Phacelophrynium sapiense , a new species from Sabah, Malaysia, is described and illustrated. It differs from other known Phacelophrynium species in its light green to yellow leaf variegation, purple leaf underside, creamy white inflorescence and cream white flowers. The species is furthermore unusual in having a pair of membranaceous bracteoles associated with each flower, a feature otherwise known only in species of the New World genus Calathea.  相似文献

Field tests on attraction of Ctenarytaina thysanura (Hemiptera: Psyllidae) adults to different coloured 30×30 cm sticky traps revealed a preference for yellow. Among the enamel colours tested, more psyllids were captured on yellow traps followed by green, then blue and least on red, cyan and magenta. Dilution of yellow enamel with 50% white (1Y: 1W) and 75% white (1Y: 3W) to produce yellow-white hues resulted in a significant decrease in psyllid capture indicating that the psyllids response to yellow was one of positive attraction and could suggest true colour discrimination. Reflectance spectra of painted surfaces of the enamel colours and also yellow to white hues indicated that psyllid capture rates were directly related to the proportion of light reflected in the 500–560 nm region. The biological basis of the observed C. thysanura response may be that yellow is the most intensely reflective colour in the general part of the spectrum for leaves which reflect most light in the 500–600 nm (peak 550 nm) range.  相似文献

Shoots can be regenerated from leaf explants of most azalea (Rhododendron simsii) cultivars using a two-step protocol with a callus induction and a regeneration phase. This procedure is unsuccessful for a few cultivars, because of excessive callus production. In most such cases, shoot regeneration could be obtained in one step, starting from petioles as explants. Flower colour variations (the induction of sports) were frequently observed after regeneration. This phenomenon offers prospects for the enlargement of the commercial assortment but can also be used for the study of gene regulation processes in flower colour variegation.  相似文献

Summary Growth, nutrition and chlorophyll development were studied in chlorophyllous callus tissues isolated from the following edible angiospermous plants: carrot root, crown gall of tomato, endive embryo, leaf petiole and stem of lettuce, leaf petiole of parsley, pea stem and rose stem. Growth patterns of these tissues in vitro were sigmoid. Synthetic media produced less growth, in terms of fresh weight increase, than media containing coconut milk, a highly complex and little understood natural substance. Murashige and Skoog's synthetic medium proved useful for satisfactory growth and chlorophyll production in a number of tissues. Its usefulness was further increased by additional amounts of copper sulphate, potassium nitrate and monobasic ammonium phosphate. Increased levels of iron and magnesium inhibited growth. Incorporation of yeast extract in the tobacco-high-salts-medium produced the highest amount of growth and chlorophyll formation in endive tissue. Presence of exogenous sucrose was essential for the continued good growth of the above callus tissues in vitro. Highest amount of growth took place either in white light or in the dark. Different tissues had different responses to high or low intensities of light. Endive and carrot tissues produced in vitro were palatable to human taste. Endive tissue was particularly good as it also differentiated many small rosettes of leaves, shoots and had a mild aromatic flavor typical of the endive plants grown in nature.  相似文献

The immutans (im) variegation mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana contains green- and white-sectored leaves due to the action of a nuclear recessive gene. The mutation is somatically unstable, and the degree of sectoring is influenced by light and temperature. Whereas the cells in the green sectors contain normal chloroplasts, the cells in the white sectors are heteroplastidic and contain non-pigmented plastids that lack organized lamellar structures, as well as small pigmented plastids and/or rare normal chloroplasts. This indicates that the plastids in im white cells are not affected equally by the nuclear mutation and that the expression of immutans is ‘plastid autonomous’. In contrast to other variegation mutants with heteroplastidic cells, the defect in im is not maternally inherited. immutans thus represents a novel type of nuclear gene-induced variegation mutant. It has also been found that the white tissues of immutans accumulate phytoene, a non-colored C40 carotenoid intermediate. This suggests that immutans controls, either directly or indirectly, the activity of phytoene desaturase (PDS), the enzyme that converts phytoene to zeta-carotene in higher plants. However, im is not the structural gene for PDS. A secondary effect of carotenoid deficiency, both in immutans and in wild-type plants treated with a herbicide that blocks carotenoid synthesis, is an increase in acid ribonuclease activity in white tissue. It is concluded that the novel variegation generated by the immutans mutation should offer great insight into the complex circuitry that regulates nuclear—organelle interactions.  相似文献

