An ‘alternating solution’ culture method was used to study the effects of chloride ions and humic acid (HA) on the uptake of cadmium by barley plants. The plants were transferred periodically between a nutrient solution and a test solution containing one of four levels of HA (0, 190, 569 or 1710 μg cm−3) and one of five levels of Cd (0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.5 or 5.0 μg cm−3) in either a 0.006M NaNO3 or 0.006M NaCl medium. Harvest and analysis of shoots and roots was after nineteen days. The distribution of Cd in the test solutions between Cd2+, CdCl+ and HA-Cd was determined in a separate experiment by dialysis equilibrium. In the nitrate test solutions Cd uptake was clearly controlled by Cd2+ concentration and was therefore reduced by HA complex formation. In the absence of HA, chloride suppressed Cd uptake indicating that Cd2+ was the preferred species. However complex formation with Cl enhanced uptake when HA was present because of an increase in the concentration of inorganic Cd species relative to the nitrate system. The ratio root-Cd/shoot-Cd remained at about 10 across a wide range of shoot-Cd concentrations, from about 3 μg g−1 (sub-toxic) up to 85 μg g−1 (80% yield reduction). The ability of the barley plants to accumulate ‘non-toxic’ Cd in their roots was thus very limited. Humic acid also had no effect on Cd translocation within the plant and the root/shoot weight ratio did not vary with any treatment. At shoot-Cd concentrations in excess of 50 μg g−1, K, Ca, Cu and Zn uptake was reduced, probably the result of root damage rather than a specific ion antagonism. The highest concentration of HA also lowered Fe and Zn uptake and there was a toxic effect with increasing HA concentration at Cd=0. However the lowest HA level, comparable with concentrations found in mineral soil solutions, only reduced yield (in the absence of Cd) by <5% while lowering Cd uptake across the range of Cd concentrations by 66%–25%.  相似文献

Rice seedlings were grown in hydroponic culture to determine the effects of external Zn and P supply on plant uptake of Cd in the presence or absence of iron plaque on the root surfaces. Iron plaque was induced by supplying 50 mg l−1 Fe2+ in the nutrient solution for 2 day. Then 43-day-old seedlings were exposed to 10 μmol l−1 Cd together with 10 μmol l−1 Zn or without Zn (Zn–Cd experiment), or to 10 μmol l−1 Cd with 1.0 mmol l−1 P or without P (P–Cd experiment) for another 2 day. The seedlings were then harvested and the concentrations of Fe, Zn, P and Cd in dithionite–citrate–bicarbonate (DCB) extracts and in roots and shoots were determined. The dry weights of roots and shoots of seedlings treated with 50 mg l−1 Fe were significantly lower than when no Fe was supplied. Adsorption of Cd, Zn and P on the iron plaque increased when Fe was supplied but Cd concentrations in DCB extracts were unaffected by external Zn or P supply levels. Cd concentrations in shoots and roots were lower when Fe was supplied. Zn additions decreased Cd concentrations in roots but increased Cd concentrations in shoots, whereas P additions significantly increased shoot and root Cd concentrations and this effect diminished when Fe was supplied. The percentage of Cd in DCB extracts was significantly lower than in roots or shoots, accounting for up to 1.8–3.8% of the plant total Cd, while root and shoot Cd were within the ranges 57–76% and 21–40% respectively in the two experiments. Thus, the main barrier to Cd uptake seemed to be the root tissue and the contribution of iron plaque on root surfaces to plant Cd uptake was minor. The changes in plant Cd uptake were not due to Zn or P additions altering Cd adsorption on iron plaque, but more likely because Zn or P interfered with Cd uptake by the roots and translocation to the shoots.  相似文献

