Effects of different concentrations of active ingredient of the herbicide pyramin on metabolic activities of Fusarium solani and Sclerotium rolfsii were examined. High concentrations of this herbicide (1000 and 2000 g mL-1 for F. solani and 100 and 200 g mL-1 for S. rolfsii) had inhibitory effects on the metabolic activities of both fungi. These were demonstrated by significant decreases in growth, and increases in rates of CO2 evolved, O2 consumed and keto acids produced. These were accompanied by increased rates of sugar, nitrate and inorganic phosphorus absorption as well as lowered rates of synthesis of carbohydrates and insoluble nitrogenous (including protein) and phosphorus (including RNA-P and DNA-P) compounds. In addition, rates of excretion of both nitrogen and phosphorus fractions by the mycelial mats were increased.A concentration of 25 g mL-1 exerted little or no effect on the metabolic activities of these fungi, although S. rolfsii was somewhat sensitive to this concentration.  相似文献

Two post-emergence herbicides (glyphosate and 2,4-D) were applied at field application levels to tilled field plots in a mixed cropping area in south-central Alberta. The effects of these chemicals on certain variables associated with microbial biomass and activity were monitored in these plots (as well as corresponding control plots) for 45 days. Glyphosate did not influence any of the microbial variables tested. Addition of 2,4-D significantly influenced all microbial variables investigated but these effects were transient, being detectable only within the first 1–5 days of herbicide addition. The effects of 2,4-D addition on the microbial variables tested, even when significant, were typically small and probably of little ecological consequence especially when spatial and temporal variation in these variables is taken into account.  相似文献

Small-scale spatial heterogeneity of soil organic matter (SOM) associated with patterns of plant cover can strongly influence population and ecosystem dynamics in dry regions but is not well characterized for semiarid grasslands. We evaluated differences in plant and soil N and C between soil from under individual grass plants and from small openings in shortgrass steppe. In samples from 0 to 5 cm depth, root biomass, root N, total and mineralizable soil N, total and respirable organic C, C:N ratio, fraction of organic C respired, and ratio of respiration to N mineralization were significantly greater for soil under plants than soil from openings. These differences, which were consistent for two sites with contrasting soil textures, indicate strong differentiation of surface soil at the scale of individual plants, with relative enrichment of soil under plants in total and active SOM. Between-microsite differences were substantial relative to previously reported differences associated with landscape position and grazing intensity in shortgrass steppe. We conclude that microscale heterogeneity in shortgrass steppe deserves attention in investigation of controls on ecosystem and population processes and when sampling to estimate properties at plot or site scales.  相似文献

Abstract. Apart from its impact on global warming, the annually increasing atmospheric [CO2] is of interest to plant scientists primarily because of its direct influence on photosynthesis and photorespiration in C3 species. But in addition, 'dark' respiration, another major component of the carbon budget of higher plants, may be affected by a change in [CO2] independent of an increase in temperature. Literature pertaining to an impact of [CO2] on respiration rate is reviewed. With an increase in [CO2], respiration rate is increased in some cases, but decreased in others. The effects of [CO2] on respiration rate may be direct or indirect. Mechanisms responsible for various observations are proposed. These proposed mechanisms relate to changes in: (1) levels of nonstructural carbohydrates, (2) growth rate and structural phytomass accumulation, (3) composition of phytomass, (4) direct chemical interactions between CO2 and respiratory enzymes, (5) direct chemical interactions between CO2 and other cellular components, (6) dark CO2 fixation rate, and (7) ethylene biosynthesis rate. Because a range-of (possibly interactive) effects exist, and present knowledge is limited, the impact of future [CO2] on respiration rate cannot be predicted. Theoretical considerations and types of experiments that can lead to an increase in the understanding of this issue are outlined.  相似文献

“秦冠”苹果种子的总呼吸强度和EMP途径的呼吸强度在2℃条件下层积之后逐渐增加,解除休眠临界期大体在层积后第30天发生,此后增长速度较快。HMP途径和TCAC在临界期之前变化极慢,而后急剧增加。种子萌发后子叶和胚轴的总呼吸强度、EMP和TCAC初期呈急剧上升趋势,大约当胚轴长度达2cm时迅速下降,HMP在萌发过程中始终呈上升趋势。细胞透性层积之后逐渐降低,解除休眠至萌发阶段呈上升趋势。用不同浓度呼吸抑制剂处理解除休眠种子的试验结果表明,除1mM碘乙酸能明显刺激萌发和生长外,NaCN、SHAM和丙酮酸都表现为抑制作用。  相似文献

