QoS and Contention-Aware Multi-Resource Reservation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
To provide Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee in distributed services, it is necessary to reserve multiple computing and communication resources for each service session. Meanwhile, techniques have been available for the reservation and enforcement of various types of resources. Therefore, there is a need to create an integrated framework for coordinated multi-resource reservation. One challenge in creating such a framework is the complex relation between the end-to-end application-level QoS and the corresponding end-to-end resource requirement. Furthermore, the goals of (1) providing the best end-to-end QoS for each distributed service session and (2) increasing the overall reservation success rate of all service sessions are in conflict with each other. In this paper, we present a QoS and contention-aware framework of end-to-end multi-resource reservation for distributed services. The framework assumes a reservation-enabled environment, where each type of resource can be reserved. The framework consists of (1) a component-based QoS-Resource Model, (2) a runtime system architecture for coordinated reservation, and (3) a runtime algorithm for the computation of end-to-end multi-resource reservation plans. The algorithm provides a solution to alleviating the conflict between the QoS of an individual service session and the success rate of all service sessions. More specifically, for each service session, the algorithm computes an end-to-end reservation plan, such that it guarantees the highest possible end-to-end QoS level under the current end-to-end resource availability, and requires the lowest percentage of bottleneck resource(s) among all feasible reservation plans. 重点生态功能区承担着重要的生态系统服务供给功能,农户作为该区主要的经济活动主体,其对环境资源过度依赖会严重影响该区的生态环境质量,从而使生态系统服务功能受损。当前亟需深入探索重点生态功能区农户生计对环境资源的依赖性及其影响因素,为制定环境友好型区域发展政策提供借鉴。本研究以甘南高原为例,基于581份农户调查数据,分析了农户生计对环境资源的依赖度,并利用有序多分类Logistic回归模型识别了影响农户环境资源依赖度的因素。结果表明: 甘南高原农户生计对环境资源的依赖度较高,其主要体现在食物自给、生活用能、收入来源3个方面,依赖度分别为57.3%、56.9%和37.4%;不同类型农户生计对环境资源的依赖性存在显著差异,劳动力受教育水平较高及非农化水平较高的农户,对环境资源的依赖度较低,而抚养比系数较高的农户对环境资源的依赖度较高;家庭抚养比、劳动力受教育水平、家庭成员领导能力、外出打工人数占劳动力比重、生态政策、海拔等因素均对农户的环境资源依赖度有显著影响。其中,家庭抚养比、海拔对其具有正向影响,而外出打工人数占劳动力比重、劳动力受教育水平、家庭成员领导能力、生态政策等因素对其表现为负向影响。  相似文献

One mechanism of regulating V-ATPase activity in vivo involves reversible dissociation into its component V(1) and V(0) domains, which in yeast occurs in response to glucose depletion. V-ATPase complexes containing the Vph1p isoform of subunit a (VCC) are targeted to the vacuole, and Stv1p-containing complexes (SCC) are targeted to the Golgi. Overexpression of Stv1p results in mistargeting of SCC to the vacuole. We have investigated the role of the a subunit isoform and cellular environment in controlling dissociation using vacuolar protein sorting (vps) mutants that accumulate proteins in either the prevacuolar compartment (PVC) (vps27Delta) or a post-Golgi compartment (PGC) (vps21Delta). Dissociation of both VCC and SCC depends upon cellular environment, with dissociation most complete in the vacuole and least complete in the PVC. The dependence of dissociation on V-ATPase activity was also investigated using both concanamycin and inactivating mutations. Concanamycin partly blocks dissociation of both VCC and SCC in all three compartments, with inhibition generally greater for SCC than VCC. The R735Q mutant of Vph1p results in loss of both ATPase and proton transport, whereas the R735K mutant lacks proton transport but has 10% of wild type ATPase activity. For VCC in the vacuole, dissociation is completely blocked for the R735Q but not the R735K mutant. Significant dissociation of VCC is observed for both mutants in the PVC and PGC, indicating that V-ATPase activity is not absolutely required for dissociation. Similar results were obtained for SCC, although dissociation of SCC is again generally more sensitive to activity than VCC. These results suggest that the cellular environment is important both in controlling in vivo dissociation of the V-ATPase and the dependence of this process on catalytic activity. Moreover, catalytic activity is not absolutely required for V-ATPase dissociation.  相似文献