The effect of sodium and calcium on the translocation of 14C-sucrose in excised cotton roots (Gossypium birsutum) was studied. The roots were allowed to elongate in a modified Guinn's medium that was very low in calcium (6.25 × 10?2 mM) and sodium (8.70 × 10?3 mM). After a period of six days the roots were transferred to 20 × 100 mm Petri dishes that contained 10 × 40 mm Petri dishes as center wells. The roots were draped over the edge of the center well and extended into the outer dish. The outer Petri dish and its center well contained the same solution except that sucrose was supplied only in the center well. The sucrose used was spiked with uniformally labeled 14C-sucrose. Four treatments were started which varied in their Na and Ca content. Three and six day harvests were taken and the amount of 14C that had moved from the distal (in the center well) to the apical root section (in the outer dish) was determined. Increasing substrate Na or Ca caused an increase in 14C-sucrose translocation and the effects of both ions were additive by the final harvest. These results were found to be independent of treatment effects on growth and respiration of the excised roots. These data support the conclusion that Na may partially substitute for Ca in carbohydrate translocation. Thus, roots supplied the Low Ca-High Na and High Ca-Low Na treatments had equal translocation rates over a six day period. The highest translocation rate was obtained with the High Ca-High Na treatment. Data from the High Ca-High Na treatment on two successive three day periods indicate that Na may have a role in translocation other than that associated with substitution for Ca, or maintenance of tissue hydration.  相似文献

Effects of zinc (12–180 μM) alone and in mixtures with 12 μM Cd on metal accumulation, dry masses of roots and shoots, root respiration rate, variable to maximum fluorescence ratio (FV/FM), and content of photosynthetic pigments were studied in hydroponically cultivated chamomile (Matricaria recutita) plants. The content of Zn in roots and shoots increased with the increasing external Zn concentration and its accumulation in the roots was higher than that in the shoots. While at lower Zn concentrations (12 and 60 μM) the presence of 12 μM Cd decreased Zn accumulation in the roots, treatment with 120 and 180 μM Zn together with 12 μM Cd caused enhancement of Zn content in the root. Presence of Zn (12–120 μM) decreased Cd accumulation in roots. On the other hand, Cd content in the shoots of plants treated with Zn + Cd exceeded that in the plants treated only with 12 μM Cd. Only higher Zn concentrations (120 and 180 μM) and Zn + Cd mixtures negatively influenced dry mass, chlorophyll (Chl) and carotenoid content, FV/FM and root respiration rate. Chl b was reduced to a higher extent than Chl a.  相似文献

Summary Sorghum plants were grown in the greenhouse in modified Steinberg nutrient solution containing ten Al rates (0 to 297 μM) and harvested 28 days after transplanting. Top and root dry weight were not affected by added Al up to 74 μM; but decreased sharply at concentration of 148 μM and greater. Aluminum concentrations in blade 1 (recently matured blade) and plants remained constant from 0 to 297 μM added Al. Root Al concentration increased as added Al increased. No correlation existed between top dry weight and Al concentration in blade 1 or in plant. Root Al concentration was related to top dry weight and root dry weight to estimate the Al critical toxicity level. The Al critical toxicity levle in the root was 54 mmol kg−1 root dry weight basis for either top or root dry weight. In blade 1 Cu concentration negatively correlated with Al while Fe and P were positively correlated. In roots Ca, Mg, Mn and Fe concentrations were negatively correlated with Al while Zn, Cu, P, and K were positively correlated with Al concentration.  相似文献

The lelvels of seven heavy metals and their toxicity towardGanoderma lucidum under various cultivation conditions were assessed. The contents of Mn, Cu, Zn, Cd, Hg, Pb and U in the fruitbodies of cultivatedG. lucidum, and sawdust substrates were determined to be at trace levels for U, 0.01–0.1 μg/g for Cd and Hg, and 1–5 μg/g for Pb, 10–120 μg/g for Mn, Cu and Zn. The effects of heavy metals, on the growth of mycelia ofG. lucidium in pure cultures were examined over a wide range of concentrations (10–3,000 μg/ml), and their toxicities were found to decrease in the order: Hg>Cd>Cu>U>Pb>Mn=Zn. The translocation and accumulation of Zn from contaminated substrates (at 10 μg/g) in fruitbodies were investigated by using65Zn tracer, andG. lucidum was found to take up Zn with an efficiency of >60%, leading to accumulation of >100 μ/g, in fruitbodies and >80 μ/g Zn in basidiospores.  相似文献

