The record efficiency of the state‐of‐the‐art polymer solar cells (PSCs) is rapidly increasing, due to the discovery of high‐performance photoactive donor and acceptor materials. However, strong questions remain as to whether such high‐efficiency PSCs can be produced by scalable processes. This paper reports a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 13.5% achieved with single‐junction ternary PSCs based on PTB7‐Th, PC71BM, and COi8DFIC fabricated by slot‐die coating, which shows the highest PCE ever reported in PSCs fabricated by a scalable process. To understand the origin of the high performance of the slot‐die coated device, slot‐die coated photoactive films and devices are systematically investigated. These results indicate that the good performance of the slot‐die PSCs can be due to a favorable molecule‐structure and film‐morphology change by introducing 1,8‐diiodooctane and heat treatment, which can lead to improved charge transport with reduced carrier recombination. The optimized condition is then used for the fabrication of large‐area modules and also for roll‐to‐roll fabrication. The slot‐die coated module with 30 cm2 active‐area and roll‐to‐roll produced flexible PSC has shown 8.6% and 9.6%, respectively. These efficiencies are the highest in each category and demonstrate the strong potential of the slot‐die coated ternary system for commercial applications.  相似文献

Organic solar cells are promising in terms of full‐solution‐processing which enables low‐cost and large‐scale fabrication. While single‐junction solar cells have seen a boost in power conversion efficiency (PCE), multi‐junction solar cells are promising to further enhance the PCE. In all‐solution‐processed multi‐junction solar cells, interfacial losses are often encountered between hole‐transporting layer (HTL) and the active layers and therefore greatly limit the application of newly developed high‐performance donor and acceptor materials in multi‐junction solar cells. Here, the authors report on a systematic study of interface losses in both single‐junction and multi‐junction solar cells based on representative polymer donors and HTLs using electron spectroscopy and time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry. It is found that a facile mixed HTL containing poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) and MoO x nanoparticles successfully overcomes the interfacial losses in both single‐ and multi‐junction solar cells based on various active layers by reducing interface protonation, promoting better energy‐level alignment, and forming a dense and smooth layer. Solution‐processed single‐junction solar cells are demonstrated to reach the same performance as with evaporated MoO x (over 7%). Multi‐junction solar cells with polymers containing nitrogen atoms as the first layer and the mixed PEDOT:PSS and MoO x nanoparticles as hole extraction layer reach fill factor (FF) of over 60%, and PCE of over 8%, while the identical stack with pristine PEDOT:PSS or MoO x nanoparticles show FF smaller than 50% and PCE less than 5%.  相似文献

Charge transport layers play an important role in determining the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, it has proven challenging to produce thin and compact charge transport layers via solution processing techniques. Herein, a hot substrate deposition method capable of improving the morphology of high‐coverage hole‐transport layers (HTLs) and electron‐transport layers (ETLs) is reported. PSC devices using HTLs deposited on a hot substrate show improvement in the open‐circuit voltage (Voc) from 1.041 to 1.070 V and the PCE from 17.00% to 18.01%. The overall device performance is then further enhanced with the hot substrate deposition of ETLs as the Voc and PCE reach 1.105 V and 19.16%, respectively. The improved performance can be explained by the decreased current leakage and series resistance, which are present in PSCs with rough and discontinuous HTLs and ETLs.  相似文献

The challenge of continuous printing in high‐efficiency large‐area organic solar cells is a key limiting factor for their widespread adoption. A materials design concept for achieving large‐area, solution‐coated all‐polymer bulk heterojunction solar cells with stable phase separation morphology between the donor and acceptor is presented. The key concept lies in inhibiting strong crystallization of donor and acceptor polymers, thus forming intermixed, low crystallinity, and mostly amorphous blends. Based on experiments using donors and acceptors with different degree of crystallinity, the results show that microphase separated donor and acceptor domain sizes are inversely proportional to the crystallinity of the conjugated polymers. This methodology of using low crystallinity donors and acceptors has the added benefit of forming a consistent and robust morphology that is insensitive to different processing conditions, allowing one to easily scale up the printing process from a small‐scale solution shearing coater to a large‐scale continuous roll‐to‐roll (R2R) printer. Large‐area all‐polymer solar cells are continuously roll‐to‐roll slot die printed with power conversion efficiencies of 5%, with combined cell area up to 10 cm2. This is among the highest efficiencies realized with R2R‐coated active layer organic materials on flexible substrate.  相似文献

