Developing low‐cost, highly efficient, and robust earth‐abundant electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is critical for the scalable production of clean and sustainable hydrogen fuel through electrochemical water splitting. This study presents a facile approach for the synthesis of nanostructured pyrite‐phase transition metal dichalcogenides as highly active, earth‐abundant catalysts in electrochemical hydrogen production. Iron disulfide (FeS2) nanoparticles are in situ loaded and stabilized on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) through a current‐induced high‐temperature rapid thermal shock (≈12 ms) of crushed iron pyrite powder. FeS2 nanoparticles embedded in between RGO exhibit remarkably improved electrocatalytic performance for HER, achieving 10 mA cm?2 current at an overpotential as low as 139 mV versus a reversible hydrogen electrode with outstanding long‐term stability under acidic conditions. The presented strategy for the design and synthesis of highly active earth‐abundant nanomaterial catalysts paves the way for low‐cost and large‐scale electrochemical energy applications.  相似文献

The advancement of electrochemical energy storage is closely bound up with the breakthrough of controllable fabrication of energy materials. Inspired by a popcorn fabrication from corn raw, herein a unique porous macrocellular carbon composed of cross‐linked nano/microsheets by a powerful puffing of rice precursor is described. The rice is directly puffed with a volume enlargement of ≈20 times when it is instantaneously released from a sealed environment with a high pressure of 1.0 MPa at 200 °C. Interestingly, when metal (e.g., Ni) nanoparticles are embedded in the puffed rice derived carbon (PRC), high‐quality PRC/metal composites are achieved with attractive properties of a high electrical conductivity of ≈7.2 × 104 S m?1, a large porosity of 85.1%, and a surface area of 1492.2 m2 g?1. The PRC/Ni are employed as a host in lithium–sulfur batteries. The designed PRC/Ni/S electrode exhibits a high reversible capacity of 1257.2 mA h g?1 at 0.2 C, a prolonged cycle life (821 mA h g?1 after 500 cycles), and enhanced rate capability, much better than other counterparts (PRC/S and rGO/S). The excellent properties are attributed to the advantages of PRC/Ni network with a high electrical conductivity, strong adsorption/blocking ability for polysulfides, and interconnected porous framework.  相似文献

The intricate charge–discharge reactions and bad conductivity nature of sulfur determine the extreme importance of cathode engineering for Li–S batteries. Herein, spinel ZnCo2O4 porous particles@N‐doped reduced graphene oxide (ZnCo2O4@N‐RGO) are prepared via the combined procedures of refluxing and hydrothermal treatment, consisting of interconnected uniform ZnCo2O4 nanocubes with an average size of 5 nm anchored on graphene nanosheets. The as‐obtained composite can act as an inimitable cathode scaffold to suppress the shuttling of polysulfides by chemical confinement of ZnCo2O4 and N‐RGO for the first time, as demonstrated by the adsorption energy of ZnCo2O4 to Li2S4 via the strong chemical bonding between Zn or Co and S. The RGO nanosheets with a relatively high specific surface area provide a good conductive network and structural stability. The introduction of doped N atoms and numerous ZnCo2O4 porous nanoparticles can inhibit the transfer of lithium polysulfides between the cathode and anode. Due to the unique structural and compositional features, the as‐obtained hybrid materials with the high sulfur loading of 71% and even 82% still deliver high specific capacity, good rate capability, and enhanced cycling stability with exceptionally high initial Coulombic efficiency, which displays a high utilization of sulfur.  相似文献

