Indigo-reducing bacteria perform natural fermentation in indigo fermentation fluid. Owing to the stochastic nature of the process, the constituent in indigo fermentation fluid differ depending on the prepared batch and fermentation period. To identify new indigo-reducing bacteria, isolation of the bacteria is indispensable. However, isolation of indigo-reducing bacteria is difficult because conventional media are often unsuitable to isolate these slow-growing bacteria that also exist in low numbers. Hydrolysates of polysaccharides and mixtures of plant base constituents are candidates to accelerate the isolation of indigo-reducing bacteria that cannot be isolated using conventional media. In this current study, wheat bran hydrolysate and composted indigo leaves (sukumo) were used as ingredients in the fermentation fluid in the selective medium for indigo-reducing bacteria in anaerobic culture. The results suggested that obligate and oxygen-non-metabolizing facultative anaerobes are difficult to isolate using conventional media, whereas oxygen-metabolizing facultative anaerobes, relatively rapid-growing and major bacterial strains are relatively easy to isolate. Media containing sukumo hydrolysate facilitated the isolation of novel species of Bacillus pseudofirmus-related strains, whereas media containing wheat bran hydrolysate facilitated the isolation of Amphibacillus spp. (including new species). Seven species (including two new species) of indigo-reducing bacteria were isolated using wheat bran hydrolysate-containing media, whereas six species (including three new species) of indigo-reducing bacteria were isolated using media containing both wheat bran and sukumo hydrolysates. These newly developed culture media will facilitate the isolation of unknown bacteria in indigo fermentation and in environments similar to indigo fermentation fluid.  相似文献

The bacterial diversity in fermenting dye vats with woad (Isatis tinctoria L.) prepared and maintained in a functional state for approximately 12 months was examined using a combination of culture-dependent and -independent PCR-DGGE analyses and next-generation sequencing of 16S rRNA amplicons. An extremely complex ecosystem including taxa potentially contributing to both indigo reduction and formation, as well as indigo degradation was found. PCR-DGGE analyses revealed the presence of Paenibacillus lactis, Sporosarcina koreensis, Bacillus licheniformis, and Bacillus thermoamylovorans, while Bacillus thermolactis, Bacillus pumilus and Bacillus megaterium were also identified but with sequence identities lower than 97%. Dominant operational taxonomic units (OTUs) identified by pyrosequencing included Clostridium ultunense, Tissierella spp., Alcaligenes faecalis, Erysipelothrix spp., Enterococcus spp., Virgibacillus spp. and Virgibacillus panthothenicus, while sub-dominant OTUs included clostridia, alkaliphiles, halophiles, bacilli, moderately thermophilic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, Enterobacteriaceae, aerobes, and even photosynthetic bacteria. Based on the current knowledge of indigo-reducing bacteria, it is considered that indigo-reducing bacteria constituted only a small fraction in the unique microcosm detected in the natural indigo dye vats.  相似文献

Paocai is a traditional Chinese fermented food and typically produced via spontaneous fermentation. We have investigated the microbial community utilized for the fermentation of industrialized Qingcai paocai using the combination of Illumina MiSeq sequencing, PCR-mediated denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) and quantitative PCR (qPCR) assay. Three main phyla, namely Firmicutes, Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes, were identified by both MiSeq sequencing and PCR-DGGE. The dominant genera observed in the fermentation were Lactobacillus, Pseudomonas, Vibrio and Halomonas. Most genera affiliated with Proteobacteria or Bacteroidetes were detected more often during the earlier part of the fermentation, while Lactobacillus (affiliated with Firmicutes) was dominant during the later fermentation stages. Fungal community analysis revealed that Debaryomyces, Pichia and Kazachstania were the main fungal genera present in industrialized Qingcai paocai, with Debaryomyces being the most dominant during the fermentation process. The quantities of dominant genera Lactobacillus and Debaryomyces were monitored using qPCR and shown to be 109–1012 and 106–1010 copies/mL, respectively. During the later fermentation process of industrialized Qingcai paocai, Lactobacillus and Debaryomyces were present at 1011 and 108 copies/mL, respectively. These results facilitate further understanding of the unique microbial ecosystem during the fermentation of industrialized Qingcai paocai and guide future improvement of the fermentation process.  相似文献