Two narrow bandgap non‐fullerene acceptors (NBG‐NFAs), namely, COTIC‐4F and SiOTIC‐4F, are designed and synthesized for the fabrication of efficient near‐infrared organic solar cells (OSCs). The chemical structures of the NBG‐NFAs contain a D′‐D‐D′ electron‐rich internal core based on a cyclopentadithiophene (or dithienosilole) (D) and alkoxythienyl (D′) core, end‐capped with the highly electron‐deficient unit 2‐(5,6‐difluoro‐3‐oxo‐2,3‐dihydro‐1H‐inden‐1‐ylidene)malononitrile (A), ultimately providing a A‐D′‐D‐D′‐A molecular configuration that enhances the intramolecular charge transfer characteristics of the excited states. One can thereby reduce the optical bandgap (Egopt) to as low as ≈1.10 eV, one of the smallest values for NFAs reported to date. In bulk‐heterojunction (BHJ) OSCs, NBG‐NFA blends with the polymer donor PTB7‐Th yield power conversion efficiencies (PCE) of up to 9.0%, which is particularly high when compared against a range of NBG BHJ blends. Most significantly, it is found that, despite the small energy loss (Egopt ? eVOC) of 0.52 eV, the PTB7‐Th/NBG‐NFA bulk heterojunction blends can yield short‐circuit current densities of up to 22.8 mA cm?2, suggesting that the design and application of NBG‐NFA materials have substantial potential to further improve the PCE of OSCs.  相似文献

Continuous flow methods are employed for the controlled polymerization of the roll‐to‐roll (R2R) compatible polymer PBDTTTz‐4 including optimization and upscaling experiments. The polymerization rate and materials’ quality can be increased significantly with the continuous flow method where reaction times down to 10 min afforded PBDTTTz‐4 with high molecular weight and a constant quality. The flow method enables full control of the molecular weight via tuning of the flow speed, catalyst loading, and temperature and avoids variation in materials’ quality associated with conventional batch synthesis. Upscaling from 300 mg batch synthesis to 10 g flow synthesis affords PBDTTTz‐4 with a production rate of up to 120 g day?1 for a very simple in‐house build flow reactor. An average power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 3.5% is achieved on a small scale (1 cm2) and an average PCE of 3.3% is achieved on a large scale (29 cm2). This shows that small device efficiencies can be scaled when using full R2R processing of flexible and encapsulated carbon‐based modules without the use of vacuum, indium‐tin‐oxide, or silver, with the best achieving a PCE of 3.8% PCE.  相似文献

Copolymers based on dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐d]silole (DTS) and dithienylthiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole (TTz) are synthesized and tested in an all‐solution roll process for polymer solar cells (PSCs). Fabrication of polymer:[6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) solar cells is done on a previously reported compact coating/printing machine, which enables the preparation of PSCs that are directly scalable with full roll‐to‐roll processing. The positioning of the side‐chains on the thiophene units proves to be very significant in terms of solubility of the polymers and consequently has a major impact on the device yield and process control. The most successful processing is accomplished with the polymer, PDTSTTz‐4 , that has the side‐chains situated in the 4‐position on the thiophene units. Inverted PSCs based on PDTSTTz‐4 demonstrate high fill factors, up to 59%, even with active layer thicknesses well above 200 nm. Power conversion efficiencies of up to 3.5% can be reached with the roll‐coated PDTSTTz‐4 :PCBM solar cells that, together with good process control and high device yield, designate PDTSTTz‐4 as a convincing candidate for high‐throughput roll‐to‐roll production of PSCs.  相似文献