When a new strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa was grown aerobically and then transferred to anaerobic conditions, cells reduced NO 3 quantitatively to NO 2 in NO 3 -respiration. In the absence of nitrate, NO 2 was immediately reduced to NO or N2O but not to N2 indicating that NO 2 -reductase but not N2O-reductase was active. The formation of the products NO or N2O depended on the pH in the medium and the concentration of NO 2 present. When P. aeruginosa was grown anaerobically for at least three davs N2O-reductase was also active. Such cells reduced NO to N2 via N2O. The new strain generated a H+-gradient and grew by reducing N2O to N2 but not by converting NO to N2O. For comparison, Azospirillum brasilense Sp7 showed the same pattern of NO-reduction. In contrast, Paracoccus denitrificans formed 3.5 H+/NO during the reduction of NO to N2O in oxidant pulse experiments but could not grow in the presence of NO. Thus the NO-reduction pattern in P. denitrificans on one side and P. aeruginosa and A. brasilense on the other was very different. The mechanistic implications of such differences are discussed.  相似文献

在33只麻醉家兔,观察了颈动脉内注入腺苷所诱发的平均动脉压、心率,呼吸和肾交感神经活动的变化。结果如下:(1)颈动脉内注入腺苷后,平均动脉压呈剂量依赖性下降;呼吸加快,深度变化不明显,剪断窦神经后注入腺苷,仍引起平均动脉压下降,而呼吸变化消失。(2)隔离的颈动脉窦灌流液内加入腺苷后,平均动脉压下降,心率减慢;颈动脉体(CB)失活后反应消失。(3)将腺苷灌注到颈动脉窦区后,平均动脉压下降,肾交感神经传出放电活动增加,CB 失活或剪断窦神经后,反应消失。由此提示:腺苷可作为兴奋 CB 的一种物质,引起平均动脉压降低,心率减慢,呼吸加强和肾交感神经放电活动增加。  相似文献

Respiration was measured in dauer stages of the insect-parasitic nematode Steinernema feltiae (= Neoaplectana carpocapsae) at 7, 17, and 27 C. Respiration, Q₁₀, and nematode viability were temperature dependent. Mean O₂ consumption for 5 × 10⁵ nematodes the first 24 hours was 0.27 ml at 7 C, 0.83 ml at 17 C, and 2.68 ml at 27 C. The Q₁₀ was 3.10 for 7-17 C and 3.24 for 17-27 C. Some nematodes died during 2, 14, and 21 days at 27, 17, and 7 C, respectively. The respiratory quotient was below 1 at all temperatures tested. A standard asymptotic model is expressed as oxygen consumed = 2.77 * {1 - exponent[-time * exponent(-B + C * temperature)]}; where 2.77 is the maximum response at 27 C. This model estimates nematode O₂ consumption and viability at storage temperatures between 7 and 27 C. The nematodes died when the O₂ concentration reached 0.5 ml/5 × 10⁵ nematodes. This model may be used to predict O₂ requirements of S. feltiae infective juveniles when stored as a waterless concentrate.  相似文献

Summary CO2 efflux from tussock tundra in Alaska that had been exposed to elevated CO2 for 2.5 growing seasons was measured to assess the effect of long- and short-term CO2 enrichment on soil respiration. Long-term treatments were: 348, 514, and 683 μll−1 CO2 and 680 μll−1 CO2+4°C above ambient. Measurements were made at 5 CO2 concentrations between 87 and 680 μll−1 CO2. Neither long- or short-term CO2 enrichment significantly affected soil CO2 efflux. Tundra developed at elevated temperature and 680 μll−1 CO2 had slightly higher, but not statistically different, mean respiration rates compared to untreated tundra and to tundra under CO2 control alone.  相似文献

Energy metabolism during dark respiration of the green alga Chlorella fusca was investigated by 31P NMR spectroscopy. The kinetics of the transition from anaerobic to aerobic conditions (and vice versa) was followed with a temporal resolution of 16 s. This transition is accompanied by a shift of the cytoplasmic pH from 6.8 to 7.4, while the vacuolar pH remains constant. Simultaneously, an increase in the concentration of nucleoside-triphosphates and a decrease in the concentration of cytoplasmic orthophosphate take place, as well as the formation of mobile polyphosphates. The concentration of ATP and P i reach steady-state levels within 30 s. Upon the reverse transition, from aerobic to anaerobic conditions, steady-state concentrations are obtained only after 3 min.  相似文献