Cd accumulation in durum wheat presents a potential health risk to consumers. In an effort to understand the physiological mechanisms involved with Cd accumulation, this study examined the effects of Zn on Cd root uptake and phloem translocation in a split– root system. Durum wheat seedlings were grown in chelate-buffered nutrient solution with intact root systems divided into two sections. Each root section grew in a separate 1 l pot, one of which contained 0.2 μM CdSO4. In addition, each two-pot system contained ZnSO4 in the following combinations (in μm) (for -cd root system: +cd root system): 1:1, 1:10, 10:1,10:10, 1:19, and 19:1. Harvested plant material was analyzed for Cd and Zn. In addition, rates of Cd and Zn net uptake, translocation to the shoot, and root export (translocation from one root segment to the other) between days 8 and 22 were calculated. Results show that Zn was not translocated from one root section to its connected root section. Uptake rates of Cd increased as solution Zn concentrations increased. Cd translocation from one root section to the other decreased significantly when the Zn concentration in either pot was greater than 1 μM. These results show the potential of Zn to inhibit movement of Cd via the phloem, and suggests that providing adequate Zn levels may limit phloem loading of Cd into wheat grain. Increasing the rhizosphere activity of Zn2+ in Cd-containing soils may therefore result in reduced Cd accumulation in grain even while net Cd uptake is slightly enhanced. Summary The uptake and distribution of iron and manganese were studied in a manganese-sensitive soybean cultivar (‘Bragg’) grown over a range of supply levels of these nutrients in solution culture. At high (90 and 275 μM) manganese levels, increasing the iron concentration in solution from 2 to 100 μM partially overcame the effects of manganese toxicity. Interactions between manganese and iron occurred for dry matter yields, rate of Mn absorption by the roots, and the proportions of manganese and iron transported to the tops. No interaction was observed for the rate of root absorption of iron. The percentage distribution of manganese in the plant top increased with increasing iron, despite a reduced rate of Mn uptake. On the other hand, iron uptake was independent of solution Mn concentration and increased with increasing solution Fe. Also more iron was retained in the roots at high Mn and/or Fe levels in solution. Concentrations of manganese and iron in roots, stems and individual leaves were affected independently by the manganese and iron supplyi.e. without any interaction occurring between the two elements. In general, the concentration in a plant part was related directly to the solution concentration. Symptoms resembling iron deficiency correlated poorly with leaf Fe concentrations whereas high levels of manganese were found in leaves displaying Mn toxicity symptoms.  相似文献

PAF-acether is a phospholipid synthesized by most animal tissues and exerting a strong decrease on the heart’s contractile force and coronary flow. PAF-acether (10−9 and 10−10 M) was administered to isolated guinea pig hearts perfused via the Langendorff apparatus with Chenoweth solution. Zinc (1.5 μM) is known to benefit heart function thus, Zn2+ (1.5, 7.5, and 30 μM) was added in the perfusing solution before or after PAF-acether administration. Contractile force, coronary flow, and heart rate were recorded by means of a Narco MK-IV Physiograph throughout all modes of perfusion. Calcium inhibitor (Verapamil 10−10 M) and Pb2+ Co2+ (1.5×10−6 M) were used subsequently in the perfusing solutions in order to elucidate some of the Zn and PAF interactions observed. All hearts were analyzed for their Zn and Ca content by means of an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). Our data suggest that low concentrations of zinc (1.5 μM) can strongly inhibit PAF-induced decrease of contractile force and coronary flow. Zinc-inhibiting effects on PAF's negative inotropic action (myocytic level) is not exerted through Zn−Ca antagonism. Nevertheless, a Zn−Ca antagonism in the arteriolar level cannot be excluded. Zinc inhibits PAF selectively only if it is administered before PAF injection and this strongly suggests a receptor interaction between the metal and the phospholipid at the heart level.

Summary Effect of manganese on absorption and translocation of zinc by rice seedlings was studied in a nutrient solution using radioactive zinc (Zn65). With increase in manganese application, zinc uptake decreased in roots, but increased in shoots with an application upto 10 M manganese. Reduction in zinc absorption was more at low rates of zinc application. However, translocation of zinc from roots to shoots increased with manganese application upto 20 M but the increase was more pronounced with an application of 2M zinc only.  相似文献

