A convenient assumption while modeling a marked point process is that the observations (i.e., marks) and the locations (i.e., points) are independent. We propose new graphical and formal testing approaches to test for this assumption. The proposed graphical procedures are easy to obtain and can be used to diagnose the nature and range of dependence between marks and points. The formal testing procedures require only minimal conditions on marks and thus can be applied to a variety of settings. We illustrate these procedures through a simulation study and an application to some real data.  相似文献

A method for estimating the rate of population interchange between two areas is described in this paper. It is applicable to the case where the sampling ratios and the survival factors of the populations on two areas are different from each other. From the marking-and-recapture data taken at three successive occasions, we can obtain the estimates of emigration factors, total survival factors over two areas and the ratio of surviving migrants to the total survivors over the two areas, for each of two populations initially living on different areas.  相似文献

A marking-and-recapture study of a population of overwintered adults of Epilachna sparsa orientalis was carried out in a small farm containing potatoes and egg-plants. The experiment involved a single release and five recapture samplings during May–June. The data were analysed byLeslie's re-recapture method. Assumption of randomness of sampling proved to be well satisfied. Survival rate of the overwintered adult population was maintained as high as 90 per cent per week or more until early June, and then it declined rapidly towards the end of June. Initially overwintered adults exclusively lived on potato plants, but half of the population alive in mid June migrated to nearby egg-plants. Emigration out of the experimental field, however, seemed not to be occurring. Recapture data of marked individuals in the potato field indicate that majority of the individuals stayed within a radius of 3 m, at least for 2 weeks. Similar data taken from another field also suggest that their mobility was far restricted as compared with random movement within the field. Some comparisons were made between the population behaviours of overwintered adults of E. sparsa orientalis and E. vigintioctomaculata.  相似文献

More than 50% of nests of Ropalidia fasciata were founded by association of foundresses (multifemale nests). The multifemale nests were generally initiated earlier and grew faster than the single-female nests. The survival rate of the multifemale nests was significantly higher than that of single-female nests, and the productivity as measured by the number of cells produced per foundress had a peak at a foundress-group size from 6 to 10. The number of marked foundresses which were seen on their original nest decreased as the colony cycle proceeded, but some of them continued to coexist on the original nests after emergency of many female progeny. Except in the case where a large number of foundresses attended a young nest so that some foundresses could not sit on the nest, the dominance interactions among cofoundresses were mild. More than twothirds (71.4%) of nests (including those at the post-emergence stage) had multiple egg-layers. The foundress association in this species is considered to be beneficial for every foundress because it raises ability to avoid predation or to reconstruct their nests when the nests are destroyed by typhoons.  相似文献

We study tools for checking the validity of a parametric regressionmodel. When the dimension of the regressors is large, many ofthe existing tests face the curse of dimensionality or requiresome ordering of the data. Our tests are based on the residualempirical process marked by proper functions of the regressors.They are able to detect local alternatives converging to thenull at parametric rates. Parametric and nonparametric alternativesare considered. In the latter case, through a proper principalcomponent decomposition, we are able to derive smooth directionaltests which are asymptotically distribution-free under the nullmodel. The new tests take into account precisely the ‘geometryof the model’. A simulation study is carried through andan application to a real dataset is illustrated.  相似文献

采用标志重捕和染色观测法跟踪了内蒙古典型草原区布氏田鼠野外种群,按绝对时间年龄研究其种群繁殖参数。结果3表明:4-5月份出生的雄鼠能在当年达到性成熟,性成熟发育历期约为1.5个月,6月后出生的雄鼠当年达不到性成熟。在达到性成熟的当年雄鼠中,多数个体再度转入性休止期,其平均繁殖结束时间要林越冬雄鼠早1个月,而越冬雄鼠则在整个繁殖期保持性活动状态。雌鼠性成熟发育历期约为1个月,首次产仔时间约为2月龄。雌鼠在一年中的产仔窝数与其年龄有关;越冬鼠能产3-4窝,4月份出生的雌鼠能产2-3窝,5月份出生的雌鼠当年能产1-2窝,6月份出生的雌鼠能产0-1窝,7月份之后出生雌鼠当年不参加繁殖,在自然条件下,布氏田鼠一年中最多能产4窝。  相似文献

