Lithium metal is the most promising anode material for high‐energy‐density batteries due to its high specific capacity of 3860 mAh g?1 and low reduction potential of ?3.04 V versus standard hydrogen electrode. However, huge volume change, safety concerns, and low efficiency impede the practical applications of Li metal anodes. Herein, it is shown that the nitrogen‐doped graphene modified 3D porous Cu (3DCu@NG) current collector can mitigate the above problems. The N‐doped graphene, coating on the surface of 3D current collector, not only contributes to a uniform Li+ flux, but also leads to a scattered distribution of electrons throughout the surface, finally contributing to a uniform Li deposition and the improved electrochemical performance. In addition, the continuously porous structure of 3DCu@NG provides a space for the metallic Li deposition and could effectually accommodate the volume expansion during cycling. As a result, the Li‐3DCu@NG anode exhibits a high areal capacity of 4 mAh cm?2, a high Li utilization of ≈98%, and an ultralow voltage hysteresis of ≈19 mV. The multifunctional N‐doped graphene modified 3D porous current collector promisingly provides a strategy for safe and high‐energy lithium metal anodes.  相似文献

Over the last 40 years, metallic lithium as an anode material has been of great interest owing to its high energy density. However, dendritic lithium growth causes serious safety issues. Awareness and understanding of the Li deposition and stripping processes have grown rapidly especially in recent years, and consequently, there have been many attempts to suppress the Li dendrites. Recent developments that have modified the electrolytes and the Li anode in order to inhibit the growth of Li dendrite and improve cycling performance are summarized. It has been shown that current density, solid‐electrolyte interphase (SEI) film, Li+ transference number, and shear modulus have significant impact on the growth behavior and the Coulombic efficiency. Various methods have been introduced to increase the surface area of the Li anode, enhance Li+ conductivity, form stable SEI film, and improve mechanical strength of electrolytes. These approaches are discussed in details, and the perspectives regarding the future use of Li anode are also outlined. It is hoped that this review will facilitate the future development of Li metal batteries.  相似文献

1. The nonhomogeneous spatial distribution of ionic channels in neurons has been implied from intracellular recordings at somatic and dendritic locations. These reports indicate that Na- and Ca-dependent regenerative currents are distributed differently throughout the neuron. Although a variety of K conductances and a noninactivating Na conductance have been described in intracellular studies, little is known about the spatial distribution of inward and outward currents throughout different regions of the neuron. 2. We recorded from cell-attached patches from cultured hippocampal cells from 1-day-old rats. The cells were cultured for 3-21 days. The spatial distribution of a variety of ionic channels was determined by comparing the conductances from somatic and dendritic membranes. Single-channel currents obtained from cell-attached patches were identified by the time course of ensemble (averaged) responses, voltage dependence, and the effect of channel blocking agents. 3. We consistently observed that only the rapidly inactivating inward current was localized to the soma. The other channel types that we studied, including an inward noninactivating, delayed rectifier and transient A-type currents, were observed in both the somatic and dendritic regions. 4. We suggest that the distribution of ionic conductances that we have observed may be functional in limiting excitability during development of neurons.  相似文献

Motoneuron loss is a significant medical problem, capable of causing severe movement disorders or even death. We have been investigating the effects of motoneuron loss on surviving motoneurons in a lumbar motor nucleus, the spinal nucleus of the bulbocavernosus (SNB). SNB motoneurons undergo marked dendritic and somal atrophy following the experimentally induced death of other nearby SNB motoneurons. However, treatment with testosterone at the time of lesioning attenuates this atrophy. Because testosterone can be metabolized into the estrogen estradiol (as well as other physiologically active steroid hormones), it was unknown whether the protective effect of testosterone was an androgen effect, an estrogen effect, or both. In the present experiment, we used a retrogradely transported neurotoxin to kill the majority of SNB motoneurons on one side of the spinal cord only in adult male rats. Some animals were also treated with either testosterone, the androgen dihydrotestosterone (which cannot be converted into estradiol), or the estrogen estradiol. As seen previously, partial motoneuron loss led to reductions in soma area and in dendritic length and extent in surviving motoneurons. Testosterone and dihydrotestosterone attenuated these reductions, but estradiol had no protective effect. These results indicate that the neuroprotective effect of testosterone on the morphology of SNB motoneurons following partial motoneuron depletion is an androgen effect rather than an estrogen effect.  相似文献

Uncontrolled growth of Zn dendrites is the main reason for the short-circuit failure of aqueous Zn-ion batteries. Using electrolyte additives to manipulate the crystal growth is one of the most convenient strategies to mitigate the dendrite issue. However, most additives would be unstable during cycling due to the structural reconstruction of the deposition layer. Herein, it is proposed to use 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium cation (BMIm+ ion) as an electrolyte additive, which could steadily induce the preferential growth of (002) plane and inhibit the formation of Zn dendrites. Specifically, BMIm+ ion will be preferentially adsorbed on (100) and (101) planes of Zn anodes, forcing Zn2+ ion to deposit on the (002) plane, thus inducing the preferential growth of the (002) plane and forming a flat and compact deposition layer. As a result, the Zn anode cycles for 1000 h at10 mA cm−2 and 10 mAh cm−2 as well as a high Coulombic efficiency of 99.8%. Meanwhile, the NH4V4O10||Zn pouch cell can operate stably for 240 cycles at 0.4 A g−1. The BMIm+ ion additive keeps a stable effect on the structural reconstruction of the Zn anode during the prolonged cycling.  相似文献