植物枝干光合(Pg)固定其自身呼吸所释放的CO2,有效减少植物向大气的CO2排放量。以古尔班通古特沙漠优势木本植物白梭梭(Haloxylon persicum)为研究对象,利用LI-COR 6400便携式光合仪与特制光合叶室(P-Chamber)相结合,观测白梭梭叶片、不同径级枝干的光响应及光合日变化特征;同时监测环境因子(大气温湿度、光合有效辐射、土壤温度及含水量等)与叶片/枝干性状指标(叶绿素含量、含水量、干物质含量、碳/氮含量等),揭示叶片/枝干光合的主要影响因子;采用破坏性取样,量化个体水平上叶片与枝干的总表面积,阐明枝干光合对植株个体碳平衡的贡献。研究结果显示:(1)白梭梭叶片叶绿素含量是枝干叶绿素含量的12-16倍,各径级枝干叶绿素含量差异不显著;(2)枝干光饱和点低于叶片,枝干不同径级(由粗至细),暗呼吸速率和枝干光合逐渐减小;(3)光合有效辐射、土壤含水量和空气温湿度是影响叶片光合的主要因子,对枝干光合无显著影响;(4)枝干光合可以固定其自身呼吸产生CO2的73%,最高可达90%,枝干光合固定CO2约占个体水平固碳量的15.4%。研究结果表明,忽视枝干光合的贡献来预测未来气候变化背景下荒漠生态系统碳过程,可能存在根本性缺陷,并且在估算枝干呼吸时,需要考虑枝干是否存在光合作用,以提高枝干呼吸的准确性。  相似文献

以黄檗(Phellodendron amurense)无菌苗茎段为材料,MS附加1.5 mg·L-1 BA和0.5 mg·L-1 NAA为基本培养基,研究了不同滤光膜对黄檗茎段离体再生影响,并对再生过程中生理生化指标变化进行了研究。结果表明,蓝膜对不定芽再生有着明显的促进作用,再生频率达75.4%,平均每个外植体再生的不定芽数为14.7,其次为荧光和黄膜,红膜和绿膜不利于芽的分化。同时发现,蓝膜和荧光有较高的叶绿素含量、较低的chla/b比值。抗氧化酶的活性和可溶性蛋白的含量以蓝膜最高,荧光次之,绿膜最低。  相似文献

To understand how light quality influences plant photosynthesis, we investigated chloroplastic ultrastructure, chlorophyll fluorescence and photosynthetic parameters, Rubisco and chlorophyll content and photosynthesis-related genes expression in cucumber seedlings exposed to different light qualities: white, red, blue, yellow and green lights with the same photosynthetic photon flux density of 100 μmol m?2 s?1. The results revealed that plant growth, CO2 assimilation rate and chlorophyll content were significantly reduced in the seedlings grown under red, blue, yellow and green lights as compared with those grown under white light, but each monochromatic light played its special role in regulating plant morphogenesis and photosynthesis. Seedling leaves were thickened and slightly curled; Rubisco biosynthesis, expression of the rca, rbcS and rbcL, the maximal photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm) and quantum yield of PSII electron transport (ФPSII) were all increased in seedlings grown under blue light as compared with those grown under white light. Furthermore, the photosynthetic rate of seedlings grown under blue light was significantly increased, and leaf number and chlorophyll content of seedlings grown under red light were increased as compared with those exposed to other monochromatic lights. On the contrary, the seedlings grown under yellow and green lights were dwarf with the new leaves etiolated. Moreover, photosynthesis, Rubisco biosynthesis and relative gene expression were greatly decreased in seedlings grown under yellow and green light, but chloroplast structural features were less influenced. Interestingly, the Fv/Fm, ФPSII value and chlorophyll content of the seedlings grown under green light were much higher than those grown under yellow light.  相似文献

