The epidermal salt glands of the grasses Cynodon and Distichlis consist of a small outer cap cell and a large, flask-shaped basal cell. The wall of the basal cell is contiguous with those of the adjacent epidermal cells and underlying mesophyll cells. The basal cell is connected symplastically with all adjoining cells via plasmodesmata. The outer, protruding portion of the glands is covered by a cuticle continuous with that of the adjoining epidermal cells. However, the lateral cell walls of the glands are not incrusted by this cuticle. The cap cell wall has a loose, mottled appearance quite different from the compact striated appearance of the basal cell wall. The cap cell is characterized by dense cytoplasm containing many organelles and a varying number of small vacuoles. The basal cell cytoplasm is distinguished by the presence of an intricate system of paired membranes that are closely associated with mitochondria and microtubules. These membranes are infoldings of the plasmalemma that originate adjacent to the wall separating the cap and basal cells. The space enclosed by the paired membranes, therefore, is an extracellular channel that is open only in the direction of secretory flow. The consistent orientation of this system of paired membranes suggests that it represents a structural specialization which is directly and functionally involved in the secretory process. The close association of mitochondria and microtubules with the paired membranes implies that these structures are also functionally related to the secretory process. Finally, the results of this study indicate that these glands are ultrastructurally similar to those of Spartina and that the glands of these three grasses are structurally distinct from those of dicotyledonous plants.  相似文献

The birds seen on the Berlengas, the Desertas, Baixo Island, and the Salvages in June and July 1939 are listed and field notes are given on certain species.
In Puffinis kuhlii borealis incubation was by both sexes. Where it is unmolested by man, as at Grande Salvage, this bird is partly diurnal in visiting the land; where molested, as on the Berlingas' and Desertas, it is nocturnal.
In Bulweria bulwerii incubation is by both sexes, probably in shifts of two or more days.
At Grande Salvage there appears to be a division of the year into specific breeding seasons by which the maximum use is made of the ground–burrows by two if not three species of petrels. This probable breeding competition is discussed, and other examples suggested from the literature of petrels breeding on small tropical and sub–tropical islands.  相似文献

The speed of development and the developmental mortality of Tribolium castaneum were studied over a series of temperatures between 15 and 40°C. at 10, 30, 70 and 90% R.H. using wheatfeed as food.
Eggs did not hatch at any humidity at 17·5°C. or less, nor at 10% R.H. at 40°C. At all other conditions about 80% of eggs hatched. Humidity does not affect the duration of the egg period. The effect of temperature on the egg period is shown graphically, the shortest period occurring at 37·5°C.
Larvae fail to develop into normal adults at 20°C. and also fail at 90 and 30% R.H. at 40°C. At 20°C. and 70% R.H. pupae may be formed but they do not become normal adults. The rate of larval development is affected by both temperature and humidity. Development is quickest at the highest humidity used at any temperature and at 35°C. for each humidity. Larval mortality is less than 20% except at 40°C. and at combinations of low humidity and low temperature. The results correspond with published results using similar foodstuffs.
Groundnuts were used as a food in a series of experiments at 30°C. and another series at 70% R.H. Larvae on this food were much more susceptible to the effects of humidity and were unable to develop at 20 or 40°C. at 70% R.H. In all conditions development was slower and mortality higher than on wheatfeed.
The pupal period is not affected by humidity and is shortest at 37·5°C.
The conditions in which Park found that cultures of T. castaneum became extinct, 24°C. and 30% R.H., lie inside the zone in which development is possible. The possible causes for this discrepancy are discussed.  相似文献

尼罗尖吻鲈和鳜鱼染色体组型分析及比较   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
采用PHA、秋水仙碱腹腔或背部肌肉注射,活体培养法,以前肾为材料,低渗-空气干燥法制片,进行染色体观察,运用Micromeasure version 3.3染色体分析软件和Photoshop 7.0软件首次分析了尼罗尖吻鲈的染色体数目和核型,并同鳜鱼染色体数目和核型进行了分析比较,对今后拟采取的杂交尝试提供理论基础。结果显示:尼罗尖吻鲈染色体众数为2n=48,核型公式为2m+4sm+12st+30t,染色体臂数(NF)为54;鳜鱼染色体众数为2n=48,核型公式为6sm+12st+30t,染色体臂数(NF)亦为54;两种鱼染色体短臂上均无随体,单臂染色体较多。分析表明尼罗尖吻鲈与鳜鱼杂交成功的可能性较大。  相似文献

