 The geographic distribution of allozyme variation within the Eurasian boreo-nemoreal woodland grass Melica nutans L. has been investigated together with a minor subset of other Melica species. Twenty alleles were found at nine polymorphic loci in M. nutans. Allelic richness was highest in areas central in the species' European distribution, i.e. in southern Fennoscandia. High population densities, reducing the effects of genetic drift, as well as accumulation of variation through long-distance gene-flow from different marginal populations, is proposed to explain high allelic richness in this area. Several alleles showed geographic patterns in distribution and frequency variation. However, these patterns were not congruent, e.g. some alleles appear to have migrated to northern Europe from the south-west whereas others may have spread from the east. Genetic distances between geographic regions, each consisting of 2–6 populations, were generally low between all Fennoscandian, Russian and Siberian regions, but much higher between western and continental European regions. On the population level, cluster analysis grouped populations from Siberia, Russia, coastal and lowland areas in Fennoscandia and British Cumbria into one subcluster whereas other subclusters contained mainly south-west European populations or populations from almost throughout the distribution range. A scenario with several independent glacial refugia in central Europe, south-western Siberia and possibly western Norway, and subsequent colonisation of Fennoscandia mainly from the east, but with some long-distance gene-flow from central Europe, is proposed. Species of the E. trachycaulus complex species are known for their morphological variability, but little is known about their genetic basis. The delimitation of taxa within the complex has been controversial and difficult. E. trachycaulus is predominantly self-pollinating, and lacks clear morphological boundaries between it and E. alaskanus. Another controversial taxonomic issue of E. trachycaulus is the relationships of this complex species to non-North American E. caninus. The objectives of this study were to examine genetic diversity and the systematic relationships among the species of the E. trachycaulus complex and their relationships with E. caninus, E. alaskanus and E. mutabilis. Random amplified polymorphic DNA method was used to study 35 accessions of E. trachycaulus complex and other Elymus species. Higher genetic variation was detected within species of E. trachycaulus complex. Eurasian accessions are as variable as the North American ones. Both UPGMA and NJ analyses did not show clearly separation among species of the E. trachycaulus complex. No clear association between geographic origin and genetic grouping among these species was found. Eurasian E. trachycaulus probably originated from multiple North American populations.  相似文献

在同倍体(homoploid)植物杂交-分化的物种形成(speciation)过程中,杂交后代与亲本之间的有效生殖隔离是新物种形成的关键。杂种与亲本在时间、空间、生态环境和基因水平上的隔离,保证了杂种后代的分化和稳定,并逐渐形成新物种。为了研究披碱草属(Elymus)含StY基因组四倍体物种的系统演化关系,本文对来自亚洲不同地理分布区的26种披碱草属植物进行了大规模的种间杂交和杂种F1减数分裂染色体配对行为的分析。结果表明各物种之间有不同程度的杂交亲合力,杂交结实率在各杂交组合之间有较大的变异(在4.8%-100%之间);但各物种之间的杂种F1完全不育。证明各物种之间形成了明显的生殖隔离。种间杂种F1减数分裂中期-I染色体配对分析的结果进一步表明,StY基因组随各披碱草属物种地理分布的不同而有不同程度的分化。来自同一分布区(如东亚或西亚分布区之内)物种的StY基因组分化程度较低,但来自不同分布区(如东亚和西亚)物种之间相同的StY基因组具有显著的分化。表明地理隔离对含StY基因组物种的分化起到了十分重要的作用。通过对种间和种内杂种F1的减数分裂异常现象和染色体配对频率变化规律的分析,作者认为细胞学水平的变化,如基因组同源性的分化和染色体结构的变异等都在杂种后代与亲本之间产生生殖隔离并逐渐形成新物种的进化过程中起到了积极的作用。  相似文献

Establishment of native plant populations on disturbed roadsides was investigated at Bryce Canyon National Park (BCNP) in relation to several revegetation and seedbed preparation techniques. In 1994, the BCNP Rim Road (2,683–2,770 m elevation) was reconstructed resulting in a 23.8‐ha roadside disturbance. Revegetation comparisons included the influence of fertilizer on plant establishment and development, the success of indigenous versus commercial seed, seedling response to microsites, methods of erosion control, and shrub transplant growth and survival. Plant density, cover, and biomass were measured 1, 2, and 4 years after revegetation implementation (1995–1998). Seeded native grass cover and density were the highest on plots fertilized with nitrogen and phosphorus, but by the fourth growing season, differences between fertilized and unfertilized plots were minimal. Fertilizers may facilitate more rapid establishment of seeded grasses following disturbance, increasing soil cover and soil stability on steep and unstable slopes. However the benefit of increased soil nutrients favored few of the desired species resulting in lower species richness over time compared to unfertilized sites. Elymus trachycaulus (slender wheatgrass) plants raised from indigenous seed had higher density and cover than those from a commercial seed source 2 and 4 years after sowing. Indigenous materials may exhibit slow establishment immediately following seeding, but they will likely persist during extreme climatic conditions such as cold temperatures and relatively short growing seasons. Seeded grasses established better near stones and logs than on adjacent open microsites, suggesting that a roughened seedbed created before seeding can significantly enhance plant establishment. After two growing seasons, total grass cover between various erosion‐control treatments was similar indicating that a variety of erosion reduction techniques can be utilized to reduce erosion. Finally shrub transplants showed minimal differential response to fertilizers, water‐absorbing gels, and soil type. Simply planting and watering transplants was sufficient for the greatest plant survival and growth.  相似文献

