Seven seaweeds were collected from the intertidal zone at Rocky Bay on the east coast of South Africa. The species were Caulerpa racemosa var. laetevirens, Codium capitatum, Halimeda cuneata, Ulva fasciata, Amphiroa bowerbankii, Amphiroa ephedraea and Dictyota humifusa. Six bimonthly collections were made within a few days of the new moon to correspond with spring tide. Methanol extracts were tested for antifungal, antibacterial and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity. No seasonal variation was observed in antifungal activity, with D. humifusa extracts being the most active. The seaweed extracts inhibited the growth of the Gram-positive bacteria, with Bacillus subtilis being more susceptible than Staphylococcus aureus. Dictyota humifusa was the only seaweed able to inhibit the Gram-negative Escherichia coli. Seasonal variation in antibacterial activity was observed, with the extracts generally having no activity in summer and having antibacterial activity in late winter (July collection) and early spring (September and November collections). Dictyota humifusa was the most effective seaweed species, having antibacterial activity throughout the year. All the extracts tested had AChE inhibitory activity, with no seasonal variation in the levels of activity. Dictyota humifusa extracts were the most effective at inhibiting AChE activity.  相似文献

Two bioassays (fish mortality and fish erythrocyte hemolysis) were used to survey for the presence of toxic principles in aqueous extracts of 19 species of marine macro-algae found in south Florida coastal waters. Extracts from six species (Chlorophyta—Anadyomene stellata (Wulfen) C. Ag., Caulerpa prolifera (Forsskål) Lamour., Penicillus capitatus Lamarck: Rhodophyta—Centroceras clavulatum (C. Ag.) Montague, Laurencia papillosa (Forsskål) Grev., L. poitel (Lamour.) Howe) showed lethal toxicity to the spotfin mojarra, Euconistomus argenteus Baird & Girard. Extracts from three species (Chlorophyta—A. stellata: Phaeophyta—Dictyota dichotoma (Hudson) Lamour.: Rhodophyta—Wrangelia penicillata C. The tilapia Oreochromis niloticus and the silver carp Hypophthalmichthys molitrix were exposed to toxic and non-toxic strains of the cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa in order to determine if cells of the toxic strain were ingested and, if not, by what mechanism they were excluded. Enumeration of cyanobacterial particles before and after exposure to fish showed that there were no significant differences (P<0.05) at the end of the trial between the toxic treatment and the control consisting of toxic M. aeruginosa with no fish. Fish exposed to the non-toxic strain increased opercular beat rate, elevating the volumes of water and food material passed over the gills whereas those that were held in the toxic strain did not. Of the cyanobacterial toxins (microcystins) presented to the fish, most were in the cyanobacterial cells, toxin levels in the water being below the level of detectability (<250 ng l−1), The ability of the fish to differentiate between toxic and non-toxic cyanobacterial strains may thus be determined by very low levels of extracellular microcystins or/and other features which distinguish toxic from non-toxic M. aeruginosa strains, such as cell surface components.  相似文献

Protein extracts from 22 species of marine macroalgae from Florida and North Carolina were compared for their abilities to agglutinate sheep and rabbit erythrocytes. Protein extracts from 21 algal species agglutinated rabbit erythrocytes compared to 19 for sheep erythrocytes. However, agglutination by brown algal extracts was variable. The agglutination produced by protein extracts from Dictyota dichotoma could be blocked by addition of polyvinylpyrrolidone. Protein extracts from North Carolina macroalgae were also tested against five bacterial species. Three of these agglutinated bacterial cells. Ulva curvata and Bryopsis plumosa agglutinated all five species. Protein extracts from five species of Florida algae were tested for their effects on mitogenesis in mouse splenocytes and human lymphocytes. Gracilaria tikvahiae HBOI Strain G-5, Ulva rigida and Gracilaria verrucosa HBOI Strain G-16S stimulated mitogenesis in mouse splenocytes, while Gracilaria tikvahiae HBOI Strain G-16stimulated mitogenesis in human lymphocytes.  相似文献