Three new thieno[3,2‐b][1]benzothiophene ( TBT )‐based donor–π–acceptor (D–π–A) sensitizers, coded as SGT ‐ 121 , SGT ‐ 129 , and SGT ‐ 130 , have been designed and synthesized for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), for the first time. The TBT , prepared by fusing thiophene unit with the phenyl unit of triphenylamine donor, is utilized as the π‐bridge for all sensitizers with good planarity. They have been molecularly engineered to regulate the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO)‐lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels and extend absorption range as well as to control the electron‐transfer process that can ensure efficient dye regeneration and prevent undesired electron recombination. The photovoltaic performance of SGT‐sensitizer‐based DSSCs employing Co(bpy)32+/3+ (bpy = 2,2′‐bipyridine) redox couple is systematically evaluated in a thorough comparison with Y123 as a reference sensitizer. Among them, SGT ‐ 130 with benzothiadiazole‐phenyl ( BTD ‐ P ) unit as an auxiliary acceptor exhibits the highest power‐conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10.47% with Jsc = 16.77 mA cm?2, Voc = 851 mV, and FF = 73.34%, whose PCE is much higher than that of Y123 (9.5%). It is demonstrated that the molecular combination of each fragment in D–π–A organic sensitizers can be a pivotal factor for achieving the higher PCEs and an innovative strategy for strengthening the drawbacks of the π‐bridge.  相似文献

Solution‐processable small molecules are significant for producing high‐performance bulk heterojunction organic solar cells (OSCs). Shortening alkyl chains, while ensuring proper miscibility with fullerene, enables modulation of molecular stacking, which is an effective method for improving device performance. Here, the design and synthesis of two solution‐processable small molecules based on a conjugated backbone with a novel end‐capped acceptor (oxo–alkylated nitrile) using octyl and hexyl chains attached to π–bridge, and octyl and pentyl chains attached to the acceptor is reported. Shortening the length of the widely used octyl chains improves self‐assembly and device performance. Differential scanning calorimetry and grazing incidence X‐ray diffraction results demonstrated that the molecule substituted by shorter chains shows tighter molecular stacking and higher crystallinity in the mixture with 6,6‐phenyl‐C71‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) and that the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the OSC is as high as 5.6% with an open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.87 V, a current density (Jsc) of 9.94 mA cm‐2, and an impressive filled factor (FF) of 65% in optimized devices. These findings provide valuable insights into the production of highly efficient solution‐processable small molecules for OSCs.  相似文献

Organic solar cells (OSCs) containing non‐fullerene acceptors have realized high power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to 14%. However, most of these high‐performance non‐fullerene OSCs have been reported with optimal active layer thickness of about 100 nm, mainly due to the low electron mobility (≈10?4–10?5 cm2 V?1 s?1) of non‐fullerene acceptors, which are not suitable for roll‐to‐roll large‐scale processing. In this work, an efficient non‐fullerene OSC based on poly[(5,6‐difluoro‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazol‐4,7‐diyl)‐alt‐(3,3′″‐di(2‐octyldodecyl)‐2,2′;5′,2″;5″,2′″‐quaterthiophen‐5,5′′′‐diyl)] (PffBT4T‐2OD):EH‐IDTBR (consists of electron‐rich indaceno[1,2‐b:5,6‐b′]dithiophene as the central unit and an electron‐deficient 5,6‐benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole unit flanked with rhodanine as the peripheral group) with thickness‐independent PCE (maintaining a PCE of 9.1% with an active layer thickness of 300 nm) is presented by optimizing device architectures to overcome the space‐charge effects. Optical modeling reveals that most of the incident light is absorbed near the transparent electrode side in thick‐film devices. The transport distance of electrons with lower mobility will therefore be shortened when using inverted device architecture, in which most of the excitons are generated close to the cathode side and therefore substantially reduces the accumulation of electrons in the device. As a result, an efficient thick‐film non‐fullerene OSC is realized. These results provide important guidelines for the development of more efficient thick‐film non‐fullerene OSCs.  相似文献