The scalable synthesis of highly transparent and robust sub‐monolayers of Co3O4 nano‐islands, which efficiently catalyze water oxidation, is reported. Rapid aerosol deposition of Co3O4 nanoparticles and thermally induced self‐organization lead to an ultra‐fine nano‐island morphology with more than 94% light transmission at a wavelength of 500 nm. These transparent sub‐monolayers demonstrate a remarkable mass‐weighted water oxidation activity of 2070–2350 A gCo3O4?1 and per‐metal turnover frequency of 0.38–0.62 s?1 at an overpotential of 400 mV in 1 m NaOH aqueous solution. This mixed valent cobalt oxide structure exhibits excellent long‐term electrochemical and mechanical stability preserving the initial catalytic activity over more than 12 h of constant current electrolysis and 1000 consecutive voltammetric cycles. The potential of the Co3O4 nano‐islands for photoelectrochemical water splitting has been demonstrated by incorporation of co‐catalysts in GaN nanowire photoanodes. The Co3O4‐GaN photoanodes reveal significantly reduced onset overpotentials, improved photoresponse and photostability compared to the bare GaN ones. These findings provide a highly performing catalyst structure and a scalable synthesis method for the engineering of efficient photoanodes for integrated solar water‐splitting cells.  相似文献

Bifunctional oxygen catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) with high activities and low‐cost are of prime importance and challenging in the development of fuel cells and rechargeable metal–air batteries. This study reports a porous carbon nanomaterial loaded with cobalt nanoparticles (Co@NC‐x/y) derived from pyrolysis of a Co/Zn bimetallic zeolitic imidazolite framework, which exhibits incredibly high activity as bifunctional oxygen catalysts. For instance, the optimal catalyst of Co@NC‐3/1 has the interconnected framework structure between porous carbon and embedded carbon nanotubes, which shows the superb ORR activity with onset potential of ≈1.15 V and half‐wave potential of ≈0.93 V. Moreover, it presents high OER activity that can be further enhanced to over commercial RuO2 by P‐doped with overpotentials of 1.57 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode at 10 mA cm?2 and long‐term stability for 2000 circles and a Tafel slope of 85 mV dec?1. Significantly, the nanomaterial demonstrates better catalytic performance and durability than Pt/C for ORR and commercial RuO2 and IrO2 for OER. These findings suggest the importance of a synergistic effect of graphitic carbon, nanotubes, exposed Co–Nx active sites, and interconnected framework structure of various carbons for bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts.  相似文献

Flexible and 3D carbon aerogels (CAs) composed of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with carbon shell‐confined binary palladium–nickel (Pdx–Niy) nanocatalysts on carbon fibers (Pdx–Niy/NSCNT/CA) have been developed through a facile chemical vapor deposition method. The 3D porous carbon network and the synergistic effect of carbon shell‐confined bimetal nanoparticles of rationally constructed aerogels facilitate enhanced electrocatalytic and antipoisoning activities toward ethylene glycol (EG) oxidation reaction compared to the commercial Pt/C catalyst. With the 3D morphological features and direct growth of Pd–Ni bimetallic nanoparticles encapsulated CNTs on carbon fibers, the Pd52–Ni48/NSCNT/CA delivers a maximum microfluidic direct ethylene glycol fuel cell (µDEGFC) power density and durability of, respectively, 62.8 mW cm?2 and 60 h. The superior performance observed, with Pd52–Ni48/NSCNT/CA amongst the catalysts reported in the literature, opens an exciting research avenue towards powering next‐generation, portable electronics.  相似文献

Finding suitable electrode materials for alkali‐metal‐ion storage is vital to the next‐generation energy‐storage technologies. Polyantimonic acid (PAA, H2Sb2O6 · nH2O), having pentavalent antimony species and an interconnected tunnel‐like pyrochlore crystal framework, is a promising high‐capacity energy‐storage material. Fabricating electrochemically reversible PAA electrode materials for alkali‐metal‐ion storage is a challenge and has never been reported due to the extremely poor intrinsic electronic conductivity of PAA associated with the highest oxidation state Sb(V). Combining nanostructure engineering with a conductive‐network construction strategy, here is reported a facile one‐pot synthesis protocol for crafting uniform internal‐void‐containing PAA nano‐octahedra in a composite with nitrogen‐doped reduced graphene oxide nanosheets (PAA?N‐RGO), and for the first time, realizing the reversible storage of both Li+ and K+ ions in PAA?N‐RGO. Such an architecture, as validated by theoretical calculations and ex/in situ experiments, not only fully takes advantage of the large‐sized tunnel transport pathways (0.37 nm2) of PAA for fast solid‐phase ionic diffusion but also leads to exponentially increased electrical conductivity (3.3 S cm?1 in PAA?N‐RGO vs 4.8 × 10?10 S cm?1 in bare‐PAA) and yields an inside‐out buffer function for accommodating volume expansion. Compared to electrochemically irreversible bare‐PAA, PAA?N‐RGO manifests reversible conversion‐alloying of Sb(V) toward fast and durable Li+‐ and K+‐ion storage.  相似文献