The aluminium (Al) tolerance of 34 temperate legume species (143 genotypes, including 57 from Trifolium repens) was determined in 60 experiments over a 3 year period in a low ionic strength (2.7 × 10-3 M) solution culture. For each genotype, the relationship between solution Al3+ activity (M) and relative yield was determined and the Al3+ activity associated with a 50% reduction in yield (AlRY50) calculated. In addition, plant chemical concentrations were determined in at least one genotype from most species. For white clover, AlRY50 over all genotypes had an approximately normal distribution with mean of 1.31 M for the tops and 1.51 M for the roots, and a standard deviation of about 0.4. This suggested that Al tolerance had a polygenic inheritance. For the other species tested, AlRY50 ranged from 0.15 to 4.53 M in the tops and from 0.21 to 4.89 M in the roots. In the tops and roots, 37% and 26% respectively of the genotypes had an AlRY50 less than 1 M, including all species tested in the genera Melilotus and Medicago. Only 8% or 23% of the genotypes, based on the tops and roots respectively, had an AlRY50 greater than 2, including all genotypes in the species Lotus pedunculatus. Except for Lotus, there were no consistent differences between genera in plant chemical concentrations. In Lotus, concentrations of Ca, Zn, Mn and Cu in the tops and of all elements except B in the roots were lower than that of the other species. The AlRY50 of the species was not related to plant chemical concentrations in the absence of Al. Depending on the plant element, increasing solution Al concentrations had no significant effect on plant chemical concentrations for 56–94% of the species. When a significant effect did occur, increasing Al in solution generally decreased S and K concentrations and increased Mn, Zn, Cu Fe, B and Al concentrations in the tops and roots and decreased Ca concentrations in the tops. Plant P concentrations decreased in the tops but increased in the roots. Increasing Al in solution increase plant Al at the average rate of 44 g g-1 M -1 (range 20–87) in the tops and 333 g M -1 (range 162–616) in the roots.  相似文献

Cadmium (Cd) originating from atmospheric deposits, from industrial residues and from the application of phosphate fertilizers may accumulate in high concentrations in soil, water and food, thus becoming highly toxic to plants, animals and human beings. Once accumulated in an organism, Cd discharges and sets off a sequence of biochemical reactions and morphophysiological changes which may cause cell death in several tissues and organs. In order to test the hypothesis that Cd interferes in the metabolism of G. americana, a greenhouse experiment was conducted to measure eventual morphophysiological responses and cell death induced by Cd in this species. The plants were exposed to Cd concentrations ranging from 0 to 16 mg l−1, in a nutritive solution. In TUNEL reaction, it was shown that Cd caused morphological changes in the cell nucleus of root tip and leaf tissues, which are typical for apoptosis. Cadmium induced anatomical changes in roots and leaves, such as the lignification of cell walls in root tissues and leaf main vein. In addition, the leaf mesophyll showed increase of the intercellular spaces. On the other hand, Cd caused reductions in the net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance and leaf transpiration, while the maximum potential quantum efficiency of PS2 (Fv/Fm) was unchanged. Cadmium accumulated in the root system in high concentrations, with low translocation for the shoot, and promoted an increase of Ca and Zn levels in the roots and a decrease of K level in the leaves. High concentrations of Cd promoted morphophysiological changes and caused cell death in roots and leaves tissues of G. americana.  相似文献

Summary The effects of aluminium (Al3+) at concentrations of 0, 25, 50 and 100 μM on the growth of white clover, dependent upon N supplied as NO 3 , were examined in flowing solution culture. Plants were established with a normal nutrient supply for 7 weeks and then grown with carefully controlled pH (at 4.5) and P concentrations, and with 0, 25, 50 or 100 μM Al3+ for a further three weeks. There were rapid visual effects (i.e. symptoms of P deficiency and reduction in root extension) and the dry weights of shoots and roots were reduced at 50 and 100 μM. Less than 10% of Al absorbed from solution was transported to the shoots. The uptake of P, and its transport between roots and shoots, were reduced in plants grown with Al. The uptake of NO 3 stopped immediately after the introduction of 50 or 100 μM Al, and was significantly reduced at 25 μM after three weeks. During a second phase of the experiment, plants previously grown at 0, 25, 50 and 100 μM Al, were grown for a further 2 weeks either with NO 3 (with and without 50 μM Al3+) or without NO 3 but with inoculation by Rhizobia (and with or without 50 μM Al3+). The effects of the previous treatments with Al on N uptake were small during the second phase, but uptake by all plants was restricted when Al was present. Inoculation did not result in nodulation in the second phase when Al3+ was present in the solution, but Al already in the plant from the first phase did not prevent nodulation in the absence of Al during the second phase.  相似文献