In Manduca sexta, the larval abdominal prolegs and their muscles degenerate at pupation. The proleg motor neurons undergo a period of dendritic regression, after which a specific subset of them dies. The surviving motor neurons undergo dendritic outgrowth during pupal-adult development, and most die after adult emergence. All of these events are regulated hormonally by ecdysteroids and juvenile hormone, but interactions of the motor neurons with other cells may potentially contribute as well. To investigate the possible influence of interganglionic neural interactions, we chronically isolated individual abdominal ganglia by severing the adjacent rostral and caudal connectives in the larval stage. Subsequent metamorphic changes in proleg motor neurons were examined in the isolated ganglia and ganglia adjacent to the isolated ganglia. Two abnormalities were observed: (1) some imprecision in the timing of motor neuron death, both at pupation and after adult emergence, and (2) the growth of ectopic neurites outside the neuropil boundaries during pupal-adult development (in ganglia with or without neuromas caused by connective transections). Other aspects of proleg motor neuron metamorphosis, including the segment-specific death of motor neurons at pupation, were the same as that in intact and sham-operated insects. Thus, interganglionic interactions appear to play a relatively minor role in the steroid-mediated metamorphic transformation of proleg motor neurons. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Abstract. The apex of the larval antenna of the crane fly Nephrotoma suturalis has 6 cuticular sensilla that stained intensely black with silver nitrate, which indicates their porosity. The large sensory cone is innervated by 14 neurons and the 3 small, smooth surfaced, conical pegs have 4 neurons each. The small and large cylindrical sensilla with their smooth walls and pleated apices are innervated by 4 and 6 nerve cells, respectively. The 15 sensilla on the apex of the maxillary palp are all stained by silver nitrate. These sensilla are of five types: 7 type A sensilla with a smooth surface, a distinct apical pore, and 3 or 4 neurons; 2 type B sensilla with a smooth surface, many pores, and 5 neurons; 1 type C sensillum with a grooved surface, a large apical pore, smaller pores in the grooves, and 6 neurons; 3 type D sensilla with a smooth surface, a grooved apex that is elongated into a projection, and 4 neurons; 2 type E sensilla with many pores covering the surface, leaf-like appearance, and 4 neurons. The number and types of sensilla are similar to those in other nematocerous larvae, but in the many different forms of sensilla and the structure of the sensory cone, these tipulid larvae differ greatly from other larvae of lower Diptera.  相似文献

Neurons born in the postnatal SVZ (subventricular zone) must migrate a great distance before becoming mature interneurons of the OB (olfactory bulb). During migration immature OB neurons maintain an immature morphology until they reach their destination. While the morphological development of these cells must be tightly regulated, the cellular pathways responsible are still largely unknown. Our results show that the non-canonical Wnt pathway induced by Wnt5a is important for the morphological development of OB interneurons both in vitro and in vivo. Additionally, we demonstrate that non-canonical Wnt signalling works in opposition to canonical Wnt signalling in neural precursors from the SVZ in vitro. This represents a novel role for Wnt5a in the development of OB interneurons and suggests that canonical and non-canonical Wnt pathways dynamically oppose each other in the regulation of dendrite maturation.  相似文献

Ongoing interest is focused on aqueous zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) for mass‐production energy storage systems as a result of their affordability, safety, and high energy density. Ensuring the stability of the electrode/electrolyte interface is of particular importance for prolonging the cycling ability to meet the practical requirements of rechargeable batteries. Zinc anodes exhibit poor cycle life and low coulombic efficiency, stemming from the severe dendrite growth, and irreversible byproducts such as H2 and inactive ZnO. Great efforts have recently been devoted to zinc anode protection for designing high‐performance ZIBs. However, the intrinsic origins of zinc plating/striping are poorly understood, which greatly delay its potential applications. Rather than focusing on battery metrics, this review delves deeply into the underlying science that triggers the deposition/dissolution of zinc ions. Furthermore, recent advances in modulating the zinc coordination environment, uniforming interfacial electric fields, and inducing zinc deposition are highlighted and summarized. Finally, perspectives and suggestions are provided for designing highly stable zinc anodes for the industrialization of the aqueous rechargeable ZIBs in the near future.  相似文献

The spinal cord of rats contains the sexually dimorphic motoneurons of the spinal nucleus of the bulbocavernosus (SNB). In males, SNB dendrites fail to grow after castration, but androgen or estrogen treatment supports dendritic growth in castrated males. Estrogenic support of SNB dendrite growth is mediated by estrogen receptors (ER) in the target muscle. ERα expression in cells lacking a basal lamina (referred to as “extra‐muscle fiber cells”) of the SNB target musculature coincides with the period of estrogen‐dependent SNB dendrite growth. In the SNB target muscle, extra‐muscle fiber ERα expression declines with age and is typically absent after postnatal (P) day 21 (P21). Given that estradiol downregulates ERα in skeletal muscle, we tested the hypothesis that depleting gonadal hormones would prevent the postnatal decline in ERα expression in the SNB target musculature. We castrated male rats at P7 and assessed ERα immunolabeling at P21; ERα expression was significantly greater in castrated males compared with normal animals. Because ERα expression in SNB target muscles mediates estrogen‐dependent SNB dendrogenesis, we further hypothesized that the castration‐induced increase in muscle ERα would heighten the estrogen sensitivity of SNB dendrites. Male rats were castrated at P7 and treated with estradiol from P21 to P28; estradiol treatment in castrates resulted in dendritic hypertrophy in SNB motoneurons compared with normal males. We conclude that early castration results in an increase in ERα expression in the SNB target muscle, and this upregulation of ERα supports estrogen sensitivity of SNB dendrites, allowing for hypermasculinization of SNB dendritic arbors. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
