Searching capacity is of great importance in the efficiency of natural enemies. In this research, the host-stage preference and functional response of Diaeretiella rapae (McIntosh) to different densities of greenbug, Schizaphis graminum (Rondani) were determined on Pishtaz wheat leaves at 25 ± 1°C, 60–70% relative humidity, and a photoperiod of 16:8 h (L:D). The host-stage preference was investigated by exposing 60 number of all nymphal instars and adults of greenbug to individual parasitoid females at eight replicates. Results indicated significant preference of D. rapae to second instar nymphs of S. graminum to perform functional response experiment. Densities of 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 50, 64, 90 and 130 second instar nymphs of greenbugs were exposed to individual mated female wasps at 10 replicates for 24 h. Type of functional response was determined by logistic regression and its parameters, searching efficiency (a) and handling time (T h), were estimated by non linear regression. The results indicated that the functional response of D. rapae was type III and values of searching efficiency, handling time and maximum rate of parasitism were calculated by two models as 0.1364 ± 0.084, 0.5761 ± 0.0179, 41.6594; 0.06489 ± 0.00652 (h?1), 0.5628 ± 0.0173 (h) and 42.6439 (aphids/parasitoid/day), respectively.  相似文献

Efficacy of Diaeretiella rapae (McIntosh) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) was determined by studying its biological and behavioural attributes on the aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) (Hemiptera: Aphididae). Total developmental duration of the parasitoid was longer in younger instars compared to that in older instars of aphid. Host age negatively affected the oviposition period and fecundity of the ovipositing parasitoid. Survival of the immatures was higher in older than the younger instars of the aphid. Sex ratio for the parasitoid was female-biased. Longevity of female parasitoid was higher while parasitizing aphid nymphs of younger age groups (1–2 days old) compared to that of older age groups (4–5 days old). Parasitoid showed a higher preference towards second instar of M. persicae both in choice and no-choice tests. Results on mutual interference revealed that per capita searching efficiency decreased from 0.91 to 0.07 as parasitoid densities increased from 1 to 8. Logistic regression exhibited a type II functional response for D. rapae. The estimated values of search-efficiency (a) and handling time (Th) were 0.038 h−1 and 1.59 h, respectively. The maximum parasitization rate was 15.08. This investigation suggests that D. rapae could be an effective candidate for augmentative biological control of M. persicae which infests several plant species of economic importance.  相似文献

Russian wheat aphid,Diuraphis noxia(Mordvilko), as a pest of small grains, has prompted research into biological control and host plant resistance. In the presence of Russian wheat aphid, leaves of a susceptible barley (Morex) are curled and chlorotic and sustain large densities of this aphid, while leaves of a resistant barley (STARS-9301B) remain flat and green and sustain fewer aphids. Might parasitism of Russian wheat aphid byAphelinus albipodusHayat & Fatima andDiaeretiella rapaeMcIntosh be affected differently by these plant types? When presented the plants separately and based on parasitism rate relative to aphid density, the largerD. rapaewas more effective in parasitizing relatively high densities of aphids within curled leaves of Morex than relatively low densities of aphids on uncurled leaves of STARS-9301B. Parasitism byA. albipodusdid not significantly differ among the plants. When given a choice of plants, approximately equal rates of parasitism occurred on the two plant lines for both parasitoid species, and parasitism byD. rapaewas greater thanA. albipodus. These data indicate that using parasitoid size as an indicator of success in a physically restricted environment may be misleading, when considered in a plant environment responsive in several manners to aphids (chlorosis, curling, and ability to sustain Russian wheat aphid). We expect that use of resistant barley will result in decreased parasitoid abundance as aphid densities decrease. However, parasitism rates are expected to be approximately equal on resistant and susceptible barley. In this system, plant resistance and biocontrol are compatible management strategies.  相似文献

The greenbug, Schizaphis graminum (Rondani) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) has been known as a major pest of small grains, particularly wheat, worldwide. In this study, the effect of new wheat cultivar (Pishgam) for cold regions on biological characteristics of greenbug was investigated in a greenhouse at 25 ± 2 °C, 55 ± 10% relative humidity and a photoperiod of 16:8 h (L:D). The raw data were analysed based on the age-stage, two-sex life table. The intrinsic rate of increase (r), the finite rate of increase (λ), the net reproduction rate (R0) and the mean generation time (T) of greenbug were 0.313 ± 0.0019, 1.36 ± 0.0027 females/female/day, 83.33 ± 0.331 females/female and 14.11 ± 0.09 days, respectively. The life expectancy of a nymph is 43.57 days. The maximum reproductive value of females is on the 16th day which coincides with the total pre-reproduction period counted from birth. Hence, the present results may provide helpful information for comprehensive IPM programme of greenbug on this variety in cold regions of Iran. Result revealed that nymphal survival rate of the aphid was 100% on studied cultivar like that on sensitive host plant cultivar.  相似文献