Gut microbial diversity and the core microbiota of the Jinhua pig, which is a traditional, slow-growing Chinese breed with a high body-fat content, were examined from a total of 105 fecal samples collected from 6 groups of pigs at 3 weaning ages that originated from 2 strains and were raised on 3 different pig farms. The bacterial community was analyzed following high-throughput pyrosequencing of 16S rRNA genes, and the fecal concentrations of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) were measured by gas chromatograph. Our results showed that Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes were the dominant phyla, and Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, Clostridium, SMB53, and Bifidobacterium were the most abundant genera. Fifteen predominant genera present in every Jinhua pig sample constituted a phylogenetic core microbiota and included the probiotics Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, and the SCFA-producing bacteria Clostridium, Prevotella, Bacteroides, Coprococcus, Roseburia, Ruminococcus, Blautia, and Butyricicoccus. Comparisons of the microbiota compositions and SCFA concentrations across the 6 groups of pigs demonstrated that genetic background and weaning age affected the structure of the gut microbiota more significantly than the farm. The relative abundance of the core genera in the pigs, including Lactobacillus, Clostridium, Prevotella, Bacteroides, Roseburia, Ruminococcus, Blautia, and Butyricicoccus varied dramatically in pigs among the 2 origins and 3 weaning ages, while Oscillospira, Megasphaera, Parabacteroides, and Corynebacterium differed among pigs from different farms. Interestingly, there was a more significant influence of strain and weaning age than of rearing farm on the SCFA concentrations. Therefore, strain and weaning age appear to be the more important factors shaping the intestinal microbiome of pigs.  相似文献

The purpose of this work was to analyse the diversity and dynamics of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) throughout the fermentation process in Atole agrio, a traditional maize based food of Mexican origin. Samples of different fermentation times were analysed using culture-dependent and -independent approaches. Identification of LAB isolates revealed the presence of members of the genera Pediococcus, Weissella, Lactobacillus, Leuconostoc and Lactococcus, and the predominance of Pediococcus pentosaceus and Weissella confusa in liquid and solid batches, respectively. High-throughput sequencing (HTS) of the 16S rRNA gene confirmed the predominance of Lactobacillaceae and Leuconostocaceae at the beginning of the process. In liquid fermentation Acetobacteraceae dominate after 4 h as pH decreased. In contrast, Leuconostocaceae dominated the solid fermentation except at 12 h that were overgrown by Acetobacteraceae. Regarding LAB genera, Lactobacillus dominated the liquid fermentation except at 12 h when Weissella, Lactococcus and Streptococcus were the most abundant. In solid fermentation Weissella predominated all through the process. HTS determined that Lactobacillus plantarum and W. confusa dominated in the liquid and solid batches, respectively. Two oligotypes have been identified for L. plantarum and W. confusa populations, differing in a single nucleotide position each. Only one of the oligotypes was detected among the isolates obtained from each species, the biological significance of which remains unclear.  相似文献