The use of cloud-edge technology creates significant potential for cost reduction, efficiency and resource management. These features have encouraged users and organizations to use intelligence federated cloud-edge paradigm in Internet of Things (IoT). Human Resource Management (HRM) is one of the important challenges in federated cloud-edge computing. Since hardware and software resources in the edge environment are allocated for responding human requests, selecting optimal resources based on Quality of Service (QoS) factors is a critical and important issue in the IoT environments. The HRM can be considered as an NP-problem in a way that with proper selection, allocation and monitoring resource, system efficiency increases and response time decreases. In this study, an optimization model is presented for the HRM problem using Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) in cloud-edge computing. Experimental results show that the proposed model was able to improve minimum response time, cost of allocation and increasing number of allocated human resources in two different scenarios compared to the other meta-heuristic algorithms.

In recent years, cloud computing can be considered an emerging technology that can share resources with users. Because cloud computing is on-demand, efficient use of resources such as memory, processors, bandwidth, etc., is a big challenge. Despite the advantages of cloud computing, sometimes it is not a proper choice due to its delay in responding appropriately to existing requests, which led to the need for another technology called fog computing. Fog computing reduces traffic and time lags by expanding cloud services to the network and closer to users. It can schedule resources with higher efficiency and utilize them to impact the user's experience dramatically. This paper aims to survey some studies that have been done in the field of scheduling in fog/cloud computing environments. The focus of this survey is on published studies between 2015 and 2021 in journals or conferences. We selected 71 studies in a systematic literature review (SLR) from four major scientific databases based on their relation to our paper. We classified these studies into five categories based on their traced parameters and their focus area. This classification comprises 1—performance 2—energy efficiency, 3—resource utilization, 4—performance and energy efficiency, and 5—performance and resource utilization simultaneously. 42.3% of the studies focused on performance, 9.9% on energy efficiency, 7.0% on resource utilization, 21.1% on both performance and energy efficiency, and 19.7% on both performance and resource utilization. Finally, we present challenges and open issues in the resource scheduling methods in fog/cloud computing environments.

One of the most complex issues in the cloud computing environment is the problem of resource allocation so that, on one hand, the cloud provider expects the most profitability and, on the other hand, users also expect to have the best resources at their disposal considering the budget constraints and time. In most previous work conducted, heuristic and evolutionary approaches have been used to solve this problem. Nevertheless, since the nature of this environment is based on economic methods, using such methods can decrease response time and reducing the complexity of the problem. In this paper, an auction-based method is proposed which determines the auction winner by applying game theory mechanism and holding a repetitive game with incomplete information in a non-cooperative environment. In this method, users calculate suitable price bid with their objective function during several round and repetitions and send it to the auctioneer; and the auctioneer chooses the winning player based the suggested utility function. In the proposed method, the end point of the game is the Nash equilibrium point where players are no longer inclined to alter their bid for that resource and the final bid also satisfies the auctioneer’s utility function. To prove the response space convexity, the Lagrange method is used and the proposed model is simulated in the cloudsim and the results are compared with previous work. At the end, it is concluded that this method converges to a response in a shorter time, provides the lowest service level agreement violations and the most utility to the provider.  相似文献

Abstract

The growth of population and income throughout the world has increased the demand for ocean‐based resources. At the same time the rapidly evolving technology of ocean resource exploitation has permitted ever greater use of these resources. As the rate of use of these resources has grown, so has the desirability of better management of them. Today national income accounts provide the basic economic data required to implement policies designed to stabilize and assist in planning for economic growth. It is possible to reconstruct these accounts and create an ocean sector account from them. This process will provide a set of measurements that will permit evaluation of the trade‐offs between alternative uses and the construction of economic models that will link the ocean sector to national economies.  相似文献