Biological control agents can be used as a complementary control measure that can be combined with resistant host plants to control pests. In this study, the effects of different canola cultivars (Karaj-1, Karaj-2, Karaj-3, Licord, Okapi, Opera, RGS003, Sarigol, Talaye and Zarfam) on the performance and life table parameters of the cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae, and its parasitoid, Diaeretiella rapae, were determined under laboratory conditions. Total fecundity of the cabbage aphid differed with cultivar, with the highest value (59.41 nymphs per female) of this parameter observed on Opera and the lowest (1.67) observed on RGS003. The highest and lowest intrinsic rates of increase (r) of the cabbage aphid were observed on Opera (0.331 day?1) and RGS003 (? 0.242 day?1) cultivars, respectively, suggesting these to be the most susceptible and most resistant cultivars to this pest. However, because the aphid did not settle and feed well on RGS003, it was not possible to determine demographic parameters for its parasitoid. Consequently, the Okapi cultivar, which was the most resistant cultivar to the cabbage aphid after RGS003, was used in this study to assess the parasitoid wasp. The parasitoid’s intrinsic rate of increase (r) varied from 0.426 day?1 on the susceptible cultivar (Opera) to 0.341 day?1 on the resistant canola cultivar Okapi. Aphid performance decreased 93% on the resistant canola cultivar, while parasitoid performance decreased only 20% on the resistant cultivar compared to more susceptible cultivar.  相似文献

Different cultivars of aplant species can affect the foraging and efficiency of natural enemies, both directly through physical and biochemical properties or indirectly through the herbivore's diet. In this study, the parasitism capacity and functional response of Diaeretiella rapae McIntosh were determined on the cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae (L.) reared on susceptible (Opera) and resistant (Okapi) canola cultivars under laboratory conditions at 25?±?1?°C, 60?±?5% RH and a16:8?h L:D photoperiod. The parasitoid exhibited Type II and Type III functional responses on the resistant and susceptible cultivars, respectively. The estimated value of searching efficiency (a) was 0.1637?±?0.1095?h?1 on the resistant cultivar whereas its value was dependent on host density on the susceptible cultivar. The handling times (Th) on the susceptible and resistant canola cultivars were 0.108?±?0.040 and 0.320?±?0.048?h, respectively. The net parasitism rate (C0) of the parasitoid wasp varied from 128.09 hosts per parasitoid lifetime on the susceptible to 71.01hosts on the resistant canola cultivar. The transformation rate from host population to parasitoid offspring (Qp) was equal to 1 on both cultivars (C0?=?R0). The finite parasitism rate (ω) on the susceptible cultivar (0.819 hosts per parasitoid per day) was significantly higher than that on the resistant one (0.578 hosts per parasitoid per day). In conclusion, canola cultivars affected the performance of D. rapae in controlled small-scale laboratory experiments and compared with the susceptible cultivar, the resistant one had anadverseeffect on the efficiency of the parasitoid.  相似文献

This study was performed to investigate the age-dependent functional response of Aphidius matricariae Haliday (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) at varying densities of tobacco aphid, Myzus persicae nicotianae Blackman (Hemiptera: Aphididae). Six densities (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 numbers) of third instar nymphs of M. persicae nicotianae were daily exposed to one pair of 1-day-old A. matricariae until the parasitoid female died. Each host aphid density was replicated 10 times. The experiments were conducted at constant environmental conditions (25 ± 1 °C, 70 ± 5% RH and 16:8h L:D photoperiod). The logistic regression model demonstrated that the functional response of A. matricariae was type III in the second day and type II in the first day and from third to the end of adult parasitoid lifetime. The handling time (Th) was lowest in the first day (0.2305 h) and highest in the sixth day (2.9296 h) of the parasitoid’s life. The searching efficiency (a) values were 0.0573, 0.0649, 0.0503, 0.0229, and 0.0077 h?1 in the first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth days of the parasitoid’s life, respectively. Also, the b value for type III functional response was 0.0147 in the second day. The values of maximum attack rate (T/Th) ranged from 104.12 nymphs/24 h in the first day to 19.8 nymphs/24 h in the sixth day of parasitoid’s life. Based on the results, A. matricariae showed a high potential to control the population of tobacco aphid and the highest efficiency gained in the first half of the female parasitoid life.  相似文献

