The mating-induced increase in juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis in Heliothis virescens females may be stimulated by production and/or release of stimulatory neuropeptides such as allatotropins (AT). Although there is evidence that H. virescens allatotropin may be structurally related to Manduca sexta allatotropin (Manse-AT), little is known of its occurrence and distribution in H. virescens. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using a monoclonal antibody against Manse-AT was used to quantify concentrations of Manse-AT immunoreactivity in tissue extracts of H. virescens. In mated females, the highest concentrations of Manse-AT-like material occurred in the brain. The ventral nervous system and the accessory glands also contained considerable amounts of Manse-AT-like material, whereas concentrations were very low in ovaries, fat body, and flight muscle. The Manse-AT antibody was used for whole-mount immunocytochemistry to localize Manse-AT-immunoreactivity in the central nervous system. Several groups of Manse-AT-immunoreactive cells were discovered in the brain, subesophageal ganglion, and thoracic and abdominal ganglia of H. virescens females and males. Strong immunoreactivity was detected in axons going through the corpora cardiaca and branching out over the surface of the corpora allata. The presence of Manse-AT-like material in various locations in the central nervous system suggests that these peptides may have other as yet unknown functions. At the posterior margin of the terminal ganglion of males, a group of large immunoreactive cells was observed that was not present in females. Other than that, there were no obvious differences between virgin and mated females or males. The lack of differences in AT distribution in mated and virgin females suggests that mating-induced differences in female JH biosynthesis rates may be caused by changes in cellular response to AT at the level of the CA, rather than by changes in the amounts of AT acting on the CA.  相似文献

The levels of three alternatively spliced mRNAs from the Manduca sexta allatotropin (Manse-AT) gene were determined following physiological manipulations during the larval, pupal and adult stages; starvation of larvae, induction of pupal diapause and adult mating experience. The juvenile hormone biosynthetic activity of the corpora allata (CA) was also determined in starved larvae and in mated and unmated females. Starvation of early fifth instar larvae specifically increased the amount of one Manse-AT mRNA that is predicted to encode Manse-AT and two related peptides, Manse-ATL-I and -II. The normal rapid decrease in the activity of the CA in last instar larvae was not observed in starved insects which maintained a relatively high rate of JH biosynthesis for at least 3 days. Diapause induction resulted in a small increase in one Manse-AT mRNA, but levels were much lower compared to those observed in larvae or adults. During the first 4 days of adult life, Manse-AT mRNA levels were not changed as a result of mating. However, in mated females, the rate of JH biosynthesis gradually increased, in sharp contrast to the relatively low level of CA activity seen in virgin females. These observations suggest the elevated activity of the CA in mated females is not simply due to the increased level of Manse-AT mRNA.  相似文献

Manduca sexta allatotropin (Manse-AT), a peptide originally isolated on the basis of its ability to stimulate juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis in the tobacco hornworm, is a potent in vitro stimulator of the corpora allata (CA) in Pseudaletia unipuncta (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). At 10(-6)M, Manse-AT stimulated in vitro rates of JH biosynthesis by CA of day 0 and 6 adult females 15- and 10-fold respectively. Both Manse-AT and serotonin were also shown to be dose-dependent stimulators of heart rate in day 0, 3 and 6 adult males and females. Furthermore, analysis suggests that there are differences in both resting and Manse-AT-stimulated heart rates depending on age and rearing conditions.  相似文献

We compared the effects of Manduca sexta allatotropin (Manse-AT) on the rate of in vitro juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis by the corpora allata (CA) of different-aged virgin females from migrant (Quebec) and non-migrant (Azores) populations of the armyworm, Pseudaletia unipuncta, as well as from early- and late-calling lines selected from the Quebec population. There was a significant age x strain interaction, with the observed rates of JH biosynthesis in early adult life closely reflecting strain-specific differences in the age at onset of calling. In considering data for all ages combined, treatment of CA with Manse-AT resulted in a significant increase in the rate of JH biosynthesis for all but the Late strain, although significant differences for this strain were detected at certain ages. The CA of females from the Azores strain showed the strongest stimulation, with those of 0- and 1-day-old individuals displaying a singularly high degree of sensitivity. Selection for early- and late-calling lines resulted in significant differences in the temporal patterns of JH biosynthesis but did not markedly affect the sensitivity of the CA to Manse-AT. These findings are discussed within the context of the age-related differences observed in the rates of in vitro JH biosynthesis and JH haemolymph titers previously reported in comparisons of the Quebec and Azorean strains of the true armyworm.  相似文献

