The origin, distribution and structure of the blood vessels of the female reproductive tract and the testis of the brush possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) were studied using latex and silicone rubber casting and histological techniques. Latex casts of the vessels of the female tract were also studied in five macropod species – Macropus giganteus, M. eugenii, M. agilis, Megaleia rufa and Thylogale billardierii, and in the common wombat (Vombatus ursinus). The female reproductive tract in the brush possum was supplied and drained by four major sets of paired vessels – ovarian, cranial urogenital, caudal urogenital, and internal pudendal arteries and veins. These vessels formed substantial anastomoses with one another on each side of the midline, and also across-the-midline anastomoses. The proximal part of the ovarian artery ran in close apposition to the ovarian vein, which received one or more large uterine branches. In its distal protion the ovarian artery gave rise to a leash of small, tortuous ovarian branches, which wound around and between the plexiform ovarian veins. The testicular arteries and veins in this species also ran in close apposition to one another. Both arteries and veins branched into many smaller, mildly tortuous, parallel vessels in the spermatic cord, which reunited before entering the testis. The blood vessels of the reproductive tract in all of the macropod species studied, and in the common wombat, were basically similar to those of the brush possum. The intimate structural relationships between ovarian arteries and veins, and their ovarian branches, in these marsupials are suggestive of specializations for counter-current exchange between venous and arterial blood. However, in contrast to those of the testicular vessels where heat exchange is a demonstrated function, their physiological significance remains unknown.  相似文献

The extrinsic ovarian blood vessels were studied in 134 ewes. In view of recent evidence that uterine luteolysis may involve venoarterial transfer of prostaglandin F2alpha in the ovarian pedicle, particular attention was paid to the interrelationships between veins and arteries. The ovarian artery and utero-ovarian vein are large vessels of conventional structure and lie in close apposition. Their walls are slightly thinner on their apposing sides. The ovarian branches of the ovarian artery are very tortuous, and closely intertwined with the plexiform ovarian branches of the utero-ovarian vein. An extensive plexus of small veins surrounds the ovarian artery and its ovarian branches. Within this plexus are many thin-walled, dilated regions, interspersed with narrow, thick-walled segments. Valves are inconstantly present at sites of entry of branches of the plexus into the major veins. Small numbers of arterio-venous anastomoses are present in the distal part of the ovarian pedicle. Unless blood can flow in a veno-arterial direction through arterio-venous anastomoses or capillary beds, the structural barrier between uterine venous and ovarian arterial blood is substantial.  相似文献

To demonstrate the 3D microvascular anatomy of the brain of the model organism Xenopus laevis Daudin scanning electron microscopy of vascular corrosion casts was correlated with light microscopy of stained 7 µm thick serial tissues sections. Results showed that supplying arteries descended from the leptomeningeal surface without remarkable branchings straight to the subventricular zone where they branched and capillarized. Capillaries showed few H‐ and/or Y‐shaped anastomoses during their centrifugal course toward the leptomeningeal surface where they drained into cerebral venules and veins. Apart from the accessory olfactory bulb and the vestibule‐cochlear nucleus where capillaries were densely packed, capillaries formed a wide‐meshed 3D network throughout the brain parenchyma and thus contrasted to urodelian brains where hairpin‐shaped capillaries descend from the leptomeningeal vessels into varying depths of the brain parenchyma. In about two‐third of specimens, a closed arterial circle of Willis was found at the base of the brain. If this circle in Xenopus might serve the same two functions as in men is briefly discussed. Choroid plexuses of third and fourth ventricle were found to have a high venous, but a low arterial inflow via one small choroidal artery only. Findings are compared with previous studies on the vascularization of the anuran brain and discrepancies in respect to presence or absence of particular arteries and/or veins in Ranids, Bufonids, and Pipids studied so far are discussed with particular emphasis on the techniques used in the various studies published so far.  相似文献

Fluorescence histochemistry was used to study the adrenergic innervation of the large arteries and veins at six points along the body of the semiarboreal rat snake Elaphe obsoleta. Apart from the vessels adjacent to the heart, there was a marked contrast in the density of adrenergic innervation of anterior and posterior systemic arteries and veins. The anterior arteries and veins have little adrenergic innervation in contrast to the extremely dense innervation of the arteries and veins posterior to the heart. The innervation pattern is consistent with known physiological adjustments to gravity and suggests a mechanism for regulating dependent blood flow via sympathetic nerves. In comparison to the posterior systemic arteries, parallel segments of pulmonary artery taken from the same body position of Elaphe contained a much sparser innervation by adrenergic nerves. The sparser innervation can be correlated with less gravitational disturbance in the pulmonary artery, which is relatively short in this and in other arboreal snakes.  相似文献