以耳标观察法。1985年4-7月共捕标了样地内高原鼠兔(Ochotona curzoniae)幼鼠114只。到入冬前,死亡率为50.88%。第2胎出生的鼠死亡率明显地高于第1胎的死亡率。冬季死亡率呈现波动,入冬及开春时死亡率较高。鼠兔种群进入繁殖前期死亡率趋于零。初春样区存活标志鼠6只,经夏秋冬3季总计死亡率达94.74%。如按入冬时实有标志鼠计算,冬季死亡率为91.04%。  相似文献

Synopsis We present ways to test the assumptions of the Petersen and removal methods of population size estimation and ways to adjust the estimates if violations of the assumptions are found. We were motivated by the facts that (1) results of using both methods are commonly reported without any reference to the testing of assumptions, (2) violations of the assumptions are more likely to occur than not to occur in natural populations, and (3) the estimates can be grossly in error if assumptions are violated. We recognize that in many cases two days in the field is the most time fish biologists can spend in obtaining a population estimate, so the use of alternative models of population estimation that require fewer assumptions is precluded. Hence, for biologists operating with these constraints and only these biologists, we describe and recommend a two-day technique that combines aspects of both capture-recapture and removal methods. We indicate how to test: most of the assumptions of both methods and how to adjust the population estimates obtained if violations of the assumptions occur. We also illustrate the use of this combined method with data from a field study. The results of this application further emphasize the importance of testing the assumptions of whatever method is used and making appropriate adjustments to the population size estimates for any violations identified.  相似文献

Summary .   In environmental risk analysis, it is common to assume the stochastic independence (or separability) between the marks associated with the random events of a spatial-temporal point process. Schoenberg (2004, Biometrics 60, 471–481) proposed several test statistics for this hypothesis and used simulated data to evaluate their performance. He found that a Cramér-von Mises-type test is powerful to detect gradual departures from separability although it is not uniformly powerful over a large class of alternative models. We present a semiparametric approach to model alternative hypotheses to separability and derive a score test statistic. We show that there is a relationship between this score test and some of the test statistics proposed by Schoenberg. Specifically, all are different versions of weighted Cramér-von Mises-type statistics. This gives some insight into the reasons for the similarities and differences between the test statistics' performance. We also point out some difficulties in controlling the type I error probability in Schoenberg's residual test.  相似文献

Tree distribution patterns in forest stands can be considered as marked point processes in the plane. Gibbs processes are a natural tool for modelling such point processes because the interaction between trees can be taken into account and described by pair potential functions. Consequently, tree distribution patterns can be characterized with few parameters and be compared quantitatively. By means of forest stand examples it is shown how these parametric models can be used for the analysis of tree distribution patterns at different time points.  相似文献

Population units which are homogeneous with respect to capture-recapture assumptions are identified by applying 11 contingency table tests to grasshopper data according to various site, species, growth stage and sex groupings. The results of 2337 contingency table analyses have permitted a definition of the biological, spatial and temporal characteristics of those groupings which were found to be homogeneous. The same analyses suggest that dispersal rates and dispersal patterns pose the greatest single difficulty in defining population homogeneity within an open community. The effects of failures in capture-recapture assumptions are discussed in relation toJolly's 1965 stochastic model. The change in population density of Cavelerius saccharivorus was studied in the sugar cane field and the Miscanthus habitats around it. This species spent 2 (or partly 3) generations a year. It was suggested that the density rose in the sugar cane field where the density had been low enough, when the population density increased in the nearby sugar cane fields. Likely, the density in the Miscanthus habitat increased with the density in the nearby sugar cane field. It seems that these are mainly due to flying movement of adults, and that the movement takes place in every season. It was found through the investigation in the sugar cane field that the percentage of long-winged adults increased with the population density. These adults seemed to emmigrate to the nearby sugar cane fields and Miscanthus habitats. The remarkable increase in the percentage of long-winged adults in the sugar cane field was probably due to the immigration into there. In the Miscanthus habitat the adult population was consisted mainly of long-winged ones. Through all the observations, it was suggested that the adult movement was associated with the population regulation and performed chiefly by long-winged adults.  相似文献