Organometal halide perovskites have powerful intrinsic potential to drive next‐generation solar technology, but their insufficient thermomechanical reliability and unproven large‐area manufacturability limit competition with incumbent silicon photovoltaics. This work addresses these limitations by leveraging large‐area processing and robust inorganic hole transport layers (HTLs). Inverted perovskite solar cells utilizing NiOx HTLs deposited by rapid aqueous spray‐coating that outperform spin‐coated NiOx and lead to a 5× improvement in the fracture energy (Gc), a primary metric of thermomechanical stability, are presented. The morphology, chemical composition, and optoelectronic properties of the NiOx films are characterized to understand and optimize compatibility with an archetypal double cation perovskite, Cs.17FA.83Pb(Br.17I.83)3. Perovskite solar cells with sprayed NiOx show higher photovoltaic performance, exhibiting up to 82% fill factor and 17.7% power conversion efficiency (PCE)—the highest PCE reported for inverted cell with scalable charge transport layers—as well as excellent stability under full illumination and after 4000 h aging in inert conditions at room temperature. By utilizing open‐air techniques and aqueous precursors, this combination of robust materials and low‐cost processing provides a platform for scaling perovskite modules with long‐term reliability.  相似文献

Polymer solar cells (PSCs) are fabricated without solvent additives using a low‐bandgap polymer, PBDTTT‐C‐T, as the donor and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric‐acid‐methyl‐ester (PC61BM) as the acceptor. Donor‐acceptor blend and layer‐by‐layer (LL) solution process are used to form active layers. Relative to the blend devices, the LL devices exhibit stronger absorption, better vertical phase separation, higher hole and electron mobilities, and better charge extraction at correct electrodes. As a result, after thermal annealing the LL devices exhibit an average power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 6.86%, which is much higher than that of the blend devices (4.31%). The best PCE of the LL devices is 7.13%, which is the highest reported for LL processed PSCs and among the highest reported for PC61BM‐based single‐junction PSCs.  相似文献

Perovskite‐organic tandem solar cells are attracting more attention due to their potential for highly efficient and flexible photovoltaic device. In this work, efficient perovskite‐organic monolithic tandem solar cells integrating the wide bandgap perovskite (1.74 eV) and low bandgap organic active PBDB‐T:SN6IC‐4F (1.30 eV) layer, which serve as the top and bottom subcell, respectively, are developed. The resulting perovskite‐organic tandem solar cells with passivated wide‐bandgap perovskite show a remarkable power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 15.13%, with an open‐circuit voltage (Voc) of 1.85 V, a short‐circuit photocurrent (Jsc) of 11.52 mA cm?2, and a fill factor (FF) of 70.98%. Thanks to the advantages of low temperature fabrication processes and the flexibility properties of the device, a flexible tandem solar cell which obtain a PCE of 13.61%, with Voc of 1.80 V, Jsc of 11.07 mA cm?2, and FF of 68.31% is fabricated. Moreover, to demonstrate the achieved high Voc in the tandem solar cells for potential applications, a photovoltaic (PV)‐driven electrolysis system combing the tandem solar cell and water splitting electrocatalysis is assembled. The integrated device demonstrates a solar‐to‐hydrogen efficiency of 12.30% and 11.21% for rigid, and flexible perovskite‐organic tandem solar cell based PV‐driven electrolysis systems, respectively.  相似文献

“The Same‐Acceptor‐Strategy” (SAS) adopts benzotriazole (BTA)‐based p‐type polymers paired with a new BTA based non‐fullerene acceptor BTA13 to minimize the trade‐off between the open‐circuit voltage (VOC) and short circuit current (JSC). The fluorination and sulfuration are introduced to lower the highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMO) of the polymers. The fluorinated polymer of J52‐F shows the higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 8.36% than the analog polymer of J52, benefited from a good balance between an improved VOC of 1.18 V and a JSC of 11.55 mA cm?2. Further adding alkylthio groups on J52‐F, the resulted polymer, J52‐FS, exhibits the highest VOC of 1.24 V with a decreased energy loss of 0.48 eV, compared with 0.67 eV for J52 and 0.54 eV for J52‐F. However, J52‐FS shows an inferior PCE (3.84%) with a lower JSC of 6.74 mA cm?2, because the small ΔEHOMO between J52‐FS and BTA13 (0.02 eV) gives rise to the inefficient hole transfer and high charge recombination, as well as low carrier mobilities. The results of this study clearly demonstrate that the introduction of different atoms in p‐type polymers is effective to improve the SAS and realize the high (VOC) and PCE.  相似文献

