The present study deals with the diversity of moths along with the contrasting six selected landscapes and three seasons in Delhi, India for the years 2015–16 and 2016–17. Among the 51 species of moths recorded, relative abundance of family Noctuidae (61%) was found to be the highest followed by Erebidae (21.6%) and Crambidae (13%). Species diversity was found to be the highest during pre-monsoon season, whereas among the study sites Dwarka not only had the highest relative abundance of moth species (26%) but also the highest biodiversity indexes. Prior to this study in Delhi, only documentation of this faunal group, mostly in the form of occasional observations or reporting or compilation of checklists were done which have their own significance. The findings of this study indicate the significance of the urban green areas in the city to support a wide array of moths.  相似文献

Moth assemblages in three habitat types were investigated to find differences in species richness and abundances and to find any specific moth group(s) in each habitat. Study areas were in southern Korea: lowlands of Muan-county, Jeollanam-do Province and mid-elevations to highlands of Mt. Jirisan National Park. Moth monitoring, conducted at eight sites, was comprised of three habitat types—native forest, regenerative forest and rural landscape. A total of 4,803 individuals, consisting of 583 species in 362 genera, were identified. Species richness did not differ significantly by habitat type or elevation. ANOVA indicated that site, location and elevation significantly affected the species abundances of Drepanidae, Epiplemidae, Limacodidae, Noctuidae and Zygaenidae, while habitat type was not a significant factor. The moth abundances of Geometridae, Lasiocampidae, Lymantriidae, Notodontidae, Saturniidae, Sphingidae and Thyatiridae were not significantly associated with any independent variables. The diversity patterns of larger moths along environmental gradients and the relationship between moths and forest types were discussed.  相似文献

识别群落内部各类群多样性格局的复杂性是生态学家面临的挑战,而尺度推绎规律是揭示复杂生态结构的有效途径之一。本研究利用多重分形的方法探索了不同海拔土壤动物多样性格局的尺度推绎规律,对比分析了凋落物层和土壤层之间多重分形谱的差异。结果表明: 与之前对植物群落的分析结果相似,土壤动物多样性尺度推绎规律同样具有幂律特征,如丰富度、Shannon多样性指数和Simpson多样性的倒数。凋落物层和土壤层中不同相对多度土壤动物的丰富度也具有幂律尺度推绎规律。凋落物层和土壤层中土壤动物多样性格局都具有多重分形特征,但凋落物层中多样性的分形结构比土壤层更均匀,且两层间优势类群与稀有类群的尺度推绎特征在多重分形谱上不同格局。幂律尺度推绎规律对于有着较高丰富度与多度的土壤动物同样存在,从而有助于揭示地下生物多样性的空间分布机制。  相似文献

We sampled macromoths from 2005 to 2011 at six sites in Mt. Jirisan National Park (JNP), the oldest and largest national park in South Korea, to address the following questions: (1) what is the total macromoth species richness of JNP and can the total moth species richness be estimated after 7-years? (2) What is the proportion of moth families and is this pattern of family dominance similar to that seen in other areas? (3) What are the yearly and monthly patterns of macromoth richness? In total, 24,890 individuals belonging to 948 species of 14 families of macrolepidoptera were collected. An estimated species number of 1096 was calculated using the Chao 1 estimator. A rank abundance plot showed a typical log-normal distribution. The proportions of dominant families were similar to those reported in temperate and tropical moth fauna studies: Noctuidae was the most species-rich taxon, followed by Geometridae, Erebidae, Notodontidae, Drepanidae, and Sphingidae. Overall species richness and abundance were greatest in June, but the patterns of species richness and abundance varied by season and site. Within years, patterns of species richness were correlated with phenology but not the proximity of sites to one another in JNP. We provide various hypotheses to explain the high moth diversity in JNP, and future perspectives based on the results of our 7-year moth monitoring study.  相似文献