One hundred three Basidiomycota fungi representing 84 species and 17 families were collected from different Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil. Their basidiomes and fermentation broth extracts were screened in a bioassay panel that included three human cancer cells lines, human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), the enzyme trypanothione reductase (TryR) from Trypanosoma cruzi, and amastigote forms of Leishmania amazonensis. Forty-two extracts representing 21 genera and 35 species presented activities higher than 60% in one or more assays employed in this study. Eighteen extracts were toxic to one or more human cancer cell lines. Extracts from Lentinus strigosus CCB 178 and Lentinus sp. UFMGCB 38 showed selectivity towards cancer cells as they showed only a minor impact on PBMCs. Six extracts suppressed PBMCs proliferation and showed low toxic effect to cancer cells. Thirty-four extracts inhibited the activity of the TryR. Of these, five showed low toxicity towards PBMCs. Extracts from Gymnopilus areolatus, Irpex lacteus, L. strigosus, Nothopanus hygrophanus, Pleurotus flabellatus, and unidentified Basidiomycetes were toxic to L. amazonensis. The results of this screening reinforce the potential of Basidiomycota fungi as sources of bioactive natural products that may be developed into new therapeutic agents for cancer and neglected diseases such as trypanosomiasis and leishmaniasis.  相似文献

In 1987, there was an episode of shellfish poisoning in Canada with human fatalities caused by the diatom Pseudo-nitzschia multiseries, which produced the toxin domoic acid. In order to examine whether domoic acid in this diatom serves as a grazing deterrent for copepods, we compared feeding rates, egg production rates, egg hatching success and mortality of the calanoid copepods Acartia tonsa and Temora longicornis feeding on unialgal diets of the toxic diatom P. multiseries and the similarly-sized non-toxic diatom Pseudo-nitzschia pungens. Copepods were collected in summers of 1994, 1995 and 1996 from Shediac Bay, New Brunswick, Canada, near Prince Edward Island, the site of the 1987 episode of domoic acid shellfish poisoning. Rates of ingestion of the toxic versus the non-toxic diatom by A. tonsa and T. longicornis were similar, with only one significantly different pair of values obtained in 1994, for which A. tonsa had a higher mean rate of ingestion of the toxic than the non-toxic diatom. Thus, domoic acid did not appear to retard grazing. Analyses of copepods with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) revealed that copepods accumulated domoic acid when feeding on P. multiseries. Egg production rates of copepods when feeding on P. multiseries and P. pungens were very low, ranging from 0 to 2.79 eggs female–1 d–1. There did not appear to be differential egg production or egg hatching success on diets of the toxic and non-toxic diatoms. Mortality of females on the toxic diet was low, ranging from 0 to 20%, with a mean of 13%, and there was no apparent difference between mortality of copepods feeding on toxic versus non-toxic diatoms. Egg hatching success on both diets, although based on few eggs, ranged between 22% and 76%, with a mean percentage hatching of 45%. Diets of the non-toxic diatom plus natural seawater assemblages supplemented with dissolved domoic acid, revealed similar rates and percentages when compared to previous experiments. In summary, none of the variables measured indicated adverse effects on copepods feeding on the toxic compared to the non-toxic diatom.  相似文献

The diversity of Alexandrium spp. in Irish coastal waters was investigated through the morphological examination of resting cysts and vegetative cells, the determination of PSP toxin and spirolide profiles and the sequence analysis of rDNA genes. Six morphospecies were characterised: A. tamarense, A. minutum, A. ostenfeldii, A. peruvianum, A. tamutum and A. andersoni. Both PSP toxin producing and non-toxic strains of A. tamarense and A. minutum were observed. The average toxicities of toxic strains for both cultured species were respectively 11.3 (8.6 S.D.) and 2.3 (0.5 S.D.) pg STX equiv. cell−1. Alexandrium ostenfeldii and A. peruvianum did not synthesise PSP toxins but HPLC–MS analysis of two strains showed distinct spirolide profiles. A cyst-derived culture of A. peruvianum from Lough Swilly mainly produced spirolides 13 desmethyl-C and 13 desmethyl-D whereas one of A. ostenfeldii, from Bantry Bay, produced spirolides C and D. Species identification was confirmed through the analyses of SSU, ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 and LSU rDNA genes. Some nucleotide variability was observed among clones of toxic strains of A. tamarense, which all clustered within the North American clade. However, rDNA sequencing did not allow discrimination between the toxic and non-toxic forms of A. minutum. Phylogenetic analysis also permitted the differentiation of A. ostenfeldii from A. peruvianum. Resting cysts of PSP toxin producing Alexandrium species were found in Cork Harbour and Belfast Lough, locations where shellfish contamination events have occurred in the past, highlighting the potential for the initiation of harmful blooms from cyst beds. The finding of supposedly non-toxic and biotoxin-producing Alexandrium species near aquaculture production sites will necessitate the use of reliable discriminative methods in phytoplankton monitoring.  相似文献