Gut microbiota plays a crucial importance in their host. Disturbance of the microbial structure and function is known to be associated with inflammatory intestinal disorders. Enteritis is a significant cause of high mortality in fish species, including grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus). Study regarding the association between microbial alternations and enteritis in grass carp is still absent. In this study, changes in the gut microbiota of grass carp suffering from enteritis were investigated using NGS-based 16S rRNA sequencing. Six healthy and ten abnormal fish (showing reddening anus, red odiferous fluid accumulating in the abdominal capacity, and flatulence and haemorrhage in the intestine) were collected from a fish farm in Huanggang Fisheries Institute (Hubei, China). Our results revealed that the diversity, structure, and function of gut microbiota were significantly different between diseased and healthy fish (P?<?0.05). Particularly, members of the genera Dechloromonas, Methylocaldum, Planctomyces, Rhodobacter, Caulobacter, Flavobacterium, and Pseudomonas were significantly increased in diseased fish compared with that in healthy fish (P?<?0.05). Predicted function indicated that microbiota significantly changed the specific metabolic pathways (related to amino acid metabolism, xenobiotics biodegradation and metabolism, and carbohydrate metabolism) in diseased fish (P?<?0.05). Taken together, our findings point out the association between changes of the gut microbiota and enteritis in grass carp, which provide basic information useful for diagnoses, prevention, and treatment of intestinal diseases occurring in cultured fish.  相似文献

Statin response shows great interindividual variations. Recently, emerging studies have shown that gut microbiota is linked to therapeutic responses to drugs, including statins. However, the association between the gut bacteria composition and statin response is still unclear. In this study, gut microbiota of 202 hyperlipidemic patients with statin sensitive (SS) response and statin resistant (SR) response in East China were investigated by high throughput sequencing to compare the gut bacteria composition and biodiversity in distinct statin response patients. Higher biodiversity was detected in Group SS than Group SR. Specifically, group SS showed significantly increased proportion of genera Lactobacillus (P = 0.001), Eubacterium (P = 0.004), Faecalibacterium (P = 0.005), and Bifidobacterium (P = 0.002) and decreased proportion of genus Clostridium (P = 0.001) compared to Group SR. The results indicated that higher gut biodiversity was associated with statin sensitive response. The increased genera Lactobacillus, Eubacterium, Faecalibacterium, Bifidobacterium, and decreased genus Clostridium in patient gut microbiota may predict patient's statin response, and hence may guide statin dosage adjustments.  相似文献

Overproduction of livestock manures with unpleasant odors causes significant environmental problems. The microbial fermentation bed (MFB) system is considered an effective approach to recycling utilization of agricultural byproducts and pig manure (PM). To gain a better understanding of bacterial communities present during the degradation of PM in MFB, the PM bacterial community was evaluated at different fermentation stages using 16S rRNA high throughput sequencing technology. The heatmap plot clustered five samples into short-term fermentation stage of 0–10 days and long-term fermentation stage of 15–20 days. The most abundant OTUs at the phylum level were Firmicutes, Actinobacteria and Proteobacteria in the long-term fermentation stage of PM, whereas Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, and Proteobacteria predominated in the short-term fermentation stage of PM. At the genus level, organic degradation strains, such as Corynebacterium, Bacillus, Virgibacillus, Pseudomonas, Actinobacteria, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus were the predominate genera at the long-term fermentation stage, but were found only rarely in the short-term fermentation stage. C/N ratios increased and the concentration of the unpleasant odor substance 3-hydroxy-5-methylisoxazole (3-MI) decreased with prolonged period of fermentation. Redundancy analysis (RDA) demonstrated that the relative abundance of Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Acidobacteria and Proteobacteria had a close relationship with degradation of 3-MI and increasing C/N ratio. These results provide valuable additional information about bacterial community composition during PM biodegradation in animal husbandry.  相似文献