This study proposes a novel strategy of controllable deamination of Co–NH3 complexes in a system containing Ni(OH)2 to synthesize ultrasmall ternary oxide nanoparticles (NPs), NiCo2O4. Through this approach, ultrasmall (5 nm on average) and well‐dispersed NiCo2O4 NPs without exotic ligands are obtained, which enables the formation of uniform and pin‐hole free films. The tightly covered NiCo2O4 films also facilitate the formation of large perovskite grains and thus reduce film defects. The results show that with the NiCo2O4 NPs as the hole transport layer (HTL), the perovskite solar cells reach a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 18.23% and a promising stability (maintained ≈90% PCE after 500 h light soaking). To the best of the author's knowledge, it is the first time that spinel NiCo2O4 NPs have been applied as hole transport layer in perovskite solar cells successfully. This work not only demonstrates the potential applications of ternary oxide NiCo2O4 as HTLs in hybrid perovskite solar cells but also provides an insight into the design and synthesis of ultrasmall and ligand‐free NPs HTLs to enable cost‐effective photovoltaic devices.  相似文献

Erbium‐doped nano‐sized Gd2O3 phosphor was prepared by a solution combustion method in the presence of urea as a fuel. The phosphor was characterized by X‐ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier transform infra‐red spectroscopy, energy dispersive X‐ray analysis (EDX) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results of the XRD shows that the phosphor has a monoclinic phase, which was further confirmed by the TEM results. Particle size was calculated by the Debye–Scherrer formula. The erbium‐doped Gd2O3 nanophosphor was revealed to have good down‐conversion (DC) properties and the intensity of phosphor could be modified by annealing. The effects of annealing at 900°C on the particle size and luminescence properties were studied and compared with freshly prepared Gd2O3:Er3+ nanoparticles. The average particle sizes were calculated as 8 and 20 nm for the freshly prepared samples and samples annealed at 900°C for 1 h, respectively. The results show that both freshly prepared and annealed Gd2O3:Er3+ have monoclinic structure. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

For efficient catalysis and electrocatalysis well‐designed, high‐surface‐area support architectures covered with highly dispersed metal nanoparticles with good catalyst‐support interactions are required. In situ grown Ni nanoparticles on perovskites have been recently reported to enhance catalytic activities in high‐temperature systems such as solid oxide cells (SOCs). However, the micrometer‐scale primary particles prepared by conventional solid‐state reactions have limited surface area and tend to retain much of the active catalytic element within the bulk, limiting efficacy of such exsolution processes in low‐temperature systems. Here, a new, highly efficient, solvothermal route is demonstrated to exsolution from smaller scale primary particles. Furthermore, unlike previous reports of B‐site exsolution, it seems that the metal nanoparticles are exsolved from the A‐site of these perovskites. The catalysts show large active site areas and strong metal‐support interaction (SMSI), leading to ≈26% higher geometric activity (25 times higher mass activity with 1.4 V of Eon‐set) and stability for oxygen‐evolution reaction (OER) with only 0.72 µg base metal contents compared to typical 20 wt% Ni/C and even commercial 20 wt% Ir/C. The findings obtained here demonstrate the potential design and development of heterogeneous catalysts in various low‐temperature electrochemical systems including alkaline fuel cells and metal–air batteries.  相似文献