In temperate latitudes, toxic cyanobacteria blooms often occur in eutrophied ecosystems during warm months. Many common bloom-forming cyanobacteria have toxic and non-toxic strains which co-occur and are visually indistinguishable but can be quantified molecularly. Toxic Microcystis cells possess a suite of microcystin synthesis genes (mcyAmcyJ), while non-toxic strains do not. For this study, we assessed the temporal dynamics of toxic and non-toxic strains of Microcystis by quantifying the microcystin synthetase gene (mcyD) and the small subunit ribosomal RNA gene, 16S (an indicator of total Microcystis), from samples collected from four lakes across the Northeast US over a two-year period. Nutrient concentrations and water quality were measured and experiments were conducted which examined the effects of elevated levels of temperatures (+4 °C), nitrogen, and phosphorus on the growth rates of toxic and non-toxic strains of Microcystis. During the study, toxic Microcystis cells comprised between 12% and 100% of the total Microcystis population in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY, and between 0.01% and 6% in three other systems. In all lakes, molecular quantification of toxic (mcyD-possessing) Microcystis was a better predictor of in situ microcystin levels than total cyanobacteria, total Microcystis, chlorophyll a, or other factors, being significantly correlated with the toxin in every lake studied. Experimentally enhanced temperatures yielded significantly increased growth rates of toxic Microcystis in 83% of experiments conducted, but did so for non-toxic Microcystis in only 33% of experiments, suggesting that elevated temperatures yield more toxic Microcystis cells and/or cells with more mcyD copies per cell, with either scenario potentially yielding more toxic blooms. Furthermore, concurrent increases in temperature and P concentrations yielded the highest growth rates of toxic Microcystis cells in most experiments suggesting that future eutrophication and climatic warming may additively promote the growth of toxic, rather than non-toxic, populations of Microcystis, leading to blooms with higher microcystin content.  相似文献

This study focuses on the interactions between toxic phytoplankton and zooplankton grazers. The experimental conditions used are an attempt to simulate situations that have, so far, received little attention. We presume the phytoplankton community to be a set of species where a population of a toxic species is intrinsically diverse by the presence of coexisting strains with different toxic properties. The other species in the community may not always be high-quality food for herbivorous zooplankton. Zooplankton populations may have developed adaptive responses to sympatric toxic phytoplankton species. Zooplankton grazers may perform a specific feeding behaviour and its consequences on fitness will depend on the species ingested, the effect of toxins, and the presence of mechanisms of toxin dilution and compensatory feeding. Our target species are a strain of the dinoflagellate Alexandrium minutum and a sympatric population of the copepod Acartia clausi. Mixed diets were used with two kinds of A. minutum cells: non-toxic and toxic. The flagellate Rhodomonas baltica and the non-toxic dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarense were added as accompanying species. The effect of each alga was studied in separate diets. The toxic A. minutum cells were shown to have negative effects on egg production, hatching success and total reproductive output, while, in terms of its effect on fitness, the non-toxic A. minutum was the best quality food offered. R. baltica and A. tamarense were in intermediate positions. In the mixed diets, copepods showed a strong preference for toxic A. minutum cells and a weaker one for A. tamarense cells, while non-toxic A. minutum was slightly negatively selected and R. baltica strongly negatively selected. Although the level of toxins accumulated by copepods was very similar, in both the diet with only toxic A. minutum cells and in the mixed diet, the negative effects on fitness in the mixed diet could be offset by toxin dilution mechanisms. The implications of these findings are the fact that mesozooplankton may not play an important role in phytoplankton blooms development. Phytoplankton endotoxin production does not seem to be an evolutionary stable strategy as a defence against some herbivores.  相似文献