The taxonomic status of Hystrix and phylogenetic relationships among Hystrix and its related genera of Pseudoroegneria (St), Hordeum (H), Psathyrostachys (Ns), Elymus (StH), Leymus (NsXm), Thinopyrum bessarabicum (E(b)) and Lophopyrum elongatum (E(e)) were estimated from sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear ribosomal DNA. The type species of Hystrix, H. patula, clustered with species of Pseudoroegneria, Hordeum, Elymus, Th. bessarabicum and Lo. elongatum, while H. duthiei ssp. duthiei, H. duthiei ssp. longearistata, H. coreana and H. komarovii were grouped with Psathyrostachys and Leymus species. The results indicate that: (i) H. patula is distantly related to other species of Hystrix, but is closely related to Elymus species; (ii) H. duthiei ssp. duthiei, H. duthiei ssp. longearistata, H. coreana and H. komarovii have a close affinity with Psathyrostachys and Leymus species, and H. komarovii might contain the NsXm genome of Leymus; and (iii) the St, H and Ns genomes in Hystrix originate from Pseudoroegneria, Hordeum and Psathyrostachys, respectively, while the Xm in Hystrix and Leymus has a complex relationship with the E or St genomes. According to the genomic system of classification in Tiritceae, it is reasonable to treat Hystrix patula as Elymus hystrix L, and the other species of Hystrix as species of a section of Leymus, Leymus Sect. 用能自然产生2n雄配子的无融合生殖六倍体披碱草为材料,研究了无融合生殖披碱草的减数分裂行为。结果表明:2n雄配子的无融合生殖披碱草减数分裂行为较为异常。在间期细胞内经常有微核存在;在前期I,有倒位环、多介染色体等异常现象;在中期I,染色体有不等分裂的倾向;在后期I和末期I,有染色体的单极分裂(63.9%)、染色走向一极的倾向(21.7%)和多极分裂(3.3%)等现象,单极分裂的结果是不减数配子的产生。在减数分裂Ⅱ中,有高比例的二分子孢子(55.7%)和三分子孢子(23.7%)的形成,二分子孢子在发育后期也直接导致了2n配子的产生。因此,染色体的单极分裂、二分体和三分体形成这3种方式是披碱草2n雄配子的形成的主要途径。  相似文献

Summary Hordeum vulgare L. (2n=2x=14) was hybridized with Elymus patagonicus Speg. (2n=6x=42). The hybrid had 28 chromosomes, genomically represented as HSH1H2, and was perennial with a codominant phenotype. The chromosomes were meiotically associated as 19.6 univalents + 0.004 ring bivalents + 2.6 rod bivalents + 0.8 trivalents + 0.14 quadrivalents in 1,129 meiocytes, with a chiasma frequency of 4.77 per cell. The bivalent pairing presumably is an autosyndetic but modified expression of the H1H2 genomes of E. patagonicus, since ring bivalents were rare. This does not preclude the association of the H. vulgare H genome chromosomes with either H1 and/or H2 genomes of E. patagonicus to form bivalent or multivalent associations. A further evaluation of the genome homologies of H. vulgare, H. bogdanii, E. canadensis and E. patagonicus is proposed.  相似文献

AimsElymus nutans is one of the dominant plant species in alpine meadow. Purpose of this research was to study the effects of nitrogen and silicon application on leaf nitrogen content and net photosynthetic rate in this species to provide scientific basis for fertilization practice in alpine meadow.MethodFour levels nitrogen combined with four levels silicon was applied to E. nutans plants in the alpine meadow. Leaf nitrogen content and net photosynthetic rate of E. nutans were measured.Important findings The results showed that there was a significant improvement in leaf nitrogen content and net photosynthetic rate of the E. nutans with nitrogen or silicon application alone; However, there was a significant interaction between nitrogen and silicon treatments on leaf nitrogen content and net photosynthetic rate; Combining with the three different levels nitrogen, low level silicon (Si1) application did not increase leaf nitrogen content and net photosynthetic rate, but middle level silicon (Si2) could significantly increase the leaf nitrogen content; Combining with the low (N1) or middle (N2) level nitrogen, middle level silicon (Si2) application could significantly increase the net photosynthetic rate; Compared with that control without fertilization, the middle level nitrogen combined with the same level silicon treatment had the highest average of leaf nitrogen content and net photosynthetic rate, which increased by 119.99% and 85.70%, respectively. This study indicated application of nitrogen combined with silicon application enhanced leaf nitrogen content and net photosynthetic rate of E. nutans, and 8 g·m-2silicon application had the best result among other treatments.  相似文献

 Microsatellites are highly variable DNA sequences that can be used as markers for the genetic analysis of plants. The potential of microsatellite markers for use in a genetic diversity study in Elymus species was evaluated. Genomic libraries of Elymus caninus were constructed. The libraries were screened with two dinucleotide, (GA)n and (GT)n, and two trinucleotide repeats, (TCT)n and (CAC)n. A total of 19 positive clones were found for the two dinucleotide repeats; no positive clone was found for the trinucleotide repeats. Positive clones were sequenced to confirm the presence of microsatellites and to generate polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primers based on the sequences flanking the microsatellite. All sequenced (GA)n clones have repeats of n>10; over half of the (GT)n microsatellites have n<10 repeats. Primer pairs were designed and evaluated for 8 selected microsatellites. PCR products were amplified from 15 Elymus caninus accessions. The number of alleles found for the eight loci varied from 1 for ECGA89 and ECGT35 to 13 for ECGA22, as determined by non-denaturing polyacrylamide electrophoresis. Six microsatellite loci were found to be polymorphic in E. caninus. The eight primer pairs were tested on three other species; seven were successful in amplifying DNA from Elymus alaskanus and E. mutabilis, and four amplified DNA from E. caucasicus. Based on these results, microsatellites appear to be useful markers in detecting variation in E. caninus. Received: 8 September 1997/Accepted: 6 October 1997  相似文献
