Voltage-gated Na+ channels are expressed by highly metastatic MAT-LyLu cells, but not by poorly metastatic AT-2 cells, derived from the rodent Dunning model of prostatic cancer. We have investigated the possible involvement of these channels in the morphological development of the cells. Incubation of both the MAT-LyLu and the AT-2 cell line for 24 h with the Na+ channel blocker tetrodotoxin (TTX) at 6 μM altered the morphology only of the MAT-LyLu cell line. TTX produced significant decreases in: (a) cell process length and (b) field diameter, and increases in (c) cell body diameter and (d) process thickness. Importantly, 6 μM TTX had no significant effects on proliferation rates or cellular toxicity. The results suggest that Na+ channel activity plays a significant role in determining the morphological development of MAT-LyLu cells in such a way as to enhance their metastatic potential. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Motile activity of tumour cells is regarded as a critical factor determining their metastatic potential. We have shown previously that contrary to the majority of normal cells, homotypic contacts between some tumour cells, among them low metastatic (AT-2) and highly metastatic (MAT-LyLu) rat prostate cancer cells, increase the speed of their movements. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of heterotypic cell-to-cell contacts on the migration of rat prostate cancer cells differing in metastatic potential, and to correlate it with the intensity of homo- and heterologous gap junctional coupling. RESULTS: MAT-LyLu and AT-2 cells moving on the surface of fibroblasts displayed significantly greater cell displacement than those moving on plastic substrata. This effect correlated with the polarization (contact guidance) and increased speed of cell movements. However, in contrast with the migration on plastic substrata, where MAT-LyLu cells displayed considerably higher motility than AT-2 cells, no differences between both cell lines were observed on the surface of fibroblasts. On the other hand, in contrast with AT-2, Mat-LyLu cells displayed extensive homologous coupling mediated by connexin43 and were able to couple with normal fibroblasts. CONCLUSION: Heterotypic contacts between migrating prostatic cancer cells and normal fibroblasts can strongly stimulate their migration during invasion; however, this effect does not correlate with the gap junctional coupling between cancer cells and normal fibroblasts.  相似文献

The metastatic ability of prostate cancer cells involves differential expression of ionic mechanisms. In the present study, using electrophysiological recordings and intracellular Ca2+ measurements, we investigated Ca2+ related signalling in two rat prostate cancer (MAT-LyLu and AT-2) cell lines of markedly different metastatic potential. Whole-cell voltage clamp experiments indicated the absence of an inward current carried through voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels in either cell line. A Ca2+-dependent component was also absent in the voltage-activated outward K+ currents. Indo-1 microfluorimetry confirmed these results and also revealed marked differences in the resting level of intracellular Ca2+ and the ability of the two cell lines to regulate intracellular Ca2+. The weakly metastatic AT-2 cells displayed a significantly higher resting intracellular Ca2+ than the related but strongly metastatic MAT-LyLu cell line. Increasing extracellular K+ decreased intracellular Ca2+ in the AT-2 but had no effect on intracellular Ca2+ levels in the MAT-LyLu cells. Furthermore, increasing extracellular Ca2+ increased intracellular Ca2+ in AT-2 but, again, had no effect on MAT-LyLu cells. These results suggested the presence of a tonic, voltage-independent Ca2+ permeation mechanism operating specifically in the AT-2 cells. The influx of Ca2+ into the AT-2 cells was suppressed by both CdCl2 (100-300 microM) and SKF-96365 (10-30 microM). It is concluded that the strongly metastatic MAT-LyLu cell line lacks a voltage-independent basal Ca2+ influx mechanism that is present in the weakly metastatic AT-2 cells.  相似文献