Toxic cyanobacteria can have harmful or fatal impacts on aquatic organisms. In the archipelagos of the northern Baltic Sea, the open sea blooms often drift into littoral areas, where they decompose and release toxins and other chemical compounds in the water. However, the effects of cyanobacteria on the littoral organisms have not previously been investigated. We studied the effects of three cyanobacteria species (toxic Nodularia spumigena, non-toxic N. sphaerocarpa and non-toxic Aphanizomenon flos-aquae) and purified dissolved nodularin (produced by N. spumigena) on a common littoral amphipod Gammarus zaddachi. Nodularin was transferred to eggs, juveniles and adults of G. zaddachi, but no significant negative effects of dissolved nodularin were detected on adults, eggs or juveniles. However, survival of adults decreased by the exposure to toxic N. spumigena cells. The egg hatching rate and juvenile survival were not affected when exposed to the three cyanobacteria species. In contrast, a weak decrease in the egg production and an increased abortion of embryos from the brood pouch of females was observed, the later indicating a failure in parental care. Further, a decrease in grazing rate on the filamentous green alga Enteromorpha intestinalis was observed. The results suggest that toxic cyanobacteria blooms are not extremely fatal, but may have, in high concentrations, negative effects on the adult survival, fecundity, and feeding behaviour of gammarids inhabiting the littoral zone.  相似文献

Hexane extracts of some algae belonging to the Dictyotales collected over a 12 month period were tested for their antifungal activity using human pathogenic fungi (yeasts, moulds and dermatophytes) and phytopathogenic fungi responsible for diseases in Mediterranean plants and trees. The three algal species tested (Dictyota dichotoma, Dictyota dichotoma var. implexa, Dilophus spiralis) exhibited a wide spectrum of antifungal activity which varied during the seasons.  相似文献

Field and laboratory research at Carrie Bow Cay, Belize showed that macroalgae, grouped in functional-form units resisted fish and urchin herbivory in the following order (from high to low resistance): Crustose-Group, Jointed Calcareous-Group, Thick Leathery-Group, Coarsely Branched-Group, Filamentous-Group and Sheet-Group; thereby supporting the hypothesis that crustose, calcareous and thick algae have evolved antipredator defenses and should show the greatest resistance to herbivory with a gradation of increasing palatability towards filaments and sheets. Of the 21 species examined, several (e.g.,Dictyota cervicornis on grids,Laurencia obtusa andStypopodium zonale) had exceptionally low losses to fish grazing, probably due to chemical defences. The sea urchin,Diadema antillarum, was more inclined to feed on algae with known toxic secondary metabolites than were herbivorous fishes; hypothetically related to the differences in mobility and concomitant modes of feeding. Tough leathery forms such asSargassum polyceratium andTurbinaria turbinata resisted grazing by bottom feeding parrotfishes (Scaridae) and surgeonfishes (Acanthuridae) but were susceptible when suspended midway in the water column, possibly due to the presence of rudderfishes (Kyphosidae) which readily consume drift Sargassaceae. The overall tendencies support our predicted relationship between grazer-resistance and algal morphology. In conjunction with our previously reported findings concerning primary productivity, toughness and calorimetry for many of the same species, these results lend credence to generalizations relating form with function in marine macroalgae.  相似文献

Coral-dwelling gobies in the genus Gobiodon (family Gobiidae) posses toxic skin secretions. We used bioassays to investigate interspecific variation in the toxicity of skin secretions from six species of Gobiodon from Lizard Island on the Great Barrier Reef. We then used feeding experiments with two common species of predatory fish to test if skin secretions might act as a chemical defence against predation. The skin secretions of all species were toxic to the bioassay species, Apogon fragilis, but there were marked differences in toxicity among Gobiodon species. Feeding experiments showed that both small- and large-gaped predators avoided food items to which goby skin secretions, or a whole goby, had been added. These experiments indicate that skin toxins could function as a predator deterrent in coral-dwelling gobies.  相似文献