对井冈山自然保护区蛾类群落的多样性及其受人为干扰的影响进行了研究。结果显示:(1)人为干扰导致井冈山自然保护区蛾类群落构成有较大差别,严重干扰导致蛾类科数明显降低;物种数和个体数呈现出随着人为干扰加强而降低的趋势;蛾类各优势科在不同人为干扰样点的相对多度存在差异。(2)人为干扰导致蛾类主要科的物种数和个体数变化不同:尺蛾科、夜蛾科、毒蛾科和舟蛾科的物种数和个体数在人为干扰下降低;轻度和中度干扰导致螟蛾科和天蛾科的物种数和个体数升高,重度干扰下物种数和个体数降低;人为干扰导致灯蛾科的物种数和苔蛾科的个体数升高。(3)人为干扰导致蛾类群落Shannon多样性指数、Pielou均匀度指数降低,Berger-Parker优势度指数升高。(4)人为干扰对蛾类群落的物种数和个体数的时间动态影响较大,对Shannon指数和Pielou均匀度指数时间动态影响较小,导致Berger-Parker优势度指数时间波动幅度增大。(5)人为干扰导致样点间蛾类群落相似性较低。  相似文献

Alpha‐diversity of geometrid moths was investigated along an elevational gradient in a tropical montane rainforest in southern Ecuador. Diversity was measured using 1) species number, 2) extrapolated species number (Chao 1 estimator), 3) rarefied species number, and 4) Fisher's alpha. When applied to the empirical data set, 1 and 2 strongly depended on the sample size, whereas 3 and 4 were suitable and reliable measures of local diversity. At single sites, up to 292 species were observed, and extrapolation estimates range from 244 to 445 species. Values for Fisher's alpha are among the highest ever measured for this moth family, and range from 69 to 131 per site. In contrast to theoretical assumptions and empirical studies in other regions of the world, the diversity of geometrid moths remained consistently high along the entire gradient studied. Diversity measures correlated with neither altitude nor ambient temperature. The large subfamily Ennominae has previously been assumed to be a group that occurs mainly at low and medium elevations. However, no decline in diversity was found in the study area. The diversity of the other large subfamily, Larentiinae, even increased from the lowest elevations and was highest at elevations above 1800 m. The roles of a decreasing diversity of potential host‐plants, decreasing structural complexity of the vegetation, increasingly unfavourable climatic conditions and possible physiological adaptations in determining herbivore species richness are discussed. A relatively low predation pressure might be an advantage of high‐altitude habitats. The physiognomy of the Andes (folded mountains, large areas at high altitudes) might also have allowed speciation events and the development of a species‐rich high‐altitude fauna. There is evidence that the species‐richness of other groups of herbivorous insects in the same area declines as altitude increases. This emphasises difficulties that are associated with biodiversity indicator groups, and calls for caution when making generalisations from case studies.  相似文献

This paper provides a list of moths captured in a region at latitudes 29–32°N and longitudes 127–130°E on the East China Sea on 14–28 June and 1–7 July 2005. Sixteen species of moths from the families Plutellidae, Crambidae, Sphingidae and Noctuidae were identified. Among these, three species were recorded on the East China Sea for the first time. The migration paths of the captured moths were analyzed using a three‐dimensional backward trajectory analysis method. Predicted migration sources for these moths are Taiwan and Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Anhui provinces in China.  相似文献