The cecum plays an important role in the feed fermentation of ruminants. However, information is very limited regarding the cecal microbiota and their methane production. In the present study, the cecal content from twelve local Chinese goats, fed with either a hay diet (0% grain) or a high-grain diet (71.5% grain), were used to investigate the bacterial and archaeal community and their methanogenic potential. Microbial community analysis was determined using high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA genes and real-time PCR, and the methanogenesis potential was assessed by in vitro fermentation with ground corn or hay as substrates. Compared with the hay group, the high-grain diet significantly increased the length and weight of the cecum, the proportions of starch and crude protein, the concentrations of volatile fatty acids and ammonia nitrogen, but decreased the pH values (P?<?0.05). The high-grain diet significantly increased the abundances of bacteria and archaea (P?<?0.05) and altered their community. For the bacterial community, the genera Bifidobacterium, Prevotella, and Treponema were significantly increased in the high-grain group (P?<?0.05), while Akkermansia, Oscillospira, and Coprococcus were significantly decreased (P?<?0.05). For the archaeal community, Methanosphaera stadtmanae was significantly increased in the high-grain group (P?<?0.05), while Methanosphaera sp. ISO3-F5 was significantly decreased (P?<?0.05). In the in vitro fermentation with grain as substrate, the cecal microorganisms from the high-grain group produced a significantly higher amount of methane and volatile fatty acids (P?<?0.05), and produced significantly lower amount of lactate (P?<?0.05). Conclusively, high-grain diet led to more fermentable substrates flowing into the hindgut of goats, resulting in an enhancement of microbial fermentation and methane production in the cecum.  相似文献

The first metagenomic study of gut microbiota in patients with the alcohol dependence syndrome (ADS) has been performed in the whole-genome sequencing (“shotgun”) format. Taxonomic analysis revealed changes in the relative abundance of the predominant bacteria associated with inflammatioln (including increased levels of Ruminococcus gnavus and R. torques, and decreased levels of Faecalibacterium and Akkermansia genera). The microbiota of ADS patients was characterized by the presence of opportunistic pathogens rarely detected in metagenomes of healthy individuals from different countries. Comparative analysis of total metabolic potential revealed increased relative abundance of KEGG pathways associated with the response to oxidative stress. ADS patients also had increased levels of two specific groups of genes encoding enzymes involved in the metabolism of alcohol, as well as virulence factors. It is possible that gut microbiota of ADS patients demonstrating changes in both taxonomic and functional composition plays a role in modulating the effects of alcohol on the host body  相似文献

Da-jiang is the traditional soybean fermented food which is popular in the world for a long time. In order to improve the quality and nutritional value of da-jiang, structure and diversity of bacterial communities in the fermentation of da-jiang were analyzed. Illumina MiSeq platforms coupled with bioinformatics approach were used in this study. In the first 28 days, the trends of bacterial abundance were similar in different regions which are increasing firstly, decreasing secondly, and rising again. The quantity of bacteria in post-fermentation is lower than pre-fermentation. In the fermentation of da-jiang, Firmicutes and Proteobacteria are the dominant phyla. The dominant genera in da-jiang from different regions are different: Tetragenococcus (58.1–73.0%) is the dominant genus in da-jiang from Xinmin; Leuconostoc (9.2–25.7%) is the dominant genus in da-jiang from Tieling; Acinetobacter (8.7–25.1%) and Leuconostoc (12.4–22.0%) are the dominant genera in da-jiang from Shenyang. Additionally, Weissella, Lactobacillus, Staphylococcus, Erwinia, and Pseudomonas also were found in da-jiang. It is identified that Leuconostoc steadily existed in all da-jiang samples. These results demonstrate the diversity of microbes in traditional fermented da-jiang, which will probably provide a data basis for choosing starter culture for da-jiang industrial fermentation.  相似文献