Expression of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAr) and its involvement in cellular proliferation is well-known in tumors of neuronal tissue, such as glioma and neuroblastoma. We have investigated NMDAr expression in the normal, hyperplastic and neoplastic human prostate by immunohistochemistry. Low stromal NMDAr immunostaining was observed in 2 of 12 (17%) normal prostate specimens, but epithelial NMDAr staining was not seen. Of 18 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) specimens, none had stromal NMDAr staining, but 2 had low and 1 had high epithelial NMDAr immunoreactivity. Moderate to high NMDAr immunostaining was observed in the stroma of 60 of 145 (41%) prostate cancer (PCa) specimens. Epithelial NMDAr staining was low in 26 (18%) and moderate to high in 36 (25%) of 145 PCa specimens. We have also examined the effects of the NMDAr antagonist memantine on the growth of ten human cancer cell lines: four prostate, two breast and four colon. The NMDAr antagonist memantine inhibited in-vitro growth of all ten cell lines, with half-maximal growth-inhibition at 5 to 20 μg/ml (23 to 92 μM) memantine. An NMDA agonist, L-cysteinesulfinic acid, stimulated cellular proliferation of all ten cell lines, with maximal growth-stimulation (30% to 75%, depending on the cell line) observed between doses of 33 to 66 μM. Our data provide evidence for the expression and activity of NMDAr in prostate cancer.  相似文献

Since 1973, multiple effects of basic fibroblast growth factor have been described in a large number of cells. These effects include proliferation, survival and differentiation. The aim of this work was to study the intracellular pathways involved in the basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF2) effect on rat retinal cells proliferation in vitro. Our data show that treatment with FGF2 increases proliferation in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. The effect of 25 ng/ml FGF2 was blocked by 10 μM genistein, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor and by 25 μM LY294002, a PI3 kinase inhibitor. The concomitant treatment with 0.3 μM chelerythrine chloride, a protein kinase C inhibitor, and 6.25 μM LY294002 also inhibited the effect of FGF2. Our results suggest that the proliferative effect of FGF2 on retinal cell cultures involves the activation of distinct kinases.  相似文献

Prostate cancer is the most predominant cancer in men and related death rate increases every year. Till date, there is no effective therapy for androgen independent prostate cancer. Previous studies reported that aged garlic extract suppresses cancer growth. In the present study, diallyl disulfide [DADS], oil soluble organosulfur compound of garlic, was studied for its antiproliferative and induction of cell cycle arrest on prostate cancer cells in vitro. The suppression of cell growth was assessed by MTT assay. Induction of cell cycle arrest was assessed and confirmed by propidium iodide staining in flowcytometric analysis and western blotting analysis of major cell cycle regulator proteins. The results showed that DADS inhibited the growth of prostate cancer cells in a dose dependent manner, compared to the control. At 25 μM and 40 μM concentrations, DADS induced cell cycle arrest at G2/M transition in PC-3 cells. Western blotting analysis of cyclin A, B1 and cyclin dependent kinase 1 [CDK1] revealed that DADS inhibited the cell cycle by downregulating CDK1 expression. It is concluded that DADS, inhibits proliferation of prostate cancer cells through cell cycle arrest. Dose dependent effect of DADS on PC-3 cell line was observed in the present study.  相似文献

The secretory membrane activities of two rat prostate cancer cell lines of markedly different metastatic potential, and corresponding electrophysiological characteristics, were studied in a comparative approach. In particular, voltage-gated Na(+) channels (VGSCs) were expressed in the strongly metastatic MAT-LyLu but not in the closely related, but weakly metastatic, AT-2 cells. Uptake and release of the non-cytotoxic marker horseradish peroxidase (HRP) were used as indices of general endocytotic and exocytotic membrane activity, respectively. The amount of tracer present in a given experimental condition was quantified by light microscopic digital imaging. The uptake of HRP was an active process, abolished completely by incubating the cells at low temperature (5 degrees C) and suppressed by disrupting the cytoskeleton. Interestingly, the extent of HRP uptake into the strongly metastatic MAT-LyLu cells was almost twice that into the weakly metastatic AT-2 cells. Vesicular uptake of HRP occurred in a fast followed by a slow phase; these appeared to correspond to cytoplasmic and perinuclear pools, respectively. Importantly, the overall quantitative difference in the uptake disappeared in the presence of 1 microM tetrodotoxin which significantly reduced the uptake of HRP into the MAT-LyLu cells. There was no effect on the AT-2 cells, consistent with functional VGSC expression occurring selectively in the former. A similar effect was observed in Na(+)-free medium. The uptake was partially dependent upon extracellular Ca(2+) but was not affected by raising the extracellular K(+) concentration. We suggest that functional VGSC expression could potentiate prostate cancer cells' metastatic ability by enhancing their secretory membrane activity.  相似文献