Behavioural and ecological characters are used in addition to structural ones in considering the systematics of the Meropidae. The two species of Nyctyornis are the most primitive extant forms. Meropogon is retained as a monotypic genus for forsteni, and all other bee-eaters are placed in the single genus Merops, being ecologically and morphologically rather uniform except in details of wing and tail structure, which should be considered only of specific importance. M. breweri and M. oreobates are thought to be secondarily rather than primarily forest species. With the submergence of Aerops and Melittophagus, and the monotypic genera Bombylonax and Dicrocercus, which are considered to be closely related to the pusillus species-group, Merops is enlarged to 21 species which are uniform except in tail-shape, wing formula and throat feather structure. These characters are of specific importance only, and have a mosaic distribution within the genus. Their use in the definition of the formerly recognized genera results in an artificial classification. The proposed delimitation of species-groups within Merops differs somewhat from previous arrangements, and affinities argued in the text are summarized in Fig. 15, which shows superspecies and species-groups. The species recognized are formally tabulated below. The Meropidae probably originated in southeast Asian forest and spread through former forest to Africa. Only in Africa was the open-country environment invaded, and speciation in the savanna was in two main directions, producing small sedentary and large migratory species. Representatives of both types returned to Asia in open country. From the present distribution of species it is inferred that speciation has proceeded under the main influences of (1) isolation of a population and its habitat in Pleistocene Africa and (2) isolation of migrants away from their breeding range. The distributions of species with wide or rather limited ranges are discussed in terms of physiological adaptation and ecological competition. Opinion has not been expressed on the validity of subspecies, which have been discussed only in delimiting controversial species. In the following summary, the only subspecies named are those affected by changes from Peters' scheme (cf. Table 1). Superspecies are bracketed. 白鲟肝脏较大,可分为左右两大叶及小的中叶,胆囊位于右叶的凹缺内。肝板多由双层细胞构成,肝小叶不明显。肝内毛细胆小管由4个肝实质细胞围成。胰脏有3支,被厚的浆膜。胰岛明显。胰管与胆管汇合后共同开口于小肠最前部背面。对肝、胰实质细胞的显微或亚显微结构进行了描述。  相似文献

A kelp/red algal symbiosis is described from nature based on extensive collections from the San Juan Islands, Washington. Kelp gametophytes were found as endophytes in the cell walls of seventeen species of red algae in three different kelp communities. Host red algae were mostly filamentous (e.g., Pleonosporium vancouverianum ) or polysiphonous (e.g. Polysiphonia paniculata ). The kelp gametophytes completed vegetative and reproductive development in the hosts with gametangia formed at the host surface and with sporophytes up to several mm in height being produced while still attached to the host. To date, none of the kelp gametophytes from nature have been identified to genus or species, although the gametophyte of Nereocystis luetkeana is a potential candidate for the symbiosis. Preliminary observations from Nova Scotia and the Isle of Man have not found the association in the Atlantic Ocean. Laboratory studies in Korea successfully reconstructed the symbiosis in the red alga Aglaothamnion oosumiense using zoospores of Undaria pinnatifida but not Laminaria religiosa. Here we outline the development of the symbiosis and discuss the potential adaptive significance of the kelp/red algal interaction.  相似文献

The fine structure of the anal gland of Nucella lapillus isdescribed, and compared with that of Gibbula cineraria. It isconcluded that the glands are not analogous in function andare unlikely to be homologous. The anal gland of Gibbula isa small rectal diverticu-lum near the anal papilla, lined bymucus-secreting cells. The evidence suggests that the largeanal gland of Nucella extracts macromolecules and cations fromthe blood, metabolizes or sequesters them in lyso-somes andultimately expels the resultant residual bodies by apocrinesecretion. It has large reserves of lipid and glycogen, andthe abundance of melanin indicates that it is a major site oftyrosine degradation. The invariable presence of bacteria inthe lumen, and of pits in the epithelium to house them, impliesa symbiotic relationship in which the bacteria metabolize anddegrade the cell debris, some of which is resorbed. The lossof the anal gland in bucci-nids and nassariids is accompaniedby great reduction in size and importance of the rectal sinus,and increase in complexity of the kidney. The unique fruiting structures of the closely related, principally Mexican, monotypic genera Gongylocarpus and Burragea (Onagraceae) compelled a detailed anatomical and cytological investigation of these plants which led to the conclusion that they should be included in a single genus, Gongylocarpus. Gongylocarpus fruticulosus (Burragea), endemic to two adjacent islands off the west coast of Baja California, is divided into two subspecies, subsp. fruticulosus and subsp. glaber. The vegetative and floral anatomy, including wood anatomy, of both species is described. The fruits of these two species grow into the stem by meristematic activity during the course of ontogeny, the ovaries in the mature flower being superficial and sessile in the leaf axil. There is no pedicel associated with the flower, but only a branch gap. Meristematic tissue at the base of the locules divides rapidly at a relatively late ontogenetic stage, the ovaries growing downward into the stem and crushing the pith. The mature, heavily sclerenchymatous fruits are located wholly within the stem, and in G. fruticulosus they are aggregated into long chains. Both species have a gametic chromosome number of n = 11, a characteristic otherwise unknown in the tribe Onagreae but shared with other generalized groups in the family. Taken together with other features, this suggests a primitive position within the tribe for Gongylocarpus.  相似文献