Aim This study was conducted to investigate the potential of predicting alpha diversity and turnover rates of a highly diverse herbivorous insect family (Geometridae) based on vascular plant species richness and vegetation structure. Location The study was carried out on the south‐western slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro within a wide range of habitats between 1200 and 3150 m elevation. Methods The floristic and structural composition of the vegetation was recorded at 48 plots of 400 m2. Geometrid moths were sampled manually at light sources located at the plot centres. Principal components analysis, redundancy analysis and multiple linear regression were used to explore how alpha diversity and species turnover of geometrid moths are related to vegetation structure and plant species richness. Results Alpha diversity of geometrid moths was significantly correlated with species diversity patterns in the most common vascular plant families (R2 = 0.49) and with plant structural parameters (R2 = 0.22), but not with overall floristic diversity. Species turnover of geometrid moths was strongly linked to diversity changes in a range of plant families (40% explained variance), less strongly to changes in vegetation physiognomy (25%), and only weakly to overall floristic diversity (5%). Changes in elevation were a better predictor of both alpha diversity and species turnover of geometrid moths than any principal component extracted from the vegetation data. Main conclusions Vegetation composition, diversity and structure all showed significant correlations with the diversity and species composition of geometrid moth assemblages. Nevertheless, in most cases relationships were indirect, via environmental parameters such as temperature and humidity, which influenced both vegetation and moth fauna. Possible direct links between geometrid diversity and potential food plants were much weaker. The lack of a significant correlation between overall plant species richness and geometrid diversity indicates that tropical geometrid moths may not be very selective in their food plant choice. Accordingly, a clear correlation between floral diversity and herbivore species richness must be regarded as overly simplistic, and the diversity of vascular plants cannot universally be used as a suitable biodiversity indicator for diverse insect taxa at higher trophic levels.  相似文献

选择山西蟒河猕猴国家级自然保护区针阔叶混交林、阔叶落叶林、杂木林和灌木林4种植被类型为调查样地来初步了解蛾类群落结构及多样性。共采集蛾类标本4709只,隶属24科184种,其中螟蛾科种类和个体数量最多。在4种植被类型中,灌木林的蛾类种数最多,有20科132种,灌木林中螟蛾科为优势科;阔叶落叶林中最少,14科74种,尺蛾科为优势科;针阔叶混交林和杂木林居中,其中前者优势科不明显,后者以草螟科占优势。对4种植被类型中蛾类物种丰富度、多度、多样性和均匀度指数进行了计算和分析,结果表明:蛾类的多度指数在阔叶落叶林中显著低于其余3种植被类型;蛾类的丰富度、多样性和均匀度指数在灌木林中均最高,在针阔叶混交林和杂木林中则相近。蛾类种-多度曲线在针阔叶混交林、杂木林和灌木林中符合对数正态分布模型,而在阔叶落叶林中不符合对数正态分布模型。  相似文献

Cerambycidae have an important ecological role in initiating the degradation process of dead wood, but few studies have evaluated Cerambycidae community attributes in relation to ecosystem phenology. We surveyed the cerambicid fauna of the tropical dry forest in Huatulco, Oaxaca, Mexico, and explored the relationship of Cerambycidae species richness and abundance with phenological changes in vegetation. We applied three collecting methods of light traps, direct collection, and Malaise traps to survey Cerambycidae throughout 2005. To determine seasonal variations, we collected samples in the dry season month of February in the rainy season of May–July and August–September, and in the transition months of October and November through. We collected and identified 145 species, 88 genera, 37 tribes, and four subfamilies. The subfamily with the highest number of species was Cerambycinae (100 species), and the tribe with the highest number of genera and species was Elaphidiini with 13 genera and 33 species. The ICE non-parametric estimator determined an overall expected richness of 373 species, while the overall Shannon Diversity Index was 4.1. Both species richness and abundance varied seasonally, with the highest values recorded in the rainy season and the lowest in the dry season. Overall species abundance was not significantly correlated to monthly rainfall or EVI neither, only for “direct collecting” the EVI vs Richness and EVI vs Shannon Diversity Index were significantly correlated. We propose that the seemingly contradictory relationships between seasonal richness patterns of Cerambycidae and the greening/senescence of vegetation (EVI) may be explained by the seasonal availability of dead organic matter, flowers, or leafy vegetation that may be synchronized with the behavior of different cerambycid species.  相似文献

