128 fish species belonging to 54 families were collected from the mangroves of Pagbilao. Ambassis kopsi (Ambassidae) was the most abundant species.Fourteen environmental factors were correlated to the catch per unit time for some species. The occurrence of A. kopsi was positively correlated to nitrate in the water, carbon in the sediments and litter fall. Out of the 8 species investigated, 6 were positively correlated to litter fall. Three species showed positive correlation to phosphate in the water, two to organic carbon in the sediments, nitrate, silicate and pH, and one to salinity and carotenoids in water. The biomass of the total catch was correlated to carbon in the sediments and litter fall.  相似文献

Synopsis Young-of-the-year largemouth bass,Micropterus salmoides, were exposed to four concentrations of sulphuric acid (pH levels 7.2, 6.1, 4.8, and 3.7) for 30 days, and the frequencies of feeding acts and activity bouts, and time budgets were recorded. Juveniles at pH 6.1 and at pH 4.8 performed the two feeding acts, bites and orientations, more often, and spent more time feeding than bass at pH 7.2. Bass at pH 3.7, however, reduced feeding, and spent a significantly larger portion of their time hovering in the water column. Frequencies of comfort and agonistic acts increased with a decline in pH. Alterations of behavioural repertoires of young-of-the-year largemouth bass were useful indicators of sulphuric acid exposure.  相似文献

We used two different techniques to measure the recovery time of Photosystem II following the transfer of a single electron from P-680 to QA in thylakoid membranes isolated from spinach. Electron transfer in Photosystem II reaction centers was probed first by spectroscopic measurements of the electrochromic shift at 518 nm due to charge separation within the reaction centers. Using two short actinic flashes separated by a variable time interval we determined the time required after the first flash for the electrochromic shift at 518 nm to recover to the full extent on the second flash. In the second technique the redox state of QA at variable times after a saturating flash was monitored by measurement of the fluorescence induction in the absence of an inhibitor and in the presence of ferricyanide. The objective was to determine the time required after the actinic flash for the fluorescence induction to recover to the value observed after a 60 s dark period. Measurements were done under conditions in which (1) the electron donor for Photosystem II was water and the acceptor was the endogenous plastoquinone pool, and (2) Q400, the Fe2+ near QA, remained reduced and therefore was not a participant in the flash-induced electron-transfer reactions. The electrochromic shift at 518 nm and the fluorescence induction revealed a prominent biphasic recovery time for Photosystem II reaction centers. The majority of the Photosystem II reaction centers recovered in less than 50 ms. However, approx. one-third of the Photosystem II reaction centers required a half-time of 2–3 s to recover. Our interpretation of these data is that Photosystem II reaction centers consist of at least two distinct populations. One population, typically 68% of the total amount of Photosystem II as determined by the electrochromic shift, has a steady-state turnover rate for the electron-transfer reaction from water to the plastoquinone pool of approx. 250 e / s, sufficiently rapid to account for measured rates of steady-state electron transport. The other population, typically 32%, has a turnover rate of approx. 0.2 e / s. Since this turnover rate is over 1000-times slower than normally active Photosystem II complexes, we conclude that the slowly turning over Photosystem II complexes are inconsequential in contributing to energy transduction. The slowly turning over Photosystem II complexes are able to transfer an electron from P-680 to QA rapidly, but the reoxidation of QA is slow (t1/2 = 2 s). The fluorescence induction measurements lead us to conclude that there is significant overlap between the slowly turning over fraction of Photosystem II complexes and PS IIβ reaction centers. One corollary of this conclusion is that electron transfer from P-680 to QA in PS IIβ reaction centers results in charge separation across the membrane and gives rise to an electrochromic shift.  相似文献

We present a simple model describing the transition between the prefiring, firing and postfiring phases of a single neuron in a large neural net. This minireview makes an initial assessment of the progress made using anisotropy decay measurements for investigating the conformational changes and molecular dynamics in soluble systems. A critical analysis of available data is presented. The anisotropy decays of the tryptophan fluorescence of staphylococcal nuclease, adrenocorticotropin, melittin and of labeled transfer RNA were studied for investigating the functional conformational changes of these systems. The emissions of variously labeled immunoglobulins have been used to elucidate the conformations of these proteins before and after the binding of specific antibodies. Labeled myosin and its fragments have given information on the functional motions of the protein domains. The anisotropy decays of labeled and natural hemoglobin systems have been utilized for exploring the allosteric behavior of these molecules. The data suggest a wide applicability of this technique to the study of protein dynamics and conformational changes of macromolecules.  相似文献

在麻醉开胸狗观察了急性心肌缺血对血液流变学和心脏收缩功能改变的影响。在阻断狗前降支冠脉1h内,血液流变学各参数发生异常变化,表现为高、低切变率下全血粘度(ηbh、ηb1)、血浆粘度、血细胞压积和纤维蛋白原升高,红细胞电泳时间缩短。同步描记心电、心音和颈动脉搏动图而记录的心脏收缩时间间期,表现为射血前期(PEP)延长、左室射血时间(LVET)缩短和PEP/LVET比值增大。此外,动脉舒张压(DAP)升高,心输出量(CO)减少。上述各参数均与对照值有明显差异,P<0.05。缺血40min时,对ηb1和PEP/LVET或DAP进行相关分析,呈明显正相关,P<0.05;ηb1和CO呈明显负相关,P<0.01。结果提示,心肌缺血后发生的血液流变学异常变化,具有增加射血阻力和减少心输出量的作用。  相似文献

The fluorescence behavior of adenosine in neutral solution has been studied by time-resolved spectroscopy using synchrotron excitation and timecorrelated single photon counting, and by decay time measurements. Three emissions have been identified and correlated with three excitation spectra. The assignment of these transitions has been made by comparison with similar measurements on 6N, 6N-dimethyladenosine (6 DMA), and on adenosine in acid solution (ADO H+). It is proposed that two of the transitions of adenosine which correlate with 6DMA originate from coplanar and orthogonal rotational conformers of the amino group. The other transition, correlating with ADO H+ may originate either from the 3H-imino tautomer, or from a differently solvated rotational conformer.A partial presentation of this work has been made at the Second Congress of the European Society for Photobiology Padova, Italy, 6–10 September 1987  相似文献