Juvenile hormone biosynthesis by the corpora allata is regulated by stimulatory neuropeptides called allatotropins and inhibitory neuropeptides called allatostatins. This study localized Manduca sexta allatotropin-like material in developmental stages of the noctuid moth Heliothis virescens and the honeybee Apis mellifera. Immunocytochemical methods using both fluorescence-tagged antibodies and enzyme-coupled antibodies were used to stain the central nervous tissue of both species. H. virescens contains M. sexta allatotropin (Manse-AT)-like material consistently throughout larval development. The distribution patterns of Manse-AT immunoreactive cell bodies in the CNS persisted from one larval instar to the next. It will be discussed how larval Manse-AT distribution patterns differed from those in adults. The total number of AT-containing cells in brain and subesophageal ganglion gradually increased during larval development, whereas in the thoracic and abdominal ganglia, the number of AT-containing neurons remained constant. In the honeybee A. mellifera, Manse-AT immunoreactive cells were only found in a few brains from late last instar larvae (prepupae). Manse-AT-like material was present in a group of 6-8 cells in the pars intercerebralis. However, we did not find any Manse-AT-like material in brains of early last instar larvae, whose corpora allata (CA) are more sensitive to in vitro stimulation by Manse-AT than prepupal CA.  相似文献

Allatoregulatory peptides either inhibit (allatostatins) or stimulate (allatotropins) juvenile hormone (JH) synthesis by the corpora allata (CA) of insects. However, these peptides are pleitropic, the regulation of JH biosynthesis is not their only function. There are currently three allatostatin families (A-, B-, and C-type allatostatins) that inhibit JH biosynthesis, and two structurally unrelated allatotropins. The C-type allatostatin, characterised by its blocked N-terminus and a disulphide bridge between its two cysteine residues, was originally isolated from Manduca sexta. This peptide exists only in a single from in Lepidoptera and is the only peptide that has been shown to inhibit JH synthesis by the CA in vitro in this group of insects. The C-type allatostatin also inhibits spontaneous contractions of the foregut. The A-type allatostatins, which exist in multiple forms in a single insect, have also been characterised from Lepidoptera. This family of peptides does not appear to have any regulatory effect on JH biosynthesis, but does inhibit foregut muscle contractions. Two structurally unrelated allatotropins stimulate JH biosynthesis in Lepidoptera. The first was identified in M. sexta (Manse-AT) and occurs in other moths. The second (Spofr AT2) has only been identified in Spodoptera frugiperda. Manduca sexta allatotropin also stimulates heart muscle contractions and gut peristalsis, and inhibits ion transport across the midgut of larval M. sexta. The C-terminal (amide) pentapeptide of Manse-AT is important for JH biosynthesis activity. The most active conformation of Manse-AS requires the disulphide bridge, although the aromatic residues also have a significant effect on biological activity. Both A- and C-type allatostatins and Manse-AT are localised in neurosecretory cells of the brain and are present in the corpora cardiaca, CA and ventral nerve cord, although variations in localisation exist in different moths and at different stages of development. The presence of Manse-AS and Manse-AT in the CA correlates with the biological activity of these peptides on JH biosynthesis. There is currently no explanation for the presence of A-type allatostatins in the CA. The three peptide types are also co-localised in neurosecretory cells of the frontal ganglion, and are present in the recurrent nerve that supplies the muscles of the gut, particularly the crop and stomodeal valve, in agreement with their role in the regulation of gut peristalsis. There is also evidence that they are expressed in the midgut and reproductive tissues.  相似文献

