This article proposes methodology for assessing goodness of fit in Bayesian hierarchical models. The methodology is based on comparing values of pivotal discrepancy measures (PDMs), computed using parameter values drawn from the posterior distribution, to known reference distributions. Because the resulting diagnostics can be calculated from standard output of Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithms, their computational costs are minimal. Several simulation studies are provided, each of which suggests that diagnostics based on PDMs have higher statistical power than comparable posterior-predictive diagnostic checks in detecting model departures. Partial weight-bearing instructions are commonly given to orthopaedic patients and are an important part of post-injury and/or post-operative care. However, the ability of patients to comply with these instructions is poorly defined. Training methods for instructing these patients vary widely among institutions. Traditional methods of training include verbal instruction and use of a bathroom scale. Recent technological advances have created biofeedback devices capable of offering feedback to partial weight-bearing patients. Biofeedback devices have shown great promise in training patients to better comply with partial weight-bearing instructions. Rare earth (RE) metals are essentials for the manufacturing of high-technology products. The separation of RE is complex and expensive; biosorption is an alternative to conventional processes. This work focuses on the biosorption of monocomponent and bicomponent solutions of lanthanum(III) and neodymium(III) in fixed-bed columns using Sargassum sp. biomass. The desorption of metals with HCl 0.10 mol L(-1) from loaded biomass is also carried out with the objective of increasing the efficiency of metal separation. Simple models have been successfully used to model breakthrough curves (i.e., Thomas, Bohart-Adams, and Yoon-Nelson equations) for the biosorption of monocomponent solutions. From biosorption and desorption experiments in both monocomponent and bicomponent solutions, a slight selectivity of the biomass for Nd(III) over La(III) is observed. The experiments did not find an effective separation of the RE studied, but their results indicate a possible partition between the metals, which is the fundamental condition for separation perspectives. 相似文献

Meta-analysis is increasingly used in ecology and evolutionary biology. Yet, in these fields this technique has an important limitation: phylogenetic non-independence exists among taxa, violating the statistical assumptions underlying traditional meta-analytic models. Recently, meta-analytical techniques incorporating phylogenetic information have been developed to address this issue. However, no syntheses have evaluated how often including phylogenetic information changes meta-analytic results. To address this gap, we built phylogenies for and re-analysed 30 published meta-analyses, comparing results for traditional vs. phylogenetic approaches and assessing which characteristics of phylogenies best explained changes in meta-analytic results and relative model fit. Accounting for phylogeny significantly changed estimates of the overall pooled effect size in 47% of datasets for fixed-effects analyses and 7% of datasets for random-effects analyses. Accounting for phylogeny also changed whether those effect sizes were significantly different from zero in 23 and 40% of our datasets (for fixed- and random-effects models, respectively). Across datasets, decreases in pooled effect size magnitudes after incorporating phylogenetic information were associated with larger phylogenies and those with stronger phylogenetic signal. We conclude that incorporating phylogenetic information in ecological meta-analyses is important, and we provide practical recommendations for doing so. 相似文献

目的:探讨个性化后侧入路治疗单纯性胫骨平台后髁冠状面骨折手术方法。方法:12例单纯性胫骨平台后髁冠状面骨折的患者,采用后内侧或后外侧以及后内后外联合入路切开复位内固定治疗。结果:12例均获随访,随访时间8-24个月,平均13个月。患者膝关节功能评定按Hohl评分标准:优10例,良2例。复查X线片:骨折复位良好,关节面未见明显塌陷。结论:个性化后侧入路治疗单纯性胫骨平台后髁骨折冠状面可直视下暴露胫骨平台后髁,提供了更广阔的操作空间,有利于骨折的解剖复位内固定。 相似文献

近年来,1,3-甘油二酯(DAG)由于其广泛用途及健康作用日益受到人们的重视。报道了一种无溶剂条件下填充床反应器中连续酶促合成1,3-DAG的方法。研究了填充柱的长径比、进料体积流速、温度、底物摩尔比对酯化率和1,3-DAG产量的影响。结果表明固定化酶填充柱长径比7.8,亚油酸、甘油摩尔比1∶2 ,进料速度1.2mL/min ,65℃条件下酯化反应可实现脂肪酸酯化率、1,3-DAG纯度及生产效率的统一。填充床反应器中固定化酶连续催化酯化反应的一个主要问题即体系水分清除困难。实验研究了采用过量甘油吸附脱水的可行性,亚油酸、甘油摩尔比为1∶2时,可明显改善固定化酶的稳定性,增加LipozymeRMIM的使用寿命。连续运行10d ,残余酶活仍保持在80 %以上,而对照组则仅为52%。 相似文献

The objective of the research was to examine the effects of loading and posture on motoneuronal excitability of the triceps surae (TS) for patients with hemiplegia. Twelve healthy subjects and 12 patient subjects with post-stroke hemiparesis (onset period: 3–60 months) were enrolled in this study. The subjects were instructed to remain in quiet sitting with the test knee straight and three standing conditions of different superincumbent loads by shifting body weight to the test leg (10%, 50%, and 90% of body weight), while the H reflexes and M waves of the TS were measured. The results clearly indicated that H reflex amplitudes were not affected by different loading conditions in standing for both healthy subjects and patients who had a previous stroke. In addition, the H reflex amplitude in quiet standing for healthy subjects was significantly downward modulated relative to that in relaxed sitting with the test knee straight, but this posturally driven modulation was impaired in patients following stroke. Current electrophysiological findings imply that body weight as a means for rehabilitation facilitation had little immediate effect on paretic TS, and absence in postural gating of reflex excitability appeared to be an incentive for postural instability resulting from post-stroke hemiparesis. 相似文献

DNA extraction is a time-consuming and expensive component of molecular marker analysis, constituting about 30–60% of the
total time required for sample processing. Furthermore, the procedure for extracting high-quality DNA from tree species such
as cocoa differs from extraction protocols suitable for other crop plants. This is accompanied by problems in collecting leaf
tissues from field-grown cocoa trees, where storage facilities are not available and where transporting samples to laboratory
for immediate refrigeration is usually impossible. We preserved cocoa leaf tissues in the field in an NaCl-CTAB-azide solution
(as described in Rogstad, 1992), which did not require immediate refrigeration. This method also allowed preservation of leaf
tissues for a few days during transportation and protected leaf tissues from bacterial and fungal attacks. Once transported
to the laboratory, the samples were stored at 4°C for almost 1 y. To isolate good-quality DNA from stored leaf tissues, a
rapid semiautomated and relatively high-throughput protocol was established. The procedure followed a modified CTAB/β-mercaptoethanol
method of DNA extraction in a 96-well plate, and an automated system (i.e., GenoGrinder 2000) was used to grind the leaf tissues.
The quality of DNA was not affected by long storage, and the quantity obtained per sample was adequate for about 1000 PCR
reactions. Thus, this method allowed isolation of about 200 samples per day at a cost of $0.60 per sample and is a relatively
high-throughput, low-cost extraction compared with conventional methods that use manual grinding and/or expensive kits. 相似文献