Despite intense research in past decades, the development of high‐performance bifunctional catalysts for direct ethylene glycol or glycerol oxidation reaction (EGOR or GOR) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) remains a grand challenge in realizing fuel‐cell technologies for portable electronic devices and fuel‐cell vehicle applications. Here, a general method is reported for controllable synthesis of a class of ultrathin multimetallic PtPdM (M = Ni, Fe, Co) nanosheets (NSs) with a thickness of only 1.4 nm by coreduction of metal precursors in the presence of CO and oleylamine. With the optimized composition and components, ultrathin Pt32Pd48Ni20 NSs exhibit the highest electrocatalytic activity for EGOR, GOR, and ORR among all different ultrathin PtPdM NSs, ultrathin PtPd NSs, and the commercial catalysts. The mass activities of ultrathin Pt32Pd48Ni20 NSs for EGOR, GOR, and ORR are 7.7, 5.4, and 7.7 times higher respectively than a commercial catalyst, and they are the most efficient nanocatalysts ever reported for EGOR/GOR. The ultrathin PtPdNi NSs are also very stable for EGOR/GOR/ORR. It is further demonstrated that these ultrathin multimetallic NSs can be readily generalized to other sensor‐related electrocatalysis system such as high‐sensitivity electrochemical detection of H2O2.  相似文献

A low-cost green and reproducible microbe (Lactobacillus sp.)-mediated biosynthesis of Sb2O3 nanoparticles is reported. The synthesis was performed at around room temperature. X-ray and transmission electron microscopy analyses were performed to ascertain the formation of Sb2O3 nanoparticles. X-ray analysis indicated that Sb2O3 nanoparticles had a face-centered cubic unit cell structure. Individual nanoparticles as well as a few aggregates of 3–12 nm were found. A possible mechanism for the synthesis of nano Sb2O3 is proposed.  相似文献

In this work, a hierarchically porous and ultrathick “breathable” wood‐based cathode for high‐performance Li‐O2 batteries is developed. The 3D carbon matrix obtained from the carbonized and activated wood (denoted as CA‐wood) serves as a superconductive current collector and an ideal porous host for accommodating catalysts. The ruthenium (Ru) nanoparticles are uniformly anchored on the porous wall of the aligned microchannels (denoted as CA‐wood/Ru). The aligned open microchannels inside the carbon matrix contribute to unimpeded oxygen gas diffusion. Moreover, the hierarchical pores on the microchannel walls can be facilely impregnated by electrolyte, forming a continuous supply of electrolyte. As a result, numerous ideal triphase active sites are formed where electrolyte, oxygen, and catalyst accumulate on the porous walls of microchannels. Benefiting from the numerous well‐balanced triple‐phase active sites, the assembled Li‐O2 battery with the CA‐wood/Ru cathode (thickness: ≈700 µm) shows a high specific area capacity of 8.58 mA h cm?2 at 0.1 mA cm?2. Moreover, the areal capacity can be further increased to 56.0 mA h cm?2 by using an ultrathick CA‐wood/Ru cathode with a thickness of ≈3.4 mm. The facile ultrathick wood‐based cathodes can be applied to other cathodes to achieve a super high areal capacity without sacrificing the electrochemical performance.  相似文献

Pre‐exposure to mild heat stress enhances the thermotolerance of insects. Stress hardening is a beneficial physiological plasticity, but the mechanism underlying it remains elusive. Here we report that reactive oxygen species (ROS) concentrations were quickly and transiently elevated in the armyworms, Mythimna separata, by exposing them to 40°C, but not other tested temperatures. Larvae exposed to 40°C had subsequently elevated antioxidant activity and the highest survival of all tested heating conditions. The elevation of ROS after lethal heating at 44°C for 1 h was approximately twofold compared to heating at 40°C. Injection of an optimal amount of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) similarly caused sequential elevation of ROS and antioxidant activity in the test larval hemolymph, which led to significantly enhanced survival after lethal heat stress. The H2O2‐induced thermotolerance was abolished by coinjection of potent antioxidants such as ascorbic acid or N‐acetylcysteine. Both preheating at 40°C and H2O2 injection enhanced expression of genes encoding superoxide dismutase 1, catalase, and heat shock protein 70 in the fat body of test larvae, indicating the adequate heat stress induced a transient elevation of ROS, followed by upregulation of antioxidant activity. We infer that thermal stress hardening is induced by a small timely ROS elevation that triggers a reduction–oxidation signaling mechanism.  相似文献

