In this paper we present a technique to raise a flag on the fly when a transition occurs between different mucosal architectures on or below the surface. The segmentation is based on a novel difference metric for detecting an abrupt change in the parameters extracted from a Stochastic Decomposition Method (SDM) that models the scattered light reflected from the mucosal tissue structure over an area (2‐D scan) illuminated by an optical sensor (fiber) emitting light at either one wavelength or with white light. This work has the potential to enhance the endoscopist's ability to locate and identify abnormal mucosal architectures in particular when the disease is developing below the surface and hence becoming hidden during colonoscopy or endoscopic examination. The purpose of this report is to provide insight into how state departments are implementing legislative requirements for educator evaluation, particularly the specific circumstances states encounter around arts education. Spotlights on Delaware, a first-round recipient of Race to the Top funding, and Colorado and Arizona, third-round recipients, provide a variety of state-level approaches. Not only do the state contexts differ because of funding variability and level of focus on arts education, size and state laws around local control also play a factor in how states are able to implement educator evaluation requirements. To add to the complexity of this implementation, educator evaluation is a component within several education reforms in all disciplines, including new standards adoption, student assessment development and/or implementation, and need for professional development for arts educators. These multiple components play important roles in state efforts to meet educator evaluation requirements for arts educators. This report outlines each state context and other reform elements at play, and shares opportunities and challenges within the educational landscape. This report does not advocate for, speculate on, or share opinions about these efforts, as the primary role of state departments is to oversee, manage, and support schools and districts in any change process required by state and/or federal law. 相似文献

Handheld and endoscopic optical‐sectioning microscopes are being developed for noninvasive screening and intraoperative consultation. Imaging a large extent of tissue is often desired, but miniature in vivo microscopes tend to suffer from limited fields of view. To extend the imaging field during clinical use, we have developed a real‐time video mosaicking method, which allows users to efficiently survey larger areas of tissue. Here, we modified a previous post‐processing mosaicking method so that real‐time mosaicking is possible at >30 frames/second when using a device that outputs images that are 400 × 400 pixels in size. Unlike other real‐time mosaicking methods, our strategy can accommodate image rotations and deformations that often occur during clinical use of a handheld microscope. We perform a feasibility study to demonstrate that the use of real‐time mosaicking is necessary to enable efficient sampling of a desired imaging field when using a handheld dual‐axis confocal microscope. 相似文献

Malignant tumors have high metabolic and perfusion rates, which result in a unique temperature distribution as compared to healthy tissues. Here, we sought to characterize the thermal response of the cervix following brachytherapy in women with advanced cervical carcinoma. Six patients underwent imaging with a thermal camera before a brachytherapy treatment session and after a 7-day follow-up period. A designated algorithm was used to calculate and store the texture parameters of the examined tissues across all time points. We used supervised machine learning classification methods (K Nearest Neighbors and Support Vector Machine) and unsupervised machine learning classification (K-means). Our algorithms demonstrated a 100% detection rate for physiological changes in cervical tumors before and after brachytherapy. Thus, we showed that thermal imaging combined with advanced feature extraction could potentially be used to detect tissue-specific changes in the cervix in response to local brachytherapy for cervical cancer. 相似文献
