Abstract: | Following a period of intensive and illuminating genetic analysis, the biochemical mechanism of mismatch repair was deciphered by Paul Modrich and his colleagues. The establishment of an in vitro assay that specifically supports strand-specific excision repair of mismatched bases was a seminal contribution to this body of work. |