Fog-cloud computing is a promising distributed model for hosting ever-increasing Internet of Things (IoT) applications. IoT applications should meet different characteristics such as deadline, frequency rate, and input file size. Fog nodes are heterogeneous, resource-limited devices and cannot accommodate all the IoT applications. Due to these difficulties, designing an efficient algorithm to deploy a set of IoT applications in a fog-cloud environment is very important. In this paper, a fuzzy approach is developed to classify applications based on their characteristics then an efficient heuristic algorithm is proposed to place applications on the virtualized computing resources. The proposed policy aims to provide a high quality of service for IoT users while the profit of fog service providers is maximized by minimizing resource wastage. Extensive simulation experiments are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed policy. Results show that the proposed policy outperforms other approaches by improving the average response time up to 13%, the percentage of deadline satisfied requests up to 12%, and the resource wastage up to 26%.

Cloud computing is a computational model in which resource providers can offer on-demand services to clients in a transparent way. However, to be able to guarantee quality of service without limiting the number of accepted requests, providers must be able to dynamically manage the available resources so that they can be optimized. This dynamic resource management is not a trivial task, since it involves meeting several challenges related to workload modeling, virtualization, performance modeling, deployment and monitoring of applications on virtualized resources. This paper carries out a performance evaluation of a module for resource management in a cloud environment that includes handling available resources during execution time and ensuring the quality of service defined in the service level agreement. An analysis was conducted of different resource configurations to define which dimension of resource scaling has a real influence on client requests. The results were used to model and implement a simulated cloud system, in which the allocated resource can be changed on-the-fly, with a corresponding change in price. In this way, the proposed module seeks to satisfy both the client by ensuring quality of service, and the provider by ensuring the best use of resources at a fair price.  相似文献

基于目前我国矿产资源规划编制过程中的环境评价,提出了一种基于GIS(Geographic Information System)技术,实现矿产资源规划环境影响定量评价方法。在对规划区环境现状进行大尺度综合评价的基础上,利用GIS的空间分析功能,有针对性的实现规划区敏感环境保护目标的筛选、环境影响范围的确定和矿产资源开发对环境保护目标影响程度的定量表达。结合山西省矿产资源规划方案,根据山西省各区域资源开发对敏感保护目标的影响特征,在定量计算各区域环境现状综合评价分级的基础上,分别对其生态环境、水环境、地质环境等方面的影响进行评价和预测,结果显示:山西省矿产资源规划空间布局总体合理,不会对敏感环境保护目标造成严重破坏,但部分矿产资源开采区距离保护目标较近,需要在矿产资源规划实施中加以保护。提出的评价方法较好地兼顾矿产资源开发与区域环境保护,可以有效地提高矿产资源规划环境评价结果的准确性和科学性;该方法可以综合地、定量地评价矿产资源规划对不同环境保护目标的影响程度和范围,为矿产资源规划方案的修订提供有价值的参考。  相似文献

Background: Water resources are of fundamental importance to society, and are better managed by stakeholders who understand resource issues. Gaining such knowledge is a lifelong process best begun at an early age and best supported by educational approaches integrating across science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Research scientists can bring resource education to young audiences through children’s books and curricula that emphasise and integrate across STEM principals.

Aims: To encourage empathy for the environment in younger students, researchers at the Niwot Ridge Long Term Ecological Research site have developed a children’s book series and methods for training teachers in water science education.

Methods: Children’s books in the My Water series are paired with curricula, hands-on learning kits, teacher development training and dissemination of materials through school districts to further water science education.

Results: Thousands of children and educators have received training through the My Water book series, and a more broadly focused, federally funded Schoolyard Children’s Book Series has grown out of these efforts towards water resource education.