调查研究表明:长白山自然保护区有天蛾科昆虫31种,隶属5个亚科19属。其中白须天蛾Kentrochrysalis sieversiAlpheraky、女贞天蛾K.streckeriStaudinger为长白山新记录,黄脉天蛾AmorphaamurensisStaudinger为优势种。绝大多数天蛾种类是单带种,仅分布阔叶红松林带,只有黄脉天蛾为多带种。天蛾成虫活动期为5月下旬~8月中旬,种群数量最多时间为6月~7月。昆虫区系主要起源于古北区,区系以东方成分为主,其次是欧洲-西伯利亚成分,亦有一定数量中亚细亚或印度-马来西亚成分。  相似文献

We studied temporal and spatial dynamics of extremely diverse moth ensembles (Lepidoptera: Pyraloidea) along a gradient of forest disturbance ranging from undisturbed primary tropical rain forest to different kinds of modified forest and open cultivated land at the margin of Mount Kinabalu National Park (Sabah, East Malaysia). We sampled moths by light trapping during two periods (March‐May and August‐September 1997). We collected a total of 7724 individuals representing 680 species during 78 light‐trapping nights at six study sites. Species diversity (Fisher's α) of ensembles in undisturbed primary forest was distinctly higher than in disturbed or secondary forest. More pyraloid moths were attracted in undisturbed primary forest. Samples from disturbed primary or old‐growth secondary forest were statistically indistinguishable from the undisturbed primary forest ensemble in regard to species composition. Thus, pyraloid ensembles from disturbed forest with tall trees remaining appeared to represent impoverished subsets of the undisturbed primary forest community. The more heavily disturbed sites had a distinct fauna and showed a stronger faunal differentiation among each other. Four species of the genus Eoophyla, in which aquatic larvae feed on algae in fast‐running streams benefited prominently from forest disturbance. Temporal variation of ensembles was remarkably concordant across the disturbance gradient. Relative abundance variation of the commonest species was identical at all sites. Overall, pyraloid moths responded more sensitively to anthropogenic habitat alteration than most other moth taxa studied thus far in tropical regions and allowed for an analysis of diversity patterns at a high temporal resolution.  相似文献

Molecular analysis of diet overcomes the considerable limitations of traditional techniques for identifying prey remains in bat faeces. We collected faeces from individual Mountain Long-eared Bats Plecotus macrobullaris trapped using mist nets during the summers of 2009 and 2010 in the Pyrenees. We analysed their diet using DNA mini-barcodes to identify prey species. In addition, we inferred some basic features of the bat's foraging ecology that had not yet been addressed. P. macrobullaris fed almost exclusively on moths (97.8%). As prey we detected one dipteran genus (Tipulidae) and 29 moth taxa: 28 were identified at species level (23 Noctuidae, 1 Crambidae, 1 Geometridae, 1 Pyralidae, 1 Sphingidae, 1 Tortricidae), and one at genus level (Rhyacia sp., Noctuidae). Known ecological information about the prey species allowed us to determine that bats had foraged at elevations between 1,500 and 2,500 m amsl (above mean sea level), mostly in subalpine meadows, followed by other open habitats such as orophilous grasslands and alpine meadows. No forest prey species were identified in the diet. As 96.4% of identified prey species were tympanate moths and no evidence of gleaning behaviour was revealed, we suggest P. macrobullaris probably forages by aerial hawking using faint echolocation pulses to avoid detection by hearing moths. As we could identify 87.8% of the analysed sequences (64.1% of the MOTUs, Molecular Operational Taxonomic Units) at species level, we conclude that DNA mini-barcodes are a very useful tool to analyse the diet of moth-specialist bats.  相似文献