Retrocerebral complexes (RCs) were isolated from adult females of the moths Heliothis virescens and Manduca sexta. Different homologs of juvenile hormone (JH) produced by the isolated RCs were identified and amounts measured by capillary gas chromatography-chemical ionization (isobutane)-mass spectroscopy. Only JH I, II and III were identified. Incubation of RCs from both species in media containing acetate, but no propionate, induced production of approximately equal amounts of JH II and JH III, but the amount of JH I present was very low in all samples. Incubation of RCs with synthetic Manduca sexta allatotropin stimulated significant increases in production of all three homologs but increases in JH I and JH II were greater than those for JH III. The effect of allatotropin was mimicked by addition of propionate to the medium, which indicated that allatotropin increased supply of acetyl- and propionyl-CoA precursors. Incubation of tissue from H. virescens females during the first 24 h after eclosion with synthetic Manduca sexta allatostatin did not reduce production of JH. However, incubation of tissue from 3-day-old females with allatostatin significantly reduced production of JH. Similarly, incubation of tissue from H. virescens females during the first 24 h after eclosion with both allatotropin and allatostatin did not increase JH over the amount present in extracts from tissue incubated without the neuropeptides, indicating that allatostatin negated the action of allatotropin. Incubation of tissue from H. virescens females with allatostatin plus farnesol or JH III acid resulted in significant production of JH III, but neither JH I nor JH II was detected. These findings indicated that allatostatin acts prior to formation of the sesquiterpene alcohol precursors of JH.  相似文献

The cessation of juvenile hormone (JH) production is a key endocrine event that halts ovarian development and hence initiates diapause in females of the mosquito, Culex pipiens. The shutdown in endocrine activity of the corpora allata (CA), the source of JH, was manifested in the smaller size of CA in females reared under short daylengths (diapause) compared to those reared under long daylengths (nondiapause), as well as in low expression of the mRNA encoding allatotropin, the neuropeptide that promotes JH biosynthesis in the CA. Genes encoding both allatotropin and allatostatin were identified in C. pipiens, but only expression levels of allatotropin differed in the two types of females. Knockdown of allatotropin mRNA using RNA interference in females programmed for nondiapause resulted in a cessation of ovarian development akin to diapause. This arrest in development could be reversed with an application of JH. Our results thus suggest that suppression of allatotropin is a critical link in regulating the shutdown of the CA during diapause.  相似文献

Juvenile hormone (JH) is considered the prime endogenous signal for the induction of queen development in honey bees (Apis mellifera L.). At the beginning of the last (5th) larval stadium, worker corpora allata synthesize less JH than queen corpora allata as a consequence of a limited production of JH precursors and a caste- and stage-specific block of the terminal step in JH biosynthesis. As previously shown, the Manduca sexta allatotropin stimulates JH biosynthesis in honey bee corpora allata in a dose-dependent and reversible manner, but can not overcome the stage-specific block in the terminal step of JH biosynthesis that is typical for worker early 5th instars. In experiments with M. sexta allatotropin and with the JH precursor farnesoic acid, we found characteristic stage-specific differences in their effects on JH biosynthesis. From the end of the spinning stage on, corpora allata could be stimulated by farnesoic acid to a much higher extent than in earlier developmental stages, suggesting a sudden increase in epoxidase activity. Manduca sexta allatotropin, however, stimulated corpora allata activity until the end of the spinning stage, at which time the corpora allata become suddenly insensitive. These data suggest that in worker larvae, important changes in the regulation of the terminal enzymatic steps in JH biosynthesis occur at the transition from the spinning stage to the prepupal stage. However, the analysis of in vitro activities of the involved enzymes, O-methyltransferase and methyl farnesoate epoxidase, remained inconclusive.  相似文献

The Manduca allatotropin (Manse-AT) gene is expressed as three mRNAs that differ from each other by alternative splicing. The level of one of these mRNAs (RNA-3) is specifically increased in the nerve cord of last instar larvae that were starved, parasitized, or fed the ecdysteroid agonist RH-5992. Each of these treatments results in reduction of feeding and increased levels of juvenile hormone (JH). The normal decline in JH biosynthesis by the corpora allata does not occur in starved or RH-5992-fed larvae. The increase in RNA-3 levels has the capacity to increase the production of Manse-AT and two related peptides that may be part of the complex response of larvae to nutrient deprivation.  相似文献

