海南霸王岭发现库蠓属二新种(双翅目:蠓科)

2009年在海南霸王岭(19.0°N,109.0°E)的昆虫调查采集中,采获许多蠓类,经分类研究,发现其中有二种库蠓新种,分别命名为霸王岭库蠓Culicoides bawanglingensis Yu,Wang and Chen,sp.nov.和曲囊库蠓Culicoides reduncutheca Yu,Wang and Tan,sp.nov.。这2种库蠓属新种的模式标本珍藏于医学昆虫标本馆(北京丰台东大街20号,100071)。

广西库蠓属吉林亚属—新种 (双翅 :蠓科 )(英文)

中国库蠓属吉林亚属已知有 2种。在广西发现的库蠓属吉林亚属一新种 :Culicoides (Jilinocoides)guanxien sissp .nov . ,正模♀ ,1974 0 8 2 9,广西壮族自治区凭祥市 ,郝宝善采。本新种与犍为库蠓CulicoidesqianweiensisYu 1982相近似 ,但后者触角第 7、9节有嗅觉器 ,触须第 3节无感觉器窝 ,大颚齿 14枚 ,翅基淡斑和径中淡斑的形状与本新种明显不同。模式标本保存在沈阳军区军事医学研究所 ,沈阳 110 0 34。     

中国新疆库蠓属一新种描述(双翅目:蠓科 )(英文)

中国的库蠓属已知有 1 1个亚属 2 81种。在新疆发现的库蠓属 1新种 :塔合曼库蠓Culicoides (Culi coides)tahemanensissp .nov.,正模♀ ,副模 3♂ ,1♀ ,1 988 0 7 2 0 ,新疆塔什库尔干县塔合曼。本新种与渐灰库蠓CulicoidesgrisescensEdwards相近似 ,但后者雌虫翅面径 5室和臀室淡斑的形状 ,雄虫尾器阳茎中叶端部的形状与本新种明显不相同。本新种雄虫尾器第 9背板的后缘与日本库蠓C .nipponensis相近似 ,但后者雌虫翅面径 5室、中 2室和臀室淡斑的形状 ,雄虫尾器阳茎中叶的形状与本新种有明显区别。模式标本保存在沈阳军区军事医学研究所 ,沈阳 1 1 0 0 3 4。     

库蠓亚属6种库蠓翅形变化分析及亲缘关系探讨

本研究基于几何形态学测量分析方法对库蠓亚属6种库蠓(渐灰库蠓Culicoides grisescens、光胸库蠓Culicoides impunctatus、日本库蠓Culicoides nipponensis、灰黑库蠓Culicoides pulicaris、刺螫库蠓Culicoides punctatus、天祥库蠓Culicoides tienhsiangensis)的翅脉形态进行定量分析,以探讨6种库蠓种间的亲缘关系。首先对库蠓亚属6种、24头标本翅脉使用几何形态学标点法标记12个地标点,并通过普氏叠加、典型变量分析法、聚类分析法等对6种库蠓翅进行比较分析以及种间亲缘关系探讨。结果显示,翅形变化与亲缘关系结果一致,即6种库蠓的翅形均有显著差异(P<0.05),其中光胸库蠓和渐灰库蠓的翅形变化最小,亲缘关系最近,而日本库蠓与其他5种库蠓的翅形变化最大,亲缘关系最远。初步证实了几何形态学能够做为一种辅助工具对蠓科昆虫进行种间关系及分类研究。

A NEW SPECIES OF THE GENUS CULICOIDES (JILINOCOIDES) (DIPTERA: CERATOPOGONIDAE) FROM THE GUANGXI ZHUANG AUTON. REG., CHINA

Abstract A new species of Cidicoides (Jilinocoides ), C.(J.) guangxiensis sp. nov. from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China is described. The new species is closely allied to Culicoides qianweiensis Yu 1982, but is distinctly different in the presentation of the sensilla coeloconica, sensory pit of the palpus third segment, number of mandible teeth, pale spot on basal portion of wing and r-m pale spot on wing of female. The type specimen is deposited in the Institute of Military Medical Sciences, Shenyang Military District, Shenyang 110034, China.     

DESCRIPTION OF A NEW SPECIES OF THE GENUS CULICOIDES (DIPTERA: CERATOPOGONIDAE) FROM XINGJUNG UYGUR AUT. REG. CHINA*

Abstract A new species of Culicoides, C. tahemanensis sp. nov. is described from Xingjiang Uygur Aut. Reg. in China. The new species is closely allied to Culicoides grisescens Edwards, but both of them are distinctly different in pale spots of cell R₅ and cell A of wing of female, and shape of distal portion of aedeagus of male. The ninth tergum of new species is somewhat allied to C. nipponensis Tokunaga, but distinctly different in pale spots of cell R₅, cell M₂ and cell A of wing, and shape of aedeagus of male. The type speciemens are deposited in the Institute of Military Medical Sciences, Shenyang Military District, Shengyang 110034, China.     

A morphological investigation of Culicoides spp. biting midges (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) from the Caribbean.

Features of the antennae, maxillary palps, and mouthparts of the females of seven species of Culicoides spp. biting midges collected from a montane rainforest site in Trinidad, West Indies, were studied by light and scanning electron microscopy. Comparisons were made with two British species, Culicoides impunctatus and Culicoides nubeculosus. Species-specific differences were demonstrated in the camber and pitch of mandibular teeth, the size and shape of the subapical labral sensilla, the size and depth of the palpal sensory pit, and the number and shape of heads of the palpal sensilla. Counts of sensilla coeloconica and palpal sensilla were suggested as being contributory features for the prediction of host preference, indicating that Culicoides darlingtonae, Culicoides glabellus, Culicoides insinuatus, Culicoides paraensis, and Culicoides pseudodiabolicus were probably mammalophilic species. The host preferences of Culicoides heliconiae and Culicoides flavivenula could not be determined accurately.     

Presence in the Balearic Islands (Spain) of the midges Culicoides imicola and Culicoides obsoletus group

An outbreak of the livestock viral disease bluetongue (BT) was detected during September and October 2000 in the Balearic Islands, Spain. Due to the lack of information about the species of Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) reported in the affected area, six farms in Majorca, four in Minorca and one in Ibiza were selected to carry out surveillance of Culicoides adults using light traps. Here, for the first time, we report the presence in the Balearic Islands of Culicoides imicola Keiffer, the main vector of BT, and the Culicoides obsoletus Meigen group.     

Onchocerca sweetae (Nematoda: Filarioidea): notes on the intermediate host.

Microfilariae of Onchocerca sweetae are broadly distributed in the superficial layers of the dermis of the water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis). A total of 2855 insects representing 20 species were collected from O. sweetae-infected bait buffaloes. Only one species, Culicoides sp. "M", ingested microfilariae from buffalo skin. Larval development of O. sweetae was observed in the thorax of this species. Atotal of 829 insects, representing 7 species and including 749 parous Culicoides spp. were collected from light and Manitoba traps. Developing filarioid larvae were observed only in Culicoides sp. "M". It is concluded that Culicoides sp. "M" is a natural intermediate host of O. sweetae in the Northern Territory of Australia.