To establish a model system for alteration of flower color by carotenoid pigments, we modified the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway of Lotus japonicus using overexpression of the crtW gene isolated from marine bacteria Agrobacterium aurantiacum and encoding β-carotene ketolase (4,4′-β-oxygenase) for the production of pink to red color ketocarotenoids. The crtW gene with the transit peptide sequence of the pea Rubisco small subunit under the regulation of the CaMV35S promoter was introduced to L. japonicus. In most of the resulting transgenic plants, the color of flower petals changed from original light yellow to deep yellow or orange while otherwise exhibiting normal phenotype. HPLC and TLC analyses revealed that leaves and flower petals of these plants accumulated novel carotenoids, believed to be ketocarotenoids consisting of including astaxanthin, adonixanthin, canthaxanthin and echinenone. Results indicated that modification of the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway is a means of altering flower color in ornamental crops.  相似文献

以当年生盆栽金花茶实生苗为材料,研究不同程度的强光胁迫(25%、50%和100%自然光强,以8%自然光强为对照)对其生长、生物量、叶片光合色素含量、叶绿素荧光参数的影响。结果表明:在不同程度的强光胁迫下,金花茶幼苗的生长均受到抑制,随着胁迫程度的增强,金花茶叶片颜色由深绿变为浅绿、黄绿色,叶片灼伤愈来愈严重;植株抽稍时间推迟,抽稍后长出的新叶长势较差;幼苗死亡率越来越高。幼苗根生物量、茎生物量、叶生物量和总生物量均随胁迫程度的升高而显著降低,强光胁迫对叶生物量的影响最大,根生物量次之,对茎生物量的影响最小。随着胁迫程度的增强,叶片叶绿素总量(Chl)、叶绿素a(Chla)、叶绿素b(Chlb)含量均显著降低,Chla/Chlb和Car/Chl显著升高。叶绿素荧光参数FoFmFvFv/FmFv/Fo均随胁迫程度的升高降低,强光胁迫使PSⅡ受到了伤害,光合作用原初反应过程受抑制,光合电子传递受到影响,从而抑制植株的正常生长。  相似文献

Morphological responses of American cranberry (Vacciniummacrocarpon Ait, Ericaceae) to different light conditions (red,far-red, white light and sunlight) were examined. Root growth and development,stem elongation, leaf enlargement, de-etiolation of stem and leaf, flower budformation, and flowering of American cranberry were measured under each lightcondition and in the dark. It was found that red light promotes development ofroots and leaves, flowering, and de-etiolation of stem and leaf of Americancranberry. Stem elongation and etiolation of stem and leaf were shown infar-redlight and dark. Anthocyanin biosynthesis as phytochemical response in cranberryplants was most sensitive to red light. Estimation of anthocyanin levels indifferent parts of cranberry plant suggested that anthocyanins were presentonlyin red fruit skins, and not in peeled fruits, green fruits, green leaves, greenstems, roots and seeds.  相似文献

Anthers cultures of six Polish cultivars of pasture lupin (Lupinus L.) were examined for their androgenic response. Anthers with microspores at the uninucleate stage were isolated from flower buds and cultured in liquid media. Better viability of androgenetic structures was obtained when donor plants had grown under field as opposed to greenhouse conditions. A density of five anthers per 0.5 ml medium was more conducive to androgenetic induction than 25 anthers per 0.5 ml medium. Addition of 5% maltose to the induction medium and culture at 25°C without pre-treatment of flowers, buds or anthers promoted microspore release and division. The greatest frequency of androgenic callus, ~70% was developed from cvs. Katon, Wat (white lupin), in contrast to cvs. Legat, Juno (yellow lupin), Polonez and Sonet (narrow-leafed lupin) with callus induction ~30–40%. Despite various combinations of media tested, plant regeneration was not obtained from anther derived callus.  相似文献