The rat tail vascularization is histologically re-examined especially with respect to blood sampling and vascular-injection methods. The terminal third of the tail is recommended for blood vessel puncturing. In this segment, the arteries and veins are most prominent, since the structures of the musculo-skeletal system diminish towards the tip of the tail. In addition to the commonly-known blood vessels (one ventral artery, two lateral veins), there is a dorsal vein in the rat tail that is well suited for puncture and cannulation.  相似文献

目的:探究CT诊断对于胰腺癌侵犯胰周动静脉的临床价值。方法:随机选取在我院就诊的64例胰腺癌患者,在他们进行手术前全在距离肿瘤边缘1cm内的血管进行分期和诊断进而进行螺旋CT检查。结果:经组织学术后病理切片染色发现胰周动脉29条,静脉48条。运用外科手术探查方法发现86条胰周动脉,89条胰周静脉。在这些血管中,有23条动脉、47条静脉经外科手术证实的确是肿瘤侵犯,并且经过CT诊断,我们最终断定为有25条动脉、46条静脉处于1~4级。结论:胰周动、静脉受到侵犯时,具有不同的CT表现特征,因此在利用CT方法判断胰周动、静脉遭受侵犯时应当根据不同情况不同对待。  相似文献

The pressure-diameter relation (PDR) and the wall strain of coronary blood vessels have important implications for coronary blood flow and arthrosclerosis, respectively. Previous studies have shown that these mechanical quantities are significantly affected by the axial stretch of the vessels. The objective of this study was to measure the physiological axial stretch in the coronary vasculature; i.e., from left anterior descending (LAD) artery tree to coronary sinus vein and to determine its effect on the PDR and hence wall stiffness. Silicone elastomer was perfused through the LAD artery and coronary sinus trees to cast the vessels at the physiologic pressure. The results show that the physiological axial stretch exists for orders 4 to 11 (> 24 μm in diameter) arteries and orders -4 to -12 (>38 μm in diameter) veins but vanishes for the smaller vessels. Statistically, the axial stretch is higher for larger vessels and is higher for arteries than veins. The axial stretch λ(z) shows a linear variation with the order number (n) as: λ(z) = 0.062n + 0.75 (R(2) = 0.99) for artery and λ(z) = -0.029n + 0.89 (R(2) = 0.99) for vein. The mechanical analysis shows that the axial stretch significantly affects the PDR of the larger vessels. The circumferential stretch/strain was found to be significantly higher for the epicardial arteries (orders 9-11), which are free of myocardium constraint, than the intramyocardial arteries (orders 4-8). These findings have fundamental implications for coronary blood vessel mechanics.  相似文献

Coronary arteries bring blood flow to the heart muscle. Understanding the developmental program of the coronary arteries provides insights into the treatment of coronary artery diseases. Multiple sources have been described as contributing to coronary arteries including the proepicardium, sinus venosus (SV), and endocardium. However, the developmental origins of coronary vessels are still under intense study. We have produced a new genetic tool for studying coronary development, an AplnCreER mouse line, which expresses an inducible Cre recombinase specifically in developing coronary vessels. Quantitative analysis of coronary development and timed induction of AplnCreER fate tracing showed that the progenies of subepicardial endothelial cells (ECs) both invade the compact myocardium to form coronary arteries and remain on the surface to produce veins. We found that these subepicardial ECs are the major sources of intramyocardial coronary vessels in the developing heart. In vitro explant assays indicate that the majority of these subepicardial ECs arise from endocardium of the SV and atrium, but not from ventricular endocardium. Clonal analysis of Apln-positive cells indicates that a single subepicardial EC contributes equally to both coronary arteries and veins. Collectively, these data suggested that subepicardial ECs are the major source of intramyocardial coronary arteries in the ventricle wall, and that coronary arteries and veins have a common origin in the developing heart.  相似文献

