Abstract: | Summary Reactor performance was studied to investigate whether a rotating packed disk reactor (RPDR) can be used for the enzymatic oxidation of biochemicals. The disks were packed with calcium alginate beads with immobilized glucose oxidase and catalase, which catalyze the reaction of glucose and oxygen. The production rate of gluconic acid increased with the speed of rotation and the bulk flow rate. An optimum submergence for maximum productivity existed. |