Aluminum effects on the morphological development of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) were characterized in greenhouse and growth chamber experiments. An Al-sensitive cultivar, ‘Ransom’, was grown in an acid soil (Aeric Paleudult) adjusted to 3 levels of exchangeable Al. Lateral shoot development at the nodes of the main stem was extensive in the limed soil containing 0.06 cmol(+) Alkg−1. However, lateral shoot length and weight were severely inhibited in the unlimed soil containing 2.19 cmol(+) Alkg−1, and in the unlimed soil amended to 2.63 cmol(+) Alkg−1 with AlCl3. This inhibition by the high Al/low pH condition was reversed by the exogenous application of a synthetic cytokinin 6-benzylaminopurine (BA). The daily application of 20 μg mL−1 BA applied locally to the lateral meristems of plants grown in the unlimed soil stimulated lateral shoot growth substantially, such that it was either comparable to or greater than that observed in the limed treatment without BA. Accumulation of K, Ca, and Mg in lateral shoot branches was also stimulated by the local application of BA. The inhibitory effects of Al on lateral shoot development were confirmed in solution culture. In addition, differential sensitivity to Al was evident among the primary root, first order lateral roots, and second order lateral roots. The length of the primary root was only slightly decreased by increasing concentrations of Al up to 30 μM. In contrast, the length of basipetally located first order lateral roots was restricted to greater extent; up to 50% by 30 μM Al. Second order lateral lengths were inhibited even more severely; up to 86% by 30 μM Al. Substantial evidence in the literature indicates that the root apex is a major site for the biosynthesis of cytokinin that is supplied to shoots, and cellular function and development in this region of the root are impaired during Al toxic conditions. This suggests that one mode of action by which Al may affect shoot growth is by inhibiting the synthesis and subsequent translocation of cytokinin to the meristematic regions of the shoot. The present observation of a reversal of Al-inhibited lateral shoot development by exogenously applied cytokinin supports this hypothesis. However, the inability of applied cytokinin to counter the restriction imposed by Al on total shoot dry matter production implies the impairment by Al toxicity of other root functions, such as ion and water transport, also played an important role in altering shoot morphology.  相似文献

Studies with sterile root materials showed that the optimum pH values of phosphatase activity in three varieties of each of corn (Zea mays L.) and soybean (Glycine max. L.) were 4 and 5, respectively. The activity on either side of the optimum pH fell sharply, and there was no activity at pH 9. Thus, these roots contain acid but no alkaline phosphatase activity. Acid phosphatase activity was not uniformly distributed in roots and root hairs. Studies with 20 metals showed that their effectiveness in inhibiting acid phosphatase activity of roots varied with the type of plant used. When the metals were compared at 250 μM (1.25 μmole. 5 mg−1 of homogenized roots), the inhibition of acid phosphatase of corn and soybean roots showed that Ag(I), Fe(III), Se(IV), V(IV), As(V) and Mo(VI) were the most effective inhibitors of this enzyme in corn roots, with percentage inhibition ≥30%. In addition to these metals, Sn(II), Hg(II), and W(VI) inhibited acid phosphatase in soybean roots by >30%. Other metals and one non-metallic element that inhibited acid phosphatase activity in corn and soybean roots were: Cu(I), Cu(II), Cd(II), Ni(II), Fe(II), Pb(II), Ba(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), B(III), As(III), Cr(III), and Al(III); their degrees of effectiveness varied with type of roots used. Generally, the inhibitory effect of the metals was much less when their concentration was decreased by 10-fold. In addition to the effect of these elements, phosphate ion inhibited acid phosphatase activity of corn and soybean roots. Related anions such as NO 2 , NO 3 , Cl, and SO 4 2− were not inhibitory.  相似文献