The Farm Woodland Scheme, which provided incentives to convert agricultural land to timber production, contained an implicit assumption that farm woodlands produce important benefits for wildlife. The moth fauna of 18 farm woodlands in the Vale of York was surveyed between May and November 1991. The aims were twofold. The first was to determine if there were benefits for moth species diversity. The second was to ascertain whether concepts of island biogeography and the plant species richness of the woods were related to the moth species composition.Eleven families, 214 species and over 16 000 individuals of moths were recorded. Classification of the species presence/absence matrix indicated that small woods (less than 1ha) did not have characteristic woodland moth communities. Woods larger than 5ha were judged to be more valuable for the long-term conservation of woodland moth diversity. The best predictor of moth species richness was the herbaceous plant species richness within woodlands. Species richness of the family Geometridae was positively related to woodland area, as well as to woodland shape (compact shapes being preferable to elongated shapes). Characteristic woodland species are influenced by isolation (less isolated woods being richer in species). The implications of different powers of dispersal between moth families are discussed. Farm woodlands will be of more value for the conservation of the Macrolepidoptera if they are large, compact and incorporate remnants of existing woodland with extant herbaceous vegetation. These should be factors which are taken into consideration when providing incentives to establish and manage farm woodlands.  相似文献

Despite enormous diversity, abundance, and role in ecosystem processes, little is known about how butterflies differ across altitudinal gradients. For this, butterfly communities were investigated along an altitudinal gradient of 2700–3200 m a.s.l, along the Gulmarg region of Jammu & Kashmir, India. We aimed to determine how the altitudinal gradient and environmental factors affect the butterfly diversity and abundance. Our findings indicate that species richness and diversity are mainly affected by the synergism between climate and vegetation. Alpha diversity indices showed that butterfly communities were more diverse at lower elevations and declined significantly with increase in elevation. Overall, butterfly abundance and diversity is stronger at lower elevations and gradually keep dropping towards higher elevations because floristic diversity decreased on which butterflies rely for survival and propagation. A total of 2023 individuals of butterflies were recorded belonging to 40 species, represented by 27 genera and 05 families. Six survey sites (S I- S VI) were assessed for butterfly diversity from 2018 to 2020 in the Gulmarg region of Jammu & Kashmir. Across the survey, Nymphalidae was the most dominant family represented by 16 genera and 23 species, while Papilionidae and Hesperiidae were least dominant represented by 01 genera and 01 species each. Among the six collection sites selected, Site I was most dominant, represented by 16 genera and 21 species, while Site VI was least dominant, represented by 04 genera and 04 species.  相似文献

Pollination is a crucial plant–animal interaction in ecosystems, and moths (Lepidoptera) are a widespread and species-rich group of flower visitors. In this article, plant and moth species connected via pollination interactions were identified from the literature, and information on the relevance of moth pollination in various ecosystems, including agro-ecosystems, was compiled, particularly for Europe and North America. Overall, 227 moth–flower pollination interactions were found, including certain specialized relationships between plants and pollinating seed predators. Most of the interactions could be attributed to the moth families Noctuidae (90 interactions, 56 species) and Sphingidae (85 interactions, 32 species), and to the plant families Orchidaceae (109 interactions, 22 species) and Caryophyllaceae (59 interactions, 16 species). Limited information is available on the role of moth pollination in natural ecosystems (7 studies). In temperate agro-ecosystems, moths are most likely not essential to crop pollination, but they can contribute to the pollination of non-crop plants, which are crucial to maintaining biodiversity in these ecosystems. In general, the role of moths as pollinators appears to be underestimated because only a few studies on moth pollination are available, and long-term, ecosystem-scale research is necessary to address temporal fluctuations in their abundance and community composition.  相似文献

The focus of this study is to display the faunistic, ecological and zoogeographical status of Elateridae fauna from the middle part of the Blacksea Region in Turkey. Materials are specimens collected from 2006 to 2009 during field studies, as well as the species - of which localities are unpublished-received from the private collection of Dr. Giuseppe Platia and the species present in the available literature. 54 species of 21 genera belonging to 6 subfamilies of Elateridae were recorded in the collected specimens. Along with the species present in literature and the private collection, the total material representing the study area was shown to comprise six subfamilies, 24 genera and 73 species. Number of specimens, collecting habitats-methods, months, altitudes are given in tables and graphs for collected species. Distributions of species in other regions of Turkey and zoogeographical regions are also given in tables and graphs for all species. Diversity of the collected species and collecting habitats-methods were compared by using Shannon-Wiener diversity index. Zoogeographical status of all species were discussed.  相似文献