We evaluated the effects of constant low-temperature storage on Diaeretiella rapae (McIntosh) (Braconidae, Aphidiinae). Diaeretiella rapae mummies were stored at 5?±?1°C for 0–36 days. The percentage of D. rapae emergence varied (100-83%) after 0–32 days of storage. After 32 days, emergence reduced to 55%. According to our Probit analysis, 50% mortality (LT50) of the population of D. rapae was reached after 40 days of storage at 5°C. Storage for up to 32 days did not negatively affect emergence and survival. Cold exposure of D. rapae for 36 days did not influence morphological malformations, sex ratio, and emergence of the F1 generation. After 4–36 days of storage, D. rapae showed a gradual decrease in emergence, longevity, reproductive capacity, and F1 sex ratio. Diaeretiella rapae can be stored for up to 24 days at 5°C, at which time the percentage of parasitism and the F1 sex ratio remain above 38% and at 0.50, respectively.  相似文献

The greenbugs, Schizaphis graminum (Rondani) were collected from the barley fields in Isfahan region of Iran. The aphid colonies were maintained on each of six barley cultivars including Karoon, Kavir, Zarjoo, Nosrat, Afzal and Rihane. All the experiments were done on the mentioned barley varieties at 26 ± 1°C, 60 ± 5% relative humidity (RH) and at a photoperiod of 16:8 (L:D) h. The shortest and longest developmental times were obtained on Nosrat 6.35 ± 0.11 and Rihane 6.75 ± 0.07 days, respectively. The survivorship of immature stages varied from 71.95% on Nosrat to 82.14% on Zarjoo. The total number of offsprings were 71.05 and 63.22 nymphs per female on Kavir and Karoon. The highest and lowest r m values were observed on Kavir (0.336 ± 0.005) and Rihane (0.299 ± 0.008), respectively. The statistical analysis of jackknife did not show a significant influence of the tested barley varieties for the mean generation time and a similar procedure of difference for λ and r m was estimated.  相似文献

A life-table was constructed for a little known aphidiid waspLysiphlebia mirzai, a parasitoid of cereal aphid,Rhopalosiphum maidis. The female parasitoid survived 6.4 ± 1.17 (SD) days and oviposited intensively 4.0 ± 0.47 days. The total fecundity rate, Rt, was 169.2 ± 6.94 mummies/female and net reproductive rate, Ro, was 92.70 female offspring/female. The intrinsic total fecundity rate, rt, and intrinsic rate of natural increase, rm, the finite rate of total fecundity, λt, and finite rate of increase, λm, was 0.27048, 0.24155, 1.31059 and 1.27322 respectively. The mean generation time (18.75 days) and doubling time of the population (2.87 days) was slightly higher than other aphidiids studied so far. The proportion of female progenies decreased significantly on the successive oviposition days.   相似文献

Knowledge of the physiological responses of barley, Hordeum vulgare L., to the Russian wheat aphid, Diuraphis noxia (Mordvilko) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) is critical to understanding the defense response of barley to aphid injury and identifying resistance mechanisms. This study documented the impact of D. noxia feeding on resistant (‘Sidney’) and susceptible (‘Otis’) barley through chlorophyll fluorescence measurements, chlorophyll content, and carbon assimilation (A–Ci) curves recorded at 1, 3, 6, 10, and 13 days after aphid introduction. All chlorophyll fluorescence parameters evaluated were similar between aphid-infested and control plants for both cultivars. A–Ci curves showed that D. noxia feeding negatively impacts the photosynthetic capacity in both cultivars, but this effect was greater in the susceptible plants. From the A–Ci curves, it is apparent that compensation occurs in resistant barley by day 10, but by the conclusion of the experiment, aphid populations reached levels that overwhelmed the resistant barley seedlings. Differences observed in carbon assimilation curves between control and infested plants show that D. noxia feeding impacts the dark reaction, specifically rubisco activity and RuBP regeneration. It is likely that declines in the photochemical efficiency and chlorophyll content of the plants may be a secondary effect and not the primary trigger of declines in host plant function.  相似文献