Conclusions: Children’s books and curricula that integrate STEM principals can play a key role in the development of environmental empathy and lifelong learning to support resource management.  相似文献

Vibrio cholerae cytolysin (VCC) forms oligomeric transmembrane pores in cholesterol-rich membranes. To better understand this process, we used planar bilayer membranes. In symmetric membranes, the rate of the channel formation by VCC has a superlinear dependency on the cholesterol membrane fraction. Thus, more than one cholesterol molecule can facilitate VCC-pore formation. In asymmetric membranes, the rate of pore formation is limited by the leaflet with the lower cholesterol content. Methyl-beta-cyclodextrin, which removes cholesterol from membranes, rapidly inhibits VCC pore formation, even when it is added to the side opposite that of VCC addition. The results suggest that cholesterol in both membrane leaflets aid VCC-pore formation and that either leaflet can function as a kinetic bottleneck with respect to the rate of pore-formation.  相似文献

Over the last decades, web services are used for performing specific tasks demanded by users. The most important task of service’s classification system is to match an anonymous input service with the stored pre-classified web services. The most challenging issue is that web services are currently organized and classified according to syntax while the context of the requested service is ignored. Due to this motivation, Cloud-based Classification Methodology is proposed as it presents a new methodology based on semantic web service’s classification. Furthermore, cloud computing is used for not only storing but also allocating the high scale of web services with both high availability and accessibility. Fog technology is employed to reduce the latency and to speed up response time. The experimental results using the suggested methodology show a better performance of the proposed system regarding both precision and accuracy in comparison with most of the methods discussed in the literature of the current study.

Vibrio cholerae is the causative agent of cholera in humans. In addition to the critical virulence factors cholera toxin and toxin co-regulated pilus, V. cholerae secretes V. cholerae cytolysin (VCC), a pore-forming exotoxin able to induce cell lysis and extensive vacuolation. We have shown that this vacuolation is related to the activation of autophagy in response to VCC action. Furthermore, we found that the autophagic pathway was required to protect cells upon VCC intoxication. Based on additional data presented here, we propose a model aimed to explain the mechanism of cell protection. We postulate that VCC-induced autophagic vacuoles, which display features of multivesicular bodies and enclose the toxin, are implicated in cell defense through VCC degradation involving fusion with lysosomes.

生态脆弱区约占中国国土面积的60%以上,全球变化和人类活动导致该区域生态系统退化加剧,资源环境承载力降低。准确量化生态脆弱区资源环境承载力对于应对全球变化风险挑战和加快生态文明建设进程具有重要意义。然而,现有的区域资源环境承载力评估方法很难体现生态系统结构、过程和功能变化在资源环境要素与承载力之间的传导作用。因此,构建网络化的野外观测体系以及获取资源环境要素-生态系统结构功能和过程-生态系统承载力变化的综合数据集,是发展资源环境承载力理论和评估方法的必要途径。本文介绍了通量以及无人机协同监测网络,包括思路、实践以及其在生态脆弱区生态系统结构、过程和功能研究中取得的初步成果。同时,基于目前已取得的成果和进展展望了联网协同观测在承载力评估方面的应用。  相似文献

Disease subtype discovery is an essential step in delivering personalized medicine. Disease subtyping via omics data has become a common approach for this purpose. With the advancement of technology and the lower price for generating omics data, multi-level and multi-cohort omics data are prevalent in the public domain, providing unprecedented opportunities to decrypt disease mechanisms. How to fully utilize multi-level/multi-cohort omics data and incorporate established biological knowledge toward disease subtyping remains a challenging problem. In this paper, we propose a meta-analytic integrative sparse Kmeans (MISKmeans) algorithm for integrating multi-cohort/multi-level omics data and prior biological knowledge. Compared with previous methods, MISKmeans shows better clustering accuracy and feature selection relevancy. An efficient R package, “MIS-Kmeans”, calling C++ is freely available on GitHub (https://github.com/Caleb-Huo/MIS-Kmeans).