Boron (B) is a developmental and reproductive toxin. It is also essential for some organisms. Plants use uptake and efflux transport proteins to maintain homeostasis, and in humans, boron has been reported to reduce prostate cancer. Ca2+ signaling is one of the primary mechanisms used by cells to respond to their environment. In this paper, we report that boric acid (BA) inhibits NAD+ and NADP+ as well as mechanically induced release of stored Ca2+ in growing DU-145 prostate cancer cells. Cell proliferation was inhibited by 30% at 100μM, 60% at 250μM, and 97% at 1,000μM BA. NAD+-induced Ca2+ transients were partly inhibited at 250μM BA and completely at 1,000μM BA, whereas both NADP+ and mechanically induced transients were inhibited by 1,000μM BA. Expression of CD38 protein increased in proportion to BA exposure (0–1,000μM). In vitro mass spectrometry analysis showed that BA formed adducts with the CD38 products and Ca2+ channel agonists cyclic adenosine diphosphate ribose (cADPR) and nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NAADP). Vesicles positive for the Ca2+ fluorophore fluo-3 acetoxymethyl ester accumulated in cells exposed to 250 and 1,000μM BA. The BA analog, methylboronic acid (MBA; 250 and 1,000μM), did not inhibit cell proliferation or NAD+, NADP+, or mechanically stimulated Ca2+ store release. Nor did MBA increase CD38 expression or cause the formation of intracellular vesicles. Thus, mammalian cells can distinguish between BA and its synthetic analog MBA and exhibit graded concentration-dependent responses. Based on these observations, we hypothesize that toxicity of BA stems from the ability of high concentrations to impair Ca2+ signaling.  相似文献

Previous work suggested that functional voltage-gated Na(+) channels (VGSCs) are expressed specifically in strongly metastatic cells of rat and human prostate cancer (PCa), thereby raising the possibility that VGSC activity could be involved in cellular behavior(s) related to the metastatic cascade. In the present study, the possible role of VGSCs in the lateral motility of rat PCa cells was investigated in vitro by testing the effect of modulators that either block or enhance VGSC activity. Two rat PCa cell lines of markedly different metastatic ability were used in a comparative approach: the strongly metastatic MAT-LyLu and the weakly metastatic AT-2 cell line, only the former being known to express functional VGSCs. Using both electrophysiological recording and a motility assay, the effects of two VGSC blockers (tetrodotoxin and phenytoin) and four potential openers (veratridine, aconitine, ATX II, and brevetoxin) were monitored on (a) Na(+) channel activity and (b) cell motility over 48 h. Tetrodotoxin (at 1 microM) and phenytoin (at 50 microM) both decreased the motility index of the MAT-LyLu cell line by 47 and 11%, respectively. Veratridine (at 20 microM) and brevetoxin (at 10 nM) had no effect on the motility of either cell line, whilst aconitine (at 100 microM) and ATX II (at 25 pM) significantly increased the motility of the MAT-LyLu cell line by 15 and 9%, respectively. Importantly, at the concentrations used, none of these drugs had effects on the proliferation or viability of either cell line. The results, taken together, would suggest strongly that functional VGSC expression enhances cellular motility of PCa cells. The relevance of these findings to the metastatic process in PCa is discussed.  相似文献

Summary The ethyl acetate extract from the culture of the fungus Agrocybe perfecta (Rick) Singer was selected for further study in a screening of Brazilian basidiomycetes for bioactivity. The extract showed significant activity against the recombinant enzyme trypanothione reductase (TryR) from Trypanosoma cruzi, lymphocyte proliferation in human peripheral mononuclear cells (PBMC) stimulated with phytohemaglutinin (PHA), and the human cancer cell lines UACC-62 (melanoma), MCF-7 (mammary), and TK-10 (kidney). The chromatographic fractionation of the extract was monitored by the above bioassays and showed that agrocybin was the active component. Agrocybin, a known polyacetylene amide, showed an IC50 of 2 μM in the TryR assay but killed only 60% of the trypomastigote form of T. cruzi in infected murine blood even at 680 μM. This weaker activity could be due to the low temperature used to mimic banked blood or as a consequence of its inactivation by blood, already reported in the literature. On the other hand, it inhibited the proliferation of PBMC by 50% at 3.4 μM and the growth of the cancer cell lines at concentrations between 9 and 24.5 μM. Measurements of DNA fragmentation using flow cytometry suggest that agrocybin promotes cell death via apoptosis.  相似文献