Reproductive activities of naturally occurring population of Diaeretiella rapae (M'Intosh) (Hymenoptera: Aphidiinae) on Myzus persicae were studied during spring season in New Zealand. The cabbage seedlings were highly infested with the aphids (272±25 individuals/plant) with about 30% on average parasitised by D. rapae. Rate of parasitism was positively correlated with the aphid density (R 2=0.64). Adult emergence from aphid mummies was 90%, with a higher frequency of females than males. Increase in female/male sex ratio was found between early and late spring (1.1 vs. 1.8). Mating in D. rapae occurred throughout the day. Nearly half of the mating pairs collected were male–male pairs, which were especially prevalent during morning and evening while more male–female mating pairs were found during midday. Male–male mounting was probably because of low number of virgin females in morning and evening populations. About 80% females were mounted by smaller size males. Male–male mounting is discussed in correlation with operational sex ratio of D. rapae population.  相似文献

Shifts in prevalence and abundance of hymenopteran parasitoids and dipteran predators, Diuraphis noxia, and other aphids were measured in the west-central Great Plains of North America, April–September, in 2001 and 2002, corresponding to over a decade after first detection of D. noxia and first release of D. noxia enemies. Significant temporal shifts in enemy species prevalence and diversity were detected in this study and more broadly during an 11 year time span. At any given time, some species were relatively common. One parasitoid had been predominant throughout (Aphelinus albipodus), two had shifted in dominance (Lysiphlebus testaceipes and Diaeretiella rapae), three parasitoids had been detected infrequently (Aphidius avenaphis, Aphidius matricariae, and Aphelinus asychis), one parasitoid was detected in the 1990s but not during 2001 and 2002 (Aphelinus varipes), two predatory flies occurred at occasional significant levels (Leucopis gaimarii and Eupeodes volucris), and two parasitoids may have been minor members of the fauna (Aphidius ervi and Praon yakimanum). Aphid populations detected were usually very low or not detected, precluding estimation of percent parasitism. The best evidence of suppression was observations of parasitoids in the rare case of D. noxia exceeding economic thresholds, which complemented past studies using high aphid densities. The D. noxia enemies detected were primarily endemic or long-time residents derived from previous introductions. This enemy community may provide flexibility in responding to a future aphid invasion, allowing more strategic use of biological control and other pest management approaches.  相似文献

Chrysoperla carnea (Steph.) is a general predator reared in industrial scale. Different eggs of moth were used to rear C. carnea, but stabled moth colony needed expensive equipment and is costly. In this research, we surveyed appropriate diet to mass rearing. For this purpose, 100 same old (24H) eggs of C. carnea, separately, were selected randomly from the mass culture of C. carnea which was reared on the egg of flour moth Anagasta kuehniella (Zeller), artificial diet and semi-artificial diet under laboratory conditions (25 ± 5°C, 65 ± 5% RH and L–D: 16–8). These results showed reduction process ex (expectation of life table at age X) and the survival curve was convex (K-Strategy). Also Lx in appearing of adults that fed on egg of flour moth, artificial diet and semi-artificial diet were 0.76, 0.4 and 0.9 which implied that 24, 60 and 10% of cohort were dead before reaching adult stage. Eggs produced by each female were recorded daily until all females died. The parameters were estimated using Carey’s (1993) method. Gross (GRR) and net (R0) reproductive rates of predator on A. kuehniella, artificial diet and semi artificial diets were 225.5 ± 3.45, 72.4 ± 3.5, 267.8 ± 4.8 and 180.12 ± 2.3, 24.33 ± 4.3, 254.05+3.3 (female/female/generation), respectively. Mean generation time (T), Doubling time (DT), Intrinsic rate of increase (rm ) and Finite rate of increase (λ) of predator on A. kuehniella, artificial diet and semi artificial diet were 31.9 ± 0.71, 42.87 ± 0.45, 29.79 ± 0.57 (days); 4.27 ± 0.03, 9.36 ± 0.06, 3.74 ± 0.05 (days); 0.162 ± 0.001, 0.074 ± 0.003, 1.185 ± 0.002; and 1.175 ± 0.001, 1.076 ± 0.002, 1.203 ± 0.002 (female/female/day), respectively. This research indicated that semi-artificial diet is a suitable prey for the predator.  相似文献