Manduca sexta allatotropin (Manse-AT) was first isolated on the basis of its ability to stimulate production of juvenile hormone in that insect. We examined whether this neuropeptide affects corpus allatum activity and visceral muscle contraction in adult females of the earwig, Euborellia annulipes. We also assessed the presence of allatotropin-like material in tissues using immunocytochemistry. Manse-AT at 1 nM to 10 muM stimulated juvenile hormone production in vitro by glands of low activity from 2-day virgin females. In glands of high activity from 12-day mated females, 1 and 100 nM allatotropin were effective, but 10 muM was not. Similarly, hindguts of 2-day and 12-day females significantly increased in motility in vitro in response to Manse-AT. A monoclonal antibody to Manse-AT was used to demonstrate allatotropin-like material throughout the nervous system of 2-day, virgin females. Immunoreactivity was most pronounced within varicosities of the corpora cardiaca and perisympathetic organs. No immunofluorescence was observed in gut tissue. Lastly, we showed that extract of retrocerebral complexes also enhanced in vitro hindgut motility from 2-day virgin females, in a dose-dependent manner. These results indicate material similar to M. sexta allatotropin in female earwigs and that such peptides may modulate juvenile hormone biosynthesis and visceral muscle contractions. Sensitivity to the peptides may change with physiological stage.  相似文献

The in vitro synthesis of juvenile hormone (JH) by corpora allata (CA) from the lubber grasshopper (Romalea microptera) was stimulated by low concentrations of brain extract and this effect was reduced at higher concentrations, suggesting the presence of allatotropin (AT) and allatostatin (AST) factors in the brain. The AT activity of brain extracts caused a rapid and reversible stimulation and appeared to be a peptide(s). Reversed phase (C18) HPLC analysis of brain extracts disclosed two peaks of AT activity but no significant AST activity. Manse-AT, Schgr-NPF, and Locmi-FLRF had no effect on JH synthesis by lubber CA, indicating that the Rommi-AT factors are distinct from these peptides. High concentrations of Dippu-AST-7 and Grybi-AST-1 inhibited JH synthesis, implying that AST factors might be present in lubber grasshoppers. CA response to AT activity of brain extracts varied during the oviposition cycle ( approximately 35 days), with the maximum response occurring on days 16-18. AT activity of brain extracts also varied during the cycle, being highest on day 25. Our data suggest that the lubber CA is largely regulated by AT activity, and that JH synthesis reflects both CA response to AT activity and the level of AT activity in the brain.  相似文献

Juvenile hormone (JH) titers must be modulated to permit the normal progress of development and reproduction in mosquitoes. In adult female Aedes aegypti, JH levels are low at adult eclosion, elevated in sugar-fed females and low again after a blood meal. Although degradation plays a role, JH titer is fundamentally determined by the rate of biosynthesis in the corpora allata gland (CA). CA from newly eclosed females (0-1 h after emergence) exhibit a very low basal JH biosynthetic activity, Aedes-allatotropin stimulates the CA in newly emerged females to produce JH. There is a correlation between nutritional reserves at adult emergence (teneral reserves) and CA activity. JH synthesis is significantly reduced in teneral females that emerge with low nutritional reserves. Taking a blood meal results in a reduction of CA activity. The biosynthetic activity of Ae. aegypti CA is significantly inhibited by factors present in the head, as well as by Anopheles gambiae PISCF-allatostatin. Nutritional signals affect the release of allatotropin and allatostatins by the brain resulting in the activation or inhibition of JH synthesis. JH is therefore an important part of a transduction mechanism that connects changes in the nutritional status with activation of specific physiological events during reproduction.  相似文献

Summary

Corpora allata from 8-day-old female Locusta migratoria, during the phase of yolk deposition, exhibit high rates of C-16 juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis. The effect of different potential factors which may be involved in the regulation of corpora allata activity is reported. The biosynthetic activity of corpora allata was determined by radiochemical assay.