Substance P-immunoreactive nerve fibres were localized by the indirect immunohistochemical method in the adventitia and the adventitial-medial border of large peripheral arteries and veins of the rat. Arteries showed a richer substance P-containing innervation than veins. The superior mesenteric artery was densely innervated, whereas no substance P-containing fibres were found around the carotid artery. Substance P produced a vasoconstriction of the veins, but was basically without effect on arteries, although with the carotid artery a dose-dependent relaxation was observed. The absence of a correlation between the degree of innervation of the blood vessels and their responsiveness to exogenous substance P suggests that there nerves do not subserve a vasomotor function. The depletion of substance P immunoreactivity from nerves in arteries and veins by capsaicin suggest that substance P-containing vascular nerves are primarily sensory in nature.  相似文献

The branching pattern of the coronary arteries and veins is asymmetric, i.e., many small vessels branch off of a large trunk such that the two daughter vessels at a bifurcation are of unequal diameters and lengths. One important implication of the geometric vascular asymmetry is the dispersion of blood flow at a bifurcation, which leads to large spatial heterogeneity of myocardial blood flow. To document the asymmetric branching pattern of the coronary vessels, we computed an asymmetry ratio for the diameters and lengths of all vessels, defined as the ratio of the daughter diameters and lengths, respectively. Previous data from silicone elastomer cast of the entire coronary vasculature including arteries, arterioles, venules, and veins were analyzed. Data on smaller vessels were obtained from histological specimens by optical sectioning, whereas data on larger vessels were obtained from vascular casts. Asymmetry ratios for vascular areas, volumes, resistances, and flows of the various daughter vessels were computed from the asymmetry ratios of diameters and lengths for every order of mother vessel. The results show that the largest orders of arterial and venous vessels are most asymmetric and the degree of asymmetry decreases toward the smaller vessels. Furthermore, the diameter asymmetry at a bifurcation is significantly larger for the coronary veins (1.7-6.8 for sinus veins) than the corresponding arteries (1.5-5.8 for left anterior descending coronary artery) for orders 2-10, respectively. The reported diameter asymmetry at a bifurcation leads to significant heterogeneity of blood flow at a bifurcation. Hence, the present data quantify the dispersion of blood flow at a bifurcation and are essential for understanding flow heterogeneity in the coronary circulation.  相似文献

The longitudinal veins of the trunk of the Port Jackson shark exhibit low venous pressures and blood flow is facilitated by four subsidiary mechanisms. The sucking action of the heart is augmented by the presence of single flap valves at the central ends of certain longitudinal veins. The flexion of the trunk in swimming transfers blood from the dorsal aorta to the caudal vein; both the segmental arteries and the segmental veins are valved at their origins from the main vessels. Movement of the median dorsal fins and of the tail pumps blood from cutaneous veins to the caudal vein by the compression and dilation of valved venous reservoirs located close to radial muscles. Movement of the rectum generates negative pressures in certain cutaneous veins. A division of the trunk venous system, into abdominal and postpelvic regions is suggested on functional and anatomical grounds.  相似文献

The effects of PGA1 and PGA2 were studied in the canine pulmonary vascular bed. Infusion of PGA1 into the lobar artery decreased lobar arterial and venous pressure but did not change left atrial pressure. In contrast, PGA2 infusion increased lobar arterial and venous pressure and the effects of this substance were similar in experiments in which the lung was perfused with dextran or with blood. These data indicate that under conditions of controlled blood flow PGA1 decreases pulmonary vascular resistance by dilating intrapulmonary veins and to a lesser extent vessels upstream to the small veins, presumably small arteries. The present data show that PGA2 increases pulmonary vascular resistance by constricting intrapulmonary veins and upstream vessels. The predominant effect of PGA2 was on upstream vessels and the pressor effect was not due to interaction with formed elements in the blood or platelet aggregation.  相似文献