Parasitoids and predatory flies were sampled in the wheat production region of the west-central Great Plains (southeastern Wyoming, western Nebraska, and north-central Colorado) of North America using plant material infested with the Russian wheat aphid, Diuraphis noxia (Mordvilko) (Hemiptera: Aphididae). Samples were taken April through October in 2001 and 2002, which was 15–16 years after first detection of D. noxia and 5–6 years after the last release of natural enemies for its control in this region. The natural enemies detected were (in order of high to low detection frequencies across three states and 2 years): Aphelinus albipodus Hayat and Fatima (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae), Eupeodes volucris Osten Sacken (Diptera: Syrphidae), Lysiphlebus testaceipes (Cresson) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Aphidiinae), Leucopis gaimarii Tanasijtshuk (Diptera: Chamaemyiidae), Aphidius avenaphis (Fitch), Aphidius matricariae Haliday, Diaeretiella rapae (MIntosh), Aphidius ervi Haliday, Praon yakimanum Pike and Starý (Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Aphidiinae), and Aphelinus asychis Walker (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae). The results confirmed establishment of one of the 10 exotic parasitoid species released for D. noxia control (A. albipodus) in the west-central Great Plains. It is unknown whether detection of A. asychis, A. matricariae, and D. rapae can be attributed to exotic introductions or preexisting populations. Other species detected in this study have been previously documented from the western US, although the recognized distributions have expanded for A. avenaphis, L. gaimarii, and P. yakimanum compared to the first few years after initial detection of D. noxia. Thus, there is definitive establishment of one exotic introduced for D. noxia and considerable range expansion of preexisting species that prey upon D. noxia.  相似文献

In order to replace the conventional chemical pesticides, extensive researches have been done on entomopathogenic fungi. Entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana is an important biocontrol agent against major economic pests and is being employed in Integrated pest management (IPM) along with synthetic pesticides. Cabbage aphid Brevicoryne brassicae L. is one of the important pests of Brassicaceae family. Therefore, in this research, the virulence isolate of B. brassicae (IRAN 429C) was investigated on adults of cabbage aphid under laboratory conditions. The experiments were conducted at 25 ± 2 °C, 60 ± 10 R. H. and a photoperiod of 16:8 (L: D). After preliminary experiments, the adult aphids were treated with fungal concentrations of 1 × 103 to 1 × 107 spores/ml. Probit analysis was conducted to calculate LC50 and LC95 values for the isolate. Positive correlation was observed between concentrations and pest mortality. LC50 and LC95 values calculated for IRAN 429C isolate are 2.04 × 105 and 1.82 × 108, respectively. The mortality was counted one day after the treatment and then continued for 14 days. Cumulative mortality for 14 days after treatment varied from 54% for IRAN 429C at low concentration (103 conidia/ml) to 83% at high concentration (107 conidia/ml). The lowest LT50 was obtained at 7.67 days for IRAN 429C isolate at concentration 1 × 107 spore/ml. According to the insecticidal activity of mentioned fungi on cabbage aphid, it can be used in biocontrol programmes of B. brassicae.  相似文献

Green peach aphids, Myzus persicae (Sulz.) (Hemiptera: Aphididae), obtained from pepper fields, were colonized on susceptible pepper plants in a growth chamber. The development, survivorship, and life table parameters of the green peach aphid were evaluated on nine peppers cultivars as follows: Almuden, Bilano, Bird, Cabezo, de la Sierra, Eppo, Jaen, Raza, and Yatasto at controlled conditions (20?±?1°C; about 70% RH; 14h photophase). The development times of immatures ranged from 6.1 days on Yatasto to 11.4 days on Jaen, whereas immature survival was close to 100% on all cultivars. The intrinsic rate of increase (r m ) for green peach aphid on Bilano and Yatasto were the highest. Jackknife estimates of r m varied from 0.281 to 0.174 females/female/day on Yatasto and Jaen, respectively. The mean population generation times (T) on these hosts ranged from 13.7 to 22.7 days. The highest net reproductive rates (R 0 ) were on Bird and Bilano (63.8 and 62.89 females/female/generation, respectively) and the lowest on De la Sierra and Almuden (34.1 and 38.7, respectively). Because of the high coefficient of determination (R 2) values in Gompertz and Weibul models, survival data from different cultivars had a good fit to both models. The results pointed Jaen, Almuden, and Raza cultivars as the least suitable host plants, indicating that they were the most resistant to M. persicae among the cultivars we tested.  相似文献