Shear bond strength between different materials bonded with two resin cements Background: The aim of this study was to compare the shear bond strength between Ni–Cr alloy specimens bonded to air‐abraded Ni–Cr, bur‐abraded Ni–Cr, etched ceramic and etched enamel substrates using the resin cements RelyX ARC or Enforce. Materials and methods: Ni–Cr specimens were made and sandblasted with Al2O3 airborne‐particles. Disc‐shaped patterns were made for each of the four experimental substrates: Ni–Cr treated with Al2O3 airborne‐particles, Ni–Cr treated with diamond bur abrasion, etched enamel and etched ceramic. Results: Significant differences in shear bond strength were found between the different materials and luting agents evaluated. The Ni–Cr alloy cylinders bonded to Ni–Cr surfaces sandblasted with 50 μm Al2O3 particles and bonded with Enforce achieved the highest bond strength when compared with other substrates (28.9 MPa, p < 0.05). Bur‐abraded metal discs had lowest values, regardless the cement used (2.9 and 6.9 MPa for RelyX and Enforce, respectively). Etched enamel and etched ceramic had similar shear bond strengths within cement groups and performed better when RelyX was used. Conclusions: Bonding Ni–Cr to Ni–Cr and ceramic may result in similar and higher bond strength when compared to Ni–Cr/enamel bonding. For metal/metal bonding, higher shear bond strength was achieved with resin cement Enforce, and for metal/ceramic and metal/enamel bonding, RelyX had higher results.  相似文献

The capping of electron relay units in mesoporous carbon nanoparticles (MPC NPs) by crosslinking of different enzymes on MPC NPs matrices leads to integrated electrically contacted bienzyme electrodes acting as dual biosensors or as functional bienzyme anodes and cathodes for biofuel cells. The capping of ferrocene methanol and methylene blue in MPC NPs by the crosslinking of glucose oxidase (GOx) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) yields a functional sensing electrode for both glucose and H2O2, which also acts as a bienzyme cascaded system for the indirect detection of glucose. A MPC NP matrix, loaded with ferrocene methanol and capped by GOx/lactate oxidase (LOx), is implemented for the oxidation and detection of both glucose and lactate. Similarly, MPC NPs, loaded with 2,2′‐azino‐bis(3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulphonic acid), are capped with bilirubin oxidase (BOD) and catalase (Cat), to yield a bienzyme O2 reduction cathode. A biofuel cell that uses the bienzyme GOx/LOx anode and the BOD/Cat cathode, glucose and/or lactate as fuels, and O2 and/or H2O2 as oxidizers is assembled, revealing a power efficiency of ≈90 μW cm?2 in the presence of the two fuels. The study demonstrates that multienzyme MPC NP electrodes may improve the performance of biofuel cells by oxidizing mixtures of fuels in biomass.  相似文献

A facile two‐step strategy is developed to design the large‐scale synthesis of hierarchical, unique porous architecture of ternary metal hydroxide nanowires grown on porous 3D Ni foam and subsequent effective sulfurization. The hierarchical Zn–Co–S nanowires (NWs) arrays are directly employed as an electrode for supercapacitors application. The as‐synthesized Zn–Co–S NWs deliver an ultrahigh areal capacity of 0.9 mA h cm?2 (specific capacity of 366.7 mA h g?1) at a current density of 3 mA cm?2, with an exceptional rate capability (≈227.6 mA h g?1 at a very high current density of 40 mA cm?2) and outstanding cycling stability (≈93.2% of capacity retention after 10 000 cycles). Most significantly, the assembled Zn–Co–S NWs//Fe2O3@reduced graphene oxide asymmetric supercapacitors with a wide operating potential window of ≈1.6 V yield an ultrahigh volumetric capacity of ≈1.98 mA h cm?3 at a current density of 3 mA cm?2, excellent energy density of ≈81.6 W h kg?1 at a power density of ≈559.2 W kg?1, and exceptional cycling performance (≈92.1% of capacity retention after 10 000 cycles). This general strategy provides an alternative to design the other ternary metal sulfides, making it facile, free‐standing, binder‐free, and cost‐effective ternary metal sulfide‐based electrodes for large‐scale applications in modern electronics.  相似文献