Global warming was believed to accelerate the expansion of cyanobacterial blooms. However, the impact of changes due to the allelopathic effects of cyanobacterial blooms with or without algal toxin production on the ecophysiology of its coexisting phytoplankton species arising from global warming were unknown until recently. In this study, the allelopathic effects of toxic and non-toxic Microcystis aeruginosa strains on the growth of green alga Chlorella vulgaris and photosynthesis of the co-cultivations of C. vulgaris and toxic M. aeruginosa FACHB-905 or non-toxic M. aeruginosa FACHB-469 were investigated at different temperatures. The growth of C. vulgaris, co-cultured with the toxic or non-toxic M. aeruginosa strains, was promoted at 20 °C but inhibited at temperatures ≥25 °C. The inhibitory effects of the toxic and non-toxic M. aeruginosa strains on of the co-cultivations (C. vulgaris and non-toxic M. aeruginosa FACHB-469 or toxic M. aeruginosa FACHB-905) also linearly increased with elevated temperatures. Furthermore, toxic M. aeruginosa FACHB-905 induced more inhibition toward growth of C. vulgaris or Pmax and Rd of the mixtures than non-toxic M. aeruginosa FACHB-469. C. vulgaris dominated over non-toxic M. aeruginosa FACHB-469 but toxic M. aeruginosa FACHB-905 overcame C. vulgaris when they were co-cultured in mesocosms in water temperatures from 20 to 25 °C. The results indicate that allelopathic effects of M. aeruginosa strains on C. vulgaris are both temperature- and species-dependent: it was stimulative for C. vulgaris at low temperatures such as 20 °C, but inhibitory at high temperatures (≥25 °C); the toxic strain was determined to be more harmful to C. vulgaris than the non-toxic one. This suggests that global warming may aggravate the ecological risk of cyanobacteria blooms, especially those with toxic species as the main contributors.  相似文献

We measured ingestion and clearance rates of two Baltic Seacalanoid copepods, Eurytemora affinis and Acartia bifilosa,on toxic and non-toxic cyanobacteria Nodularia sp. using theisotope technique. Eurytemora affinis fed actively on the non-toxicstrain and moderately actively on the toxic strain, whereasA.bifilosa totally avoided feeding on both strains. This suggeststhat A.bifilosa rejected cyanobacterial filaments due to theirnutritional inadequacy or difficult manageability. The differentresponse of E.affinis to the non-toxic and toxic strains, inturn, shows that this copepod species was able to sense thepresence of the toxin in cyanobacterial filaments and thereforefed less on the toxic strain. The interaction between A.bifilosaand Nodularia sp. was further examined (with the particle countingmethod) by measuring the clearance rates of A.bifilosa on ediblegreen flagellates in the presence of cyanobacteria. The presenceor concentration of toxic Nodularia sp. did not affect grazingrates of A.bifilosa on Brachiomonas submarina. Since earlierstudies have shown that ingestion of Nodularia sp. decreasesegg production and increases mortality in E.affinis, we suggestthat the occurrence of Nodularia sp. blooms in the Baltic Seamay favour individuals of copepod species capable of selectivefeeding, such as A.bifilosa.  相似文献

In the first comprehensive study on the secondary metabolism of all ten North American Armillaria species, we analyzed their capacity to produce sesquiterpene aryl ester natural products. All species were identified as producers. Species-specific trends were observed for some species, e.g., for Armillaria ostoyae and A. gemina (low diversity of aryl esters) or A. tabescens (very low number of chlorinated aryl esters). The crude extracts were assayed for antibiotic activity against wood-rotting basidiomycetes and ubiquitous soil fungi. Inhibitory effects were strongly dependent on the target organism, with basidiomycetes being more susceptible than other fungi. Tapinella panuoides and Omphalotus illudens were inhibited by extracts of all Armillaria species whereas the same extracts were completely inactive against Trichoderma harzianum, widely inactive against Mucor racemosus, and only moderately active against Aspergillus flavus and Penicillium oxalicum. Activity tests with seven purified aryl esters suggest that lipophilicity and the position of the double bond in the tricyclic sesquiterpene moiety impact upon bioactivity while the substitution pattern of the aromatic ring does not. Arnamial was the most active compound and showed a minimum inhibitory concentration of <5 μg/ml for all four basidiomycetes and Penicillium oxalicum, but did not inhibit Trichoderma harzianum and Mucor racemosus.  相似文献

