中国长颊花天牛属及新种记述：（鞘翅目：天牛科）

天牛科,花天牛亚科Lepturinae、花天牛族Lepturini的长颊花天牛属Gnathostrang alia是由Hayashi于1985年建立的,并将条胸长颊花天牛Lepturabilineatithorax Pic,黑条长颊花天牛Strangalia rufovittata Pic,天目山长颊花天牛Strangalia tienmushana Gressitt,黑尾长颊花天牛Strangalia aurivillei Pic以及横条长颊花天牛Strangalia longiceps Aurivillus等5个种移入此属,其中,分布在越南的有3种,加里曼丹1种,中国浙江天目山1种。该属与长尾花天牛属Pygostrangalia很近似,但头前部更长,前胸背板较宽,后侧角较发达,鞘翅基部较宽,向中部收狭,端半部外侧缘较直。本文记述了在广西龙胜和四川重庆江津四面山发现的两个新种。     

中国天牛科一新记录种

记述天牛科Cerambycidae天牛亚科Cerambycinae长绿天牛属Chloridolum长绿天牛亚属Chloridolum 1新记录种：绒斑长绿天牛Chloridolum plicovelutinum Gressitt ＆ Rondon。观察标本保存在广东省昆虫研究所昆虫标本馆。     

中国异胸天牛属一新记录种记述(鞘翅目:天牛科:锯天牛亚科)(英文)

记述了中国异胸天牛属1新记录种,即艾略特异胸天牛Anomophysis ellioti(Waterhouse,1884),标本采自云南省玉溪市。检视标本保存于长江大学农学院昆虫标本室。     

四种筒天牛幼虫和蛹记要(鞘翅目:天牛科)

筒天牛属沟胫天牛亚科Lamiinae、楔天牛族Saperdini,为害多种植物。现将吉安樟筒天牛Oberea fusciventris Fairmaire、忍冬筒天牛O.incompleta Fairmaire构树筒天牛O.rufotestasea Pic和暗翅筒天牛O.fuscipennis(Chevrolat)幼虫和蛹的形态、生物学习性记述如下,本文长度单位均为mm。     

中国脊筒天牛属分类研究(鞘翅目:天牛科)

系统整理了中国脊筒天牛属失一部种类,共31种,给出了所有种类的分类检索表,记述了新种暗背脊筒天牛Nupserha fuscodorsalis Wang et Chiang,sp nov。及2中国新纪录种三斑脊筒天牛Nupserha multimaculata Pic和黑肩脊筒天牛Nupserha nigrohumeralis Pic,新种正模保存于西南农业大学昆虫标本馆,副模共5号存于南开大学生物系标本室。     

中国天牛科五新记录种

记述天牛科Cerambycidae天牛亚科Cerambycinae5中国新记录种,即绿虎天牛属Chlorophorus中的碎点绿虎天牛Chlorophorus fraternus Holzschuh,卡氏绿虎天牛Chlorophorus kanoiHayashi,栗绿虎天牛Chorophorus varius varius(Muller)。柄天牛属Aphrodisium中的紫胸柄天牛Aphrodisium seipur pureum Pic和绿天牛属Chelidonium中的二斑绿天牛Chelidonium binotatiolle Pic。     

中国天牛科一新记录种

记述了天牛科Cerambycidae花天牛亚科Lepturinae驼花天牛属Pidonia1新记录种——雅玛驼花天牛Pidonia (Pidonia) yamato Hayashi et Mizuno,标本保存在西南大学昆虫博物馆。     

中国瘦棍腿天牛属一新记录种（鞘翅目：天牛科：天牛亚科）

记述中国瘦棍腿天牛属1新记录种:白腹瘦棍腿天牛Stenodryas ventralis(Gahan, 1906)。简述了该种的形态特征,提供了瘦棍腿天牛属中国已知记录种的检索表。研究标本保存在西南大学昆虫标本馆。     

北京的脊虎天牛属分类研究(鞘翅目:天牛科)

对分布于北京的10种脊虎天牛属甲虫开展了分类研究,恢复了北京脊虎天牛Xylotrechus pekingensis Pic,1939的地位,不再是宽带脊虎天牛Xylotrechus yanoi Gressitt,1934的异名,报道了本种在河北和陕西的新分布记录.提出双带脊虎天牛Xylotrechus bifenestratus Pic,1916是四带脊虎天牛Xylotrechus polyzonus (Fairmaire,1888)的新异名,两者的模式标本均产自北京.本文还报道了3种北京新记录种:显纹脊虎天牛X.ibex (Gebler,1825)、葡脊虎天牛X.pyrrhoderus Bates,1873和黑胸脊虎天牛X.robusticollis (Pic,1936).通过检视标本,很多新的分布信息被加入到相关的种类.最后本文提供了分布于北京的10种脊虎天牛属甲虫的分种检索表.     

中国袖蜡蝉科一新记录属及一新记录种

记述采自中国云南省袖蜡蝉科1新记录属:肖长袖蜡蝉属Zoraidoides Distant及1新记录种:玛肖长袖蜡蝉Zoraidoides malabarensis Distant,提供了形态描述、分布及形态图。标本保存于西北农林科技大学昆虫博物馆。

Geminiviruses: a tale of a plasmid becoming a virus

Background  

Geminiviruses (family Geminiviridae) are small single-stranded (ss) DNA viruses infecting plants. Their virion morphology is unique in the known viral world – two incomplete T = 1 icosahedra are joined together to form twinned particles. Geminiviruses utilize a rolling-circle mode to replicate their genomes. A limited sequence similarity between the three conserved motifs of the rolling-circle replication initiation proteins (RCR Reps) of geminiviruses and plasmids of Gram-positive bacteria allowed Koonin and Ilyina to propose that geminiviruses descend from bacterial replicons.     

Transformation of a psychrotrophic bacterium with a plasmid from a mesophile

The psychrotrophic bacteriumBacillus psychrophilus was transformed with the broadhost-range plasmid pC194. The ability of the transformant to express chloramphenicol (CAM) resistance and the possible effects of such expression on the physiology of the psychrotroph were examined. The transformant exhibited growth rates, filament formation at elevated temperatures, synthesis of cold shock proteins and cold acclimation proteins, similar to the parentalB. psychrophilus.