Pinus sylvestris seedlings infected with either the ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungus Paxillus involutus or Suillus variegatus were exposed to a range of Cd or Zn concentrations. This was done to investigate the relationship between the sensitivity of ECM fungi and their host plants over a wide range of concentrations. P. involutus ameliorated the toxicity of Cd and Zn to P. sylvestris with respect to root length, despite significant inhibition of ECM infection levels by Cd (Cd EC50 [effective concentration which inhibits ECM infection by 50%] values were: P. involutus 3.7 μg g-1 Cd; S. variegatus 2.3 μg g-1 Cd). ECM infection by P. involutus also decreased Cd and Zn transport to the plant shoots at potentially toxic concentrations and also influenced the proportion of Zn transported to the roots and shoots, with a higher proportion retained in the roots of the seedlings. ECM infection did increase host biomass production, but this was not affected by the presence of Cd or Zn. Root and shoot biomass production by P. sylvestris, in both the presence and absence of ECM fungi, was unaffected by Cd and Zn at all concentrations tested. The purpose of the study was to determine the concentration of trace elements present in scalp hair sample of schizophrenic patients and to find out the relationship between trace elements level and nutritional status or socioeconomic factors. The study was conducted among 30 schizophrenic male patients and 30 healthy male volunteers. Patients were recruited from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University by random sampling. Hair trace element concentrations were determined by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy and analyzed by independent t test, Pearson’s correlation analysis, regression analysis, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Mn, Zn, Ca, Cu, and Cd concentrations of schizophrenic patients were 3.8 ± 2.31 μg/gm, 171.6 ± 59.04 μg/gm, 396.23 ± 157.83 μg/gm, 15.40 ± 5.68 μg/gm, and 1.14 ± 0.89 μg/gm of hair sample, while those of control subjects were 4.4 ± 2.32 μg/gm, 199.16 ± 27.85 μg/gm, 620.9 ± 181.55 μg/gm, 12.23 ± 4.56 μg/gm, and 0.47 ± 0.32 μg/gm of hair sample, respectively. The hair concentration of Zn and Ca decreased significantly (p = 0.024; p = 0.000, respectively) and the concentration of Cu and Cd increased significantly (p = 0.021; p = 0.000, respectively) in schizophrenic patients while the concentration of Mn (p = 0.321) remain unchanged. Socioeconomic data reveals that most of the patients were poor, middle-aged and divorced. Mean body mass indices (BMIs) of the control group (22.26 ± 1.91 kg/m2) and the patient group (20.42 ± 3.16 kg/m2) were within the normal range (18.5−25.0 kg/m2). Pearson’s correlation analysis suggested that only Ca concentration of patients had a significant positive correlation with the BMI (r = 0.597; p = 0.000) which was further justified from the regression analysis (R 2 = 44%; t = 3.59; p = 0.002) and one-way ANOVA test (F = 3.62; p = 0.015). A significant decrease in the hair concentration of Zn and Ca as well as a significant increase in the hair concentration of Cu and Cd in schizophrenic patients than that of its control group was observed which may provide prognostic tool for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. However, further work with larger population is suggested to examine the exact correlation between trace element level and the degree of disorder.  相似文献

Eighteen metals were estimated in the scalp hair samples from cancer patients (n = 111) and normal donors (n = 113). Nitric acid–perchloric acid wet digestion procedure was used for the quantification of the selected metals by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry. In the scalp hair of cancer patients, highest average levels were found for Ca (861 μg/g), followed by Na (672 μg/g), Zn (411 μg/g), Mg (348 μg/g), Fe (154 μg/g), Sr (129 μg/g), and K (116 μg/g), whereas in comparison, the dominant metals in the scalp hair of normal donors were Ca (568 μg/g), Zn (177 μg/g), Mg (154 μg/g), Fe (110 μg/g), and Na (103 μg/g). The concentrations of Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sr, and Zn were notably higher in the hair of cancer patients as compared with normal donors, which may lead to a number of physiological disorders. Strong positive correlations were found in Mn–Pb (0.83), Cd–Cr (0.82), Cd–Li (0.57), Fe–Pb (0.56), and Fe–Mn (0.55) in the hair of cancer patients whereas Na–Cd, Li–Cr, Li–Co, Co–Cd, Li–Cd, Na–Co, Na–Li, Ca–Mg and Na–Cr exhibited strong relationships (r > 0.50) in the hair of normal donors. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) of the data revealed seven PCs, both for cancer patients and normal donors, but with significantly different loadings. Cluster Analysis (CA) was also used to support the PCA results. The study evidenced significantly different pattern of metal distribution in the hair of cancer patients in comparison with normal donors. The role of trace metals in carcinogenesis was also discussed.  相似文献