自然的生态系统目前正受到现代生产方式的严重挑战,其结果造成能源短缺,资源匮乏,环境污染等问题,对人类生存构成危机。人类需要一种遵循地球生态系统规律的,自然与社会环境协调发展的生态化超现代化生产方式。其核心技术是资源生态化利用。对资源生态化系统中宏观的、介观的和微观的化学和生化过程问题进行初步探讨:宏观尺度上的生态平衡、物质与能量的循环转化,介观尺度上物种进化、繁殖与死亡,生物食物铁的形成,微观尺度上生物体内代谢过程中的物质转化与传递等。资源利用生态化的基础是生物加工过程,因此实现资源生态化利用不仅要效法自然的生态系统,还要注重现代工程技术、现代生物技术在生态化系统应用中理论和技术的创新。合理利用生物加工过程可以解决人类面临的资源、能源、环境与健康等重大问题,并实现可持续发展。  相似文献

We synthesize previous theory on ideal free habitat selection to develop a model of predator movement mechanisms, when both predators and prey are mobile. We consider a continuous environment with an arbitrary distribution of resources, randomly diffusing prey that consume the resources, and predators that consume the prey. Our model introduces a very general class of movement rules in which the overall direction of a predator's movement is determined by a variable combination of (i) random diffusion, (ii) movement in the direction of higher prey density, and/or (iii) movement in the direction of higher density of the prey's resource. With this model, we apply an adaptive dynamics approach to two main questions. First, can it be adaptive for predators to base their movement solely on the density of the prey's resource (which the predators do not consume)? Second, should predator movements be exclusively biased toward higher densities of prey/resources, or is there an optimal balance between random and biased movements? We find that, for some resource distributions, predators that track the gradient of the prey's resource have an advantage compared to predators that track the gradient of prey directly. Additionally, we show that matching (consumers distributed in proportion to resources), overmatching (consumers strongly aggregated in areas of high resource density), and undermatching (consumers distributed more uniformly than resources) distributions can all be explained by the same general habitat selection mechanism. Our results provide important groundwork for future investigations of predator-prey dynamics.  相似文献

Vibrio cholerae cytolysin (VCC) is a water-soluble, membrane-damaging, pore-forming toxin (PFT) secreted by pathogenic V. cholerae, which causes eukaryotic cell death by altering the plasma membrane permeability. VCC self-assembles on the cell surface and undergoes a dramatic conformational change from prepore to heptameric pore structure. Over the past few years, several high-resolution structures of detergent-solubilized PFTs have been characterized. However, high-resolution structural characterization of small β-PFTs in a lipid environment is still rare. Therefore, we used single-particle cryo-EM to characterize the structure of the VCC oligomer in large unilamellar vesicles, which is the first atomic-resolution cryo-EM structure of VCC. From our study, we were able to provide the first documented visualization of the rim domain amino acid residues of VCC interacting with lipid membrane. Furthermore, cryo-EM characterization of lipid bilayer–embedded VCC suggests interesting conformational variabilities, especially in the transmembrane channel, which could have a potential impact on the pore architecture and assist us in understanding the pore formation mechanism.  相似文献

A considerable amount of research has claimed that animals’ foraging behaviors display movement lengths with power-law distributed tails, characteristic of Lévy flights and Lévy walks. Though these claims have recently come into question, the proposal that many animals forage using Lévy processes nonetheless remains. A Lévy process does not consider when or where resources are encountered, and samples movement lengths independently of past experience. However, Lévy processes too have come into question based on the observation that in patchy resource environments resource-sensitive foraging strategies, like area-restricted search, perform better than Lévy flights yet can still generate heavy-tailed distributions of movement lengths. To investigate these questions further, we tracked humans as they searched for hidden resources in an open-field virtual environment, with either patchy or dispersed resource distributions. Supporting previous research, for both conditions logarithmic binning methods were consistent with Lévy flights and rank-frequency methods–comparing alternative distributions using maximum likelihood methods–showed the strongest support for bounded power-law distributions (truncated Lévy flights). However, goodness-of-fit tests found that even bounded power-law distributions only accurately characterized movement behavior for 4 (out of 32) participants. Moreover, paths in the patchy environment (but not the dispersed environment) showed a transition to intensive search following resource encounters, characteristic of area-restricted search. Transferring paths between environments revealed that paths generated in the patchy environment were adapted to that environment. Our results suggest that though power-law distributions do not accurately reflect human search, Lévy processes may still describe movement in dispersed environments, but not in patchy environments–where search was area-restricted. Furthermore, our results indicate that search strategies cannot be inferred without knowing how organisms respond to resources–as both patched and dispersed conditions led to similar Lévy-like movement distributions.  相似文献