We have developed a simple yet effective apparatus, based upon negative pressure directed to the tip of a micro-pipette, to measure the adhesiveness of single cells. The “single cell adhesion measuring apparatus” (SCAMA) could differentiate between the adhesion of strongly versus weakly metastatic cancer cells as well as normal cells. Adhesion was quantified as “detachment negative pressure” (DNP) or “DNP relative to cell size” (DNPR) where a noticeable difference in cell size was apparent. Thus, for rat and human prostate and human breast cancer cell lines, adhesiveness (DNPR values) decreased in line with increased metastatic potential. Using the SCAMA, we investigated the effect of tetrodotoxin (TTX), a specific blocker of voltage-gated Na+ channels (VGSCs), on the adhesion of rat and human prostate cancer cell lines of markedly different metastatic potential. Following pretreatment with TTX (48 h with 1 μM), the adhesion values for the Mat-LyLu cells increased significantly 4.3-fold; there was no effect on the AT-2 cells. For the strongly metastatic PC-3M cells, TTX treatment caused a significant (∼30%) increase in adhesion. The adhesion of PNT2-C2 (“normal”) cells was not affected by the TTX pretreatment. The TTX-induced increase in the adhesiveness of the strongly metastatic cells was consistent with the functional VGSC expression in these cells and the proposed role of VGSC activity in metastatic cell behaviour. In conclusion, the SCAMA, which can be constructed easily and cheaply, offers a simple and effective method to characterise single-cell adhesion and its modulation.  相似文献

The effects of IGF-1, 17 β oestradiol and its functional interaction on lactotrophs cell proliferation were evaluated. In addition we investigated the involvement of PKC α, ɛ and phosphorilated ERK, in the mitogenic process. Primary cell cultures of adenohypophysis from female Wistar rats were studied in serum free conditions. The proliferation of lactotrophs was determined by double immunostaining for BrdU and PRL. The incubation with IGF-1 5, 30 or 100 ng/ml during 48 or 72 h increased lactotrophs proliferation two–threefold depending on IGF-1 concentration. Co-incubation of IGF-1 (30 ng/ml) with genistein (25 μM) or BIM (0.5 or 2 μM), lowered of tyrosine kinase receptor or of PKC respectively, inhibited the induced IGF-1 lactotrophs proliferation. 17 β oestradiol (1, 10 or 100 nM) had not mitogenic effect, whereas in the presence of serum PRL cells proliferation was stimulated. Co-incubation with 1 nM oestradiol and IGF-1 significantly decreased the lactotroph BrdU-labelling achieved with IGF-1. PKC α, ɛ and ERK1/2 levels measured by western blot augmented in the presence of IGF-1 and were inhibited with the addition of genistein, supporting a participation of these enzymes in the proliferate process. Co-incubation of IGF-1 with 1 nM oestradiol decreased both PKC isoforms and activated ERK1/2 levels, suggesting that oestradiol would exert its antiproliferative effect by acting on the signalling pathway of IGF-1. The results revealed antagonic effects of oestradiol on lactotroph proliferation depending on its concentration and the presence of IGF-1.  相似文献

Phenoxodiol is an isoflavone derivative that has been shown to elicit cytotoxic effects against a broad range of human cancers. We examined the effect of phenoxodiol on cell death pathways on the prostate cell lines LNCaP, DU145 and PC3, representative of different stages of prostate cancer, and its effects on cell death pathways in these cell lines. Cell proliferation assays demonstrated a significant reduction in the rate of cell proliferation after 48 h exposure to phenoxodiol (10 and 30 μM). FACS analysis and 3′-end labelling indicated that all three prostate cancer cell lines underwent substantial levels of cell death 48 h after treatment. Mitochondrial membrane depolarization, indicative of early-stage cell death signalling, using JC-1 detection, was also apparent in all cell lines after exposure to phenoxodiol in the absence of caspase-3 activation. Caspase inhibition assays indicated that phenoxodiol operates through a caspase-independent cell death pathway. These data demonstrate that phenoxodiol elicits anti-cancer effects in prostate cancer cell lines representative of early and later stages of development through an as-yet-unknown cell death mechanism. These data warrant the further investigation of phenoxodiol as a potential treatment for prostate cancer.  相似文献