An aromatic lactam acceptor unit, thieno[3,2‐c]isoquinolin‐5(4H)‐one (TIQ), is developed. Compared with its analogues, dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐d]pyridin‐5(4H)‐one (DTP) and phenanthridin‐6(5H)‐one (PN), TIQ shows its advantage in constructing donor–acceptor (D–A) copolymers for efficient solar cells. TIQ‐based D–A copolymer PTIQ4TFBT delivers a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10.16% in polymer:fullerene solar cells, while those based on DTP and PN copolymers, PDTP4TFBT and PPN4TFBT, afford PCEs around 8.5%. The higher performance of PTIQ4TFBT:PC71BM solar cells originates from enhanced short‐circuit current density (Jsc) and fill factor (FF), because of favorable morphology, less bimolecular recombination, and balanced charge transport in the active layer. Moreover, the performance for PTIQ4TFBT:PC71BM solar cells is less sensitive to active layer thickness than PDTP4TFBT:PC71BM and PPN4TFBT:PC71BM solar cells. Over 8% PCEs can be obtained from PTIQ4TFBT:PC71BM solar cells when the active layer thickness is over 500 nm.  相似文献

Zn(II)–porphyrin sensitizers, coded as SGT‐020 and SGT‐021 , are designed and synthesized through donor structural engineering. The photovoltaic (PV) performances of SGT sensitizer‐based dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are systematically evaluated in a thorough SM315 as a reference sensitizer. The effect of the donor ability and the donor bulkiness on photovoltaic performances is investigated for establishing the structure–performance relationship in the platform of porphyrin‐triple bond‐benzothiadiazole‐acceptor sensitizers. By introducing a more bulky fluorene unit to the amine group in the SM315 , the power conversion efficiency (PCE) is enhanced with the increased short‐circuit current (Jsc) and open‐circuit voltage (Voc), due to the improved light‐harvesting ability and the efficient prevention of charge recombination, respectively. As a consequence, a maximum PCE of 12.11% is obtained for SGT‐021 , whose PCE is much higher than the 11.70% PCE for SM315 . To further improve their maximum efficiency, the first parallel tandem DSSCs employing cobalt electrolyte in the top and bottom cells are demonstrated and an extremely high efficiency of 14% is achieved, which is currently the highest reported value for tandem DSSCs. The series tandem DSSCs give a remarkably high Voc value of >1.83 V. From this DSSC tandem configuration, 7.4% applied bias photon‐to‐current efficiency is achieved for solar water splitting.  相似文献

High‐quality charge carrier transport materials are of key importance for stable and efficient perovskite‐based photovoltaics. This work reports on electron‐beam‐evaporated nickel oxide (NiOx) layers, resulting in stable power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of up to 18.5% when integrated into solar cells employing inkjet‐printed perovskite absorbers. By adding oxygen as a process gas and optimizing the layer thickness, transparent and efficient NiOx hole transport layers (HTLs) are fabricated, exhibiting an average absorptance of only 1%. The versatility of the material is demonstrated for different absorber compositions and deposition techniques. As another highlight of this work, all‐evaporated perovskite solar cells employing an inorganic NiOx HTL are presented, achieving stable PCEs of up to 15.4%. Along with good PCEs, devices with electron‐beam‐evaporated NiOx show improved stability under realistic operating conditions with negligible degradation after 40 h of maximum power point tracking at 75 °C. Additionally, a strong improvement in device stability under ultraviolet radiation is found if compared to conventional perovskite solar cell architectures employing other metal oxide charge transport layers (e.g., titanium dioxide). Finally, an all‐evaporated perovskite solar mini‐module with a NiOx HTL is presented, reaching a PCE of 12.4% on an active device area of 2.3 cm2.  相似文献