Rabbit neutrophils peptide-1 (NP-1) is a type of defensin that possesses a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. Chlorella ellipsoidea is a new eukaryotic expression system for exogenously producing NP-1. The NP-1 transgenic C. ellipsoidea can be directly added into feed as antimicrobial agent without any purification procedure for the NP-1 peptide. However, the effects of C. ellipsoidea and NP-1 on the host gut microbiota should be explored before application. In this study, diets containing different concentrations (1.25, 2.5, and 5 %) of C. ellipsoidea and NP-1 transgenic C. ellipsoidea were administered to male Sprague–Dawley rats. Compared with the chow diet control group, none of the experimental groups showed any significant differences in their growth indices, and no histopathological damage was observed. The phylotypes of gut microbiota in the control group, the 5 % C. ellipsoidea diet group and the 5 % NP-1 transgenic C. ellipsoidea diet group were determined by 16S rRNA sequencing. The results showed that both 5 % experimental groups had shifted community memberships of gut microbiota. In particular, the 5 % NP-1 transgenic C. ellipsoidea diet exhibited an increased abundance of most Gram-positive bacterial taxa and a reduced abundance of most Gram-negative bacterial taxa, and it promoted the growth of some lactic acid bacterial genera. Lactic acid bacteria, especially the Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, have been widely reported to be benefic effects on the host. Thus NP-1 transgenic C. ellipsoidea is promising feed additive and gut regulator, as it have the potential to increase the abundance of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus in gut microbiota of animal.  相似文献

The pharynx is an important site of microbiota colonization, but the bacterial populations at this site have been relatively unexplored by culture-independent approaches. The aim of this study was to characterize the microbiota structure of the pharynx. Pyrosequencing of 16S rRNA gene libraries was used to characterize the pharyngeal microbiota using swab samples from 68 subjects with laryngeal cancer and 28 subjects with vocal cord polyps. Overall, the major phylum was Firmicutes, with Streptococcus as the predominant genus in the pharyngeal communities. Nine core operational taxonomic units detected from Streptococcus, Fusobacterium, Prevotella, Granulicatella, and Veillonella accounted for 21.3% of the total sequences detected. However, there was no difference in bacterial communities in the pharynx from patients with laryngeal cancer and vocal cord polyps. The relative abundance of Firmicutes was inversely correlated with Fusobacteria, Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Bacteroidetes. The correlation was evident at the genus level, and the relative abundance of Streptococcus was inversely associated with Fusobacterium, Leptotrichia, Neisseria, Actinomyces, and Prevotella. This study presented a profile for the overall structure of the microbiota in pharyngeal swab samples. Inverse correlations were found between Streptococcus and other bacterial communities, suggesting that potential antagonism may exist among pharyngeal microbiota.  相似文献

The microbial community of artisanal corn fermentation called Chicha were isolated, purified and then identified using protein profile by Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF) and confirmed by partial ribosomal gene sequencing. Samples from Chicha beverage were chemically characterized by gas and liquid chromatography (HPLC and GC-MS). Aerobic mesophilic bacteria (AMB) (35.8% of total of isolated microorganisms), lactic acid bacteria (LAB) (21.6%) and yeast (42.6%) were identified. Species of the genera Klebsiella, Bacillus, Staphylococcus, Micrococcus, Enterobacter, and Weissella were identified. Rhodotorula mucilaginosa, Lodderomyces elongisporus, Candida metapsilosis, and C. bohicensis were the yeasts found. The LAB isolates detected were responsible for the high concentrations of lactic acid found during the fermentation process (1.2 g L??1), which is directly related to the decrease in pH values (from 6.95 to 3.70). Maltose was the main carbohydrate detected during corn fermentation (7.02 g L??1 with 36 h of fermentation). Ethanol was found in low concentrations (average 0.181 g L??1), making it possible to characterize the beverage as non-alcoholic. Twelve volatile compounds were identified by gas chromatography; belonging to the groups acids, alcohols aldehydes, acetate and others. MALDI-TOF was successfully used for identification of microbiota. Weissella confusa and W. cibaria were detected in the final product (after 36 h of fermentation), W. confusa is often classified as probiotic and deserve further application studies.  相似文献