金叶连翘不同冠层的成熟叶片呈现为不同颜色。以朝鲜连翘深绿色叶为对照,观察金叶连翘冠层上、中、下位叶色,测定其叶片大小和叶绿素a、叶绿素b、总叶绿素及类胡萝卜素含量,同时观察分析叶片横切面解剖结构,旨在阐明叶片色素含量和解剖结构对叶色的影响。研究表明:上层黄色、中层黄绿色、下层浅绿色,黄、黄绿、浅绿色叶总叶绿素含量分别是对照组的0.51%、4.44%和66.47%,均极显著低于对照(P <0.01),但黄绿叶的叶绿素a/b比值显著升高(P <0.05),黄、黄绿叶的总叶绿素/类胡萝卜素比值极显著降低(P <0.01)。黄、黄绿叶的叶绿体发育停滞于单片层时期,类囊体分化程度低,浅绿叶类囊基粒片层肿胀;黄叶细胞器降解,栅栏组织细胞形状难以辨别,黄绿叶上表皮细胞凸起。金叶连翘属于总叶绿素及叶绿素b合成减少型突变体,表现为叶绿素严重缺失,类胡萝卜素相对含量升高;其叶绿体发育停滞,类囊体结构异常,是金叶连翘叶片呈现不同颜色的主要因素,与其叶片解剖显微结构无关。  相似文献

A new subspecies Crocus antalyensis subsp. striatus subsp. nov. from western Turkey is described. It is characterized by rough papery, light brown corm tunics, leaves that exceed the flower at anthesis and are recurved, distinctly striped inner perianth segments and deeply branched pale yellow or white style. 为探究秋季枫叶呈色的关键生理因素,该文以转色期叶色为绿色、黄色和红色的枫香单株为试材,研究了L*、a*、b*值变化与叶片色素、可溶性糖及可溶性蛋白质含量变化的相关性。结果表明:(1)在变色期,3种色彩枫香叶片叶绿素a、叶绿素b、总叶绿素和类胡萝卜素均大量降解,花色素苷不同程度积累。(2)绿色叶单株叶绿素和类胡萝卜素始终保持较高含量,花色素苷含量上升4.2倍,叶片内色素含量比值始终保持稳定; 黄色叶单株叶绿素和类胡萝卜素含量最低,花色素苷含量上升4.4倍,b*值与叶绿素含量极显著负相关,与类胡萝卜素含量显著负相关,与花色素苷/类胡萝卜素含量比值极显著正相关; 红色叶单株叶绿素和类胡萝卜素含量略高于黄色叶单株,花色素苷含量上升27.2倍,a*值与叶绿素含量、类胡萝卜素含量极显著负相关,与花色素苷含量显著正相关,与色素含量比值无显著相关性。(3)红色叶单株具有较高的可溶性糖含量和可溶性蛋白质含量。因此,在枫香叶片变色期,保持较高的叶绿素和类胡萝卜素含量,维持色素含量比值稳定使叶片呈现绿色; 叶绿素和类胡萝卜素的大量降解,以及花色素苷/类胡萝卜素含量比值的升高使叶片呈现黄色; 叶绿素的降解和花色素苷的大量合成使叶片呈现红色。  相似文献

Plinius the Elder (23–79 A.D.) noted the existence of variegated varieties of ivy. But only subsequent to the middle of the last century, when botanists detected chloroplasts and began to study their origin, did variegation of leaves begin to be investigated scientifically. The white, yellow, or yellow-green parts of the many species of variegated leaves contain either leucoplasts, plastids in various stages of degeneration leading to their complete disappearance, or plastids containing only carotene or xanthophyll. In some cases normal and abnormal plastids are found together in “mixed” cells. In some cases the variegation is temperature and/or light sensitive.  相似文献