Soy isoflavones represent hopeful unconventional remedies in the therapy of prostate cancer. The aim of our study was to determine the effects of genistein and daidzein on the parameters that reflect metastatic potential, membrane fluidity, invasiveness and dynamic phenotype in Matrigel of LNCaP and PC-3 prostate cancer cells. Cell viability tests, using a wide range of concentrations of soy isoflavones (6–75 μg/ml for 72 h), were conducted to determine their IC50 concentrations. Electron paramagnetic resonance investigations of prostate cancer cell membrane fluidity were performed at IC50 concentrations of genistein and daidzein (12.5 and 25 μg/ml, respectively, for 10 min). Genistein provoked significant increases in the membrane order parameter (which is reciprocally proportional to membrane fluidity) of 0.722 ± 0.006 (LNCaP), 0.753 ± 0.010 (LNCaP + genistein), 0.723 ± 0.007 (PC-3) and 0.741 ± 0.004 (PC-3 + genistein); however, no such effects were observed for daidzein. While both genistein and daidzein reduced the proliferation of prostate cancer cells at their respective IC50 concentrations, during the 72 h of incubation only genistein provoked effects on the dynamic phenotype and decreased invasiveness. The effect was more evident in PC-3 cells compared to LNCaP cells. Our results imply that (1) invasive activity is at least partially dependent on membrane fluidity, (2) genistein may exert its antimetastatic effects by changing the mechanical properties of prostate cancer cells and (3) daidzein should be applied at higher concentrations than genistein in order to achieve pharmacological effects.  相似文献

Apigenin (4',5,7,-trihydroxyflavone) is a flavonoid abundant in the common fruits, herbs and vegetables constituting the bulk of the human diet. This study was aimed at quantifying the effects of apigenin on the basic cellular traits determining cancer development, i.e. cell proliferation, gap junctional coupling, and motility, using the Dunning rat prostate MAT-LyLu cell model. We demonstrated that apigenin considerably inhibits MAT-LyLu cell proliferation and significantly enhances the intensity of connexin43-mediated gap junctional coupling. This effect correlates with an increased abundance of Cx43-positive plaques at the cell-to-cell borders seen in apigenin-treated variants. Moreover, we observed an inhibitory effect of apigenin on the motility of MAT-LyLu cells. The basic parameters characterising MAT-LyLu cell motility, especially the rate of cell displacement, considerably decreased upon apigenin administration. This in vitro data indicates that apigenin may affect cancer development in general, and prostate carcinogenesis in particular, via its influence on cellular activities decisive for both cancer promotion and progression, including cell proliferation, gap junctional coupling and cell motility and invasiveness.  相似文献

Some compounds derived from plants have been known to possess estrogenic properties and can thus alter the physiology of higher organisms. Genistein and daidzin are examples of these phytoestrogens, which have recently been the subject of extensive research. In this study, genistein and daidzin were found to enhance the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity of the rat neuronal cell line PC12 at concentrations as low as 0.08 μM by binding to the estrogen receptor (ER). Results have shown that this enhancement was effectively blocked by the known estrogen receptor antagonist tamoxifen, indicating the involvement of the ER in AChE induction. That genistein and daidzin are estrogenic were confirmed in a cell proliferation assay using the human breast cancer cell line MCF7. This proliferation was also blocked by tamoxifen, again indicating the involvement of the ER. On the other hand, incubating the PC12 cells in increasing concentrations of 17 β-estradiol (E2) did not lead to enhanced AChE activity, even in the presence of genistein or daidzin. This suggests that mere binding of an estrogenic compound to the ER does not necessarily lead to enhanced AChE activity. Moreover, the effect of the phytoestrogens on AChE activity cannot be expressed in the presence of E2 since they either could not compete with the natural ligand in binding to the ER or that E2 down-regulates its own receptor. This study clearly suggests that genistein and daidzin enhance AChE activityin PC12 cells by binding to the ER; however, the actual mechanism of enhancement is not known. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