In maturing females, no changes in corpora allata activity are detected during one daily cycle. Starvation reduces JH biosynthesis only 3 days after the beginning of the food deprivation. Suppression of the median neurosecretory material by electrocoagulation of the internal cardiaca tract (TCC-I) does not disturb JH biosynthesis whereas the transection of the allata I nerve fibres (NCA-I) or the electrocoagulation of the lateral neurosecretory pericarya results in a rapid decline of JH biosynthesis. These data indicate that the median and lateral allatotropins are different, and that only the lateral neurosecretory material exerts an allatostimulating action on corpora allata at the time of vitellogenesis. The corpora allata response to the median allatotropin changes during oocyte growth. C-16 JH and/or 20-hydroxyecdysone treatments in vitro (addition in the culture medium) and in vivo (injection in female) do not influence JH production in our experimental conditions.  相似文献

The genome of Tribolium castaneum encodes two allatostatin [AS type B; W(X)6Wamide and AS type C; PISCF‐OH] and one allatotropin (AT) precursor, but no AS type A (FGLamide) (Tribolium Genome Sequencing Consortium, 2008: Nature 452:949–955). Here we studied the activity (in vitro) of peptides derived from these precursors on the synthesis/release of juvenile hormone (JH) III. The corpora cardiaca‐corpora allata (CC‐CA) complexes of adult females of another tenebrionid beetle, the mealworm Tenebrio molitor, were used. Incubating the gland complexes in a medium containing Trica‐AS B3 peptide, we showed that the peptide has allatostatic function in T. molitor. The activity of the type C AS depended on the age of the test animals and their intrinsic rate of JH III biosynthesis. The Trica‐AS C peptide inhibited the JH release from CA of 3‐day‐old females with a high intrinsic rate of JH synthesis, but activated JH release from the CA of 7‐day‐old females with a lower intrinsic rate of JH production. The allatotropin peptide (Trica‐AT) also activated the JH release from the CA of 7‐day‐old females in a dose‐dependent and reversible manner. Unexpectedly, a type A AS derived from the precursor of the American cockroach Periplaneta americana (Peram‐AS A2b) inhibited the JH release from the CA of younger and older females in the concentration range of 10?8 to 10?4 M, and the effects were fully reversible in the absence of peptide. These data suggest a complex role of allatoactive neuropeptides in the regulation of JH III biosynthesis in beetles. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Abstract. The regulation of Juvenile Hormone (JH) HI biosynthesis and release by the corpora allata (CA) was studied in final instar male and female larvae of the earwig, Euborellia annulipes , using a radiochemical assay in vitro. In males, maximal biosyntiiesis of JH IH occurred on day 1, then declined to virtually undetectable levels for the following 12 days of the stadium, and finally increased on days 14–16. In females, peaks of biosynthesis were detected on days 0–1 and on day 12. A further investigation of the 12-day-old larvae demonstrated mat in nonmoulting males and females, JH UJ biosynthesis was undetectable. However, for males and females undergoing ecdysis, the biosynthesis of JH III was detected and quantified.
The addition of 60 μM farnesoic acid to the incubation medium significantly increased the production of JH III by CA taken from females from day 8 until the end of the stadium. Glands from 12-day old females that had initiated ecdysis were stimulated by farnesoic acid. By contrast, we could detect no stimulation of production of JH III by farnesoic acid in CA taken from males, even very late in the stadium. CA from newly emerged adult males and females were more active than those of larvae, and were greatly stimulated by farnesoic acid. CA from females immediately after emergence were stimulated significantly more by farnesoic acid man were glands from newly emerged males. These results suggest fundamental differences in the synmetic activity of CA for males and females in this insect.  相似文献

Manduca sexta allatotropin (Manse-AT) is a multifunctional neuropeptide whose actions include the stimulation of juvenile hormone biosynthesis, myotropic stimulation, cardioacceleratory functions, and inhibition of active ion transport. Manse-AT is a member of a structurally related peptide family that is widely found in insects and also in other invertebrates. Its precise role depends on the insect species and developmental stage. In some lepidopteran insects including M. sexta, structurally-related AT-like (ATL) peptides can be derived from alternatively spliced mRNAs transcribed from the AT gene. We have isolated a cDNA for an AT receptor (ATR) from M. sexta by a PCR-based approach using the sequence of the ATR from Bombyx mori. The sequence of the M. sexta ATR is similar to several G protein-coupled receptors from other insect species and to the mammalian orexin receptor. We demonstrate that the M. sexta ATR expressed in vertebrate cell lines is activated in a dose-responsive manner by Manse-AT and each Manse-ATL peptide in the rank order ATL-I > ATL-II > ATL-III > AT, and functional analysis in multiple cell lines suggest that the receptor is coupled through elevated levels of Ca(2+) and cAMP. In feeding larvae, Manse-ATR mRNA is present at highest levels in the Malpighian tubules, followed by the midgut, hindgut, testes, and corpora allata, consistent with its action on multiple target tissues. In the adult corpora cardiaca--corpora allata complex, Manse-ATR mRNA is present at relatively low levels in both sexes.  相似文献

Juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis and the effects of synthetic Manduca sexta allatostatin (Mas-AS) and M. sexta allatotropin (Mas-AT) were investigated in isolated corpora allata (CA) of Vth stadium larvae of the tomato moth, Lacanobia oleracea. Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) of JH extracted from CA shows that larvae produce predominantly JH II and its corresponding acid. It appears that the acid homologue is a result of JH esterase activity in the CA (and other tissues) rather than the lack of JH acid methyltransferase. Mean rates of synthesis (100-200fmol/pr/h) were inhibited ca. 70% by Mas-AS and stimulated in a dose-dependent manner up to three times by Mas-AT. However, Mas-AS had no significant effect on Mas-AT-stimulated rates of JH biosynthesis. Using RP-HPLC and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to Mas-AT, a peak of Mas-AT-like immunoreactivity was detected in larval L. oleracea brain homogenates. Co-elution of this immunoreactive peak with synthetic Mas-AT suggests that this neuropeptide is also present in L. oleracea.  相似文献

We assessed the effects of age and mating status on in vitro juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis, oocyte growth, egg production and vitellogenin (Vg) accumulation in the tortricid moths, Choristoneura fumiferana and C. rosaceana. To determine whether vitellogenesis is dependent on the presence of JH, we also examined the effects of decapitation and JH analog treatments on egg production. In both species, the corpora allata (CA) of adult females released fmol quantities of JH, with JH II being the major homolog produced. The CA began producing detectable quantities of JH around the time of emergence. Full activation of the CA was observed a few hours sooner in C. fumiferana than in C. rosaceana. In pharate adults and young virgin females of both species, growth of the basal oocyte reflected changes in CA activity. Decapitation of newly emerged females significantly reduced egg production, but treatment of decapitated females with the JH analog methoprene resulted in egg production that was similar to (C. fumiferana) or greater than (C. rosaceana) that of controls, indicating that JH is required for oocyte maturation. Vg was first observed in the hemolymph before the presumptive time of CA activation, suggesting that the synthesis of this protein is not dependent on JH. The presence of normal quantities of Vg in the hemolymph of pupae decapitated before CA activation confirmed this hypothesis. The Vg titer underwent a transient decline following CA activation and was significantly lower in mated than in virgin females of both species 3 and 5 days after copulation. Since CA activation at emergence and mating are both expected to cause a rise in the JH titer, we suggest that the declines in the levels of Vg result from JH-enhanced Vg uptake by the developing oocytes. Mating induced a significant increase in egg production but had no measurable impact on rates of JH biosynthesis in vitro.  相似文献

Corpora allata (CA) from adult egg-carrying Indian stick insects, Carausius morosus, synthesise and release juvenile hormone (JH) III in vitro. No JH biosynthesis was observed in larvae, young adults, and old adult females that do not carry sclerotised eggs. In females, which bear sclerotised eggs, a consistent JH biosynthesis was observed. Supplementation of precursors of JH biosynthesis (farnesol, mevalonic acid lactone) greatly enhanced JH biosynthesis in a stage-, age-, and dose-dependent manner, but CA from the last larval instar retained the biosynthesised JH within the gland. Elevated calcium concentration in the incubation medium stimulated JH biosynthesis by CA from older adults but had either no or a poor effect on CA from young adults and larvae. The results obtained with farnesol, mevalonic acid lactone, and calcium indicate that the rate-limiting steps of JH biosynthesis very likely occur before the formation of mevalonic acid and that these early steps cannot be stimulated by elevated calcium concentrations in larvae and young adults. In older adults, in which spontaneous JH biosynthesis occurs, elevated calcium concentration can markedly stimulate JH biosynthesis. A pre-purified extract from brains of adult females had a stimulating effect on JH biosynthesis by CA from adult females. The results indicate that JH biosynthesis in C. morosus may require food-derived farnesol and may be regulated by allatotropic signals from the brain, possibly triggered by sclerotised oocytes in the ovary.  相似文献
