Altitudinal variation in Leptospermum flavescens Sm. (Myrtaceae)

Correlation of altitude with morphological data from herbarium specimens of two taxa within the Leptospermum flavescens group indicates that, in the Sydney region, there is a convergence of leaf and flower size at higher altitudes. There are also altitudinal differences in germination ability, growth rate and leaf chemistry. Experimental evidence suggests that at least some of this altitudinal variation is genetically fixed within the populations.