Diese Hirnhautkörperchen enthalten eine zentrale Gefäßzone, die von zwei Zellmänteln umgeben wird. In der Gefäßzone treten markscheidenfreie präsynaptische Nervenfasern unmittelbar an die Arterie und die Kapillaren heran. Die hellen Zellen des inneren Mantels sind durch hohen Glykogengehalt und durch zahlreiche Vakuolen charakterisiert. Die Interzellularspalten sind stellenweise verbreitert und angefüllt mit sauren Mukopolysacchariden. Der äußere Mantel, der unmittelbar das Hirnhautkörperchen umgibt, besteht aus dicht gepackten dunklen Zellen. Diese enthalten zahlreiche Mitochondrien und Filamente, die in eine dichte amorphe Matrix eingebettet sind und für kontraktil gehalten werden. Beide, der innere und der äußere Mantel, werden von Bündelchen kollagener Fasern durchzogen. Die enge Nachbarschaft zu Blutgefäßen und Plexus chorioideus läßt vermuten, daß die Hirnhautkörperchen mit der Kontrolle der Blutströmung zu tun haben.
On leptomeningeal bodies in the rabbit
Summary On the roof of the 3rd ventricle of brain near the splenium corporis callosi circumscribed round bodies occur. These leptomeningeal bodies contain a central vascular zone enveloped by two sheaths of cells. In the vascular zone, some unmyelinated presynaptic nerve fibers can be seen very close to the artery and to the capillaries. The clear cells of the internal sheath are characterized by a high content of glycogen and by numerous vacuoles. The intercellular spaces are sporadically enlarged and filled with acidic nucopolysaccharides. The external sheath immediately surrounding the leptomeningeal body consists of densely packed dark cells. These cells contain numerous mitochondria and filaments embedded in a dense amorphous matrix. The filaments are interpreted as a contractile material. Both, the internal and external sheath, are trasversed by bundles of collagenous fibers. The close association with blood vessels and choroid plexus suggests that the leptomeningeal bodies are involved in blood flow control.

A thyroid vascular cast of the common tree shrew (Tupaia glis) was obtained by injection of Batson's No. 17 plastic mixture into the ascending aorta. The cast was studied under the scanning electron microscope. It was found that each half of the gland is supplied by a large superior and a rather small inferior thyroid artery. After plunging into the gland, the arteries divide into smaller branches that are the interlobular, intralobular and follicular arteries (afferent vessels). The basket-like capillaries arising from the follicular arteries and encapsulating thyroid follicles are of large diameter and are arranged in a single layer. The follicular side of the capillary casts was observed to contain numerous small and some large projecting knobs compatible with the presence of fenestrations in the endothelial cells. On the other hand, endothelial nuclear imprints were found mainly on the stromal surface of the follicular capillary casts. Transfollicular capillaries connecting the adjacent follicular capillary networks were also observed. Blood from the follicular capillaries either drains into the follicular veins (efferent vessels) or abruptly drains into the intralobular veins before proceeding to intralobular and interlobular veins, respectively. The interlobular veins are collected into a few small superior, a few larger middle and a few even larger inferior thyroid veins. These veins drain directly into the laryngeal vein lying adjacent to the deep surface of the thyroid gland before joining the jugular vein. Venous valves were identified outside the thyroid gland. In addition, the glomerular capillary island of the parathyroid gland was often seen at the cranioanterolateral and sometimes at the cranioposterolateral aspect of the thyroid gland.  相似文献

Meticulous anatomic dissection of the vasculature of the superficial anterolateral neck indicates that the platysma and overlying skin are supplied by direct cutaneous arteries measuring 0.5 mm in diameter. The small arteries are branches of the postauricular and occipital arteries in the upper lateral neck, the facial and submental arteries in the upper medial neck, the superior thyroid artery in the middle of the neck, the subclavian artery in the lower medial neck, and the transverse or superficial cervical arteries in the lateral aspect of the neck. These vessels traverse the undersurface of the platysma muscle to provide blood flow to the overlying skin. As opposed to this direct cutaneous system, the myocutaneous blood supply perforating through the sternocleidomastoid is scant. The platysma skin flap will survive if the blood supply from at least one region is preserved. In addition, it may be beneficial to include the external jugular and/or the communicating veins in the flap. By following these guidelines, the platysma flap has been successfully used for facial reconstruction in 7 of 8 consecutive patients.  相似文献

The innervation of the dorsal aorta and renal vasculature in the toad (Bufo marinus) has been studied with both fluorescence and ultrastructural histochemistry. The innervation consists primarily of a dense plexus of adrenergic nerves associated with all levels of the preglomerular vasculature. Non-adrenergic nerves are occasionally found in the renal artery, and even more rarely near the afferent arterioles. Many of the adrenergic nerve profiles in the dorsal aorta and renal vasculature are distinguished by high proportions of chromaffin-negative, large, filled vesicles. Close neuromuscular contacts are common in both the renal arteries and afferent arterioles. Possibly every smooth muscle cell in the afferent arterioles is multiply innervated. The glomerular capillaries and peritubular vessels are not innervated, and only 3-5% of efferent arterioles are accompanied by single adrenergic nerve fibres. Thus, nervous control of glomerular blood flow must be exerted primarily by adrenergic nerves acting on the preglomerular vasculature. The adrenergic innervation of the renal portal veins and efferent renal veins may play a role in regulating peritubular blood flow. In addition, glomerular and postglomerular control of renal blood flow could be achieved by circulating agents acting via contractile elements in the glomerular mesangial cells, and in the endothelial cells and pericytes of the efferent arterioles. Some adrenergic nerve profiles near afferent arterioles are as close as 70 nm to distal tubule cells, indicating that tubular function may be directly controlled by adrenergic nerves.  相似文献