The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is one of the most important reactions in renewable energy conversion and storage devices. The full deployment of these devices depends on the development of highly active, stable, and low‐cost catalysts. Herein, a new hybrid material consisting of Na2Ta8O21?x/Ta2O5/Ta3N5 nanocrystals grown on N‐doped reduced graphene oxide is reported. This catalyst shows a significantly enhanced ORR activity by ≈4 orders of magnitude in acidic media and by ≈2 orders of magnitude in alkaline media compared to individual Na2Ta8O21?x on graphene. Moreover, it has excellent stability in both acid and alkaline media. It also has much better methanol tolerance than the commercial Pt/C, which is relevant to methanol fuel cells. The high ORR activity arises not only from the synergistic effect among the three Ta phases, but also from the concomitant nitrogen doping of the reduced graphene oxide nanosheets. A correlation between ORR activity and nitrogen content is demonstrated. Deep insights into the mechanism of the synergistic effect among these three Ta‐based phases, which boosts the ORR's kinetics, are acquired by combining specific experiments and density functional theory calculations.  相似文献

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are crystalline organic polymers with tunable structures. Here, a COF is prepared using building units with highly flexible tetrahedral sp3 nitrogens. This flexibility gives rise to structural changes which generate mesopores capable of confining very small (<2 nm sized) non‐noble‐metal‐based nanoparticles (NPs). This nanocomposite shows exceptional activity toward the oxygen‐evolution reaction from alkaline water with an overpotential of 258 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm?2. The overpotential observed in the COF‐nanoparticle system is the best in class, and is close to the current record of ≈200 mV for any noble‐metal‐free electrocatalytic water splitting system—the Fe–Co–Ni metal‐oxide‐film system. Also, it possesses outstanding kinetics (Tafel slope of 38.9 mV dec?1) for the reaction. The COF is able to stabilize such small‐sized NP in the absence of any capping agent because of the COF–Ni(OH)2 interactions arising from the N‐rich backbone of the COF. Density‐functional‐theory modeling of the interaction between the hexagonal Ni(OH)2 nanosheets and the COF shows that in the most favorable configuration the Ni(OH)2 nanosheets are sandwiched between the sp3 nitrogens of the adjacent COF layers and this can be crucial to maximizing their synergistic interactions.  相似文献

Herein, P′2‐type Na0.67[Ni0.1Fe0.1Mn0.8]O2 is introduced as a promising new cathode material for sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) that exhibits remarkable structural stability during repetitive Na+ de/intercalation. The O? Ni? O? Mn? O? Fe? O bond in the octahedra of transition‐metal layers is used to suppress the elongation of the Mn? O bond and to improve the electrochemical activity, leading to the highly reversible Na storage mechanism. A high discharge capacity of ≈220 mAh g?1 (≈605 Wh kg?1) is delivered at 0.05 C (13 mAg?1) with a high reversible capacity of ≈140 mAh g?1 at 3 C and excellent capacity retention of 80% over 200 cycles. This performance is associated with the reversible P′2–OP4 phase transition and small volume change upon charge and discharge (≈3%). The nature of the sodium storage mechanism in a full cell paired with a hard carbon anode reveals an unexpectedly high energy density of ≈542 Wh kg?1 at 0.2 C and good capacity retention of ≈81% for 500 cycles at 1 C (260 mAg?1).  相似文献