The dinoflagellate Pfiesteria piscicida (gen. et sp. nov.).a toxic ‘ambush predator’, has been implicated asa causative agent of major fish kills in estuanne ecosystemsof the southeastern USA. Here we report the first experimentaltests of interactions between P.piscicida and estuarine zooplanktonpredators. specifically the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis andthe calanoid copepod Acartia tonsa. Short-term (10 day) exposureof adult B.plicatilis to P.piscicida as a food resource, aloneor in combination with the non-toxic green algae Nannochlorisand Tetraselmis. did not increase rotifer mortality relativeto animals that were given only non-toxic greens Similarly,short-term (3 day) feeding trials using adult A.tonsa indicatedthat the copepods survived equally well on either P.piscicidaor the non-toxic diatom Thalassiosira pseudonana. Copepods giventoxic dinoflagellates exhibited erratic behavior, however, relativeto animals given diatom prey. The fecundity of B.plicatiliswhen fed the toxic dinoflagellate was comparable to or higherthan that of rotifers fed only non-toxic greens We concludethat, on a short-term basis, toxic stages of P.piscicida canbe readily utilized as a nutritional resource by these commonestuarine zooplankters. Antifouling activity is one poorly investigated property of seaweed natural products. To determine, in the field, whether seaweeds contain chemicals able to influence the settlement of fouling organisms, crude organic extracts from Stypopodium zonale, Dictyota menstrualis (Phaeophyceae) and Laurencia obtusa (Rhodophyceae) were incorporated at natural volumetric concentrations, into hard stable gels that served as substrata for fouling in the experiments. Fouling organisms settled at a significantly higher rate on plates treated with S. zonale extracts than on control gels, while settlement was strongly inhibited on gels containing L. obtusa extracts. Fouling on gels treated with the D. menstrualis extract was not significantly different from the fouling found on control gels. The findings suggest that the broad antifouling properties of the crude extract of L. obtusa inhibit the settlement of fouling as well as hinder the development of settled fouling species, thereby reducing the richness of species. The results imply that L. obtusa possibly harbours powerful agents that can be explored for the development of antifouling technology.  相似文献

Grazing and survival of larvae of the zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha, on a green alga and cyanobacteria were studied in laboratory experiments. Clearance rates of the larvae were determined for Chlamydomonas reinhardtii (green alga), two non-toxic and two toxic Microcystis aeruginosa strains (Cyanobacteria). Clearance rates of larvae on non-toxic Microcystis were significantly higher than on toxic Microcystis. The clearance rate on Chlamydomonas reinhardtii was in between the clearance rates on toxic and non-toxic Microcystis strains and not significantly different from them. Effects of toxicity of Microcystis on the survival of zebra mussel larvae was investigated in a short-term experiment. Survival of larvae fed toxic Microcystis was lower than that of larvae fed non-toxic Microcystis, but higher than that of starved larvae. This may imply that, for survival of zebra mussel larvae, it is better to have bad quality (toxic) food than no food.  相似文献

Plant-derived extracts and phytochemicals have long been a subject of research in an effort to develop alternatives to conventional insecticides but with reduced health and environmental impacts. In this review we compare the bioactivities of some plant extracts with those of commercially available botanical insecticides against two important agricultural pests, the cabbage looper, Trichoplusia ni and the armyworm, Pseudaletia unipuncta. Test materials included extracts of Azadirachta indica (neem), A. excelsa (sentang), Melia volkensii, M. azedarach (Chinaberry) and Trichilia americana, (all belonging to the family Meliaceae) along with commercial botanical insecticides ryania, pyrethrum, rotenone and essential oils of rosemary and clove leaf. Most of the extracts and botanicals tested proved to be strong growth inhibitors, contact toxins and significant feeding deterrents to both lepidopteran species. However, there were interspecific differences with T. ni generally more susceptible to the botanicals than the armyworm, P. unipuncta. All botanicals were more inhibitory to growth and toxic (through feeding) to T. ni than to P. unipuncta, except for M. azedarach which was more toxic to P. unipuncta than to T. ni. Athough, pyrethrum was the most toxic botanical to both noctuids, A. indica, A. excelsa, and M. volkensii were more toxic than ryania, rotenone, clove oil and rosemary oil for T. ni. As feeding deterrents, pyrethrum was the most potent against T. ni, whereas A. indica was the most potent against the armyworm. Based upon growth inhibition, chronic toxicity, and antifeedant activity, some of these plant extracts have levels of activity that compare favorably to botanical products currently in commercial use and have potential for development as commercial insecticides.  相似文献