It has been assumed for a long time that except for limited areas close to respiratory bronchioles or their satellite arteries, there is no evidence of lymphatic vessels deep in the pulmonary lobule. An immunohistochemical study using the D2-40 monoclonal antibody was performed on normal pulmonary samples obtained from surgical specimens, with particular attention to the intralobular distribution of lymphatic vessels. This study demonstrated the presence of lymphatics not only in the connective tissue surrounding the respiratory bronchioles but also associated with intralobular arterioles and/or small veins even less than 50 μm in diameter. A few interlobular lymphatic vessels with a diameter ranging from 10 μm to 20 μm were also observed further away, in interalveolar walls. In conclusion, this study, using the D2-40 monoclonal antibody, demonstrated the presence of small lymphatic channels within the normal human pulmonary lobules, emerging from interalveolar interstitium, and around small blood vessels constituting the paraalveolar lymphatics. This thin intralobular lymphatic network may play a key pathophysiological role in a wide variety of alveolar and interstitial lung diseases and requires further investigation. The stability of blood vessel under lumen pressure load is essential to the maintenance of normal arterial function. Previous mechanical models showed that blood vessels may buckle into a half sine wave but arteries and veins in vivo often demonstrate tortuous paths with multiple waves. The objective of this study was to analyze the buckling of blood vessels under lumen pressure with surrounding tissue support. Blood vessels were modeled as elastic cylindrical vessels within an elastic substrate. Buckling equations were established to determine the critical pressure and the wavelength. These equations and simulation results demonstrated that blood vessels do take higher order mode shapes when buckling inside an elastic substrate while they take the basal mode shape without the substrate. The wave number increases i.e. blood vessels take a higher mode shape, as the stiffness of the substrate increases. These results suggest that mechanical buckling is a possible mechanism for the development of tortuous blood vessels. The current model provides a powerful tool for further studying the tortuosity of arteries and veins.  相似文献

The present study intended to describe in detail the several blood vessels harboring special regulatory devices in rabbit’s pulmonary tissue using light and electron microscopy and immuno-histochemistry. Numerous throttle arteries were recorded within the adventitia of the segmental and sub-segmental bronchi and within pulmonary pleura. These arteries showed characteristic narrow or obliterated lumens and some of them bear longitudinal muscular intimal bolsters. For the first time, TEM revealed some structural modifications of the vascular endothelial cells of these arteries indicating that they become more activated to perform some additional functions. Arteriovenous anastomoses (AVAs) including direct shunt vessels and glomus organs were also recognized. Direct arteriovenous shunts appeared as small connecting devices communicating between small arteries and small veins while glomus organs consisted of the tortuous glomus vessels and the related afferent and efferent vessels. Several arteries and veins showing unique unusual structural characteristics were also described. For the first time, serotonin (5-HT) was strongly expressed in the vascular endothelium and muscle fibers of throttle arteries, in glomus cells of the glomus vessels, and in vascular endothelium of some veins and venules of special structure. The exact role of 5-HT is still unknown and further investigations are required to determine the types and distribution of 5-HT receptors present in these vascular devices. We concluded that these special vascular devices can play a critical role in controlling blood flow and pressure in the peripheral pulmonary circulation; however, the exact physiological mechanisms by which they work or are controlled remain unknown providing a ripe area for further investigation.  相似文献

Summary The topographical distribution of the blood vessels in the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (NIST) has been mapped in rats. Arteries and veins were visualized in red and blue by using a double-ink perfusion technique. Arteries supplying the NIST arise from the anterior cerebral artery directly or through the anterior communicating and interhemispheric arteries. Only a few, dorsal branches derive from the medial cerebral artery through thalamostriatal arteries. According to their terminal branches, NIST arteries can be divided into five groups: medial, ventral, lateral, septal and dorsal, which have only a relatively small overlap in their territories. About 90% of veins from the NIST drain into the major basal veins. Medial branches run into the perioptic and interhemispheric veins, while the ventral branches and the large lateral vein drain directly into the anterior cerebral vein. A small proportion of NIST veins run dorsalward into the vena cerebri magna via thalamostriatal veins.  相似文献