A study was initiated to test whether the FM1-43 dye technique could beapplied to the study of endocytic membrane activity in two rodent prostatecancer (MAT-LyLu and AT-2) cell lines of markedly different metastaticability. The lipophilic dye FM1-43, which has frequently been used tomonitor endo/exocytic activity in excitable cells was employed. We found,as in excitable tissues, that both strongly metastatic (MAT-LyLu) andweakly metastatic (AT-2) cells in culture take up FM1-43 to give vesicularstaining of a variable pattern, which appeared to differ between the twocell lines. However, unlike excitable tissues, neither cell linesubsequently released the dye. Indeed, both cell lines retained the dyethrough several rounds of cell division suggesting that dye incorporatedby cells does not enter the endo/exocytotic cycle. Uptake of dye wasindependent of temperature, Na+/K+ gradients, pH or metabolism. Wesuggest that passive accumulation of FM1-43 can occur in cancer cells andshould not, automatically, be interpreted as evidence of endocytosis.  相似文献

It has long been observed that many cancer cells exhibit increased aerobic glycolysis and rely more on this pathway to generate ATP and metabolic intermediates for cell proliferation. Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) is a key enzyme in glycolysis and has been known as a housekeeping molecule. In the present study, we found that GAPDH expression was significantly up-regulated in human colorectal carcinoma tissues compared to the adjacent normal tissues, and also increased in colon cancer cell lines compared to the non-tumor colon mucosa cells in culture. The expression of GAPDH was further elevated in the liver metastatic tissues compared to the original colon cancer tissue of the same patients, suggesting that high expression of GAPDH might play an important role in colon cancer development and metastasis. Importantly, we found that 3-bromopyruvate propyl ester (3-BrOP) preferentially inhibited GAPDH and exhibited potent activity in inducing colon cancer cell death by causing severe depletion of ATP. 3-BrOP at low concentrations (1–10 μM) inhibited GAPDH and a much higher concentration (300 μM) was required to inhibit hexokinase-2. The cytotoxic effect of 3-BrOP was associated with its inhibition of GAPDH, and colon cancer cells with loss of p53 were more sensitive to this compound. Our study suggests that GAPDH may be a potential target for colon cancer therapy.  相似文献

Chemopreventive and cytotoxic effect of genistein against human breast cancer cell lines was investigated. Genistein inhibited cell proliferation in estrogen receptor-positive (MCF-7) and estrogen receptor-negative (MDA-MB-231) human breast carcinoma cell lines. Cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1A1-mediated ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD)activity was inhibited by genistein in a concentration-dependent manner. Genistein significantly inhibited 12-Otetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA)-induced cyclooxygenase-2 activity and protein expression at the concentrations of 10 (p < 0.05), 25 (p < 0.05) and 50 mM (p < 0.01). In addition, ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity was reduced to 53.8 % of the control after 6 h treatment with 50 mM genistein in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. These results suggest that genistein could be of therapeutic value in preventing human breast cancer.  相似文献

Capsaicin, the pungent ingredient of hot chilli pepper, has been recently shown to induce apoptosis in several cell lines through a not well known mechanism. Here, we investigated the role of the vanilloid capsaicin in the death regulation of the human cancer androgen-resistant cell line PC-3. Capsaicin inhibited the growth of PC-3 with an IC50 of 20 μM cells and induced cell apoptosis, as assessed by flow cytometry and nuclei staining with DAPI. Capsaicin induced apoptosis in prostate cells by a mechanism involving reactive oxygen species generation, dissipation of the mitochondrial inner transmembrane potential (ΔΨm) and activation of caspase 3. Capsaicin-induced apoptosis was not reduced by the antagonist capsazepine in a dose range from 0.1 μM to 20 μM, suggesting a receptor-independent mechanism. To study the in vivo effects of capsaicinoids, PC-3 cells were grown as xenografts in nude mice. Subcutaneous injection of either capsaicin or capsazepine (5 mg/kg body weight) in nude mice suppressed PC-3 tumor growth in all tumors investigated and induced apoptosis of tumor cells. Our data show a role for capsaicin against androgen-independent prostate cancer cells in vitro and in vivo and suggest that capsaicin is a promising anti-tumor agent in hormone-refractory prostate cancer, which shows resistance to many chemotherapeutic agents.  相似文献