A new 2D‐conjugated medium bandgap donor–acceptor copolymer, J81 , based on benzodifuran with trialkylsilyl thiophene side chains as donor unit and fluorobenzothiazole as acceptor, is synthesized and successfully used in nonfullerene polymer solar cells (PSCs) with low bandgap n‐type organic semiconductor (n‐OS) 3,9‐bis(2‐methylene‐ (3‐(1,1‐dicyanomethylene)‐indanone)‐5,5,11,11‐tetrakis(4‐ hexylphenyl)‐dithieno[2,3‐d:2′,3′‐d′]‐s‐indaceno[1,2‐b:5,6‐b′]‐ dithiophene (ITIC) and m ‐ITIC as acceptor. J81 possesses a lower‐lying highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy level of ?5.43 eV and medium bandgap of 1.93 eV with complementary absorption in the visible–near infrared region with the n‐OS acceptor. The PSCs based on J81 :ITIC and J81 :m ‐ITIC yield high power conversion efficiency of 10.60% and 11.05%, respectively, with high V oc of 0.95–0.96 V benefit from the lower‐lying HOMO energy level of J81 donor. The work indicates that J81 is another promising polymer donor for the nonfullerene PSCs.  相似文献

All‐inorganic cesium lead halide (CsPbX3) perovskites have emerged as promising photovoltaic materials owing to their superior thermal stability compared to traditional organic–inorganic hybrid counterparts. However, the CsPbX3 perovskites generally need to be prepared at high‐temperature, which restricts their application in multilayer or flexible solar cells. Herein, the formation of CsPbX3 perovskites at room‐temperature (RT) induced by dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) coordination is reported. It is further found that a RT solvent (DMSO) annealing (RTSA) treatment is valid to control the perovskite crystallization dynamics, leading to uniform and void‐free films, and consequently a maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 6.4% in the device indium tin oxide (ITO)/NiO x /RT‐CsPbI2Br/C60/Bathocuproine (BCP)/Ag, which is, as far as it is known, the first report of RT solution‐processed CsPbX3‐based perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Moreover, the efficiency can be boosted up to 10.4% by postannealing the RTSA‐treated perovskite film at an optimal temperature of 120 °C. Profiting from the moderate temperature, flexible PSCs are also demonstrated with a maximum PCE of 7.3% for the first time. These results may stimulate further development of all‐inorganic CsPbX3 perovskites and their application in flexible electronics.  相似文献

Two small molecule donor materials (DTGe(FBTTh2)2 and DTGe(FBTBFu)2) incorporating the dithienogermole (DTGe) moiety with fluorobenzothiadiazole (FBT) and bithiophene (Th2) or benzofuran (BFu) end‐capping groups are synthesized and their properties as donor materials in small molecule bulk heterojunction type (BHJ) solar cells are investigated. The DTGe(FBTTh2)2 with Th2 end groups shows outstanding solar cell characteristics with efficiencies up to 6.4% using a standard BHJ architecture and 7.3% using a ZnO optical spacer, while the BFu end‐capped DTGe(FBTBFu)2 has slightly wider band gaps and yields slightly higher open circuit voltage (VOC) at the expense of short circuit current (JSC) and fill factor (FF). In this study, the DTGe‐based molecules are systematically compared to the dithienosilole (DTSi)‐based analogues, which are currently among the highest power conversion efficiency (PCE) small molecule solar cell donor materials known. The JSC produced by the DTGe molecule is found to be similar to, or slightly higher than the Si analogue, despite similar absorption characteristics, however, the PCE is similar to the Si analogues due to small decreases in VOC and FF. This report marks the first small molecule BHJ based on a Ge‐containing heterocycle with PCE over 7%.  相似文献