Jasmonates Inhibit Flowering in Short-Day Plant Pharbitis nil   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The role of jasmonates in the photoperiodic flower induction of short-day plant Pharbitis nil was investigated. The plants were grown in a special cycle: 72 h of darkness, 24 h of white light with lowered intensity, 24-h long inductive night, 14 days of continuous light. At 4 h of inductive night the cotyledons of non-induced plants contained about two times the amount of endogenous jasmonates (JA/JA-Me) compared to those induced. A 15-min long pulse of far red light (FR) applied at the end of a 24-h long white light phase inhibited flowering of P. nil. The concentration of jasmonates at 2 and 4 h of inductive night in the cotyledons of the plants treated with FR was similar. Red light (R) could reverse the effect of FR. R light applied after FR light decreased the content of jasmonates by about 50%. Methyl jasmonate (JA-Me) applied to cotyledons, shoot apices and cotyledon petioles of P. nil inhibited the formation of flower buds during the first half of a 24-h long inductive or 14-h long subinductive night. Application of JA-Me to the cotyledons was the most effective. None of the plants treated with JA-Me on the cotyledons in the middle of the inductive night formed terminal flower buds. The aspirin, ibuprofen and phenidone, jasmonates biosynthesis inhibitors partially reversed the effect of FR, stimulating the formation of axillary and terminal flower buds. Thus, the results obtained suggests that phytochrome system control both the photoperiodic flower induction and jasmonates metabolism. Jasmonates inhibit flowering in P. nil.  相似文献

The white smut fungus (Entyloma ageratinae) and the gall fly (Procecidochares alani) were released in New Zealand in 1998 and 2001 respectively to suppress mist flower (Ageratina riparia). The fungus established and spread rapidly, crossing 80 km of sea to Great Barrier Island within 2 years. The mean number of P. alani galls increased exponentially to 1.96/stem at release sites, but dispersal was slow. The impact of the biocontrol agents was monitored once annually from 1998/99 to 2003/04, at up to 51 sites in the North Island. The mean percentage of live leaves infected with fungus rapidly reached nearly 60%. Maximum plant height declined significantly. In heavy infestations, mean percentage cover of mist flower declined from 81 to 1.5%. Galls were only recorded towards the end of the impact study, and at low mean numbers. As mist flower declined, the species richness and mean percentage cover of native plants increased. In contrast, the species richness and mean percentage cover of exotic plants (excluding mist flower) did not change significantly. Many plant species colonizing the plots were important native mid- or late-successional shrubs or trees. With few exceptions, the exotic plant species common in the plots were not weeds that appeared to threaten native forest habitats. There was only a weak “replacement weed effect” from the potentially serious invader African club moss (Selaginella kraussiana). These data, together with reports of reduced threats to rare endemic plants from mist flower, suggest this rapid, well-monitored weed biocontrol program was very successful.  相似文献

Bot. 46(1) : 1-11. Illus. 1959.—A single gene gh determines a condition of variable chlorophyll deficiency in the tomato. Two independent mutations have been recorded at this locus, and both mutants exhibit the same phenotype. Linkage tests ascertained that the locus of gh lies between hl and j in group V. Graft and inoculation experiments prove that the gh phenotype is not caused by a virus. The mutant seedlings have cotyledons that can be identified by their partial chlorophyll deficiency. First true leaves may rarely have normal morphology and pigmentation; in most seedlings they show a mosaic of normal and chlorotic tissue. With subsequent growth, the plant rapidly reaches a condition of complete chlorophyll deficiency. Two constant levels of deficiency have been observed: a common white phase with very little or no chlorophyll and an infrequent yellow phase with about 5% of the normal chlorophyll content present in irregularly distributed chloroplasts. In both phases leaf lamina structure is drastically modified; petioles, stems, flowers, and fruits are much less affected. Sporadic islands of normal green coloration appear in the otherwise stable white or yellow phase. The degree of chlorophyll development is subject to great environmental modification but no evidence was obtained for genetic control in addition to the determination by gh. Depending upon environment, most gh seedlings perish before fruiting, but those with sufficient chlorophyll flower and set fruits with seeds after self-or cross-pollination. Most gh fruits remain white until mature, when the normal yellow epidermal pigment appears, the interior remaining white; occasional streaks or patches of chlorophyll that develop on immature fruits turn reddish at maturity. Seeds from such sectors, like all other seeds harvested from selfed gh plants, give rise only to gh progeny, thereby rendering improbable a mutational basis for the sporadic reversions to green. Applications of gh to further genetic and physiological studies are discussed.  相似文献