Opius bellus is a neotropical larval-prepupal parasitoid known to attack the pestiferous fruit fly, Anastrepha fraterculus. Due to interest in the use of native parasitoids in forthcoming fruit fly biocontrol programmes in Argentina, O. bellus was colonised for the first time using laboratory-reared A. fraterculus larvae. A series of experiments were conducted to (1) best achieve an efficient parasitoid rearing by determining optimal larval host age, host:parasitoid ratio and host exposure time and (2) assess their potential as biological control agents by determining reproductive parameters. The most productive exposure regimen was: 7–9 d-old (early and middle third-instars) A. fraterculus larvae for 4 h at a 4:1 host:parasitoid ratio; this array of factors was sufficient to achieve the highest average adult emergence (48%) and an offspring sex ratio at equitable proportion. Increasing both host:parasitoid ratio further than 4:1 and the host exposure time beyond 4 h did not significantly enhance parasitoid female offspring yield. Females produced eggs for 29.5 ± 1.4 days. At 32 days of age, 50% of the females were still alive. The majority of the progeny were produced by females between 20 and 24 d-old. At 26°C, gross fecundity rate, net reproductive rate, intrinsic rate of increase and mean generation time were 20.7 ± 4.2 offspring/female, 9.6 ± 2.5 females/newborn females, 0.06 ± 0.01 females/female/day and 8.4 ± 0.2 days, respectively. The long lifespan and reproductive parameters suggest that this parasitoid species has suitable attributes for mass-rearing.  相似文献

Lysiphlebus testaceipes (Cresson) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Aphidiinae) has constituted a well-studied parasitoid insect model, but very little is known about the host-instar suitability of aphid for the wasp so far. One of the hosts of L. testaceipes is Aphis gossypii Glover (Hemiptera: Aphididae). The latter is a serious aphid pest to vegetable production in Benin. Therefore, the objectives of our study were to: (1) examine the oviposition behavior of L. testaceipes on A. gossypii; (2) investigate the host-instar suitability of A. gossypii for L. testaceipes; and (3) compare the life table parameters of A. gossypii with aphids parasitized by L. testaceipes and unparasitized aphids (control). The study was conducted in a laboratory at 26 ± 1 °C in petri dishes and revealed that the parasitoid utilized up to seven stabbing stings to handle and oviposit, particularly in older A. gossypii. In aphids parasitized at the third instar, the net reproductive rate R o as well as the intrinsic rate of natural increase r m was significantly lower (2.119 ± 0.272 and 0.110 ± 0.018) compared to the control (15.529 ± 1.287 and 0.272 ± 0.008), respectively (p < 0.01).  相似文献

The rose aphid, Macrosiphum rosae (L.), is one of the most important pests on rose plants (Rosa spp.) with a worldwide distribution. As resistance indices, the development, survivorship, and reproduction of this aphid were evaluated on 10 rose cultivars, including Bella Vita, Cool Water, Dolce Vita, Maroussia, Orange Juice, Pinkpromise, Roulette, Tea, Valentine, and Persian Yellow in laboratory at 25?±?1°C, 65?±?5% relative humidity, and photoperiod of 16:8 (L/D)?h. Rose aphid successfully survived on all 10 rose cultivars, although mortality rate was higher on Tea and Bella Vita. The number of offspring per female differed significantly among the tested rose cultivars, and ranged from 9.2 on Tea to 38.7 nymphs on Orange Juice. Population growth parameters were significantly affected by rose cultivars. The longest mean generation time (T) was observed on Bella Vita (14.8 days) and Tea (14.7 days) and the shortest on Orange Juice (10.0 days). The net reproductive rate (R 0 ) ranged from 6.9 on Tea to 33.2 nymphs on Orange Juice cultivar. Correspondingly, the highest value of intrinsic rate of increase (r m ) was observed on Orange Juice (0.348 day?1) and lower values on Tea (0.131 day?1) followed by Bella Vita (0.154 day?1). Cluster analysis of all the measured parameters of rose aphid on different rose cultivars revealed that Tea and Bella Vita were relatively resistant to M. rosae. These findings could be useful in developing an integrated pest management (IPM) program for this aphid in urbanized areas and commercial rose potting.  相似文献