用化学修饰研究了菌紫质(BR)的结构和功能的变化。用氮氧自由基分别对赖氨酸和丝氨酸进行修饰,研究结果表明在圆二色谱上(CD谱),与天然紫膜样品比较,两种自由基分别修饰赖氨酸(Lys)和丝氨酸(Ser)残基24小时后的CD谱中均只有负峰,分别在596nm和602nm,535nm的正峰已消失,72小时后535nm的正峰部分地恢复,但120小时后均未见进一步恢复。与未修饰的紫膜相比,两种自由基修饰的紫膜在Raman光谱上观察到中间体M412的相对量要明显增加。本文对这二种化学修饰引起的BR结构和功能变化进行了初步讨论。  相似文献

本实验利用前列环素(Prostacyclin,简称PGI_2)及血栓素(Thromboxane A_2,简称TXA_2)的代谢产物6-KF及TXB_2的RIA技术,探讨了小鼠子宫在胚泡着床点及非着床部位上述二类PG_s的含量变化。实验表明,妊娠D_5胚泡着床部位及着床间区,6-KF的水平较高;而TXB_2含量较低变化也小。表明胚泡着床时,血管通透性增强与PGI_2升高密切相关。PGI_2与TXA_2比值的增高,使血管舒张,增强抗凝,有利于胚泡着床及营养供应。  相似文献

Closterium acerosum Ehrenberg (Chlorophyta) possesses a trilayered cell wall consisting of an outer tri-laminate stratum, a fibrous middle layer, and a thick inner fibrous layer. The outermost layer has a series of external parallel ridges and valleys. At the bases of the valleys are the wall pores, the site of mucilage release. Pure fractions of cell walls were isolated and inclusive pectin and wall protein fractions were extracted and characterized. Two pectin-like fractions were isolated: a CDTA-extracted polymer consisting of 60.1% galacturonic acid and a Na2CO3-extracted fraction consisting of 39.9% galacturonic acid. Two major protein fractions, one with a molecular mass of 23.5 kDa and one with a molecular mass of 28.5 kDa, were isolated by preparative gel electrophoresis. The former was glycine-rich, whereas the latter contained both significant amounts of glycine and hydroxyproline. Antibodies were raised to both the pectin fractions and the 23.5-kDa wall protein fraction. Immunocytochemical labeling of whole cells and wall fragments using antibodies raised against CDTA and Na2CO3 extracts showed that these pectin-like components were found throughout the wall strata and were more concentrated at the polar tips, the site of new wall synthesis in growing semicells. Immunogold labeling showed that their production was focused on the trans- Golgi network of the Golgi apparatus. Immunolabeling with an antibody raised against the 23.5-kDa glycine-rich wall protein showed close association of the protein with the wall pores. Similarly, immunogold labeling revealed that the protein was processed throughout the entire Golgi body even when large mucilage-containing vesicles were being processed. The roles of the secretory apparatus and putative spitzenkorper-like regions of the cell are discussed.  相似文献

广义大头茶族几乎包括了整个山茶亚科的属,分群的界限不够明确,易于造成混乱,经过研究,作者所持的是狭义大头茶族的概念。考察这一族包括Polyspora, Gordonia和Laplacea三个属形态特征上的差异和洲际分布的事实,这三个属虽然有共同的祖先,但由于演化上的歧异,仍应作为独立的属看待。在划分属的界限上,苞被分化与否和花部其他形态的差异具有最重要的意义,花粉表面纹饰的差异也可作为一种依据。Polyspora种群划分也被讨论。  相似文献
