitory activity among them and was fractionated into three ranges of molecular weight. The below 5 kDa fraction showed the highest ACE inhibitory activity and was used for subsequent purification steps. The amino acid sequences of the purified peptides were identified to be Tyr-Arg (337.2 Da), and Ile-Arg (287.2 Da). The purified peptides from marine sponge had an IC50 value of 237.2 μM and 306.4 μM, respectively. The molecular docking study revealed that ACE inhibitory activity of the purified peptides was mainly attributed to the hydrogen bond interactions and Pi interaction between the dipeptides and ACE. The results suggest that marine sponge, S. aurantium would be an attractive raw material for the manufacture of anti-hypertensive nutraceutical ingredients. 相似文献

Our aim was to design a simple compression system and investigate the influence of mechanical stress on skin-like structures. Many mechanical compression studies have employed intricate culture systems, so the relationship between extracellular matrix material and the response of skin cells to mechanical stress remains unknown. Our approach uses only glass vials, 6-well plates and standard laboratory equipment. We examined the influence of mechanical stress on human skin fibroblasts embedded within a collagen sponge. The results show that mechanical compression increases MMP-1 and MMP-2 release by the cells into the the cell culture. Our results suggest that pressure on the skin may affect extracellular matrix degradation through some as yet unidentified pathways and that IL-6 mRNA expression may be involved in this effect. Using our approach, the effects of static mechanical stress on protein expression by cells in the culture medium and in sponges can be easily examined, and therefore this system will be useful for further analyses of skin responses to mechanical stress. 相似文献

Background and Aims
Thousands of floor mosaics were produced in lands across the Roman and Byzantine empires. Some mosaics contain depictions of agricultural produce, potentially providing useful information concerning the contemporary presence and popularity of crop plants in a particular geographical region. Hundreds of floor mosaics produced in Israel during the Byzantine period have survived. The objective of the present work was to search these mosaics for Cucurbitaceae in order to obtain a more complete picture of cucurbit crop history in the eastern Mediterranean region.Results and Conclusions
Twenty-three mosaics dating from 350–600 ce were found that had images positively identifiable as cucurbits. The morphological diversity of the cucurbit fruits in the mosaics of Israel is greater than that appearing in mosaics from any other Roman or Byzantine provincial area. The depicted fruits vary in shape from oblate to extremely long, and some are furrowed, others are striped and others lack definite markings. The cucurbit taxa depicted in the mosaics are Cucumis melo (melon), Citrullus lanatus (watermelon), Luffa aegyptiaca (sponge gourd) and Lagenaria siceraria (bottle gourd). Cucumis melo is the most frequently found taxon in the mosaics and is represented by round dessert melons and long snake melons. Fruits of at least two cultivars of snake melons and of watermelons are represented. To our knowledge, images of sponge gourds have not been found in Roman and Byzantine mosaics elsewhere. Indeed, the mosaics of Israel contain what are probably the oldest depictions of Luffa aegyptiaca in Mediterranean lands. Sponge gourds are depicted often, in 11 of the mosaics at eight localities, and the images include both mature fruits, which are useful for cleaning and washing, and immature fruits, which are edible. Lepidocrocite (γ FeOOH) granules are frequently found in the spongin fibers of some horny sponges. The granules also contain calcite and a small amount of goethite (α FeOOH). In the genus Spongia, the amount of iron is highly variable according to the habitat and to the age of the fiber. Some indications about the skeletal growth and structure can be inferred from the distribution of the biominerals and the arrangement of the crystallites: i.e. (1) Mineralization is a slow process in comparison with fiber formation; (2) Secondary connective fibers may have a discontinuous growth; (3) The collagen microfibrils display a definite arrangement in the successive spongin layers; (4) Although spongin is a collagen highly resistant in vitro to enzymatic digestion, the sponge is able to perform remodeling of its skeleton through autodigestion of the fibers. 相似文献

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a novel group of endogenous RNAs with a circular structure. Growing evidence indicates that circRNAs are involved in a variety of human diseases including malignancies. CircRNA ZNF609 (circ-ZNF609), derived from the ZNF609 gene sequence, has been demonstrated to be involved in the development and progression of many diseases. circ-ZNF609 is thought to be a viable diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for several diseases and might be a new therapeutic target, but further research is needed to accelerate clinical application. A chemical investigation of the CH2Cl2 extract of the marine sponge Leucetta chagosensis afforded 8 secondary metabolites, namely, pellynol A (1), pellynol B (2), pellynol I (3), pellynol D (4), plakohypaphorine B (5), plakohypaphorine E (6), 4-bromo-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxamide (7), and 2-phenylacetamide (8). The structures of these secondary metabolites were elucidated via NMR spectroscopic analysis, MS experiment and compared with those reported in the literature. This is the first report of compounds 1–8 isolated from the marine sponge genus Leucetta and from the class Calcarea. This work contributes expands the knowledge of the chemical diversity of calcareous marine sponges, and the chemotaxonomic significance of the isolates is also discussed. 相似文献

Mass-guided fractionation of the MeOH extract from a specimen of the Australian marine sponge Hyrtios sp. resulted in the isolation of two new tryptophan alkaloids, 6-oxofascaplysin (2), and secofascaplysic acid (3), in addition to the known metabolites fascaplysin (1) and reticulatate (4). The structures of all molecules were determined following NMR and MS data analysis. Structural ambiguities in 2 were addressed through comparison of experimental and DFT-generated theoretical NMR spectral values. Compounds 1–4 were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against a prostate cancer cell line (LNCaP) and were shown to display IC50 values ranging from 0.54 to 44.9 μM. 相似文献
