Cytogenetic studies of recombination in males of Drosophila ananassae were carried out by examining F1 males derived from the mating of marker females, b se; bri ru of the BS stock, with males of two wild strains, TNG and L8. The male recombination values in both sections b-se (chromosome 2) and bri-ru (chromosome 3) are high in TNG F1 but extremely low in L8 F1 We demonstrate the presence of chiasmata in TNG F1 males at a frequency capable of accounting for the observed recombination values. A unique series of “iso-site aberrations” was also observed in TNG F1 males. Because of a parallelism in the distribution pattern between the chiasmata and the isosite aberrations, we propose that recombination in males of D. ananassae is meiotic in origin and that the iso-site aberrations are related to chiasma formation. 相似文献

Embryonic and larval development of the pike eel,Muraenesox cinereus, are described following natural fertilization in the laboratory. Eggs are pelagic and spherical with diameters from 1.8 to 2.1 mm and have a colorless, transparent chorion and numerous oil globules. Hatching occurs 36 hours after spawning at a water temperature of 25°C. Newly-hatched larvae are 5.8 mm in mean TL, and the number of myomeres averages 86. Absorption of the yolk is completed 8 days after hatching, at 9–10 mm TL. Larvae survive for 10 days without food supply. At this time they are 11.2 mm in mean TL and have 97 + 55=152 myomeres, which is a diagnostic character of this species. They have large eyes and well-developed jaws with sharp teeth. 相似文献

We report here on a comparative evaluation of PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) assays, and ascertain the clonal relationship between 13 enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157 : H7 strains isolated from fecal samples collected from three cows over a period of 2 months. PCR-RFLP analysis was carried out with either BglI or EcoRV digested LA-PCR amplicons, generated by targeting region V of the Stx-phage. While PCR-RFLP analysis placed these 13 strains into a single clonal type, pulsotyping analysis, as reported earlier, grouped these strains into four different PFGE subtypes of which three were closely related, while the other appeared to be different. The comparative analysis was extended further using two clonally different wild-type (3-0 and Sakai 215) strains and 17 derivative strains which had passed through an animal's gastrointestinal tract. The PCR-RFLP assay, which was not only able to differentiate the wild-type strains, but also placed the passaged derivative strains into their respective parental group, although PFGE patterns of the same set of strains resulted from different PFGE subtypes. These data indicate that PCR-RFLP is the more reliable and useful assay for a molecular epidemiological survey of enterohemorrhagic E. coli strains. 相似文献

All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) is known to reverse the anatomic and physiologic signs of pulmonary emphysema. However, the origin of the progenitor cells involved in this lung regeneration remains unclear. Recently, it was shown that bone marrow could be the source of progenitor cells for several cell types. Mice with elastase-induced emphysema were treated with ATRA, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), or a combination of both. ATRA or G-CSF promoted lung regeneration and increased bone marrow-derived cell (BMC) numbers in alveoli. Combined treatment of both had an additive effect, which indicated that BMC mobilization might be important in lung regeneration. 相似文献

We have established a new hematopoietic cell line from a patient with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), which was refractory anemia with excess blasts (RAEB). This cell line, designated TER-3, depends on several cytokines for long-term survival and growth, and requires interleukin-3 (IL-3) for continuous growth. Cytochemical analysis revealed that TER-3 cells are weakly dianisidine positive and nonspecific esterase positive, but peroxidase negative. The surface marker profile shows that the TER-3 cells are strongly positive for myeloid, lymphoid, and megakaryocytic antigens such as CD15, CD19, and CD61, and negative for some common multilineage antigens such as CD13, CD33, and CD34. Thus, this cell line has a multilineage phenotype, suggesting that the transformation event occurred in multipotent stem cells. Dianisidine- and nonspecific esterase-positive TER-3 cells increase with granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) rather than with IL-3. These results suggest that the cell line is useful for understanding the mechanism underlying G-CSF-associated hematopoietic cell differentiation and activation in the patient with MDS. 相似文献

Tissue repair often occurs in organs damaged by an inflammatory response. Inflammatory stimuli induce a rapid and massive release of inflammatory cells including neutrophils from the bone marrow. Recently, many studies suggested that bone marrow cells have the potential to differentiate into a variety of cell types. However, whether inflammatory stimuli induce release of bone marrow-derived progenitor cells (BMPCs), or how much impact the suppression of BMPCs has on the injured organ is not clear. Here we show that LPS, a component of Gram-negative bacterial cell walls, in the lung airways, induces a rapid mobilization of BMPCs into the circulation in mice. BMPCs accumulate within the inflammatory site and differentiate to become endothelial and epithelial cells. Moreover, the suppression of BMPCs by sublethal irradiation before intrapulmonary LPS leads to disruption of tissue structure and emphysema-like changes. Reconstitution of the bone marrow prevents these changes. These data suggest that BMPCs are important and required for lung repair after LPS-induced lung injury. 相似文献

Among D. bipectinata Duda, 1923, three subspecies, bipectinata from Southeast Asia (SEA) and Okinawa (OKN), szentivanii stat. nov. from Papua New Guinea (PNG) (Mather & Dobzhansky, 1962) and pacificiae ssp. nov. from South Pacific Ocean (SPO), are recognized. The external morphology of the reproductive organs and the numbers of teeth per row in the sex combs are different between the three subspecies. Furthermore, the sterility of hybrid males between strains from the different regions confirms the subspecies status of each population from SEA, PNG and SPO, together with different gene arrangements in the geographical populations. Although males of the strains from OKN (Okinawa), the northernmost population, show significant differences in the number of teeth of sex combs from males of SEA (Southeast Asia) strains, hybrid males between them are fertile. 相似文献