The microbiota of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in thirty-five samples of Miang, a traditional fermented tea leaf product, collected from twenty-two different regions of eight provinces in upper northern Thailand was revealed through the culture-dependent technique. A total of 311 presumptive LAB strains were isolated and subjected to clustering analysis based on repetitive genomic element-PCR (rep-PCR) fingerprinting profiles. The majority of the strains belonged to the Lactobacillus genera with an overwhelming predominance of the Lb. plantarum group. Further studies of species-specific PCR showed that 201 of 252 isolates in the Lb. plantarum group were Lb. plantarum which were thus considered as the predominant LAB in Miang, while the other 51 isolates belonged to Lb. pentosus. In contrast to Lb. plantarum, there is a lack of information on the tannase gene and the tea tannin-tolerant ability of Lb. pentosus. Of the 51 Lb. pentosus isolates, 33 were found to harbor the genes encoding tannase and shared 93-99% amino acid identity with tannase obtained from Lb. pentosus ATCC 8041T. Among 33 tannase gene-positive isolates, 23 isolates exhibited high tannin- tolerant capabilities when cultivated on de Man Rogosa and Sharpe agar-containing bromocresol purple (0.02 g/L, MRS-BCP) supplemented with 20% (v/v) crude tea extract, which corresponded to 2.5% (w/v) tannins. These Lb. pentosus isolates with high tannin-tolerant capacity are expected to be the high potential strains for functional tannase production involved in Miang fermentation as they will bring about certain benefits and could be used to improve the fermentation of tea products.  相似文献

Background

Blastocystis sp. is a unicellular eukaryote that is commonly found in the human intestine. Its ability to cause disease is debated and a subject for ongoing research. In this study, faecal samples from 35 Swedish university students were examined through shotgun metagenomics before and after travel to the Indian peninsula or Central Africa. We aimed at assessing the impact of travel on Blastocystis carriage and seek associations between Blastocystis and the bacterial microbiota.

Results

We found a prevalence of Blastocystis of 16/35 (46%) before travel and 15/35 (43%) after travel. The two most commonly Blastocystis subtypes (STs) found were ST3 and ST4, accounting for 20 of the 31 samples positive for Blastocystis. No mixed subtype carriage was detected. All ten individuals with a typable ST before and after travel maintained their initial ST. The composition of the gut bacterial community was not significantly different between Blastocystis-carriers and non-carriers. Interestingly, the presence of Blastocystis was accompanied with higher abundances of the bacterial genera Sporolactobacillus and Candidatus Carsonella. Blastocystis carriage was positively associated with high bacterial genus richness, and negatively correlated to the Bacteroides-driven enterotype. These associations were both largely dependent on ST4 – a subtype commonly described from Europe – while the globally prevalent ST3 did not show such significant relationships.

Conclusions

The high rate of Blastocystis subtype persistence found during travel indicates that long-term carriage of Blastocystis is common. The associations between Blastocystis and the bacterial microbiota found in this study could imply a link between Blastocystis and a healthy microbiota as well as with diets high in vegetables. Whether the associations between Blastocystis and the microbiota are resulting from the presence of Blastocystis, or are a prerequisite for colonization with Blastocystis, are interesting questions for further studies.

Qishan vinegar is a typical Chinese fermented cereal product that is prepared using traditional solid-state fermentation (SSF) techniques. The final qualities of the vinegar produced are closely related to the multiple bacteria present during SSF. In the present study, the dynamics of microbial communities and their abundance in Daqu and vinegar Pei were investigated by the combination of high throughput sequencing and quantitative PCR. Results showed that the Enterobacteriales members accounted for 94.7%, 94.6%, and 92.2% of total bacterial sequences in Daqu Q3, Q5, and Q10, respectively. Conversely, Lactobacillales and Rhodospirillales dominated during the acetic acid fermentation (AAF) stage, corresponding to the quantitative PCR results. Lactobacillus, Acetobacter, Weissella, Leuconostoc and Bacillus were the dominant and characteristic bacterial genera of Qishan vinegar during AAF process. Redundancy analysis suggested that Lactobacillales and Rhodospirillales had a positive correlation with humidity and acidity, respectively. These results confirmed that the bacterial community structure could be affected by physiochemical factors, which determined the unique bacterial composition at different fermentation stages and showed batch-to-batch consistency and stability. Therefore, the conformity of bacterial community succession with physiochemical parameters guaranteed the final quality of Qishan vinegar products. This study provided a scientific perspective for the uniformity and stability of Qishan vinegar, and might aid in controlling the manufacturing process.  相似文献

Gundruk is a fermented leafy vegetable and khalpi is a fermented cucumber product, prepared and consumed in the Himalayas. In situ fermentation dynamics during production of gundruk and khalpi was studied. Significant increase in population of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) was found during first few days of gundruk and khlapi fermentation, respectively. Gundruk fermentation was initiated by Lactobacillus brevis, Pediococcus pentosaceus and finally dominated by Lb. plantarum. Similarly in khalpi fermentation, heterofermentative LAB such as Leuconostoc fallax, Lb. brevis and P. pentosaceus initiated the fermentation and finally completed by Lb. plantarum. Attempts were made to produce gundruk and khalpi using mixed starter culture of LAB previously isolated from respective products. Both the products prepared under lab condition had scored higher sensory-rankings comparable to market products.  相似文献

In this study fecal microflora of human infants born through vaginal delivery (VB) and through cesarean section (CB) were investigated using culture-independent 16S rDNA cloning and sequencing approach. The results obtained clearly revealed that fecal microbiota of VB infants distinctly differ from those in their counterpart CB infants. The intestinal microbiota of infants delivered by cesarean section appears to be more diverse, in terms of bacteria species, than the microbiota of vaginally delivered infants. The most abundant bacterial species present in VB infants were Acinetobacter sp., Bifidobacterium sp. and Staphylococcus sp. However, CB infant’s fecal microbiota was dominated with Citrobacter sp., Escherichia coli and Clostridium difficile. The intestinal microbiota of cesarean section delivered infants in this study was also characterized by an absence of Bifidobacteria species. An interesting finding of our study was recovery of large number of Acinetobacter sp. consisting of Acinetobacter pittii (former Acinetobacter genomic species 3), Acinetobacter junii and Acinetobacter baumannii in the VB infants clone library. Among these, Acinetobacter baumannii is a known nosocomial pathogen and Acinetobacter pittii (genomic species 3) is recently recognized as clinically important taxa within the Acinetobacter calcoaceticusAcinetobacter baumannii (ACB) complex. Although none of the infants had shown any sign of clinical symptoms of disease, this observation warrants a closer look.  相似文献

The main goal of the present study was to address the effect of feeding fermented soybean meal-based diet to Atlantic salmon on gut microbiota. Further, expression of genes of interest, including cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide (cath), mucin 2 (muc2), aquaporin (aqp8ab), and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (pcna), in proximal intestine of fish fed either experimental diet was analyzed. Three experimental diets, including a control fishmeal (30% FM), soybean meal (30% SBM), or fermented soybean meal diet (30% FSBM) were randomly assigned to triplicate tanks during a 50-day trial. The PCR-TTGE showed microbiota composition was influenced by experimental diets. Bands corresponding to genus Lactobacillus and Pediococcus were characteristic in fish fed the FSBM-based diet. On the other hand, bands corresponding to Isoptericola, Cellulomonas, and Clostridium sensu stricto were only observed in fish FM-based diet, while Acinetobacter and Altererythrobacter were detected in fish fed SBM-based diet. The expression of muc2 and aqp8ab were significantly greater in fish fed the FSBM-based diet compared with the control group. Our results suggest feeding FSBM to Atlantic salmon may (1) boost health and growth physiology in fish by promoting intestinal lactic acid bacteria growth, having a prebiotic-like effect, (2) promote proximal intestine health by increasing mucin production, and (3) boost intestinal trans-cellular uptake of water. Further research to better understands the effects of bioactive compounds derived from the fermentation process of plant feedstuff on gut microbiota and the effects on health and growth in fish is required.  相似文献
